Holy moly!!! I attended a conference in Guntersville this last weekend. Events concluded somewhat early on Saturday and I wanted to make the most of my drive out that way, so I decided to drive a little farther to give Gordo's Way a try. TL;DR -- I'm gonna be making more special trips to Albertville. This restaurant is located on Main Street in Albertville. It's on the corner/end of the street. Street parking is limited but there's a large lot across the street that I took advantage of. They appear to only be open Friday - Sunday so plan accordingly! A few picnic tables are arranged in front of the entrance. The restaurant is small with room for maybe ~25 seats on the inside. You order at the counter. The menu is diverse with a lot of authentic Mexican and Central American dishes. Big focus on birria -- not just tacos, but pizza and ramen too. Service was exceptional! The young woman who greeted me at the counter was so friendly and nice. She immediately caught on it was my first visit and she graciously offered to explain the menu to me. She was exceedingly thorough - more than I truly needed but I didn't mind because she was so sweet - and she knew her stuff! If you're new to this cuisine at all, Gordo's Way would be a great place to explore because the staff will take care of you. They have several containers of aguas frescas, to include cucumber pineapple, horchata, orange pineapple, etc. I knew I wanted one but couldn't pick -- they kindly offered me a sample. The cucumber pineapple was perfect -- delightfully refreshing, not too sweet but not too cucumbery either, and so that was my choice. I ordered two birria tacos with a side of rice and beans to accompany my beverage. This was actually my first time trying birria. I've waited to try it because I wanted to try it somewhere I was confident would do it well -- reviews led me here. I wasn't disappointed. It was delicious: the beef was chewy, savory, succulent, so moist; the onions were crunchy but unobtrusive; the tortilla was thin and crispy; and the consommé for dipping was perfectly umami and surprisingly not insanely messy. The only thing that didn't completely knock my socks off was the rice. It wasn't bad, just kind of standard. The beans were, I think, charro beans -- definitely pintos, not refried. They were smoky and tender. Go out of your way to Gordo's Way -- you will not regret it. read more

I've heard rave reviews about this place far and wide. The outside of the building is very inviting, but the inside was not. Based on that outward appearance I didn't expect 1970's Dairy Queen booth seating, which was a huge turn off. The food seemed to be over hyped, the loaded fries and the quesadilla were subpar. I have higher expectations that this place does not hold a candle to. I've been across the United States and this would rank at the bottom. It is important to be honest, and if this is the normal of what people consider high quality good tasting Mexican food, you haven't had the real good stuff yet. This place is not it. At this time I don't believe Albertville has a place that serves Mexican food that has met my expectation for a burrito style, presentation, and taste that I long for. read more

I stumbled across birra tacos while a family trip to Little Rock two years ago. They have pledged my dreams every since. In South Georgia they do not exist!! I am here visiting family and was taken to Gordo's. I went in with high hopes but ready to be disappointed. But let me tell you I almost cried at how good they were!!!! Also got an order of chorizo fries. Ohh my!! Tried the watermelon and orange/pineapple drinks!! So good!! Just know i will be visiting Gordo's every time in am in town!!! Will be trying everything on this menu. The staff was very helpful in explaining what came on each item. A-MAZ-ING!!! The Keto Tacos were just beyond. They are beef (like pulled roast/something awesome) with a cheese casing/encapsulated wonderment!! Hands down, HAVE to stop by this place. All of the employees are sweet enough to give you a cavity. They are beyond helpful with any questions you may have. This place is honestly the fabled story of "hole in the wall" joint that you NEED to stop in on. VERY clean even though you would assume it's not. STOP!! Stop in and try these folks out. We had the best lunch today. The lady at the counter was very nice and explained all the menu items in detail and showed us pictures. We had the Birria tacos and the cali burrito. I wasn't sure if the Birria was goat or beef but it ended up being beef and it was so good. A lot of people had the ramen and we will definitely try that next time. been goin here for awhile and the customer services has always been great. the new waitress who took my order last night made me feel outta place. She kept ignorin me to answer phone calls and she did this last weekend as well. The food is great like always but customer service has been awful these last couple of times I went in. I will still recommend to eat here but I hope the new staff gets better training in customer service read more
