Not only is Ploy rude, she ruined my nails in the 2 times I did my nails with her. Besides that, my gel manicure lasted 2 days before 4 nails chipped. On my first visit I gave her the benefit of the doubt in regards to her awful attitude and overall demeanor and figured she just had a bad day. On my second visit she was equally rude and unpleasant to be around so this is just her personality. Everything seems to bother her and she does not want to converse in any capacity or even make eye contact for that matter. She wants you in and out of there as fast as possible and rushes through everything including removing the gel from your previous manicure. She doesn't let the acetone cotton balls soak on the nails long enough so she uses the grinding machine typically used when you get acrylic nails to grind off any remaining gel to the point that it hurts. This leaves your natural nails thin and brittle. She does not ask you how you want your nails shaped and if you dare speak to her to try to tell her, you will get the look of death. On my second visit I opted for French which she charges $8 extra for. On day 2 three of my nails had chips and one had completely broken off because of how soft my nails were (see photos). Been doing gel for 5 years and this has never happened to me. By day 5 they all had lines in them looking like the nail paint is cracking. She is located in a dumpy shopping center and shares an entrance with an asian massage place. Masks are required, not optional. Honestly if I had the option to give no stars I would, First experience I ever had with her I was running a lil behind. I called ahead to let Ploy know I was running late and she said it was okay. I get there and while she's doing my nails she says please don't be late again in front of another client. Mind you I was only 5 minutes late and I chose my nail polish super fast. I let it be, honestly I can imagine it's stressful when clients don't sardine on time and I get that. Anyways my gel manicure didnt really last it's started to crack after the third day. Second encounter, two weeks later I go again this time with my daughter who has not yet turned two. I get to the appointment way earlier to make sure I choose the color before my appointment. She immediately is unpleased to see my daughter. Mind you she stayed in her stroller the entire time. She expresses how displeased she is and explains how she doesn't normally allow children. Mind you she has a kids mani and pedi (for under 10 years old on her pricing list). I then explained that I don't have anyone to take care of my daughter at the moment and that day was the only day to get my hands and feet done. She then says it's okay and continues to do my hands and feet. Third and last encounter, I arrive and again I take my daughter. Who is in her stroller.... But as I open the door and yells across the room " this is the last time I allow you to bring your child, the bureau isn't allowing children in salons and if they do an inspection, I can get in trouble and I told you last time that she's not allowed to come her. ( she said all of this while doing another clients feet) I reply, I don't have anyone to take care of her at the moment, does this mean I can't come anymore? She then says it's okay pick a color. As she's doing my nails she tells me how she doesn't want to lie to me and tells me how she's feel better if my daughter wore a mask and was a lil older. Ummm okay. By law she doesn't have to wear a mask yet. By law In the state of Florida Im not doing anything illegal. Then my daughter decides to let the phone she was playing with slip from her hands to the floor. Ploy then starts to reprimand my daughter saying, " now you in time out, no throwing things, now your in trouble and you don't get the phone back." At the end when I was ready to leave my daughter is saying bye to her and not once did she look at her. She was too busy on her phone. I gave her three tries. Unfortunately she's very unprofessional and very rude. I completely understand that this is her nail salon, but no one is in there without a mask. My daughter is in her stroller and she not running around touching things. I honestly just believe that she just doesn't like kids. Point is I would probably go back if she would have treated me and my daughter nicer. But she didn't, therefore I refuse to go back and give business to a person who I feel treated me and my daughter with Disrespect. I feel insulted, I don't give bad reviews. I came across Ploy If you months ago doing a Google search when I needed a new nail spot who would take appointments. I've already been probably four times, and hands down, she is my nail lady. I get a gel Mani and regular petty for $30 every 2 to 3 weeks. I've had experience in the past where at my nails become very thin due to the gel removal, but Ploy's technique is flawless. She is super quick, I'm usually in and out in one hour, and totally satisfied with the final result. I still have an experienced a chip, and when I go back it's because my nails grow faster than a pregnant ladies and that growth gap dries me nuts. She's constantly getting in new colors and has all of the shades you could want. I've only had my nails done, but I know she does Lash and brow services as well. There was a girl leaving that just had her lashes done as I was going in one evening, and they were perfect. Don't let the location deter you. Is it a luxury day spa, no. She was rude when i walked in bc I was 5mins late and told me to hurry up and pick a color bc she had another client coming after me. I offered to leave so she wouldn't be late... she declined. She sat in silence and did my gel mani, I'm not a big talker so I normally wouldn't mind but she always has some convo when I'm there. I could tell this was her being passive since she would smile and talk when her other customer came in. She started the mani so far back from the cuticle that they already look grown out and it was a fresh mani. During the manicure she snapped at me bc i took my hand out of the dryer and told me that's why people complain that their gel is chipped. Well I've never had this happen but you can't talk to people like that, Ploy. This gel mani is lumpy and bumpy, but that's probly somehow my fault too. During the pedicure I told her the polish was uneven and had streaks and she didn't acknowledge me at all. Fast forward, this gel mani is a week old and looks like I've had it for 3weeks already. I almost hate to review, afraid that Ploy might get too busy. I've been a regular for about a year. I try to stretch my appointments out to 2.5 weeks. During the typical 2 week gel run, with Ploy I have never had a chip, a bubble, a