I wanted to give my services to a Black Owned nail shop while visiting Los Angeles and have my hands slayed by my black sisters. Came across Nail Dega thru research. By far the absolute worst service I have ever experienced in nail salons. I was given a nail tech who said it was her second day at that salon but had 2yrs of experience. Bet. Was slightly annoyed because I wanted a black woman but I got the only Asian woman. Fine. 1.5hrs later and she had only finished buffing 2 fingers after HORRIBLY applying acrylic. The acrylic was grossly applied and when I voiced my concerns I was met with push back because I did not allow her to finish her job of buffing... after 1.5hrs or sitting in her chair. I didnt even allow them to put polish on because I was just done with their poor service. The owner/manager came to finish the job but even she didn't notice the uneven length on my nails, didn't even bother to discount my service either. 4 clients walked in after me and walked out before me, 4. Unimpressed! The owner was very surprised when I walked in and she was not aware of the online appointment that I scheduled, which required a $15 deposit. There was a upcharge for my existing gel removal...fine... but as you can tell from the photo, all of the gel wasn't removed, though the technician proceeded with the quasi manicure. Pedicure - I have acrylic on one big toe. It was chipped at the tip so I asked the tech to repair. Instead she rounded the chipped area and added more acrylic on what was existing, resulting in an uneven nail with excess acrylic (not sandal ready!). I was looking forward to making this my new nail salon being I live inn the area and my old tech of eight years is no longer doing nails. That salon was in Rolling Hills (yes, I was there every two weeks, religiously). The owner and other tech were not welcoming, there was no "how was the service" or "would you like to schedule another appointment". Service left a lot to be desired. No fault of the technician's...I think she did the best she could with very little direction and would be surprised if she stayed there for much longer. read more

The nails, the toes, the cuticle everything was perfect She can file natural nails very very well, I love the shape. She's a little anal about her work that's what make her so good. So I used to go to this salon. 1. The nails are just OKAY and I thought that before there were any issues. They just don't have that sharp crisp look that I like my nails to have. Definitely lower tier nails in my opinion. 2. I understand the good and bad reviews. I went here because they were black owned seemed nice but had a lot of rules. But you go in here too much and you will see their rules turn into rude. It's unfortunate because I want to support them but you wait a long time, you ask a question that breaks their "rules" and you get a bad response. Absolutely love! O is an amazing business owner! Easy booking, one on one appointment (covid safe thanks to her keeping her schedule together), immaculate customer service, and easy checkout. My nails and polish lasted two weeks (could've gone longer) and I do hair (lots of washing). She also catered to my acting needs and somehow was able to do my acrylic nails without filing my natural nail down (just in case I have to lose my nails for a role ...I won't have to wait for that indention to grow out) and they look perfect like regular acrylic. Only done if you wear your nails short. (I'm convinced she's a nail guru/ninja)! For you readers - so here's the story: first I booked and didn't pay deposit, but there's an email that tells you how to properly rebook. Then, I booked but was running behind with my hair clients. O worked with me and was able to squeeze me in the following day. I WAS LATE (due to another client...omg I was the worst) but she was still EXTREMELY GRACIOUS and fit me in. I got it together the next appointment, was on time and had another fantastic service! I can't wait to go back for a third and beyond! I literally keep staring at my nails, bc they look so good! I went to see if I could receive a refund because my nails are severely damaged and O the rude ass hobbit owner told me that it exceeded the 2 day repair policy which makes no sense because I couldn't see the nail damage until after my acrylics were removed. My hairstylist recommended this place so I decided to check it out especially since it is black owned, their IG page looked cute and it's closer to my house than my normal spot. I figured since I only wanted a pedicure it shouldn't be too much of a risk. The nails salon itself was cute. I like the way they arrange the polish by color. They have a TV and also play some light music. They had air conditioning but it honestly could have been stronger. You have to ring a doorbell to get in (which I find annoying). But the real reason for this review is their inexperienced nail tech. First of all she hurt me several times during the pedicure it is honestly a miracle that I'm not bleeding. In addition to this, I wanted regular polish with a simple triangular negative space design. Once I requested it, she never said she wasn't capable, instead she went to go ask the owner/operator how to do it. In my naïveté I thought maybe she was all set, nope she came back and spent 30 mins on the simple design only for it to look horrible at the end. My reservation clearly stated that I wanted a design so I'm not sure why I was assigned someone who couldn't do a simple design. She also could have admitted to her limitations. I originally came here because It is a black owed business. However, I had high hopes with high expectations, just