Terrible. Went in for a dip manicure. First, he started and was done with 2 coats of dip. Then he takes it all off bc he said it was bumpy bc of my nails... then instead of doing the color I asked, soft white, he said he needed to do regular white. Never felt more stressed out. Thought my nails were going to be ruined. But they turned out meh & The color wasn't even on all nails. But now, it's been 3 days and ones chipped already. Will never return. read more

12/6/19 - Okay I used to LOVE this place, but not anymore. I moved back to this side of town and I really wanted to love it here so before I wrote this review I came three different times. Basically Van (nail shop owner) is the ONLY good nail tech here. So if you don't make an appointment with him, you'll leave upset. I've tried to correct the lady that does my nails but she doesn't listen. She said twice it was my nail bed or my finger crooked. The shellac was chunky. I tried to tell her that and nope. Didn't listen. I gave up on my nails. The pedicures....I asked the lady to use the scrub thing on my heels. She said okay and just didn't. I asked twice and she didn't. Basically she just let me feet sit in water and massages them. Nothing else. Her polish skills were lackluster. Honestly I can't. I tried so hard to like this place but after three back to back lackluster experiences I just no longer can waste my money here. It's quiet here so it's relaxing but that's the only reason I gave it two stars instead of one. read more

Beware: Pedicure gave me severe infection! I got a pedicure last Sunday. By Monday I had visible redness and swelling around both of my big toes. Tuesday the swelling increased along with pain, throbbing and puss along the cuticles the tech dug into. I visited a doctor this morning and turns out I have a serious infection called Cellulitis. I was prescribed Clindamycin which is an antibiotic used to treat MRSA and Staph infections. I was told I would have to come back after 48 hours after starting antibiotics to have the puss drained from toes. I have probably had hundreds of pedicures and have never had any complications. The water was already drawn for me by the time I had selected my nail polish color. It's safe to say that either the foot bath basin was not cleaned properly or their tools were dirty. We've all been knicked when getting cuticles cut but there has to be bacteria there to enter the wounds and that's obviously what has happened. So my $30 pedicure with $8 tip cost me a $50 co-pay and $15 for my prescription... not to mention having to take off work, not being able to wear shoes because of the pain and the side effects along with the strong antibiotics. Just avoid this salon at all possible. read more

Although polish application was good, everything else tied to my pedicure was noticeably rushed - scrubbing and smoothing skin; cuticle care (mistakes happen but ouch --slow down when cutting). I asked the tech to skip the massage and hot stones so she wouldn't have to stay too long after closing time, but I'm not a fan when the quality of the main service is compromised. read more

I've been going here for a long time and have always had a great experience. I, like everyone else was afraid to go since the Corona 19 virus hit. I couldn't take my awful nails anymore and decided to take a look and see what measures they had put in place for protecting their nail techs and their clients. I was very impressed. They put up large shields between the client and the technician for the manicure area, everyone was wearing face masks and they were only using every other spa chair. In addition, it was clear the entire place had been scrubbed and sanitized. My nails look amazing and it felt good to go out and pamper myself a bit and not feel like I put myself at risk. read more

I made an appointment for dip nails. I ended up getting a pedicure for $20 as well, and the nails were $45. The dip nails were a little more pricey than most places, but the pedicure was inexpensive so it sort of evened out. The dip nails ended up looking great, but my manicurist (a man, I didn't catch his name) filed my skin off on almost every finger. It was the worst on my pinkies, and left ugly scabs. I asked him to be more careful, and he didn't even try, just kept filing my skin off. I was willing to maybe try this salon again despite the scabs from over-filing, however my nail broke off for no reason after only 4 days. I have had dip nails done elsewhere that have lasted for a month, no problem. I am extremely dissatisfied paying $45 for scabs and broken nails. $20 pedicure and no wait on a Friday afternoon? A rare site. Can't complain. The women are friendly and don't ask nosy questions like the Anjelah Johnson skit. They have a wide variety of OPI, China Glaze, and Essie colors. There's 6 pedicure chairs so I imagine it'd be perfect for a group. Manicures are $15 and the mani pedi combo is $30. The place itself is clean enough. They tore open a package for my tools, but reused the file and scrubbers. They use a cheese grater thing to really scrub your heels. The furniture is worn with a little bit of an ick factor, and looks like it's from the 90s but I don't really care because they get the job done. No beverage was offered but I expect that with such a low price. Parking may be tricky on a busy weekend. I heard there's over an hour wait on weekends. I'll be back! read more

