The brisket was nice and moist but unfortunately two slices were sliced incorrectly WITH the grain instead of across the grain. This made them tougher than they should have been. Kind of a rookie mistake. But the flavor was good. The grandson's spicy fried flounder was very good. He loved it! The spicy Chicken sandwich was excellent and shared between two of our party. Overall the food was good and the service was very good. The place wasn't busy because it was midafternoon which was nice since it's usually packed on the weekends. We definitely will return when we travel to Harlingen to pick up visitors at the airport.

The AC vents are caked in dust like they've never been cleaned, and there's what looks like black mold throughout the building. The girl taking my order was unbelievably rude from the start. I ordered exactly what's written on their menu--a parrillada--and she acted like I was out of my mind. Instead of just ringing up what I asked for, she kept pushing a botana, which is something completely different, looking irritated the entire time. To make it even more ridiculous, I asked for chips because apparently an $8.99 order of guacamole does not come with tortilla chips and was told it'd be $4.50 if I wanted some. You've got to be joking... Between the dirty environment, the attitude, and the absurd upcharges, this restaurant is a hard never again. Save your money and your appetite bc there are way better places that actually care about their customers and their cleanliness. I'd go across the street to La Playa. Great customer service and food over there.

I also got chips & queso because I wanted to try that, too. I think I'm too used to crappy fast food Mexican food like Taco Cabana, because I was expecting everything to be on the smallish side. I was dead wrong. The tacos are large and the carne guisada one was stuffed to overflowing. Two people could easily split the dinner, and the extra stuff was just wasteful on my part. I ate a fraction of what came. As far as the food goes, the rice is seriously good and so are the beans. That's typically where most restaurants just throw some filler on the plate and call it a day. The guacamole was good, too. The homemade chips are also delicious. I did enjoy the queso, but wouldn't put it too far above average restaurant faire. The fajitas were very good as was the carne guisada, although I thought the beef chunks were extremely large. I didn't care for the enchilada sauce, so I ended up not eating those. But, that's just personal preference, so take it with a grain of salt. Overall, I thought it was good food at a good price and I'll probably order it again when I come back through Harlingen.