to end up with one of the worst mani/pedi Jobs I have ever received. I definitely like the atmosphere, the customer service & the convenience of being close to home. I am hoping that I just ended up with someone who was a beginner, because my nails look horrible and it has only been 3 days since I've gotten my nails done. The gel is already chipping and my feet were never done properly to begin with. I was happy that they were able to take me even though my appointment was set for a different day, however I would've been happier if I would have waited or maybe went somewhere else where I know I would have spent my $65 on quality work. If I were to go back I would definitely ask for someone with experience and a portfolio to make sure that I get the right person. So this place was recommended to me by a few ppl. I have sensitive hands and feet so a gentle touch is always appreciated. The woman that worked on me was nice and did great job! I've always had long nails so when I can find a place that can handle natural nails I get excited. It is very small on the inside only about 4 mani tables and 3 pedi chairs. With that being said this shop is def a book your nail appointment in advance type of place. I was a walk-in and waited about 45-50 mins. Now she did advise me of this so I can't be mad. I'd been passing this place and finally decided to try it out since I'm on the hunt for a black owned or english speaking nail salon (the language barrier seems to = trouble understanding what I'm asking for at other places). I booked my appointment using their online system. The day of I received a call from "O" saying that they had an opening for an earlier appointment if I'd like to move my appointment up. I agreed to that, but when I arrived I found that due to an unforeseen occurrence, my assigned nail technician called out for the day. O says that she tried to reach me and left a VM (fair enough, I had left my phone at home and was running errands) she then says, "I'm going to go ahead and do your nails for you, but I'll have to WORK YOU IN with my own clients". I sat a waited and while observing the salon realized this O is either the Manager or the owner. After waiting for 2 hours I got up and asked how much longer it would be. She wasn't "working me in" she was taking all her clients and left me sitting there. Now this is what burned my britches...I ask " how much longer do you think it would be? I'm thinking I should probably reschedule". She says "I have no availability to reschedule you. I'm almost finished, you can wait or not wait. If you wait I'll do you, if not I'll do somebody else, it doesn't matter to me". I stood there in disbelief that this young woman just had the gall to talk to me like that when I'd been waiting patiently for so long without even receiving an apology for the inconvenience. Pitiful customer service. I really wanted to like this place. Talented staff. Owner displays zero social skills unless you're one of her senior clients. I moved to the neighborhood 2 years ago and was DELIGHTED that there is a black/woman owned and operated shop in walking distance from my house. So delighted that after my first 3 visits, I excused that I waited over an hour each time even though I had an appointment. The owner mumbled a "sorry" one of those 3 times. This time, I made the first appointment of the day and found myself waiting outside because the owner was late. Of course, I didn't know that at the time as I was instructed to be early. I was early and just waited-knocked, called, and waited. I saw her pull up after I got no response at the door or on the phone. She opened the door and barely said a word. She zoomed into my manicure & pedicure service without barely making eye contact. I brought up the fact that I was waiting outside and on previous visits and she said, "I'm sorry, do you still want your service?" No care or concern, just are you still planning on spending money today. I was so disappointed. One of her nail techs came and took over my nail appointment, then she started working on an elderly lady laughing and having conversation. A gem in my local neighborhood. I came here for a basic pedicure as a walk-in after hearing so many good things about the services. It was around 3pm when I arrived on a Saturday so the shop was already full of clients. The vibe was chill, the owner Oh offered me and other guests Madeline's (individual cookies) while we waited. The wait time was about 30 minutes not bad for a walk-in at that time of the day. I had pleasant conversation with a mother and daughter as well as the owner Oh so I was content. My technicians name was Felicia, she did a great job on my feet which were in desperate need of TLC. The water was just right and the chairs are unique and simple. I really was rooting for this place especially after walking in for the first time and not seeing a single Asian person in sight. Nail Dega is the very first nail spa I've visited in Inglewood, or the LA area for that matter, with all Black manicurists. I'm sad to report my experience was a bit disappointing considering the high price point.I was charged $32 for a gel polish removal on natural nails and a gel polish manicure - $5 for the gel polish removal + $27 for the gel polish = $32 plus a 15% tip= $36. Was the price tag worth the service and experience? In my humble opinion, NO. If I'm going to shell out extra money for a service I expect some fringe benefits and no less than excellent service. On average, in the Inglewood/Hawthorne area a gel polish change is anywhere from about $15 to $18 dollars which includes the gel polish removal. Nail Dega charges