At that time you had a chance to mention our returns are in-store credit. When I returned my items the next day you seemed cold and careless when I was surprised by the in-store credit only. Maybe a mindslip or maybe shady, only you know, but really poor service on your part. Fun fact we even chatted about how some stores were charging for returns. He was SOOO helpful with helping me decide on which hat to give as a gift AND offered getting the custom design as well. He really went above and beyond his job. You can tell he really enjoys and loves what he does. He helped me design the hat the way I wanted and gave his opinion on what would look the ultimate best with stitching, words, and fonts. The confidence he showed in helping me decide really stood out to me. I ended up buying one hat and custom designing it (stitching on it) and loved how it turned out! If you're looking for a stitch design expert for hats or just to purchase a nice cap for someone or yourself, I highly recommend coming here and especially working with Dustin! I placed an online order and opted to pick it up at the Greendale, WI store. Everything was going…read morewell until I noticed an entry on the receipt that was puzzling. There was a shipping/handling charge ($3.95). What's the problem? Well, their website advertised "Free shipping to store". Upon seeing this I asked the sales clerk about it. She is aware of the JC Penney policy to not having s/h charges for items picked at their stores. Thus began a lengthy, time-consuming chain reaction. The sales clerk tried to summon a manager, a process that took several minutes (note that employees are spread thin here). She too is aware of the "No s/h" policy for items picked up at the store. Both said they hadn't encountered this problem before. One thought a relatively simple process would solve this dilemma, but the other said it couldn't be done (in essence, "return" the item on the spot, then buy it again. Not having a solution, another manager was summoned. After conferring with the other 2 employees and me, she concluded that it would be necessary for me to call one of their 800 numbers. These 3 ladies seemed knowledgeable and competent; however, with no policy or solution in place, there was nothing else they could do. Apologies were made. The Penney's chain needs to have clear-cut directions if this happens, not leave their workers with no guidance. As of now, the burden is placed upon me (the customer). I must spend time calling the 800 number. Not sure if someone there can resolve the issue.Stay tuned for further developments!
