If you're looking for all things cheese and charcuterie, this is the store to go to in CT! They had a fantastic variety of charcuterie accompaniments, meats, cheeses, and even dessert! You'll find international products, as well as locally-sourced ones, like Luce's tomato sauce. We had one of their small charcuterie boxes and it was great! So happy to know about this store so we can shop local more often!

I just sent my second gift basket from Bon Appetit and my recipients were absolutely thrilled!! It was packed and wrapped just as requested. For the first basket, I took a look on their website and called and placed an order. This time I stopped by since I was only about 20 minutes away. What a wonderful shop full of gourmet delights for gifting or enjoying at home. There are some items you might find at Whole Foods, but I was blown away by all the unique products they have on hand. Plenty of international treats, too! There's a huge cheese case and I even sampled a few cheeses before making my choice. My basket also included Hanukah candies and cookies, snack crackers, candies, and more. I even took home a candle that was made locally. I'll definitely be back to try more of their delicacies!!

Gorgeous meat and charcuterie boards! This shop has an extensive variety of cheeses and other items perfect for entertaining or a special date night in. Reasonably priced and if you bring your own board they will create a beautiful custom order.

Bon Appetit was a outside my neck of the woods but by far well worth the trip. The store owner, Gina, and staff were not only knowledgable and friendly but equipped me with a kick ass cheese platter including Tete de moine, Roth monroe, Sartori Balsamic Bellavitano, Red Dragon English Cheddar with mustard seed to name a few in addition to sopressata and flambé raspberry preserves. Super Bowl comes but once a year and let's just say my Superbowl platter was the GOAT!

I have heard incredible things about the vibe and experience of actually going to their shop from many close friends, all fellow foodies, some which are even friends with the Caseus team. With their raves and my existing love for their grilled cheeses off the truck, my expectations could not have higher. I even held off my visit for just the right time so that I was in a good mindset to take it all in properly! Somehow, I'd say my expectations were surpassed. Upon entering the shop, I was immediately warmly welcomed. Very comfortable vibe. They have lots of provisions (justifying their name), including sauces, condiments, and more. They have a refrigerated case with house made desserts and a variety of cheeses, as well as an additional case of more specialty cheeses. Their menu has many brilliant grilled cheese creations, the option to build your own or customize any of theirs with additional toppings, and a rotating special. I have been thinking hard about what I would order when I finally made it in, and I still struggled. Luckily, the person helping me was super passionate, sweet and happy to help and offer information. They described their top picks, one of which was one of my top contenders, so that was the winner. The Berries & Creme. It is their classic grilled cheese with the addition of Brie and house made blueberry compote. I believe all of their grilled cheeses have the classic (their house blend of cheeses) as the base. I am not a Brie fan, at all. I wanted to give it a shot, and knew that there was not a better place to do that than Caseus. I can't rave enough about the person helping me. They assured me that it was balanced and not overpowering how they incorporated it in, so I was excited to give it a go. No experience with Caseus would be complete without their tomato soup. The 8 ounce cup is the perfect accompaniment, and just the right amount to both dip and have a little extra to savor on its own. I browsed the shops pile they prepared my sandwich, and couldn't resist a bread pudding. They had 2 kinds today: sticky toffee and bananas foster. I was leaning bananas foster, but asked their preference anyway. Bananas foster it was! When my grilled cheese was perfectly melty and ready, I took my lunch to one of the tables outside to enjoy it fresh. There isn't any indoor seating, which I appreciate actually. Much better flow to the space that way. The grilled cheese was probably the best one yet. It may actually be the first time I haven't built my own. This was absolutely delicious. Perfect execution. Lots of extra cheese crispies around the edges. Plenty of butter without being excessively greasy, a major turnoff for me. I can't tolerate the mouthfeel either, so I was extremely impressed with how they prepared it. This is where you want to whip out the term "sandwich artist", because they are just that. They put so much care, thought and love into what they do and each and every sandwich they serve. Every customer and their sandwich is just as important as the next. The sandwiches are accompanied by grainy mustard and a couple of cornichons. I even get excited for that part! I use every bit of that cup. The tomato soup is perfectly creamy without being too rich or heavy. They let the deep, fresh tomato flavor shine. They cook it just enough so that it's a deep developed flavor but still bright. There is not better tomato or grilled cheese. I devoured it all, and still, upon arriving to my car, cracked open the bread pudding for a taste. I loved that it was extremely moist without being wet or overly saucy/sugary/caramely. It didn't read super heavy, while still being satisfyingly sweet. Plenty of nuts and banana. Soft, well saturated bread. It was perfect as far as I'm concerned. Really impressed. Caseus is all about perfect execution, or at least as close to perfect as it can possibly get. They are masters of their craft, and you just feel so much joy from both your interactions. With them and their incredibly tasty food. I am so thrilled I made it to the shop, and know that now I won't be able to stay away. Definitely check them out as soon as possible if you have not. They are an incredibly special staple of the CT food scene.

