I HATE THIS RESTAURANT because this food was sooooo good, I won't be able to eat at another Mexican restaurant again. I had Las Tapatias (3 chicken enchiladas with red sauce) and I never realized that the meat can be flavored. I'm from San Diego and have been eating Mexican food for 45 years. Both the meat and the rice had flavor. I don't know how they seasoned them but I scarfed the food down so quickly, I had to slow down and allow myself to drink. I would have taken pictures but I didn't slow down until the plate was destroyed . My experience is now ruined because I don't live in Alabama and no other Mexican restaurant compares to this one. Los Mexicanos is my favorite Mexican restaurant. Los Mex 3 is the newest of them. It isn't quite as good as the original one though. Their salsa is always on point and very good. My favorite thing to eat here is the chille rello. It is different that any other one that I have ever had. This one consists of a Chile with meat cooked around it and topped with cheese. read more

I came home for Easter to visit my parents and los Mexicanos was the first place I wanted to go eat. It is a staple in this town and the food is delicious. I get the chicken nachos every time I come home because they are the best nachos that I have found in my life. Their salsa and chips are very good. I am also a huge fan of the cheese dip because it has that perfect viscosity that few cheese dips have. The only bad thing is that their service is usually so good that you don't have as much time to eat them before your food gets to the table. As this is a decently small town, this is one of the main meeting spots to where the wait can get long if you go at the wrong times. However, as I said earlier, the wait staff does a great job getting the food out very quick to where the wait doesn't feel as long as it is. read more

Despite the negative and older reviews for this restaurant, I decided to give it a go. I asked at my motel, behind the restaurant, if they were any good...and she said they were. You typically judge a Mexican restaurant by their salsa and margaritas...to which she said they were good! I ordered the #10, with chicken tacos...which was pretty good. They were stuffed with shredded chicken, but could have had more lettuce, as it was mostly chicken. The chips and salsa were really good, and the Texas margaritas were awesome! Initially, my waiter was not very friendly...but when I asked if I could get a margarita to go (because I walked there)...I got him to smile...to which he said I could not get it to go. Oh well! we just chanced on this restaurant just behind the comfort suites in Oxford, Alabama, the menu looks good, but you never know, so we tried it. Two are wonderful surprise. These were the best fajitas we've ever had, and we've traveled all over the world who would've known in a small off interstate town in Alabama would have such wonderful Mexican food and good service and clean, the fajitas were charbroiled And tasted the same, a huge heaping amount for my wife and I we couldn't finish half the dish. It also came with guacamole salad, which usually have to pay extra for, not here! We got the mix for two. The con queso cheese sauce. We ordered extra was also wonderful and spicy and even the chips and salsa very tasteful And fresh crispy, and Complementary. It was a wonderful surprise after a long, 8 Hour Dr. to find something that was open till 10 o'clock. Thank you guys for putting into a very long drive,! Not wanting to drive after a long day, this place looked like a good choice being right behind the hotel. The service is ummmm relaxed. It took a few minutes for the waiter to take my drink order and I was still looking at menus when he came back for food order. I decided to order the veggie quesadilla since there was no fish plates on the menu. What I got was more like a greasy veggie "taco". There was nothing quesadilla about it and it looked like my stomach was going to be mad if I ate it so I left it on the table, took my guacamole, check, paid and never returned. read more

I have eaten at every Los Mexicanos in Anniston/Oxford, including the very first one that is now closed. I have never found any other Mexican restaurant that has better salsa! Whenever I visit family in AL, this is a MUST stop. :) The wait staff is extremely attentive, the food is delicious and it's very affordable! Very disappointed, in town for business travel, a co worker and I decided to grab something different in this small town with such limited options. The waiter rushed us to order, then after we ordered the only thing that looked and tasted good was my drink ( Iced cold Coca-Cola). Guacamole- not fresh Salsa for the chips- tasted like straight tomato paste. Carne Asada- dry and salty. Everything in this place isn't FRESH! When you advertise that you are open, it is a good idea to be open. Craving Mexican food after a 5-hour drive and, according to a magazine at La Quinta, you are open until 9 ... I walked across the parking lots to a dark building with a little sign taped to the door that said you were now open from 11-2. So I checked Yelp, found a place on Quintard, and drive 5 minutes to the best Mexican food I've had away from the border. I'll continue to stay at La Quinta on my monthly trips through town, but I've found my spot for Mexican food and its not the "lost" Mex. read more

