I asked for submarine style bread or baguettes and they were still prepping them for the oven. However they did see me some ciabatta loaves. These loaves are perfect. I am very pleased with the service because even though the employee who assisted me was clearly baking beforehand, he did not rush or shoo me away. He was very friendly. I am a fan and I hope more folks check this bakery out. When I went it seemed they were only making breads. Not sure if they do other baked goods.

Want an example? Well, look no further than the high level of cuteness Snowman cookie we picked up. He had a marshmallow for a head, chocolate chips for eyes, and M&M for a mouth, and half a mini-Reese's Piece for a hat. Throw that creativity on a peanut butter cookie, add a blanket of snowy white vanilla frosting and you have a delicious and quite creative work of art. We also picked up a crunchy, and chewy Ranger White Chocolate Chip Cookie made from oats, Krispies, coconut, and white chocolate chips, and a conventional chocolate chip cookie. The cookies are large enough (well over four ounces) that we found them easily splitable, and they made a sweet tooth satisfying dessert. They have a very cool product line of cookies - including a cookie-brownie love child and a slew of stuffed "cookie bombs" that pack a gooey layer of yumminess inside the cookie. They have a nice mail order business, but if you visit the store, like we did, you'll find a big selection, a super sweet staff, and plenty of parking. And the icing on the proverbial cookie is this -- they also sell a line of those super-frozen Nitrogen blasted ice creams, shakes, and sundaes. to numb your aching sweet tooths. They'll be closed in January and will reopen in February, so make your Valentines Day cookie purchase plans now.

I had to check this place out after seeing their viral fruit pastries on TikTok. I asked the woman…read moreat the counter how long they've been open--she said three years--and the line was nearly out the door, so they're clearly doing well. That said, the experience was pretty confusing. There were photos of drinks on the wall but no pricing. The only thing I noticed with pricing was a Dubai chocolate drink listed for $30! They didn't have the fruit pastry flavors listed inside; we only noticed them posted outside on the window after we had already ordered, and the flavors online didn't exactly match what was in-store. The biggest shock was the price. The fruit pastries were $12-$15 each, which felt excessive. I've been to plenty of high-end spots for dessert, and this was easily the most expensive I've paid. When I asked about the pricing, I was told everything is made in-house--which I would expect at that price point anyway. I ended up getting the piña colada and mango fruit pastries, along with a passionfruit lemonade that was also $12. Everything tasted good and fresh, but quite sweet and, in my opinion, overpriced--especially for Meriden, CT. Overall, tasty, but not something I'd go back for given the cost and lack of clarity in the ordering experience.

First, a quick tip: their winter hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 12 PM-7 PM, so plan your visit accordingly. The menu is full of creative fruit drinks, pastries, and trendy desserts. They have flavors like strawberry, mango, passionfruit, piña colada, and even Dubai-style desserts that you see all over social media. On my visit I ordered three items: * Boba Strawberry Passionfruit Lemonade * Coconut Passionfruit Frappe * Dubai Sundae The coconut passionfruit frappe had the perfect consistency; smooth, creamy, and refreshing. The coconut and passionfruit flavors balanced each other perfectly and tasted very tropical. The boba strawberry passionfruit lemonade was also packed with flavor. It had fresh strawberry pieces, lemon slices, and passionfruit pulp. Just be careful of the lemon seeds. It even had a fun little surprise on top; a candy shark and what looked like Nerds candy, which made it extra playful. Inside, the shop gives off tropical island vibes. It's a small space but there is seating available. Today Friday the 13th, there were only two people ahead of me, music playing in the background, and a TV on. The wait wasn't long and the staff was very friendly and helpful. For the three items I spent about $45, but considering the fresh ingredients, presentation, and portion sizes, I would say the price is reasonable. If you enjoy colorful drinks, tropical flavors, and viral-style desserts, Paradise Frappe is definitely worth checking out.
