I went last night to get a gel manicure, pedicure, and wax my eyebrows and upper lip. Let me start by saying these people take FOREVER to do your nails and waxing. I didn't really have any issues with the pedicure, but the manicure took so long because the lady did one finger at a time. She also messed up one finger, but it was already 1 hour into the apt and I did not want to spend a lot more time redoing that nail. The waxing also took 30 mins to do my eyebrows and lip (it always takes the people I normally go to about 10-15 mins max?). What's worse, the lady who did my waxing burned the skin above and below my eyebrows, and also burned 4 parts of my upper lip. I don't even know how it happened...she did it so slowly... Needless to say, I will not be returning. I was asked to pay before getting the services done, so I tipped well, but really wish I didn't tip as well because of the time it took and the quality. read more

With my due date looming just 2 days away, one of my girlfriends suggested we go get pedicures. I have only had ONE pedicure prior to this one... Yup, I am not high maintenance in any way. So I don't have too much to compare this too but... I have to say, I LOVED LOVED LOVED my experience here! I went with the Lavender (Relaxing) Pedicure and it was fantastic! There were all sorts of scrubs and lotions massaged on my feet and lower legs. They have so many colors to choose from, it's almost hard to pick! I went with a nice new fall color by OPI called "Never Give Up", which I thought was appropriate with the up-coming labor and delivery. The 2 ladies that worked on my friend and I were VERY NICE! They seemed truly interested on how I was feeling with the whole pregnancy and all asking numerous questions. The massage chairs were nice- once I figured out how to work them. Haha. Some of the massage settings, were quite strong and almost uncomfortable... especially the ones under the behind! Ha!!! Cost-wise, I am not entirely sure what pedicures typically run. My friend got a regular pedicure (which isn't listed on the menu) and paid $25. My "deluxe" one was $40... Which, considering how long she spent on me, I thought was worth it! I didn't glance at the clock but I was still having my feet and legs worked on while my friend sat reading magazine for a good 20 minutes or more! I spent over $200 in this nail salon getting my daughter and I pedicures and manicures with S NM. And the young lady there cut my toes all the way down the side of both my big toes, my toenails were jagged, and my feet were scratchy as can be. I showed her a picture of my nails and the owner said that they could do it no problem and she said she could. However, she just did my nails black like I was emo or something. they were supposed to be an hombre and instead I got nails that aren't even black all over. Not that I wanted black nails at any rate. I had things I had to take care of so I was unable to complain that day and had to come back the next morning. The owner would not even acknowledge me let alone offered to repair the situation. I would advise against coming here because you're probably gonna get bad service and bad quality. Also, there could be blood involved if yoko does your nails. This was a total thumbs down. read more

I had been to Nails Tech once before, the male owner asked me, a young girl, to go get him Starbucks, and I did!!! I thought it would be a nice gesture and said why not. I was excited to take my mentor and my mom back there a couple months later to get our nails done for graduation. We scheduled an appointment and sat for 2 hours before they got to us. They started doing my nails and never got to my mom's. My mom said something, kindly, to the same male owner I got the Starbucks for and he never apologized, only his employees apologized. We left before they got to my mom and before they started my color and went to another nail salon. The whole experience just made me sad. read more