Im gonna start by saying I don't think the map matches the actual location of the restaurant. This review is for the location just off of I20 near the cluster of hotels in oxford. Nothing special here...just you're standard Mexican food. The fajitas I ordered were alright. They must have ran out of red peppers though. Also, I was disappointed that they didn't have any hot sauce...specifically el yucateco, cause that stuff is the bomb. Service was friendly and on point. Went today to take someone out for a birthday and it was all around the worst food and service Ive ever had at this location. The quesadilla was doughy and undercooked and this is a problem every single time so we order it crispy but still they cant get it right, all the lettuce on everyone's dishes was BROWN and the Guac was also BROWN and runny! 4 people left hungry today as all of our food was terrible. Kept running out of chips and drinks all lunch long. Steak was overcooked and chewy as well were the shrimp fajitas that costs $17 and weren't fit to eat. No one ever came and asked if the food was ok. Cheese dip even was bad and tasted tangy and the churros were chewy with no cinnamon flavor at all! :( NOTHING was good about this trip and I must say we have noticed a lack of quality for some time now coming out of this location but this is our LAST visit for sure! I really cant believe the kitchen would put what came out of the kitchen out today. The server was the only one waiting on about tables on our side, he was overwhelmed and the ladies up front were not even trying to help although they were laid back and could have offered some help to make things better for the guests. Very sad to see what was once a great place at a good value go down hill over the past year. Enough is enough and they have Lost our business for good today after over 20 years of being loyal customers of this business. There is no way the employees didnt know that was not up to par yet, served it to customers anyway. The one star is for the decor. Service? Ha! The waiter definitely did not appear to want to be there. So sorry it was a burden waiting on customers. (insert sarcasm) Food? Apparently I was expecting actual authentic Mexican fare. A run through the drive at Taco Bell would have been better than what they attempted to pass off. Never had enchiladas with no sauce before. Not too sure what the mess was on my husband's plate. Think it was supposed to be their version of a chili relleno minus the chili and egg. It seemed to be a blob of the "famous" cheese sauce (aka white velveeta) mixed with ground beef and beans then smothered in more white cheese. Dirty dishes (with plenty left on them) disappeared quickly. Too bad it took so long to get a glass of water. Don't ask about the wait for our check. Even the guy at the register scoffed at us when he asked how it was. I told him he didn't want to know my opinion. If you don't like the truth, don't pursue the subject. Guaranteed we will not be returning to, or recommending this place...ever! If this is the best Mexican food in the area, I'd prefer shopping the freezer section at Walmart. read more

Everyting I have had is really good! Price is right. I stop in on my pass through q couple of weeks as these are the best chicken enchiladas... good fresh white meat, super sauce, homemade tortillas...also I always get the guacamole salad - no silliness - just lettuce and generous guacamole. Don't confuse with other restaurants in area similiarly named - this is just off I 59 and easy to wheel by - lots of parking -pick up what you want and go. Take-out can be trusted! I filled up on chips, salsa, cheese dip, and guacamole. The chicken fajita quesadilla was yummy, but I had ordered 2 and ended up taking one home. Hubby got Texas fajitas and ate all of it. We have been here several times and everything was good. Today it was just the opposite. Very disappointed. Slow service - 20 minutes to get drinks and never offered a refill. One lunch order was incorrect - one taco instead of the three that were requested. Steak fajitas were terrible. Not sure what has happened to this restaurant, but based on today's lunch I would definitely NOT recommend it. read more

I've at here numerous times, not on my own choosing, it was always the people I was with that wanted to eat there. This is the last time I will be eating there. Our waiter was very rude and only refilled one of our drinks (There were 3 of us). When he finally came to refill them he kept bringing the wrong drinks to the table and when we told him the fourth time we just wanted water he just walked off. We finally got our ticket and we've never spent over $30-$40 there but this time it was near $50. We asked if we could know what we got rang up for and the woman at the counter got very loud and snappy. She called the waiter over there and then she started reading the things off going from English to Spanish so we really weren't sure. We heard her mention something that we didn't get but we were so frustrated that we just payed and left. read more
