Kiki did my nails. I have to be pretty disappointed in order to take the time to leave a review. I'm usually not hard to please when it comes to my nails, but this was a really frustrating experience. I went in for a dip manicure with a French tip on my natural nails. My nails were quite long when I arrived, and I specifically asked for a round shape. Instead, they were cut completely down and ended up looking square. I also questioned the base color, since it didn't look natural for a French manicure, but I was assured it would turn out fine. Unfortunately, it didn't, and the lines were uneven and barely visible against the white base. Now, just two days later, the gel top coat on four of my nails has already started peeling. While the woman at checkout was nice enough to acknowledged that I was unhappy, no solution or correction was offered, just an apology. I ended up paying $50 for what is easily the worst dip manicure I've ever had. I definitely won't be going back. read more

Went for the first time a couple weeks ago & loved it so I decided to go back..... BIG MISTAKE! The design was horrible and the shaping was incorrect after I repeatedly told the tech it wasn't correct and I was unhappy. I even went back to have them corrected for free like the manager offered and they still were horrible. They refused to take them off and start over to correct the shaping. Here goes my honest opinion about my experience yesterday at the nail bar. They don't deserve any stars -0 at best!!! Jay is very unprofessional and he profiles the customers . If, you are of a darker skin he basically don't even want to service you. Before, I could even get in the shop good he started pressing to me to make a decision on color and who I wanted to service me. Mind you, I have only visited this place twice at best. I was barely even familiar with them less known knew who I wanted to do my nails. So, he said they take turns and he would do my pedicure. He barely even tried to remove the rough skin off the bottom of my foot. I asked him to use the smoother and he told me it wasn't going to do any good and refused. Then he said he could only get it off with a razor. I told him that I didn't want to use a razor. After, that he got an attitude and started talking in their language to Kimchi across from him about me. He started looking at me and laughing and so did she. I asked him was he talking about me and he ignored me then said no. He laughed at my toes knowing they were infected with fungi. They were willing to put overlay and tips on a my toes knowing they were infected. I didn't know my toes were in that bad of shape. Because they had been putting overlay and tips on them previously. Today they had to face the fact that my toes were badly infected and they didn't want to be liable. So, he didn't complete the pedicure he got up and Said he did know who to do acrylic knowing that was a lie. He left me to let Kimchi pick up where he left off. She then called over another lady to consult with about my toes. They spoke in their language then they told me, that I should not get any tips or acrylic. They suggested that I should let my toes rest and heal. My point is they knew my toes were in this condition last time I was there. Kimchi did my toes last time why didn't she suggest not getting any overlay or tips at that time. They didn't care all they care about is making money. Not, the health or safety of their customers. I requested a pedicure. They upsold me the package with cucumber and hot stones for $48. The pedicure lasted maybe 30 mins. My toes nails were not filed and shaped correctly. Now, the bottom of my toes are peeling. It's looks like I have athletes feet, even though I don't. The polish job is bumpy. The pedi was mediocre at best. Expensive and just not good. read more

However, today I decided to get a dip manicure after loving it at another salon. After my experience this afternoon though, I would vehemently advise against a dip mani here!!! My cuticles felt like they were being run over with a chain saw. I have three fingers cut and bleeding. No one cared that my cuticles had been cut or got bandaids before I left. Needless to say, despite a good history of gel manicures here, I will not be returning. You shouldn't have to get antibiotic ointment and bandages after visiting a nail salon. My nails look great! Called ahead to see if they took appointments or walk in only, but since they did both I made an appointment because being a mom of 2, I wanted to make sure I didn't have to wait a ridiculous amount of time before getting my service. I literally made my appointment 15 mins ahead of time. Kenny was my nail tech today. Got in and got out in 35 mins for a gel mani. They even put a hot towel on my hands and gave me a hand massage in that time. I do not think I have ever spent less time anywhere and got this fabulous of a gel mani. I never post reviews. This will be maybe my second one ever. I went to nail bar yesterday to get a simple manicure. I had a middle aged man do my nails. I didn't catch his name as I was talking to my sister. Long story short, he used the cuticle clippers and cut up my fingers all around. they are red and swollen and bleeding at the cuticle. Then, he started filing my pinky and sliced my finger at the tip and I can barely type at my job. I asked him to be more gentle since he was pushed on my nails so hard when pushing the cuticles back. The paint looks like I did it myself while intoxicated. I am so shocked that he has a job anywhere. I paid to be injured. Please do not go here and if you do, ask for a woman to be safe. I have had some accidental cuts before but nothing like this, and they always apologized but not this man. read more

