But Bettendorf women tend to be a little snooty and stick there nose up in the air if you breathe towards them anyways. So I walked into this salon after not having had my nails done for some time, for a wedding. (I use to get dip done every three weeks, and before that I had acrylic and gel polish typically... so not new to getting my nails done.) I was put with a new graduate, a local PV graduate. To say my experience was bad, doesn't really cover it. After getting my nails redone a couple weeks later somewhere else, that is when I decided to leave this review, realizing just how awful it was. One star is for the interior. It's a very clean and updated decor. The other is for the owner, that sort of tried to make it right... I got tips and dip. I started out thinking I wanted a French manicure. But the ridge of the tips showed in the pink. So I did chrome hoping it would help. But when I went to check out, looking at the awful shaping and appearance in general, I told them I really wasn't happy. Many of my nails were wider at the top than at the base... they were not smooth on the sides, and they just just looked pretty awful. So they put me with one of their other people to reshape. Which meant removing the polish and chrome... they were shaped wide at the tips, and the corners (I was asking for squares shaping) were longer than the centers. When I pointed it out, they literally looked at them and didn't understand. The lady next to me was saying. Yep-I see it. And my thumbs were noticeably crooked at the ends. Full on slant. Oh and the base of the nails were thinner and they got thicker at the tips-not natural at all. Since I had already been there over two hours for a pedicure and trying to get my manicure presentable, I asked they just polish my hands the same as my toes, so I could go. Honestly I still was not thrilled.they were slightly better, but not the look I had planned on at all... But I get to the register, and they charged me for the chrome that had to be taken off, and I don't even know what else. It was $137 before the tip for a pedicure with polish (not gel), and dip with tips, VERY poorly done. By comparison, i went to another salon two weeks later before a vacation, with AMAZING service, beautifully shaped nails, and gel on both hands and toes, and additional design work (ombré glitter AND rhinestones), and it was $20 cheaper before tip!! The interior just as tasteful, service 1000% better overall. I will never set foot in Nails De Vie again... while the owner sort of seemed to want to make things right, he also seemed slightly annoyed, and unaffected by letting such a poor looking service walk out the does read more

Love this salon for more reasons than how my nails turn out. My mom has Alzheimer's and this is one of the few places she remembers. They take such great care of her, kind, compassionate and going above and beyond to make sure she is well taken care of. I was in town from Milwaukee and desperately needed a pedicure. My feet were way overdue. I found this salon via Yelp. When I walked in, the salon looked clean, nicely decorated and was fairly busy. To me, that's a good sign! Kevin was my designated nail technician. He offered me something to drink which I thought was a nice touch. He was very gentle with my feet. I appreciated that! Part of the pedicure is a leg massage. It was nice but almost too long. I was definitely on the verge of falling asleep. LOL I was glad to see they used sterilized tools - especially in this day and age. He trimmed my toenails - but didn't file them on the corners. That's the only thing that was a little disappointing. Nails De Vie is one of the nicest nail salons in the Quad Cities. #1 thing? CLEAN!! I loved that I could see my tech was literally disinfecting the equipment by spritzing it with rubbing alcohol immediately before each use, and that they use clean liners in their foot basins. Her nail station was neatly organized. I actually felt like my tech spent more time on this than most other places which I loved! The only thing that would have been nice to have is a drying area to let my toes dry before heading out. My sister inlaw and I went to Nails De Vie today for our pedicures, the girl who took care of my sister inlaw was great, the girl who "took care" of me, not so great. I can not even say she did a decent job, or even cared if she did or not. She refused to massage my calves (one of the steps to a pedicure) she bared rubbed my feet. She spoke very rudely and and dismissive to me, then refused to do the easy design I wanted (Polish with a silver line going across the top). I ended up walking out very disappointed and $46 less in my wallet. I will not be going back. I spoke to the manager as I was paying, all he said was: I'm sorry to hear that, then he took my money. This is my favorite nail salon in the area. It's pricier than others I've visited, but it's become the only salon I prefer to go to. I've found my favorite person to do my manicures, and when I leave, I am so happy with the job she does. Admittedly, I've been ok with the other people working there too, but she's the best, and I always request her when I make an appointment. On that topic, you really do need an appointment. Maybe you'd get lucky and get a walk-in, but honestly I've never been there when that was likely... They tend to be full when I'm there. You get a drink while you're there...ranging from soft drinks to wine... Saturdays they have mimosas as well. For spa pedicures, they have three different types to choose from, which really just varies in what kind of extra treatments you get on top of the regular stuff. The place is clean and attractive, and the people are really friendly. I get so many compliments on my nails, which is not something I'm always able to say when I visit other salons. Worst experience I have ever had in a nail salon. The owner is a great guy and helped me once when I had a broken nail. I went to the shop for a full set, and the technician not only ruined my nails, but she BLED on me. She had an open cut that was not covered. Then she short changed me $11.00. I highly suggest that anyone who even considers going to this shop reconsider, or make sure that you only go to the owner or his wife. It was a little busy but they were very nice about informing me that it would be a wait and I didn't feel like they rushed through my nails. Sadly I won't be returning, although I have had great experiences there previous to today's visit. Just spent 20 minutes at home Cleaning up my gel manicure. Red polish all over my cuticles and the nails were not cut shorter as I had asked. I should've said something then but the vibe there was that I was a burden. I spent $65 on a mani/pedi because the sugar scrub and hot towel are extra. Extra. She also used only a scrubber on my feet, so the pedi was a wash. I'll be looking for a new nail salon. read more

I had my nails done by Jordan and I got a mix between almond shape and stiletto. I'm not normally someone that wears my nails longer so I also wanted them a bit shorter then your classic stiletto nails. She did perfect. All were even and looked great.
