I have never been to this place before but i figured I would try it. I needed my eyebrows done and did not have time to go to my usual spot. The staff was very nice and the salon was clean. However I was not pleased. I went to get my brows waxed. The wax was too hot and my eyelids are really scared and tender. The young lady was nice but she needs more practice on brows. I am severly displease with the turn out. I paid for my brows and left a dollar tip however it was not visible to the next day how badly I was burned by the wax. I will not be back. read more

Good place for pedicure and mani but not my favorite for dip powder nails. I used to always come here for a mani pedi and then finally decided to try dip powder nails. I didn't know any better and whatever they did I thought was okay. It became a constant problem that they didn't have that many colors to choose from and once on, the colors did not look like the one in the samples. I ended up trying other nail salons and noticed a HUGE difference with the nails such as the thickness of the way the powder was applied, shape, color selections and just ended up going to another salon. I've had people who come here for acrylic who love it, I really did enjoy the mani pedi and the kindness of the ladies who worked there but for nexgen there are other places who do a much better job for the price. read more

This little place is friendly and sanitary. They have a couple mani pedi options as well as gel and nex gen nails. Nancy was friendly and helpful. I was able to get started immediately which was nice since time is always of the essence. They use the plastic lining in the pedicure chairs, which I tend to like. It just make it feel that much more sanitary. (and who wants to get foot fungus!) Overall, they did a wonderful job on my French shellac and my pedicure was awesome. I wish they did a better job on the hand massage but the foot technique was great. I will definitely be back! This place does punch cards as well. read more

I was in the area for work today and wanted to get my nails done. Based on the yelp reviews, I picked Nail's Star and overall, I am pleased with the result. I walked in w/out an appt and was able to get seen right away (around 4:30pm). I got the classic pedi + shellac mani ($50; great value compared to what I'm used to in Chicago). The staff were all friendly and I was offered a bottle of water when I arrived. Nancy did both m/p and was thorough and friendly. I did feel that she was rushing a bit, especially with the mani, but overall my nails look great. This is also the first salon where I've seen them use two UV dryers at the same time (so that both of your hands can dry simultaneously). So, it was the quickest shellac mani I've ever gotten! I had an appointment this morning and I was completely disappointed. To start off the dress code was unprofessional to the point that I can see cheeks and all the cleavage no one wants to see that. Just touched down in Dallas for the Thanksgiving Game and me and my Mom needed our nails/feet done. Went to go to the Enterprise for the Rental asked what's the best and nearest Nail shop, a Lady said Nail Star on Belt Line Rd in Addison, Tx, she said ask for Nathan. So as soon as we got inside the shop they were so welcoming, give you water, and they take good care of you!!! The Star Deluxe Pedi was AWESOME!!! And the Mani was great too. This place was convenient for me when i worked in the area, but after my experience this weekend i will not be returning!!! ROMEO is the only man in the shop he is very rude and disrespectful. I went with a friend to get a set and a color change on my toes in the process of doing my nails Romeo stopped to rub on a ladies feet that came in after me. He then finished my nails and sent me to the station to get my color change on my feet after patiently waiting next to my friend that was getting a pedi by Nancy (she is a sweetheart) I was never serviced. I complained at the check out and he was pretending apologetic like he was unaware but I didn't understand how people that came in after me were able to get service and I was left unattended for soooo long. read more

Been coming here for years and I loved the service when Nathan was running the place. He's been MIA for the past few months and my opinion is rapidly fading. I still only allow one lady, Tina, to touch my hands (a little less picky about my toes) and she still does an AMAZING job. However, there have been several upgrades in the facility, which are appreciated, but I believe they are passing those expenses onto the customer. My total bill for a mani-pedi usually runs me from $65-$70. I just recently visited this week and was charged nearly $90 after tip. There was an upgrade charge for coffin nails (my forever shape)...no matter the shape, you still have to file my nails so why am I being charged extra. I grow my own nails and use the dipping powder for color. One broke and in the pass they have graciously added a tip at no charge...not anymore...$5 additional. I will be looking for a new location to take my business. This is no way to treat loyal customers but they are all new so they don't know anything about loyalty. read more

The technicians do a really good job, the place is clean and comfy. My husband and I both got mani-pedis with a buff shine, no polish to remove or put on. When we checked out the man would not tell my husband the total and was about to swipe his card when I pulled out my $10 off punch card. We came in on a Monday and the sign says that Mani-Pedi is $30 during the week. The man then proceeded to tell me even with the $10 off punch card that we owed $55 because it is more expensive for a man's pedicure (I was expecting to see a price of $50 which would be 2 mani-pedis at $30 each, minus the $10 punch card). Nowhere on their price list does it state that a man's pedicure will cost $5 more. I did not see them doing any more work on him than the lady next to me. Also we tip well for good service (which we did have). It feels underhanded to be told a higher price than advertised after I pull out my $10 off loyalty rewards card. The 2 stars is not for the service, but for feeling taken advantage of. Next time I will take my business to a more honest business. read more

