What a difference new ownership makes! After 2 food inspection passes we were ready to try this little gem again. We left this place years ago due to bad conditions, reviews and were worried to try it but several years have passed and we were ready. Super friendly owner and staff. Clean and busy when we were there. My husband got the goat curry spiced hot which he said was really hot and he likes his food spicy! He said it was tender and delicious and proportioned right. I got the paneer tikka masala which was wonderful. I order my food mild and was glad I did. My Lady loves Indian Cuisine and I looked up locations in the area. After seeing the menu, the pictures, and the reviews I believed this was the best place. I had a reservation but was running late and I had no issue pushing the time back. Probably because it was a party of two but very accommodating. Don't let the outside of the establishment steer you away. The inside is great. It was spacious, clean, neat, and peaceful. We sat at a booth comfortably and they had a bar. No music though. Our waitress was helpful and understanding. I had the Lamb Briyani and she had the Goat Briyani. It was PERFECT, FLAVORFUL, and AMAZING to say the least. Nice size serving for the price. Three levels of spice... Mild, Medium, and Hot. If you don't like too much spice, go with Mild. We both had Medium and it was the right level to our liking but spicy. Food was so good we ordered the Butter Chicken Hot to go. Hot is SUPER HOT. Also the Nan was the perfect level of fluff, softness, and flavor. The price is more than reasonable by the size of servings they give. Shout out to the chef(s) that prepared our dishes! Great Job! My apologies I didn't take pictures, next time I will. Very easy online ordering process. Food was ready on time and safely handed over. The gal was wearing a mask and gloves. Food traveled better than expected. My final destination was approximately 45 minutes away and the food sat for an additional two hours before we dug in. The samosa's and vegetable pokora still had its fried crunch. I chose medium as the spice level for the masala and it was appropriately spiced and would even kick it up a level next time. This was my first time having vegetable biryani, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I loved it! A healthy portion of veggies mixed in and the spices gave this dish a robust flavor profile. Everything we had was very satisfying. The only negative was that they forgot the garlic naan. Really disappointing because you can't have Indian without naan! Wow finally some authentic Indian food and dessert. Wish I would've discovered this place sooner. Indian/ Asian cuisine. We started out with the samosas they were a 7/10 but our entrees is where they went all out. I got dal tadka, roti, butter chicken, garlic naan. All very good and good portions a little bit expensive with the tip we spent around $120 but it was sooooo worth it. Food came out relatively quick too. Food: I started with the samosas. Wonderfully flavorful and delicious. Two large samosas with dipping sauce. Then I ordered the garlic naan and the mixed vegetable korma. Each dish was packaged nicely and even had plastic wrap to secure it. The lamb korma was delicious but the tiki masala was pretty average. We got a 3 spicy level and it was still pretty mild so definitely go on the higher end if you are looking for spice. I have been to Namaste Restaurant a number of times and the food is good My issue is with customer service I called to order food on line after putting in a large order they told me twice my card didn't go through. They did recognize that it was on their end and it wasn't my card I then offered to pay cash ....it was then they told me they didn't deliver I was on the phone at least 1/2 hours with misunderstanding( from their end ) and then they told me they didn't deliver very frustrating read more

I try really hard not to write bad reviews because once they're up, they're up and businesses can't remove them. The only time I write a bad review is when I have had such an unpleasant experience somewhere, that I don't want others to have to suffer the same fate. This place was bizarre from start to finish. It's housed inside a motel but, hey, why not try it? First impression: filthy front door, walls, etc. We were the only diners in the restaurant, till 10 take out orders stacked up. The very sweet woman working was running around like crazy, trying to tend to everyone while the phone was ringing off the hook. We heard the Chef screaming from the kitchen pretty much throughout our entire meal. There was no other wait staff so this poor woman just had to deal with the fall out. I'm only giving a second star because of her hard work in an otherwise doomed-to-fail experience. The food was horrible. Everything was over seasoned and imbalanced. I've eaten Indian food all over the US and abroad, and this didn't taste even remotely authentic. The spice profiles were sophomoric at best. I've been home three hours now, and I've been sick to my stomach ever since we left. After talking to locals, we've learned that this place has gone downhill rapidly. One reviewer who was either a Health and Safety Inspector (or cut and paste Inspection reports?) left a horrifying review. Wish I'd seen that before wasting my time and money, and ending up getting sick. I cannot recommend this business to anyone, and we will not be going back. :( read more