double that amount. At this price did I receive a complimentary chilled mini bottle of water? NO Was there a relaxing spa environment, water features, or calm music playing in the background? NO Was I offered a diverse selection of top of the line gel polishes, scented oils, or warm towels? NO What I received was an uninspired, poorly decorated salon with dirty nail polish covered UV light machines and dirty unstable tables. The quality of service was less than stellar. My manicurist (Raven) was friendly but rough when cleaning my nail beds and removing skin from my cuticles. Very little buffing was done to my nails leaving my gel polish surface bumpy and textured. A few of my nails are shaped crooked and not straight square across. Overall, the job she did on the gel polish was average at best and definitely not $32 + a 15% tip worthy. Will I be back? Probably not unless I see or hear of some major changes. Do I recommend Nail Dega? As much as I wish I could, no. read more

I called and made an appointment for 3 people and we came in at our appointment time and 2 of us didn't get seen until an hour and a half after our appointment time. I'm not sure why I even made an appointment. I ended up getting my pedicure after 40 minutes and I noticed the girl didn't clean any of the utensils and used the same nippers as the girl before me. I'm so grossed out. She cut me and I told her she was hurting me and she wouldn't stop. I wanted them filed and she was stabbing me with the file and it was done so badly I will not be coming back here. The place is dirty and nothing is cleaned between clients. The manager kept helping other people who were walking in and ignoring us while we were waiting there. I'm just shocked at such poor service. Love Love Love this nail shop! I made an appointment online at www.naildega.com yesterday (5/20) for today (5/21). The website has all of there services listed a long with the price. Only downfall about the site is that you can not select your own nail technician but instead it will select them for you. When I am came in my manicurist(who's name I can't remember unfortunately) was setting up her station to prepare for me and I was seen right away. She was very cool and knowledge about her craft. My toe nail had split in half and I was afraid I would have to remove it and risk infection. However, she knew just what to do without removing my actual nail. I am definitely satisfied and relieved with my results. This place is very cozy with with nice cushioned seats that lay back for your comfort. This place has colors galore and really funky nail designs that I love. The atmosphere is very chill and relaxing not noisy like other places. Ohh and I can't believe I left the best part out. The smell was very strong. My appointment was at 4:30 and she didn't start til 4:45-4:50 because she was busy running her mouth with her friend. The quality of the environment just is not the same. Im assuming theres another business in the back room cause last time I came I had to ask that they change the music and calm down cause they were drinking and were just way to loud,that day I had my mom with me.. Its not peaceful anymore. It has turned into a "hangout" and I can no longer bring my mom or give them my money. If u want a calm experience this isn't the shop for u. I have been coming faithfully for 4 months to get my hard gel fills. I love the work that Oh the shop owner does on my nails and the quality of the pedicures from the other girls, so I give 2 stars for that. However, this last weekend I was very disappointed. I thought I had found a nail home, but I don't think I'll be back again. It's kind of hard to after this. I made an appointment at least a week in advance for 11:15 Saturday morning. I arrived early with my sister who was going to wait for me to finish. Oh was on the phone and I was asked to pick my colors. Oh then came over to me to figure out a plan for my nails and then she told me she had one client ahead of me but it will just take her a second to finish her up. So she sits and waits for the client to finish getting her pedicure. Now it's 11:30 I look and realize Oh is doing a hard gel full set which takes about a hour to hour and a half. So now I'm upset and not sure what's going on. Oh still hasn't said anything else to me about my appointment. So 12 noon is here and someone else comes in and stated she's here for her 12 o'clock appointment. I ask Oh what's going on I had my appointment at 11:15. She then proceeded to say that the person I was booked under no longer works here and she has 2 clients ahead of me that she had to take care of first. Oh then told me she understood if I wanted to leave. First how was I supposed to know that the person no longer worked there? When I first arrived I should have been told this not given the false impression that I'd be seen soon. Then it changed to 2 people ahead of me! I waited 45 minutes and then had to ask what was going on before being told. Had she just been honest about having one less nail tech or whatever the case was I would have respected that. I asked Oh about other appointment openings and she said some, but it just wasn't going to work for me, that's why I made an appointment. I know having a business is hard and that things happen, but communication is key. I've observed others appointments not be honored and also false impressions of short wait times too unfortunately. So I scheduled an appointment for a Saturday at 3:15. My drive to L.A. now is about two hours but I was willing to make the drive. Well as anyone who lives in Southern Cali everyone know that traffic can be a nightmare. I