Nail Star is a great no frills family owned nail salon. They came under new management/ownership sometime between 2014/2015 so do not let some of the negative/older reviews scare you. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I have been a customer for years because I work nearby. I go in on my lunch break and they always try to expedite my visit so I can be back to work on time. My mother is now a repeat customer because they accommodate her special needs (assist her in getting in and out of the pedicure chairs - she is 70 and has a disability). Here's what you need to know: This is not a spa. They have spa style treatments but they do not offer wine/margaritas. If you care about decor, don't bother. They try to stay up on the newer trends but do not yet offer threading. They do offer Nex Gen, Shellac, etc. They do offer OPI and some other major nail color brands and have recently changed their display. They will also order in colors/brands if you request them and they know you will be coming back. They offer wax services but only have one room for those services. If you get your eyebrows done be sure to specify how thick or thin you like them. They have 5 or 6 pedicure chairs that are older models and some of the massage features don't work as well on some of the chairs. Keep in mind this is a family owned place that is really inexpensive so that's why they don't have new chairs. They have a large flat screen TV connected to Netflix. They take requests if you want to watch something different from what is currently playing so just let them know. If you want/need something special - ask. They will happily help. If you don't like something, ask them to redo it. They will fix it. This place is affordable, sanitary, and efficient. It's the best bang for your buck. They also offer a punch card reward program. Once they get to know you they start to know your preferences and do their best to ensure you have the best experience every time. Nancy is one of the most kind and reliable techs there and she always takes care of my mom. Every time I go in she even asks me how my mom is doing. I usually rotate through the staff. Some have stronger talents at one thing or another so I recommend trying a few before settling on one in particular. There is a girl trained in foot reflexology you can ask about. She does a great job if that's what you are after. Give this place a chance. You're mani/pedi will look awesome and you'll leave with a smile. read more

I haven't gotten my nails done in years, and was apprehensive about getting a full set due to a previous nightmarish experience. I walked in without an appointment and was greeted by the nail techs, which was nice. They have a nice color selection, with plenty of Essie and OPI polishes to choose from. The wait wasn't too long, and they had a movie going on the tv. I showed a picture of what I wanted to the nail tech and she assured me it was no problem; She was rather curt and told me to not come back to complain if I ended up not liking them lol. Some of the nails are a tiny bit crooked, the polish is kind of lumpy, and the matte top coat wasn't brought all the way to the sides. It's not outstanding, but nothing to throw a fit over. Overall, it's a decent job and I wouldn't mind going back again if I was in the area. Absolutely awful experience!! Unless you enjoy working with liars and thieves, this place is not for you. I went in for a mani/pedi. My pedicure started with a woman who did not buff my feet, used lotion with ingredients I am allergic to, could not file my nails straight and was finally assisted by an 'experienced' technician. She proceeded to buff my nail however I have small nail beds and she went straight across my feet. I kept telling her it hurt and pulling my feet away but was still left with four bloody toes one of which is so deep she blamed ME for it. I finally said stop, don't polish, don't cut/file anymore, let's just call this a draw and move on. They told me I didn't have to pay since I was now bloody injured and the service was not performed/finished. My mani started fine then quickly went from there to "holy hell just stop". No cuticle care, she started to clip my cuticle but was scared to hurt me again so she ended up going through the motions which included scraping the tool down my nails. She then used scented lotion with glitter and was about to put polish over it. I just wanted a clear coat but not glittered. I stopped her and she suggested a hand wash which I took as quickly as possible. When I returned I said that this clearly isn't working, my nails are more damaged than when I came in and my feet hurt to much to stick around. I went up to pay for the mani and the more experienced technician came back to check out. I handed her my card and said how much just for the mani? She said I had to pay for the combo. I reminded her that she waived the pedi since I am now bleeding, no polish or finished product was produced in either event and that she told me I wasn't going to pay for the pedicure. She then told me that I misunderstood her and that she would give me a discount not for free THEN SWIPED MY CARD!! I honestly felt robbed, as if she had gone in my purse and just took money out. So now I don't have a manicure or a pedicure, my nails aren't straight or polished, my hands have trenches dug in my nails covered in glitter and I have lotion I'm allergic to coving my legs my feet are still bleeding AND SHE LIED AND STOLE FROM ME!! I am absolutely livid with this establishment and the people that work there. I cannot encourage you enough to find anywhere else to have your nails done. ANYWHERE ELSE! read more
