She explained that it needed to be shortened from the top, which entailed removing the sleeves to take up the required inch, which in turn required adjusting the armpit opening and tapering the sleeve. Nadia is wonderful - a modest, straight forward woman who cares about doing great work. She's being doing this stuff since she was a little girl, so it doesn't get more expert than that. She's quick and patient but expects her clients not to rush her. Her space has a lovely old fashioned feel to it - I loved looking around. She's located in a brown building by the shell gas-station, so pull into that parking lot at the roundabout and don't pass it. She's on the second floor toward the back. First, the good... - My bridesmaid dress was altered well - the place was clean and spacious The bad... She doesn't take credit card, and she requires payment with drop off. As a result, I left my dress and my husband dropped off a check at another time. When I picked up the dress, she told me she never received the check, yet I had seen it cashed in my bank statement. I ended up having to drive all the way home, print out the statement, and drive back to prove the alterations were paid for already, which was frustrating in itself but made even more frustrating that I was departing for the wedding that day, which was in PA! My name is on the check and my husband explained the situation. She even stated that she remembered " a bald guy" and a little girl coming in, yet she didn't remember the check?!?! Very unprofessional. She needs to mark paid BEFORE depositing her checks or she just should not take in the clothing without payment if she is not organized enough to mark paid. read more

I have been using Nadia for years for hemming pants, a couple of months ago my fiancée had patches sewn onto a jacket, and this month I had my bridal gown altered. Nadia's work is always fabulous and her prices are reasonable. She always explains the job and gives a cost for the work before you leave. She sets a tentative date for pick up and the work has always been completed when I return. I have read a review that commented on her being rude. I must say that I have never found Nadia to ever be rude. She is very straightforward and not a chatterbox, perhaps someone interpreted this as being rude. She is a great seamstress. Nadia is the best tailor I've found for business/professional clothes in the Pioneer Valley. Both the button-down shirts I brought her were finished in less than two days-- perfectly shaped to me with no crooked seams in sight. My bill was $55. Substantially more expensive than Arif's behind Maple Farms, but absolutely worth it for the quality of product. I'll be bringing the rest of my work attire next week: slacks, shirts, and vests. Other notes: Her shop is really cute, though the protocol is a little weird. Ring the doorbell and wait for her to call you in, basically. This shop is cash only. She does take deposits, which is nice--I only had $20 on me when I brought in my shirts, and she let me pay the remainder of my bill when I picked everything up. read more

There was no reason for her to be so rude, if she didn't want to or couldn't make the alterations, that's all she had to say. She most definitely does not get my recommendation. read more

My experience with Nadia's Alterations was limited, but I wanted to share nonetheless. I had a problem with a loop of thread in the middle of a section of fabric on some nice wool dress pants. Apparently this is pretty common and she had a tool to fix it. It took her only about 2 minutes, she was very pleasant and she refused to accept payment. Maybe this is normal for very minor alterations or fixes, but I thought you should know. Give her some business. read more

Nadia is great. I just brought her a sportcoat to bring in the waist. She charges more than other tailors (in this case $45 to bring in the back seam), but her work is really nice. The owner of Retrogenie in Northampton reccomended Nadia to me to tailor my vintage items. Prior i had been going to a seamstress in my own town who butchered one of my vintage dresses. Nadia is a bit pricy but does amazing work. I came to her once with a request to turn a 70s jumpsuit into a romper and take it in on the sides and she was able to do it AND it fit amazingly. I definitely trust her with all of my clothes even my vintage pieces. Only downside to this shop is strange hours, must have payment upon consult/garment drop off and cash only. read more

Nadia is undoubtedly one of the best tailors I have ever worked with -- she is more than your basic dry-cleaners alterations and you can trust her with complicated alterations that are imperceptible afterwards, with perfect fits. I have brought her basic jobs like hemming, but she's also done work for me including tailoring pants that were three sizes too big; making an entirely new placket that had ripped for a pair of asymmetrically cut trousers; and working with sequins and net. I have always been thrilled with her work. She finishes work exceptionally fast and it is always ready before her pick up date, and her studio is airy, bright, and pleasant. Nadia possesses a brisk bedside manner but most importantly, her opinions are always well considered and thoughtful, though she leaves the final decision up to you. Above all, Nadia is a professional seamstress with a high level of training and experience -- she will not cut corners on alterations and so is reasonably priced though definitely not cheap. Nadia is amazing. She is incredibly skilled and detail-oriented and also clearly cares about meeting her clients' needs. She recently altered my wedding dress. During my initial meeting with her, she was open and honest about the challenges involved in meeting my requests (it was a challenging alteration). I really, really appreciated her honesty. She didn't mince words or lie to me and give me something I didn't want. She told me where my understanding was wrong so that I had a clear and realistic idea of the product I would receive. I left feeling very safe and as though I could trust her to do a great job, and she ended up exceeding my expectations. She worked some magic on that dress and somehow it ended up fitting me perfectly but looking as though she hadn't touched it. I honestly have no idea how she managed to do that, especially considering she took no measurements, but I guess that's how it works when you're an expert in your craft.
