My girlfriend got the Jose Nachos and I got a dish (I can't remember the name of it) that contained refried beans, rice, and cheese mixed with peppers, onions and steak. Reynaldo and his crew were kind and provided a great experience for nearly 50 guests during a typically busy time of day for them. They made everything feel seamless. Events concluded somewhat early on Saturday and I wanted to make the most of my drive out that way, so I decided to drive a little farther to give Gordo's Way a try. TL;DR -- I'm gonna be making more special trips to Albertville. This restaurant is located on Main Street in Albertville. It's on the corner/end of the street. Street parking is limited but there's a large lot across the street that I took advantage of. They appear to only be open Friday - Sunday so plan accordingly! A few picnic tables are arranged in front of the entrance. The restaurant is small with room for maybe ~25 seats on the inside. You order at the counter. The menu is diverse with a lot of authentic Mexican and Central American dishes. Big focus on birria -- not just tacos, but pizza and ramen too. Service was exceptional! The young woman who greeted me at the counter was so friendly and nice. She immediately caught on it was my first visit and she graciously offered to explain the menu to me. She was exceedingly thorough - more than I truly needed but I didn't mind because she was so sweet - and she knew her stuff! If you're new to this cuisine at all, Gordo's Way would be a great place to explore because the staff will take care of you. They have several containers of aguas frescas, to include cucumber pineapple, horchata, orange pineapple, etc. I knew I wanted one but couldn't pick -- they kindly offered me a sample. The cucumber pineapple was perfect -- delightfully refreshing, not too sweet but not too cucumbery either, and so that was my choice. I ordered two birria tacos with a side of rice and beans to accompany my beverage. This was actually my first time trying birria. I've waited to try it because I wanted to try it somewhere I was confident would do it well -- reviews led me here. I wasn't disappointed. It was delicious: the beef was chewy, savory, succulent, so moist; the onions were crunchy but unobtrusive; the tortilla was thin and crispy; and the consommé for dipping was perfectly umami and surprisingly not insanely messy. The only thing that didn't completely knock my socks off was the rice. It wasn't bad, just kind of standard. The beans were, I think, charro beans -- definitely pintos, not refried. They were smoky and tender. Go out of your way to Gordo's Way -- you will not regret it.

Upon arrival, I marveled at the beautiful decor and how fast we were greeted and seated. Our server Joshua, was attentive and quickly placed our drink orders. The complimentary salsa was some of the best I've had. The salsa was chilled perfectly and very fresh. The veggies were perfectly chopped and crunchy just how I like it. My virgin daiquiri was great as well and was very eye-pleasing. After placing our food order, it did not take long to come out. Both of us agreed that our food was pretty good overall. My friend wasn't overly impressed. He said it wasn't anything to write home about. My quesadilla was a little...watery...not sure if it was from the meat or the veggies. I've had better to be honest.