Overall, this is pretty much the typical busy, mid-level nail salon. I would normally give a 3-4 to these types of places as long as the finished product is good. It was a lot of little things that made the experience sub-par. 1. My massage chair didn't work. Not the end of the world, but not ideal, especially when you know the cost of the chairs is built into the price you are paying for your nails. 2. My bill was upped by $5 (and I was not told up front) because they had to take off my shellac gel. Apparently this fee is waved if you had your shellac put on by them. 3. The girl doing my hands chastised me about 5 times about my nails. I'm there for a manicure, not a lecture. 4. I noticed that my foot bath was poorly cleaned before I used it. I wanted to say something, but felt uncomfortable. 5. Long wait (about 20 minutes), and of course they tell you "just a minute" every time you ask. I went here on my day off on Saturday for a Gel Mani Pedi. The women were very nice/professional. I had the mani/pedi done at the same time. I didn't recognize the gel polish name brand, but it looked good. They didn't have many colors to choose from in the gel/shellac department. For $70, I thought it was great! Unfortunately, Sunday morning, ONE DAY after, I unzipped my purse and my index finger gel peeled partly off! I was so annoyed as it flaked right off. Then, two more days go by and now half of the nails are now chipped or flaked. I went in there this evening at 6:30 to have this corrected. I don't have a normal 9-5 job and work ridiculous hours. Despite this, the short burly woman who is apparently in charge said that she wouldn't do it tonight (even though there was only 1 customer in the shop and at least 5 employees!) because "It would take 45 min!" So, to make a customer happy, they would have to stay an extra 15 minutes! I tried to explain to them that I work 80-100 hours/week and I don't have another day off until the end of the month. I tried to explain that I may not be able to return again during their business hours to have this fixed, so I asked for a refund. They stumpy lady refused, yelled at me, and said "Fine, I don't care." Absolutely terrible customer service. If you are not willing to stay 15 minutes to help a customer out then you shouldn't be in the industry of customer service. Will definitely never return. read more

I have finally found my go-to nail salon in Houston!! This is very exciting news for me. I can't believe how amazing the mani-pedi I got here was - for only $30! It included hot stones and a neck massage and really sweet service. I have to say my nail polish has chipped a bit in the past 5 days, but I think that's pretty good for a non-shellac manicure. My lady was incredibly thorough on my feet and made them feel so soft. I really wanted to like this nail salon, especially since I had been looking for a good spot close to the medical center and the place had excellent reviews. I was greeted somewhat roughly when I arrived. I didn't know if they stored their shellac and normal polishes in different areas, but was unable to get a clear answer from the lady at the front desk. There were no painted samples of the shellac out, so I had to guess from the bottle. My nails ended up being various lengths. The paint job was uneven, and my cuticles were a disaster. My nail tips were not filed until smooth and kept snagging on my clothes. The shellac started chipping after 8 days. Additionally, the place did not seem clean at all (the lady shook the nail clippings and scraped off polish onto the floor), and there were soap operas blaring on the television in the background. I really wanted this place to be my new spot for nail care. To start off, the salon did not look as clean as it should be. The gentleman who did my feet was attentive and did a decent job. Unfortunately, his services were overshadowed by the rudest nail lady I've ever met. She rushed me to pay and $86 with a tip for a mani/pedi with hot stones and eyebrows is not worth it. This lady rushed through my mani and didn't even get the dirt out from under my nails. I asked for clear polish and she tried to give me pink! I had to tell her twice, no thanks.She didn't do a good job on my eyebrows and argued with me about needing to pluck more hairs. I accidentally dropped my purse on my toe (no one helped me with it while going to the waxing room) and she argues about how to fix the nail. She just wanted to paint over it. me and another girlfriend came in on a sunday afternoon to get mani/pedis. my pedi was great, and the woman working on my feet was a perfectionist-- i could tell. my shellac manicure, however, is the worst shellac i've ever had done! when talking to the man who was working on my hands, he said to me he normally worked on fake nails and only comes on to do regular manis when they're in need of help, which they were as every chair was taking this particular afternoon. he made both of my ring finger cuticles bleed, i asked for a round shape and i got more of a lopsided square shape than anything, not to mention the application process was horrible. every shellac i've ever had done is applied precisely and perfectly and with perfect rounded corners at the bottom, never touching the cuticle. this one was ALL over the place, some touched cuticle, some were rugged. the best part of all is my left ring finger continued bleeding the rest of the day, and by day 3, my thumb had already cracked. i went in to get it fixed that same day, a wednesday, and i was expecting a full removal of the polish on my thumb followed by a complete reapplication. nope... she filed off some of the cracked polish, applied the color to the cracked area, coated it, and put it under the UV light and that was that... i would have preferred having a cracked thumb nail than what i had after that, a messy, uneven thumb. i'd like to try this place again, especially since my friend's shellac came out GORGEOUS looking and as far as i know she didn't get any cracks in her polish. not to mention my pedicure was the bomb. unfortunately, i'm too scared i'll get this man again and walk out with a shitty shellac job and bloody cuticles. i might just try it once more, because at $50 for shellac mani and regular pedi, it's one of the lower prices you'll find. read more

You might expect a place in this part of town to be expensive, but it actually one of the most affordable nail salons in Houston, and it is CLEAN! For $20, you get a beautiful pedicure with a hot stone massage, and you can get a mani/pedi for $30. I started going there in 2006, and even though I have cheated on them (Sorry!) it is still my favorite place, and I won't make the mistake of going elsewhere again! Their customer service is outstanding - I moved to Los Angeles and didn't go to the Nail Spa Co for more than two years - I went in to get a pedicure when I moved back to Houston, and the owner remembered my name and the car I drove.
