Excellent food and drinks at Namaste food truck today for lunch. We got the vegetable korma, Chana masala, paneer tikka masala, all of which came with rice. We also ordered mango lassi made with real mangos) and masala tea (made with grated Hawaiian ginger) both of which were delicious. Sam, the chef makes excellent lip smacking food, but is not very talkative. He is definitely gracious and recommends quantities appropriately. Quick tip: Portions are large. Prices are $23- $25 per plate. Order judiciously. Please don't ask for food to be "spicy" unless you can take the heat. read more

The location is Also not the greatest lots of birds ( can't avoid this) but they were also going inside the food truck which was odd. But why the 4 star? The kerala fish curry was the bomb! This place was amazing! The food came in generous portions and the rice was fresh, the curries were hot, and the service was friendly. I really appreciated that the curries used fresh vegetables. I could tell from the bite and cuts of vegetables that they were not frozen before getting cooked. We also tried the palak / spinach with garbanzo. I could see the leaves and the food tasted really flavorful. The dishes don't come with naan or roti. They are pricey but owner says they are hand made and organic. There are no prices on the menu but the vegetarian ones are all 23 dollars, meat is 25, and some specialty meats are more. There are some benches in front of the truck to eat from. read more

Personal opinion! The BEST Indian food on island! The guy who runs it is very personable. It had just rained when I came by & he gave me a cloth to wipe the table off, so I didn't have to stand during my wait the entire time. The dishes were flavorful and I was especially impressed by the quality of the fish. The naan bread was also very soft and fluffy. My only issue with this place was that the menu on the truck didn't have prices listed and the prices were fairly expensive considering it wasn't a sit-down place. The naan had more of a pita consistency, but I don't expect them to have a tandoor oven in the truck, so all good lol. That said, it was still good. He doesn't have prices listed. He could charge you anything. 2. He will refuse to accept payment until you are done eating. Since I arrived in Kapa'a Kauai, I've been trying to try this food truck but three times I went the wait were more than an hour long each time. Don't come in the evening. The best time to come is between 3 PM - 5 PM, that is your only hope if you Want to get your food in less than an hour. It's a one man food truck, he does everything. So it will takes time. But man oh man, I would put my money on this incredible chef against most Indian restaurant chefs anywhere in the mainland (and other Hawaiian islands). This is by far the best curry I've ever had in my life and I've traveled a lot and come from an urban center with amazing Indian cuisine. I got the shrimp and fish mixed curry and I don't know what kind of spices he uses, but it's the most authentic, mouthwatering meal I had on the island. The naan bread also melts in your mouth. I returned to Kauai and I went out of my way to go back to Kapa'a from Princeville just to take second trip to eat this delicious food. This man has skills and he's so nice and such a hard worker. I wish Namaste were in Anchorage - I'd be their best customer. A lady in the hot tub at our resort told me about it last night. She said it was the best Indian food she'd ever tasted. I checked the reviews and planned my visit. It's 1 Indian gentleman, taking the orders, preparing the food, and serving it up. And he is a gentleman - he does not accept payment until you are finished, and he has checked whether you enjoyed your meal. As to that, I did, most immensely. I'm English, and I ADORE Indian food, it's our most popular takeaway. I normally go for a Biryani, but that wasn't on the menu, so I opted for Vegetable Korma. He asked which spice level I'd prefer, I went with mild even though Korma isn't usually spicy, I'd read the reviews and decided to play safe Husband ordered a shrimp Curry and chose medium level, and I had a chuckle. He also got a Na'an bread. My korma was really superb contained a good variety of veg. Mild as requested, I think I could have handled medium. The rice was good too, long grain, well separated and fluffy. It was a big portion and not stupidly expensive, and I am so impressed by inexpensive but large portions from an unassuming food truck in Kapaa. Husband raved about the na'an bread, complained about me not warning him about the spice levels, but he ate a lot of it. He eats Indian food but it's not his fave. We came here because Happy Wife Happy Life. We chatted to the owner/cook/server, he asked where we came from, and knew all the Indian restaurants in Anchorage, and agreed with my assessments. We're from SoCal which has a lot of Indian cuisine available...and we both agree that this place has the, hands-down, best palak paneer we've ever tried! The paneer tikka masala was also delicious, like a creamy tomato broth.. but if you have to choose just one, get the palak paneer! A medium entree costs ~$18 but the portions are really sizeable and honestly just so delicious and worth it!