After 45 minutes of waiting for our dinners they never were served. We kept asking about all 4 items and the person who took our requests said they are coming out soon. I don't think so therefore, we walked out and went back to our room and ordered from another restaurant and they were at our door with our food that was hot and freshly made within 20 minutes. No silverware to eat food -- no serving spoons for multiple dishes. Forgot an item in the order? The order was taken by manager?? Did not care!! But charged us every last dollar! Been residing area for over a year - there are far better food,service & atmosphere. I have far many places to dine& spend my money-- will not be back. Coming from NJ and only 20 minutes outside NYC, having and eating at quality and authentic cuisine style restaurants are not merely hoped for but, are expected! ( nor are they in short demand). Often times, those expectations are met. So, I was skeptical that PA, let alone Lancaster, would or even could give me a similar experience to match... I love Indian food. It is one of my favorites and I always get the Peshwari naan because I just like it and I tend to like foods on the sweeter side so... I also had the malai kofta. Yummy! I asked for mild and that is exactly what I got. My husband ordered the mulligatawny soup and I don't remember what else he had but the soup was delicious. We ate at Namaste recently and all got VERY SICK. My two children threw up within a few hours of eating and have had to miss school. My wife and I also felt nauseous throughout the night. We used to love Namaste, but under new management the restaurant has really taken a turn for the worse. The food tasted sour and old. We could barely eat any of the curries (our old favorites) and the rice was cold and crusty. The naan bread was dry and had a layer of gelatinous material on it. Absolutely horrible meal. read more

We had to wait for a long time before we got our food. There happened to be a big group celebrating their birthday. I'm not sure if it was because of that or if it's a regular thing at this place. We were forced to listen to the phone constantly ring at high volume, staff was all incredibly rude, and to top it off the food was awful. We asked them to remake it but they refused. It was crazy to us because we knew how much better it could be but they refused to listen to anything we said. Fought us when we asked for a refund for the terrible uneaten food at first for around 30m before finally letting us just pay for the appetizer we ate and leave. Just brought some food home from Namaste again for the second time, and man, I wish I could eat this every day! Ordered a classic chicken curry, coconut chicken curry, tikka masala, and butter chicken with some garlic naan and a side of cheese pakora. Just absolutely fantastic. Each curry was incredibly flavorful, and had just the right about of meat. The garlic naan wasn't overpowering but just enough to add that extra bit of flavor. The cheese pakora was very simple but I love paneer so can you really go wrong? I'll definitely be returning to Namaste soon, and if they ever bring back their lunch buffet, I'll be an even happier camper! read more

Pulling up to the location, I did not have the best feeling. I mean who has delicious Indian food in a small attachment to a cheap motel? Namaste does that's who! My mom, son, and I dined here on our second night in Lancaster. Indian is a cuisine we can all agree on, so I was excited about trying it out since the Yelp reviews were good. We were the only table sitting in the restaurant the entire time we were there, which made me feel better about dining indoors. Our server was timely and very sweet. My mom ordered the chicken korma and I the lamb roganjosh. We split garlic naan. My son ate off our plates. The presentation of the food was visually appealing and the taste even better. The naan was soft and buttery. The chicken korma had slight spice but was rich and creamy. The lamb was quite tender and the sauce was definitely spiced to my preference. So, this location--if we were to hop in the Wayback Machine--used to be a German cuisine restaurant. Since that time, 20 or so years ago, it has been a series of ho-hum Indian restaurants. Truly, talk about reincarnation. When I heard that Namaste was open, I was like "here we go again on the karmic wheel. Sketchy place, same food (maybe even owners), different name." I have to say that Namaste is a notch above the past lives that haunt the place. My assessment is a bit measured because I went to the lunch buffet, a very-reasonable $ 8.99. Actually, it was a bargain. But, the offerings are spiced less for less tolerant heat palates. Yet, I'd have to order my default Indian dishes and see how they stack-up with The Himalayan, etc. Get the offerings at the normal spice level I prefer then let the best Masala win. Here are some preliminary observations. Very good food. A nice array of offerings in the buffet. The add-on sauces are a bit tricky to figure out how to use without throwing the dishes off. For example, just adding heat doesn't make the dish better. That adjustment has to be figured out in the context of the recipe. The Naan came freshly made to each table. That was a nice touch rather than a pile of it sitting in a buffet tray. Super friendly and attentive wait staff. They were quick with water refills and etc. The place also seems a lot cleaner than it used to be. Being in a motel compound, it does have a cheap lodging vibe for out-of-towners looking to save a buck only to realize than they are nowhere close to the Amish nor downtown Lancaster. Instead, it is smack dab in the middle of franchise suburbia, with the requisite Lowe's next door. And all that traffic and not walkable. But, as a restaurant, it is attractive inside despite its homely exterior. Traditional Indian music is piped-in played versus American Top 40. Or, Indian Top 40. I told the cashier that I would write a Yelp review and help spread the word. I am very passionate about promoting authentic ethnic establishments and yearn for the day when the chains that crank out the same American menu go belly-up. Lancaster really has the potential to become a very diverse food scene because we are so welcoming to immigrants and refugees. Just down the road from Namaste is Everest, an Indian grocery store. Hey, we will never be Philly or NYC, but it is cool to have at least some of the world at our door. If we would just open it. I will need to get back and order off the menu individually.
