Nama, Kani, Rian, and Surf & Turf rolls.
Samantha S.

My favorite sushi spot in the area. Limited menu compared to most sushi locations, but each roll is a 10/10. My favorite rolls are the Nama roll, Kani roll, Rian roll, and the surf & turf roll. They also offer several entree options. I personally like their sesame chicken and the pad sea ew noodles. I love that they rotate seasonal beverages. On weekends, it may be a good idea to get a reservation as their dining room is smaller and it's a very popular spot. They do have 3 outside tables, a full bar on the second level with seating and roof top seating seasonally.

This restaurant is located in a plaza with other businesses in Carrollton. There is limited parking in the lot so parking may be an issue for you. The restaurant is small and intimate. The tables and walls are decorated with nice decor. A bar was located upstairs in the restaurant. When we arrived we were seated right after the hostess removed the extra dishes from our table. While waiting for her to return, I observed that the wine glass on our table was dirty and had lip gloss stains on them. After bringing it to our waitress' attention she brought out new drinking glasses and had me verify that they were clean before pouring our water. The waitress then told us about the specials. One of which was the go west sushi roll. It sounded good so I ordered it. The sushi was served with eight rolls and contained cream cheese, tuna, shrimp tempura, avocado, and tempura crunch on top. The roll was good. The hibachi shrimp was also good. It was served with a large portion of stir fried vegetables and the option of steamed or fried rice for an up charge. The waitress initially forgot to bring out the miso soup that is served with the entree. After I reminded her she brought it out without hesitation.

It is so bad I want to give it a zero but that's not possible, so I give it a 1. Overall awful experience!! Our server Kevin was not attentive, was all over the place. We ordered drinks & didn't get them until halfway through our meal. There was ROACHES crawling in the dining area on the booths!! I can't imagine how horrible it must be in the kitchen. We were a party of 3, we all ordered hibachi, and when we ALL asked for yum yum sauce he only brought us 2. When we asked for more he seemed highly annoyed. We waited a very long time after our meal to receive our checks, & when we finally paid he charged us all wrong on our cards & had to be charged TWICE. I'm not the type to leave bad reviews but this experience was so bad. Definitely don't recommend.

Awkward Welcome, Bland Food, but Attentive Service Rating:…read more (2/5) Review (posted June 22, 2025): I visited Big Bear Asian Buffet at 6 PM on a Sunday evening, hoping for a fresh buffet experience during the dinner rush. Unfortunately, it fell short from the start. When I walked in, I followed the sign that said "Please wait to be seated." I stood there for several minutes as multiple waitresses looked at me but said nothing. It was uncomfortable. Eventually, a woman in a hoodie and sweatsuit appeared, said nothing, waved for me to follow her, and pointed at a table. Still no greeting, no words--just an awkward start to the meal. Once I was seated, one of the original waitresses came over to take my drink order. She ended up being the bright spot of the visit--very attentive and made sure my drink was always topped off. The food, however, didn't live up to expectations. Most of the hot dishes were lukewarm and lacked seasoning. I tried the sushi--five options total--and sadly, all were dry and very bland, like they'd been sitting out for a long time. Not what you'd hope for at prime dinner time. It's worth noting that the place seems to be a hotspot for locals picking up to-go boxes. I watched several people come in, pile food to the very top of their takeout containers, and head out within minutes. So maybe that's their main crowd--but it didn't do much to improve the dine-in experience. Bottom line: The service at the table was solid, but everything else--cold welcome, tired food, and lack of overall hospitality--makes it unlikely I'll return. There are better buffet options in the area where you'll feel like more than just another transaction.

If Atlanta had a "must-return" restaurant list, Poor Calvin's would easily be at the top of mine…read more Every single time I'm in Atlanta, this is one reservation I refuse to miss. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels intimate, upscale, and full of energy without trying too hard. It's the kind of place that instantly makes the night feel special. What keeps me coming back is how creative the menu is. Poor Calvin's has mastered the balance between Southern comfort food and bold Asian fusion flavors, and somehow every dish feels like a signature dish. The lobster fried rice is unforgettable, the crispy beef is packed with flavor, and the lobster mac and cheese deserves every bit of hype it gets online. Even the cocktails feel thoughtfully crafted instead of rushed. One thing I love is that the experience is consistently great. The service is always attentive, the presentation is beautiful, and the portions are generous enough that you'll probably be thinking about your leftovers the next day. I've brought friends here, recommended it to coworkers, and honestly judge my Atlanta trips by whether or not I made it to Poor Calvin's. You can tell why this place has developed such a loyal following. It's not just dinner -- it's an experience. Whether you're visiting Atlanta for the first time, planning date night, or celebrating something special, Poor Calvin's delivers every single time. Reservations are absolutely worth it.

Over the past 2 yrs go juu has gone from acceptable and half decent to absolute trash…read more The last three times I've gone there has been issues with the order. This third time ended it for me. I ordered sushi for me and general two for the kids. Apparently they couldn't make general tso but could make sweet and sour chicken. How? Idk. So instead of bringing the kids out first they bring the sushi which sits in front of me for another 15 mins before they bring the kids food. Obv I wasn't going to eat in front of the kids so I waited. When he comes to the table he has a plate 2/3 of over cooked mush broccoli, a scoop of rice and about 10 pieces of tiny popcorn crumbs from the corner of the bottom of the bag. I asked where the chicken was and he looked at me and said right there that's the portion. After back and forth the lady said it wasn't right. Now they want me to wait another 10-15 mins for the kids food while my sushi now sits for 30 mins getting warm. Why not would take 45 mins to properly serve a plate of sweet and sour chicken blows my mind. The service it's crap, prices crap, portions crap, recover crap, and everything about this place as a whole is crap. So for that thanks go juu for ruining my birthday dinner with my kids.