The BEST pedicure I've ever had! They really take their time and do things right. There are many pedicures to choose from. I got the peppermint pedi. It was relaxing and refreshing. I finished with a gel polish. I would highly recommend an appointment. They are always busy, but take the time to do things right. They offer free water, soda or wine with any service. Got messed up with the appointment and Johnny simply suggested a splitting schedule 3 hours apart, had been with them for the past 4-5 years and had just been prejudiced because of his preference, I made the appointment ahead with this lady the night before and she even suggested that I should go ahead with my schedule and yet he disregarded the suggestion of the nice lady. The worst. Tried this place so many times and it always is incredibly disappointing. They take forever, I spent 45 minutes waiting for a basic pedicure when I had an appointment. First s&s done by Andy was fab and I loved them! 2nd set was done by some other girl and barely lasted a week so I had them all taken off. I trien some glue on nails then decided after a couple weeks to gef another set but I requested Andy and was told he wasnt there anymore. The owner Johnny said he would do them but then he removed my nails after only letting them soak 5 min. I said wait please, let them soak longer. So I usually don't have time or care to write or read lengthy reviews so if you want the cliffs notes edition here ya go: abysmal service from beginning to end with no desire to get it right. Now if you want the pruest version.... Uggg it is very seldom that I even consider writing a poor review since so many times it's a one off because someone just had a bad day. That being said, 3 weeks ago I went to Nail Tech for the first time and livid with hideous looking nails! Having moved to Winston recently from a much larger city I knew that I would have to hunt for a salon that I would really like and I had tried several that left me whelmed, never mad, but still looking for that Cheers Bar of nail salons. My mom, daughter and I all went to Nail tech where we were met with a pretty brusk welcome at the front and no idea of how long the wait would be. They did however offer us a beverage, resulting in one of the stars I gave them. My daughters and moms manicure/pedicure were sub par and but they were sweet to my daughter which earned them the second star. And this is where the bottom fell out. All I was getting was a manicure and was debating between gel or SNS, having had both before. One technician heard me talking to another girl about it and jumped on the chance to do the SNS. Insistent that he was the best nail person in town I sat down with cautious optimism. But it went south quickly when he added tips despite my reservations, balked at cutting them as short as I wanted and over sanded my nails leaving serious ridges, overly thick application and uneven tips. As far as finding a color, he refused to mix any colors to create a light natural pink but instead insisted that the bubble gum Barbie pink that was going on would dry and lighten up which it most certainly did not. And the final kicker was that after all that, he never went back after the SNS cured to trim off any hangnails or add cuticle oil...no hand massage or anything. Now in their defense, I could have gotten up mid manicure and demanded a new tech but that was not my style and I really didn't want to embarrass the guy especially with kids around. But before I left I did approach one of the managers and sheepishly asked when I could come back to get them taken off if they continued to bug me because of the thickness, tips and color. Her response still makes me laugh out loud, "well wait as long as you can because it's expensive to get done." That sealed the deal...thank heaven the next salon was amazing and not only helped repair my nails with a great manicure, but it was cheaper! read more

Got a regular manicure and pedicure - the woman who did both was very nice but very rough. She made me bleed on two fingers while cutting my cuticles and left all my other nails feeling sore. She did not remove the excess polish around my toenails so later in the evening the polish began peeling off. I had to remove the polish myself the very same day. Definitely wish I had just stayed home instead. read more

I love getting my nails done at Nails Tech. I only go for pedicures and I like how much space they have in their salon, and especially how they use plastic covers for where you soak your feet. A basic pedicure is $25, which is very reasonable. They have a menu with different options for upgrades too. They offer you a free beverage to sip on while you have your nails done, like wine, sodas, and water. When you're done, they have a center area to dry your nails. They do get busy, so you might have to wait if you don't have an appointment. read more

UPDATE: I went in there and I was very angry but I did not want it to show. I waited my turn in line and said "excuse me, why have we been waiting for almost an hour and it's 5:00 and we've seen countless people come in and be seated and nobody has even updated us and we came in at 4:15 for our scheduled appointment" and again, the man in the glasses raised his voice at me and said "we are very busy right now" and I responded with "it does not matter if you are busy, appointments should be honored" and he replied "people are late to appointments do you want me to kick them out?!" (he is yelling at me this whole time causing a scene in the middle of the store). after he says this I ask him to not yell at me as I am a customer asking a simple question and yelling is disrespectful. He proceeded to apologize and then say that it was not his fault. I told him that he should have an honor code, if you are late to your appointment then that should not affect the other customers who were there on time. I then asked what he could do for us and he told us to wait 20 more minutes. I was shocked that he said that. He did not care that we were upset. I said "the only thing you're willing to do for us is make us wait for over an hour?" and he said "yes if you're willing to wait." I told him that it was absurd and that I needed to talk to my sister. He said that we were trying to get low prices. That's when I got really mad but kept my voice low as it looked awful on him to be yelling at a 16 year old girl, who did not match his angered tone and was being respectful. After he told me that I was trying to get low prices I pulled out the price book and opened it and pointed to the Odorless Acrylic that was $35. I told him that's what i asked for and he tried to charge me $50, so I was not asking for a low price. I told him the disrespect was not necessary as I had a right to be frustrated and he said all his nail techs were busy on pedicures. I told him that was not my fault and that was due to poor scheduling on his end. He got very upset I said that and when I triple checked there was nothing he could do for us ( not a single discount or apology for the wait, the only apology I got was when I told him he should not be yelling at me) I told him I was going to talk to my sister and we left. AWFUL. The fact we had an appointment scheduled at 4:15 and the time is currently 4:47 is the least of my concerns. It's the fact we watched numerous people walk in and tell the employees they had appointments for 4:30 and the employees proceeded to sit them down. It's the fact when we asked about prices they told us it would be $100 dollars for a simple gel manicure with a matte top coat (no tips or acrylic !!!) and an odorless acrylic set. their price book states that an odorless acrylic manicure is $35. When I showed this man the prices and questioned why it was $100, he began to have an attitude that I was right and it should not be $100 dollars. I asked him how much mine would be (the gel manicure, NO TIPS OR ACRYLIC) and he said $50 and I had to repeat myself 4 separate times that I did not want tips or acrylic and when he questioned me about it he says "tips yes or no" and I answered his question by saying "No tips or acrylic, just a gel manicure with a matte top coat." He then follows my response by saying (with an attitude and much disrespect) "WITH OR WITHOUT ACRYLIC" and I said "Sir, without." He then told me it would be $35 each and some extra for a design which I was then satisfied with, as that's what it should have been from the get go. He told us to go sit outside and wait to be called in. We have been sitting out here for over 40 minutes now as I'm ending this review and it's 4:56. Keep in mind I am a young girl and brought my little sister in with me as our dad wanted to treat us with getting our nails done. Just because we are young does not warrant them trying to scam us, nor ignoring and not honoring our 4:15 appointment. I do not want to be a Karen as the young girl who checked us in was incredibly kind. It was the middle aged man with glasses that gave us blatant disrespect and acted as if we were idiots. This is by far the best nail salon I've ever been to. All the nail technicians are both meticulous and kind, and they always offer you a beverage before your manicure or pedicure. I highly recommend Andy! My whole family always requests him because one, he gives great massages, and two, our nails always look 10 times better when he does it. read more