Well, let me start off by saying it does have a luxury atmosphere. I came in with two friends. All three of us wanted a pedicure. Both of my friends go their pedicures started before mine. When mine was finally started, they were ready for for polish. Finally it is time for me a pedicure. Let's just say that that was the worst shape, and color application I've ever had in my life! Pretty building and great location but I came here needing a pedicure based on Yelp reviews. First of all, I was placed in a chair and the water became cold by the time the manicurist began on my feet. I had to ask 3xs for hot water and she still ran a small amount that only made the water slightly warmer than cool. I asked for hot water again and never got it. I soon realized with how slowly and cumbersome she was that she's new and doesn't understand any English. I ask the staff to help me to translate but they walk away and continue to help the regulars. This is awkward because she seems like a sweet lady and I don't like complaining or constantly having to ask for detailed things that should come with the service. Most people in the salon business deal with industry workers and can see that my feet needed someone with a bit of experience. This lady would've been great for my children and their tiny callous-free and smooth hands and feet! 1.5 hrs have passed and I'm still having to ask the manicurist to PLEASE remove more cuticles. Please use a rough surface device to get the calluses. Also, I asked repeatedly to have my nails cut as short as possible, yet she's already drained the bath and did a very half-hearted and weak-handed "massage" with the orange salt scrub that left much to be desired. I see customers being offered bottle water and wines and I've received nothing. No English speaking staff have come by to check on this extremely uncomfortable situation. I stand on my feet in heels sometimes 18hrs per day and walk over 6miles in these heels. Pedicure and foot care is important to me and I can't afford to spend $35+tip to be a Guinea pig for an unsupervised trainee. It's not fair with the number of hours I work to lose this much time and have nothing to show for it. I finally ask a gentleman after walking by if he spoke English. I finally got my can of soda and he clipped my cuticles for me at the 2nd hour. I'm too tired at this point to even worry anymore. It's hit or miss with good nail service. read more

I honestly wish that I can rate my experience at 0 stars. My mom loves this nail shop and is a faithful customer, but today took the cake. We walked in and waited 45 minutes to be assisted. That's no problem. Nobody asked us what we needed or anything. My mother walked up to the manager and told her what we wanted. He said "K". We then sat down patiently. After our 45 minute wait, a nail tech walked up to us and asked what we would like. Of course during this time people are walking in, being greeted, and being serviced. We told him we wanted pedicures and he moved us to that area. We sit down and I told him that I would like a classic pedi and my mom wanted a deluxe pedi. He turned on the water for me and then moved over to my mother. I asked him three times to please turn on the hot water and bubbles, because it was freezing cold. Steer clear of this place! Came in for simple mani-pedi w/ regular polish. Put gel on my toenails unbeknownst to me, and powder on my nails. Told it was a new type of shiny polish. Ended up with gel toes and acrylic nails. When I complained, they got nasty and short with me. Leave me with pure acetone and foil on nails over an hour. Approached her doing pedi on another customer. Asked when I would be taken care of, sent me to manager. Told they'd take care of me when someone became available. Waited another 10 min or so. Took foil off myself with sticky cotton stuff and goo everywhere. Paid for pedi and manager insisted I pay $10 because the manicure was done. Natural nails are absolutely ruined. Left in tears. I went to Nail Bar for the first time to get a pedi. I usually go to the place across the street, but thought I would try this place. It's a really pretty salon. Very modern and airy. Very clean. I like how all technicians wear white jackets. Looks very professional. It's also very large and I saw them accept walk-ins which is awesome bc the "other" place says they accept walk-ins, but they never have openings. The people working were nice and the salon is pretty and clean. However...I called early for an appointment (manicure and pedicure, on a weekday) to verify availability and arrived a few minutes before my appointment time. I then sat for nearly an hour in a flat manicure chair awaiting instruction while they took three walk-in pedicures and more. The services and pricing are vague. After my hour wait, my shellac manicure involved some aggressive cuticle trimming, drawing blood on multiple fingers. There's no doubt she felt me wince and saw the blood. She asked about cutting nails, and I asked for just trimming and jagged ones/evening them out. They're now all cut uncomfortably below my fingertips and have little red specks from my "cuticle trim." When that was done, I was brought back to an already full pedi tub that was cool at that point. Two hours had passed by now and I had to ask for something to drink. The pedicure was also aggressive. The "massage" part involved punching my calves. One of the gentlemen working was arguing on the phone with a car dealership that was scamming him, which--that's fair and warranted based on the conversation--but I don't know that this business appreciates that we drop a decent amount of money for a relaxing experience. As soon as my toes were painted, the pedicurist walked away with no directions for me. I gave it 10 minutes for some sort of attention and then finally just went to the desk to hopefully pay and leave. So--I made an appointment and spent more than 3-1/4 hours for a mani-pedi that was the opposite of relaxing, with half of the time spent waiting without any insight as to what was next and when. If you're going to leave people waiting for exorbitant amounts of time, acknowledge them, give them a time frame and a head's up, offer them a beverage, have WiFi. I'm new to the area. This place is new. But it's not so new that they shouldn't have things together by now. As a "spa," the focus is on relaxing the customer, creating a special, comforting experience for the customer. This was especially true for me. It was my first day out of the house after two weeks healing from surgery and I feel like I threw away time and money--especially considering the kind of service I have gotten at the Poplar Ave. Elite Spa for the same price.