had to get off the freeway to make it on time...I was fifteen minutes late. Upon entering I was told that she had taken a walk in before me but would get started on my pedicure and select my colors. I sat there from 3:30 until a little after 5pm. I decided to leave and upon telling her that I was leaving...it did not seem like she was concerned but she did ask if I wanted to reschedule. If I lived in the area again I would have but not being almost a two hour drive to be bumped. I actually think the client she was working was taken before my scheduled appointment. I called and the girl said she did not check the system to note my deposit. I asked it they can refund my deposit and she stated she would have to speak to a manager and some will call me by 6. I really wanted to love this place. I had driven past nail dega many times and decided to give this business my money. I had a nail appointment after purchasing the membership online despite reading the bad yelp reviews. My pedicure was nice. However, my gel fill was trash. The nail tech cut me when removing a broken nail, the gel polish she initially used was running out, so she ended up using another gel nail polish color. The polish was chunky and bubbling and on my cuticles. The edges were not filed properly. I did not want to cause a scene while I was there cause they were busy and I had already been there for almost three hours. I emailed the owner asking that she make things right by having my nails repaired by another tech or refunding me. She ignored my request completely. Instead I received an email stating my membership was cancelled and that I could come in for my final fill as part of the membership benefits. I paid for a membership and additional services on top of that. So I expected to get a good service in return. I paid a total of $134. I will not be going back for the final fill. This place is a perfect example of why people don't patronize black owned businesses. I booked 2 appointments online making a deposit (which is required). Their website says if you are more than 15 minutes late you are charged $15 basically forfeiting your deposit. Yet they think I should wait more than half hour AFTER my scheduled appointment time and then had the audacity to refuse to refund my deposit. I will also be reporting them to the BBB edit: The owners reply is so fake it's truly pathetic. FIRST off I was there for 15 minutes AFTER my scheduled appointment time BEFORE she told me anything. After waiting an additional 20 minutes yes I was ready to go. The owner was then nothing but rude and nasty. Like I said, their website states there is a 15 minute grace period and then customers will be charged if they are late. It's bad enough they have the nerve to make you pay a deposit for an appointment because this is in NO WAY a high end nail salon. You PAY for an appointment and they have the nerve to think it's ok to make customers wait 30 plus minutes. I was so excited to come here y'all. I made my appointment 3 weeks in advance. Paid my deposit. And showed up early. The shop is so cute. The vibe/energy is positive and welcoming. When I walked in I was advised that 2 people called out so they were behind but like I said I had waited 3 weeks and paid my deposit so I was gonna wait. Dae did my pedicure. I loved that I was able to clearly understand what she was saying, she asked how I like my toes to look and educated me on proper care for my feet. Loved it. O did my nails. And she also made great conversation, asked me what I did for work so she would know how thick to make the acrylic. And she shaped them beautifully. However when she applied the gel. My nails lost shape and looked really thick. It's been a week. Just one week and I've lost 3 nails. I was in the shop for 4 hours and paid over $70 and after a week I've lost 3 nails. I didn't mind waiting that was out of her control. And after I lost the first nail, i still did count them out but 3. I really wanted to make them my regular nail place and keep my black dollars black but I can't keep spending that much money only to loose my nails before I go back to get them filled. I'm sad and disappointed but I won't be going back to Nail Dega. I give 2 stars cause I lost 3 nails. read more

I wish I would've read the reviews before going to Nail Dega.... I needed a polish change and a pedicure and seen they took walk ins so I went in about 10:30ish in the morning. As soon as I walked in the owner looked at me confused and then she proceeded to tell me they are booked until about 6, so I just decided to book that appointment. So me being a good sport, I decided to run my errands and just come back. I return at 6 and walk in, the owner looks at me and says nothing! I proceed to sit down and they finally call my name for my appointment at 6:30! Without being greeted or told it was a little wait... At this point I am upset but still try to give them a chance and support a BLACK BUSINESS. The owner did my nails and had an attitude the WHOLE TIME. Her energy was horrible and we barely spoke so I was confused on why she was mad?! Then at the end had the nerve to try and sell the membership!!! Uhhhh..... Definitely won't be back! I had a WONDERFUL experience at this nail salon. I went today and the one nail tech they have in there ( I hate I didn't get her name) but, she has a tat on her left shoulder that say "Blessed " she was polite, professional, attentive, and engaging but not too much, she let me enjoy my first of many experiences!!! My pedi was equally as amazing, she took care of my ingrown & it didn't even hurt! I loved this place, I found my new spot, finally!! read more