I have been going to Nails Tech for three years now. Johnny, the owner is very friendly and always remembers me and what I like to have done. The staff is friendly and courteous. The chairs are super comfy for pedis and there are several chair massage options. The place always seems immaculate- they sterilize their metal tools in one of those UV microwave thingys. (Definitely the correct scientific term here) You can choose between several types of pedicures off of the "menu" lavender, exfoliating, etc. Some of them come with a hot stone massage. They also offer regular and shellac manicures. They do an awesome job in the shellacs! This is the only place in town I go. It's four stars because sometimes you have to wait quite a bit, but that's just me being impatient. read more

**UPDATE: Three months later and I have still yet to have anyone contact me to inquire about my experience. As a manager myself this shows how little concern this establishment has for their customers. I'm not expecting nor asking for any type of compensation but a simple "We wanted to apologize for your experience" would have been nice. What a shame. Have always heard good things about this place but the couple of times I've went I have left very upset. My most recent visit was for a SNS manicure. Scheduled an appointment with two girlfriends for 6:30. Both of my girlfriends were being worked on as I sat with foil to remove my current nail polish for over 30 mins (not because it takes that long but because they shoved me in a corner and paid no attention to me). By the time the technician was starting on me, my girlfriends were out the door finished. I did not leave until 2 hours after my appointment. However, another woman walked in and was taken back immediately by another tech. Clearly she was a regular of his but I feel the earlier appointments that were still waiting should take priority. In addition, the tech I had cut me multiple times and when I began to bleed blamed it on "me washing my hands too roughly"... Now two days later my finger is painfully red and swollen, clearly a sign of infection. Oh and can't forget that all three of us were charged $40, when one of my girlfriends got an extra service of tips applied. Seems like a scam and the SNS prices aren't in the brochure...will never return and wish I hadn't wasted my hard earned money for an infected finger. read more

I love my nails and the spa pedicure is awesome! I am new to the area and came here a couple of weeks ago for my first time. There was a situation where a girl passed out and the owner Johnny handled the situation very professionally and called 911 immediately. There was a poor review given and it just was not true! If i could give this place a negative i would. i don't know the name of the lady i had. i just know that she had short red hair. $60 for a natural gel pedicure is insane when she cut 4!!!!! of my toes and had to hold pressure to 2 of them for 10 minutes for them to stop bleedi ng. then when i starter to flinch from straight pain it's like she got even more heavy handed. she threw my foot around and kept slamming the lamp onto my feet. i am in physical pain and also kind of worried that i may have my toe get infected if i am not careful. I have gone to this place for more than a year and for the first several months I was having a few different people do my nails. The nail technicians have a pretty varying set of skills with some being better than others. Cali, however, is the best nail technician I've ever met. She takes her time and finds out exactly what you want, down to shape and thickness (if you're doing SNS or acryllic). She takes her time and I have never gotten a manicure from her that I wasn't 100% satisfied with. That is really impressive, because even nail techs that I've liked before only sporadically did what I would call a "perfect" job. read more