drip mark, not a peeled off nail. I haven't had irritated overly-cut cuticles, nor little rips nearby nearby the nail-bed like I've gotten at other places. I can make an appointment, easily find parking behind the building, and there's an elevator to take you up to the 2nd floor. I have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen, and am out of there in 45-60 minutes. Ploy's husband has a beauty supply store, so her available polish selections are incredible. She has all kinds of cleaning and sterilization gadgets that she uses constantly. Her massage chairs are great. Quirks? It's cash only. Next: Don't be late. She runs a very tight schedule, so your "5 minutes late" definitely screws up the next person's visit. (She might skip the next person's little leg massage to get back on schedule, or have to skip out on her lunch. In a one-person show, being on time actually matters.) Next, Ploy is unvaccinated and extremely covid conscious. I saw one negative reviewer actually complaining that she and her young kid were told to wear masks. Yup. If you have a cold or even a bad cough, don't go. If you don't want to wear a mask, don't go. If you don't want to wash your hands, don't go. If you don't like a plexiglass barrier, don't go. Personally, I really appreciate that my time is never wasted waiting to be seen, that I'm not going to catch covid from Ploy nor from the person before me, and I love that I get out so fast to finish up my day. Truly disappointed. I did the nail dipping powder and she did such a sloppy job. I had marks and air bubbles all over my nails then when I told her about them she got passive aggressive and mad. I'm sorry but if you can't do them correctly don't get mad at the customers when they don't leave happy with your work. She was mad and annoyed I wasn't happy with her messy work so as she was fixing them she would work on my nails really aggressively that caused them to be sore. I went today for the first time and I wanted to wait until I went to her about 2-3 more times but I just can't hold it in. As I thought about it, there were just so many things I appreciated during my appointment. 1. She's quick. I have a somewhat limited schedule. I did a gel mani and reg pedi which she did in around 45 minutes, less than an hour...and everything came out perfect!! I am so obsessed with my nails right now. 2. Quiet ambience. Even though she was SUPER sweet to me and even treated me as if I've been with her for years, this quiet little space is so peaceful. We did talk a good amount throughout my appointment, but she was also focused on what she was doing. She also had a movie playing on the TV which I got really into - I even went to search it and finished it when I got back home lol 3. Massage chairs! Really put the cherry on top for me with that one, it's also probably the best massage chair I've sat on! 4. I never EVER leave a negative review on anything but I feel like I had to share my experiences. I have gone to Ploy a total of 4 times, each time it felt like I was in trouble vs enjoying the mani/pedi. If I put my feet in the water, not knowing that she wasn't done cleaning my feet, she would always give me a look and attitude. For any little thing. The pedicures never came out well but I would still go to her because the prices were better and she works FAST. BUT, a few days ago I was getting a pedicure and told her that maybe we should change the color because the polish would not smooth out, the bottle also looked old. She just got upset and asked me if I wanted to go somewhere else since I don't like it, I kept telling her that it's not her, its the polish. She ignored me and continued on using the polish. After that, anything she did she would condescendingly ask me "is this okay", multiple times. I'm not understanding why I was treated so poorly. She was rude, and passive aggressive over me asking her kindly to please use another polish. She didn't charge me for the service and just told me to leave, and started working on someone else. I tried Nails by Ploy on Wednesday and at first I was a bit skeptical since some people had said they did not sterilize their equipment. Regardless, I gave it a try and I am SO GLAD I did! I love this place. It's by appointment only and they have two workers including the owner. Both were very sweet and they started as soon as I got there. The place is cozy and very relaxing plus the color selection was huge. They did a great job trimming my nails and cutting my cuticles, my hand and feet look soooo good! I guess I should mention I have terrible feet, because I'm a runner. At best, my feet are calloused, and at worst, they are downright gnarly. Also, I have tiny nail beds on both my hands and my feet, which makes them super difficult to paint without making a giant mess. In comes Ploy. This lady is a pro: quick, neat, and gentle. She gave me movie star feet in no time. She was incredibly sweet and helpful, and she didn't scold me for my horrible cuticle growth. The place is cozy and impeccably clean, plus quaint little touches, like adorable Hello Kitty bowls to soak your nails, make the whole experience a bit extra special. I'm writing this six days later, and my manicure is still intact; not an evil chip in sight. Plus, all this for only $19.00. Sold! After a failed attempt at booking at another salon through a Groupon discount, I did a last minute search on Yelp for a cheap but good place to get a Shellac mani and regular pedi near my home in Miami. And wow have I never been more impressed. She was easily able to book me and a friend even though it was only by herself in her salon which was very nice and accommodating of her. Her place is somewhat hard to find, but to make it easy, it is on the second floor and it says "Nail Spa" with her phone number on it. Her little room is very quaint and cute! I loved the decor. She did an excellent job of buffing and shaping my nails. She was at times a bit rough and left me with somewhat sore skin around my nails (granted, my bad since I should've spoken up), but the end result was great! She took off all the dead skin very quickly. She has the LARGEST selection of nail polishes that I've ever seen, a huge PLUS!!! other salons have always had a somewhat limited selection when it came to gel/shellac colors, but this lady truly does have them all. My friend got a regular mani pedi for $19 (a steal!!) and I got a Shellac mani with regular pedi for $40. Best deals ever. The ONLY complaint I have is that my pedicure was not thoroughly dried yet, and unfortunately the polish on my toes smudged :'( hence the one star taken off for not making sure my polish was dry enough before letting me go.
