This is a hidden gem off of Nolana Loop in Pharr/ San Juan area. The place is small and very festive. The service was quick and friendly. The owner also came out and was very helpful with the menu. The menu is small but everything tasted very authentic and was well prepared. I liked the salsas that came with the chip strips. We ordered a sampler platter to taste a little of everything and it was all delicious. The only thing is that the menu is pork-heavy with the exception of a burger and quesadillas, so keep that in mind if you have a pork allergy or choose not to eat pork. All in all, I would recommend checking out the menu and trying them out.

Incredible! Visiting the valley with my friends for a wedding and was looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant. The food was so fresh and flavorful! We got the birria tacos, torta ahogada and carne en su jugo. Our favorite was the birria tacos but all of it was fire! The service was so friendly, he even brought us all sombreros to take a fun group picture. I highly recommend Guadalajara!

When I travel, I like to find local family-run restaurants to support. This one was difficult to find but worth looking for! I used some of the driving tips from other reviews to find the place (the yelp map took me in the wrong direction.) The man I assume was the owner was very welcoming. I thought the decor was fun too. The food was delicious!! The salsas were excellent, and the birria tacos were amazing. The free fideo soup starter was a nice touch. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It's been a while since I walked out of a restaurant and felt that everything I'd had tasted amazing and was made fresh from the chips and drinks to the French fries and bread. The aguas frescas were really tasty. I'm pretty picky about horchata, and this was one of the best I've had in the RGV. The rusa wasn't like the ones you pick up at a raspa stand (which I really like, too), but it was perfectly balanced. You couldn't isolate the flavors of what was in it, and was the right amount of sweet and tangy. The tacos were double tortilla, which made the outside just crispy enough to hold together the juicy meat and cheese inside without falling apart. My youngest had the "snack" which was basically hot dogs and French fries, but was fun for him. Hot dogs split to look like little octopi, (salchi-pulpo) or sliced and wrapped in a corn tortilla (also crispy) to be a salchi-taco. The French fries were hand cut potatoes with skin still on them, which were very tasty, and again, fresh. I'll add that a nice touch when we went in was a video of the owner's story and a customer review that was playing on a tv near the back of the place. It was tastefully done, and I left feeling like this is the kind of story worth contributing my patronage to making it successful. The story became a topic of conversation during the meal. I appreciated the yelp recommendations that led me here, so I wanted to contribute another experience to confirm that it's a place worth visiting and recommending. It's places like this that deserve to be successful in the RGV.

Tacos de birria and the torta ahogada is one of a kind. It is pricey for the "fast food" business but make it your own experience.

With no reservation, I was asked to kindly take a seat in the small waiting area to clear a table. I was instantly greeted with a friendly smile and felt welcomed. I was seated within 5 minutes. I had a late lunch and wasn't super hungry. I couldn't pass up the refried beans and chips since they were wafting in my vicinity, no regrets though, the chips were on the lighter side (not super hard like a tostada) and crispy and you could taste the manteca in the beans which made me smile. Según, I had no intention on eating but I couldn't pass up the aguachile as it came to my table. Twas delightful! The only regret I had at that point was not bringing my appetite. Onto the drinks. Wanted to start off "light" and the Paloma was perfect and refreshing. Not too much on the squirt side, not amargoso (bitter) and the right amount of tequila. During the night they abruptly announced that they were running a 2 for 1 shot special along with LMFAO's "Shots" song and you almost feel obliged to order (marketing genius). I was feeling adventurous and decided not to ask what each shot entailed, but rather to go based off the name. I went with the Perla Negra and for the presentation itself it was worth ordering. All in all, this place is a MUST for your Friday night warm up. Como dice terminator: I'll be back.

Waiter came and took our orders for drinks and we all started making our selections for food. The chips and salsa they bring out complementary are so good. We did have to wait because they were making a fresh batch but it was worth the wait. We all had a round of drinks and then put in our order for food and it was about 7pm already. Our waiter then came up to the table and asked us if we would mind moving because they had a reservation at 8pm for the area that they chose to sit us in. We were kind of annoyed by that because we had called the day before to make our reservations. We said I guess thinking it was going to be close to 8 that they would move us. Nope about 5-10 mins passed and he came by and asked us if we would mind moving already before our food came out. Considering that again we had a reservation and they knew it was a large party they should have blocked out more than just 2 hrs for us to be there. We moved and the very least they could have done for us is offer a free dessert on the house for the table but they didn't. Now I ordered the flautas which were served on a bead of beans. The menu said shredded chicken but we were told they didn't have chicken they only had beef so I ordered it. The flautes were lacking flavor and probably could have been saved by adding salt to them and the beans but they don't have that at any of the table. I did try some of my friends chicharrones and those were really good. We left around 8:15-8:20 and there was no one that showed up where we were originally sitting... so we could have just stayed where they originally sat us. We left feeling very annoyed.

This place doesn't disappoint, I love everything, from the clean modern yet inviting ambiance to the café de olla and the Chilaquiles! I ordered the Mini Reketes: chilaquiles divorciados (red and green salsa) which come with shredded chicken. I added queso panela asado and chicharrón with mixed salsa... DELICIOSO! And to top everything else, the service was kind and friendly, as soon as I let Nancy know it was my first time here they walked me through the options and what they are known for. But that's not all, I came in hungry and left satisfied AND motivated by their kind personal note in my coffee cup and inspired by their place matt.