The place is cute, the stairs at the entrance are lethal, so take care going in and out. There is a small seating area in front and no lot, but room to park on the street. I poked around a bit while I waited for my order, the cheeses were unique and pricey as they are at every cheese shop I've visited, I may be back for some.

The sever was really nice and patient. I got two scoops of ice cream, which was a lot, even when shared with my sister. The peach ice cream was delicious and the flavor was very refreshing. It had actual chunks of peach which I really enjoyed. I also got a scoop of butter pecan ice cream, which I personally don't think pairs the best with peach ice cream, so I'd probably get a scoop in a separate cup next time. However, on its own, the butter pecan is super nutty and creamy. In addition to ice cream, they also sell milk, yogurt, and cheese. I decided to get a quart of whole milk and it was very rich. The only issue was that even when the cap was fully sealed, some milk still leaked out of the side. I love that all the milk is produced at a local farm. I really want to try getting some of their butter next time.

Late July is peach season, and the sweet aroma of peaches blends beautifully with the natural richness of milk. The first taste is the sweet and sour peach, with fruit pieces bursting like popping boba, followed by a rich and mellow fruity aroma that instantly transports you to an orchard. All of this is built on a rich and natural milk base. Butter Pecan: A spontaneous choice. Overall, it's slightly salty within the milky flavor, with pecan nuts as a topping, making it a rather full-bodied one. Fortunately, it's not too sweet, so it's not cloying, and the slight saltiness adds a nice touch. I thought it was just okay, but my parents loved it. Sweet Cream Chocolate Chip: Apparently their signature flavor. The sweet cream wasn't actually too sweet, but the cream was very rich and fragrant; the real sweetness came from the chocolate chips, which burst in your mouth with every chew, and even just a sample was slightly cloying. The staff were very friendly, proactively offering recommendations and samples. Taking a break with ice cream while strolling around campus and the art gallery is definitely a great experience.

The steak is high quality and up there with the best places out there. It has a coarser texture. The melted cheese is well integrated with the steak. I'd like to see the grilled veggies better integrated into the mix though. They tend to be a bit separate on the sandwich. Also, the Chicken Chipotle Steak is even better than the Cheesesteak. It's so flavorful. I've had a bunch of things I like from Ray and Mike's. They're open early and have a good breakfast sandwich made to order. Their house roast turkey is good and has become a favorite of my wife. The one thing I think could be improved is the Italian combo sandwich and/or cold grinder construction in general. The meat could be cut a bit thinner on the Italian Combo, but it's quality meat. And they could construct cold grinders in a way I'd enjoy more. The grinder roll is cut open on one side and closed on the other. They first add all the veggie toppings and condiments and then they put folded over deli toppings on top of that. The result is that it's difficult to take bites that have both meat and toppings. If they added the meat first and wrapped it around the inside of the bread, and then added the veggies, you'd get a better distribution of the ingredients when you bite. There's no inside seating, but there are a few tables outside. The deli is really designed to be functional. So the decor isn't a selling point. Service has always been friendly. I recommend Ray and Mike's, but I'd recommend going with the cheesesteaks or Chipotle Chicken Steak or another hot sandwich, over something like the Italian Combo grinder. 4.25 Stars
