Tech didn't trim or push my cuticles back so my Gel manicure looked grown out almost immediately

Vacationing in the area, I wanted to treat myself to a long overdue manicure. Only 2 techs were working the day I went in. The salon seemed clean and well maintained. Unfortunately the service I received was sub-par. It all started with the tech literally throwing gel colors in my lap, asking me to pick my color. I hadn't had time to get a manicure for 5 weeks so I'd been applying layers of regular polish on top of my last gel manicure so my nails would look ok until I could get them done. I explained to the tech that I had regular polish on my nails that could be removed with acetone and then she'd see where the gel polish was. But she couldn't be bothered with the extra step to remove regular polish and instead went to town using her electric dremel. But she didn't know where the gel polish actually stopped and regular polish started so it turned out she was using the dremel on the part of my nail that only had regular polish. It felt so hot and hurt my nails! I tried to explain that it hurt and that I was concerned the dremel was hitting and ruining my nail. But she just huffed and puffed with irritation and continued. The one other customer and I exchanged concerning glances often throughout this process. She put my nails in to soak. Then, much to my dismay, she began MANUALLY PEELING off my gel polish! Heck I could have done this myself. But we don't remove gel this way because it damages the nail! I begged her to stop - she and the male tech spoke in their language - and she continued. I just wanted to get polish back on my nails and be done with this. Her remaining work was sub-par. She barely trimmed my cuticles and, because she didn't push my cuticles back at all, she couldn't reapply polish close to the skin / cuticle. Hence the photo shows how grown out my nails look after only ONE WEEK since my horrid manicure. When all was said and done, I was in and out in only 30 mins! A good gel manicure, properly removing and reapplying polish, should take about 50 mins. If you're looking for a gel manicure that will still look great one week later, and you want to feel pampered, and have your concerns heard, this is not the place. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

I came in for a full set with a photo in mind & Tammy did a great job. I also have really thin & sensitive nails & she took this into consideration & modified the service for this reason. I would recommend her to anyone. Really kind people in there as well.

Acrylics with gel

I needed to update this review because my favorites Tammy and Kevin are at a new location called GV nails!! It is only about one minute south of Nails Etc. They are worth following! GV nails is behind Circle K and next to a bike shop off of la Canada near Duval mine in Green Valley.

I went to this salon for many years. They have lost their trusted techs. I tried a new guy and got the worst manicure of my life.

The customer service could be better. Compared to other nail salons in Sahuarita / GV, this one is subpar, in my opinion.

I wish I would have taken before and after pictures. But I was preoccupied with my elderly dad. I…read morecalled the day before to make an appointment and was sure to ask if they did elderly feet in desperate need of attention. They assured me they did. The kindness and care they showed brought tears to my eyes. They were so patient and didn't make him feel embarrassed about how bad his feet were. They are under new management so give them a try. Family friendly. I already booked his next appointment!

Pat McCarthy Quail Creek…read more· Just now · I normally don't publish dissatisfaction with businesses unless I really received poor customer service but I wish to share my bad experience with Elysian Nail & Spa's employee, Tyler. I had a basic manicure on Saturday with this technician and upon arriving home, some of the polish was bubbling and a few nails had blemishes on them. I was careful after he was finished and stayed long enough for the manicure to dry but he did put a very thick layer of overcoat on the nails to "protect" them. He seemed in a rush and left me at the station to allow time for drying my nails, but like I said, after ample time, several hours later I had blemishes on the nails. I returned to the salon and in sharing my concerns, Tyler went ballistic and told me regular nail polish doesn't last. I hate gels. He insisted this was my problem, but he would redo them just this one time. He proceeded to coat over the blemished nails and reapply more thick top coating and I waited another one-half hour for them to dry and again, makiang the blemishes even more apparent. I had my pedicure there with another technician and she was wonderful. Needless to say, I would not recommend Tyler. He only seems to want to do gel, acrylic or powder nails, none of which are healthy for your nails. I did want to mention that Anna did my pedicure and she was great. I would have used her except she doesn't work Saturdays. Post Insight

This was my 2nd time here and both times have had much needed (read overdue and in bad shape) mani…read morepedi and have been very pleased . Today Lucas did a thorough and callous removal pedi and did good work shaping and polishing . The young gal who did my mani in place in the pedi chair also took time and finished nicely. I was a walk in and my expectations were exceeded. I am very spoiled with Southern California pricing so $47 was about $20 higher for me but that is the going rate here in the AZ so be it .

I wish I had a picture of how unprofessional my nails were done, but they fell off within 2 hours…read moreof getting them done. I walked in to them across the store on their phones, stood at the front for 5 minutes, and very loudly had to address them to be serviced. I got acrylics that most nail artists (even beginners) should be able to do. 3 plain nails and the other two with a french tip and a star design. I don't remember who it was (I think Kimberley) but she roughly cut and filed my nails, causing them to go red and the ends look like they were ripped off. She trimmed my cuticles and ended up ripping them out so hard my nails were bleeding. Halfway through was the first time they mentioned that they could only take cash. I was visiting from out of state, so I didn't have cash on me. Anyways, the nails were also cut uneven and at different lengths. The person I went with had them cut so poorly they're shorter than her actual nails and has been cut multiple times. The french tips were off center and also poorly painted on. We figured, oh well, you win some and you lose some. Mine were 80$ and the design I wanted wasn't even complete. She couldn't do the star so I pivoted to a diamond. I explained it, drew it on paper, on my nail, and pulled up multiple pictures and she couldn't figure it out. It ended up being a circle with lines. It looked juvenile so I decided to just have the french tips. Also, she put polish underneath the nails after scratching them like you're supposed to assist in adhering to the nails after scratching. The polish completely voids that because it creates a smooth surface that the glue can't hold to. We left and I took a nap because of jet lag and when I woke up 3 of them were loose and then I moved my hand and they came right off. How does that happen? I wear press ons stronger. Within 10 minutes all but one was off, and all I did was stand up and show someone they came off. The final one came off in the car and left my nail red for hours. By then it was closed and I had an appointment the next morning. We went in and asked for a refund. They refused despite the onslaught faced. Their manager said no and they called the owner who was overseas who said absolutely not. It was either getting them redone or a gift card. We're leaving town so we don't have time or opportunity to use the card. "Give it to family or friends" Why would they want to get their nails done here? We spent 20 minutes trying to get a refund and finally settled on the gift card since it wasn't worth the time. And they took the nails (I collected all of them since they came off so quickly, they didn't get lost) so I couldn't even put them back on like drug store press ons. 80$ nails and I don't even get to keep the mediocre nails that took over an hour. (Honestly not sure I'd want to wear them though)
