Im so sick of yelp deleting my review on how terrible my experience was at this salon. Yes I had a terrible experience here and did not get my money's worth. God knows what loop hole was used by the business to take it down. I'm going to keep posting in hopes of saving others from what I went through a day before my two week vacation. This place is HORRIBLEEEEEE AND JENNY'S NAILS SUCKS!!!!!' I went to Jenny last year for my birthday nails before the Cardi B hype and she did a good job so I went back this year. NOW, it is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE. I went there with regular nail polish on my regular nails, no acrylic, without time to take it off at home figuring she was just gonna remove it with nail polish remover. That was not the case. I showed up for my appointment on time and she had her teenage daughter start on my nails. WTF?? I paid my deposit and the nerve for someone else to do them?!! I decided to sit down and let it go and her daughter got out the electric filer to get off REGULAR nail polish after I told her my nails were thin and the filing hurts. She insisted and I had to sit there in pain while she filed away, making my nail thinner while she was on the phone the ENTIRE time. She then cut my nails to the skin and said it was better that way so the tips stay on (In all of my years of getting my nails done, I've never heard of this) She then put the tips on half ass and crooked and said "oh, they'll straighten once my mom shapes them" -rolled my eyes. Jenny did my nails in a rush, made my cuticle bleed (from more filing) and not even a week passed that the acrylic broke off and took THREE of my nails. I was out the country and had to suffer with painful bleeding nails that I paid almost $200 for. I will NEVER GO BACK and if I could I would give her and her daughter a piece of my mind. She should have never filed my nails and not only did I waste money, had to be in pain during my vacation but now have to wait months for my nails to grow back. I did a class with her and let me say her salon is very dirty I'm surprised OSHA hasn't shut her down. I was overcharged at the last minute (extra $20 for stickers that fell off within 2 days) watched several techs argue loudly and by the time I got home my pedicure was ruined, paint gone on one toe! Manicure was a little sloppy, areas had to be repeatedly cleaned up and scraped off even after going under the light and hardening. Took way too long for subpar work. $180 for GARBAGE!!! I will never do business JENNY again! I'll take my "not a lot of money" as SHE and HER daughter called it elsewhere. I made this account just to write a review on this place. Even after the abundant numbers of bad reviews I chose to give it a shot anyways; and I must say, I'm glad I did. It's in the hood. Don't go if you're not comfortable in the area. Jenny is GREAT! Funny and relatable woman. My nails came out POPPIN'. She works fast and efficiently. The only negative thing, I will say, is the wait time. Waiting a hour + especially with a late apt isn't ideal. But i was compensated. Can't complain too much. She does have an 80 dollar base fare; meaning that NO MATTER WHAT YOU GET (gel mani, fill in etc) IT WILL COST AT LEAST 80$. Don't have the money? Don't go. Great job, Jenny! read more

Nice but overrated So I went to Jenny in the Bronx for my birthday nails..... I use to go to this place when they were envy so wasn't thinking I was gonna spend more than 100 ..... well my nails alone were 175 and I don't remember how much was my pedicure. I always let them freestyle and I pick the colors and the design are always amazing! They take there time and it really is worth the price. Unsanitary...for a "celebrity" nail tech I just expect things to be pristine and for you to wash your hands and ask me to wash mine. 3. Unprofessional...I came here to have one person do my nails not to be tag teamed by two different people. 4. Lack of Skill/finesse....nails were bulky and thick. Residue on my fingers and acrylic under my nails. 3D flower was done poorly and was almost flat. Stones were shellacked on with gooey gel that should be used for a Gel set. 5. No Customer Service...worried about money and nothing but money. 6. Expensive...I don't mind paying what I was charged if numbers 1-5 didn't exist. I know you get what you pay for and I'm far from cheap but I didn't get what I paid for. And yes Jenny did my nails. I know people swear by her but I'm not sure why. She can use a lesson in business and humility. But people will continue to come here and that's their right but me?...never again. In the past I have been to this nail salon (commuting from NJ) to see either Billy or Jenny. Yesterday was kind of a last minute visit and I sat w who I believe is Billy and Jenny's daughter. I understand that she is a young girl but if you are old enough to do my nails then you are old enough to accept my review. I am not happy w my nails, most of my nails are misshaped, I asked her to reshape and fix bumps made w acrylic a few time and jus got frustrated and left. I was pealing acrylic off of my fingers for hours after I left and all of my nails had this weird bubble on one side of the nail only. On the way out I pay and Billy makes a snide remark about tipping. One thing about tipping in America is we tip for good service; not to simply be seated. My friend also wanted a full set and wasn't going to be seated until well after my nails were done. I mean does that even make sense to you? In the meanwhile, they hired some local hustler to sit in there and harass the women for nutcracker sales (yea he pushes his nutcrackers on you while u wait) and conversation (he won't stfu) while they wait for their nails to get done. I said fall colors and design and she exceeded my expectations. In all I love how she was honest concise and great conversationalist not just about her hard work and efforts but also she asked me about who I was and made sure that I was comfortable as well as making sure that I enjoyed my experience at her salon. Buzzing nail spots in Harlem ain't so new, but ones close to 148th--new! This spot was busy on 12/23 though the wait wasn't long--about 15 min. The smell inside was very strong. I believe that acrylics are more popular in Harlem NYC than in the Bay, and the "liquid" gives off a very pungent odor I am not used to. Nonetheless, I got my gel nails done and they were done extremely well. The technician used a technique that is used with acrylics so at first the nails looked like pretty little gum drops. There was some curvature, but it was artful and they have grown out nicely. After 3 weeks, there is no separation from my nails. Wow! Also, they had a great color selection and it's nice when a nail spot sells water and iced tea for cheap. I would go back for certain. read more
