Took my girlfriend to this restaurant yesterday afternoon as part of our date. I haven't been to Albertville in 4 years and I finally found time to go, since I'm always talking to my girlfriend about going back to Albertville. My girlfriend got the Jose Nachos and I got a dish (I can't remember the name of it) that contained refried beans, rice, and cheese mixed with peppers, onions and steak. The food we got was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly. I missed coming to this restaurant and I hope I can come back soon. read more

We had a nice lunch today at El Sol king pollo. Our waitress was SUPER sweet and we loved all of the menu items that were available. Their chips and salsa were great and the green sauce added just the right flavor to the menu items! Would definitely go back !!! read more

This hole in the wall Mexican place is to absolute die for. We tried the tacos del sol with flour tortilla and steak and I kid you not when I say these are the best tacos I've ever had the pleasure of eating, I mean.... thee very best. They serve it with 2 salsa like sauces one green one that tastes like lime and a red one that is spicier than the green but has Excellent flavor so it's worth the kick. The chips and salsa they served with it were incredible. The chips were warm and the salsa was the perfect flavorful amount of spice. We are only in town for a few days and will probably be back again before we leave because we will never get Mexican food this good back in NY. read more

This is another of my great places to eat on old Main Street of Albertville. Food is delicious and locals eat here all the time for lunch and dinner. Menu is great and everything is made to order. Well I have to give a 3 star here's why. We (2 of us) went at 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and ordered grilled chicken...our server said oh...just a minute I'll be right back, she came back and said we are out of grilled chicken...just sold the last one. I told her we needed more time to look ...while we're looking at the menu trying to decide on something else, a party of 3 adults and 6 children came in sat very close to us, speaking in Spanish the eldest lady ordered grill chicken for all of them. Yes....you guessed it....suddenly they had plenty of grilled chicken enough for them and us....our waitress came over and said " we have enough grilled chicken for you but then we're out....the first time in my life I felt pure discrimination. If the Mexican patrons had not wanted chicken we wouldn't have got any...I guess they are used to this....only reserving it for Hispanic patrons....boom...tip drop to 10 percent....VERY bad for business ! read more

It takes a horrible experience for me to leave a bad review. I'll take the time to explain the issues of the evening in order of the most ridiculous to obnoxious, not the order it occurred. We had a birthday party for a friend and his wife called ahead to make sure they could accommodate us on a Thursday night. 3 days prior she informed King Pollo that the party would be less than 25 people. The day before she called back up to the store to update them that a few had to cancel that less than 20 would show. The night of did not start off great. We had a mother at the table with a seafood allergy, severe seafood allergy and did not have an Epi pen with her. She informed the waitress that she had an anaphylactic response to her seafood allergy, she only wanted to insure that her steak would not come in contact with the seafood. The waitress took the rest of the tables orders and came back to tell the mother that they cook all meats and seafoods on the same grill, they wouldn't be able to clean the grill for her. The mother insisted it would be fine as long as her food was set aside and separate and clean utensils were used when cooking her steak. The waitress left to ask the owner. When she came back the waitress explained that the owner would not do that for her. The mother explained that it was not a mild allergy so she could not order anything that came in contact with seafood which ended up being chips and salsa. She only ate chips and salsa because no other suggestion or offer was made. Upon time to pay, the birthday gentleman's wife noticed her entree was $5 more than the menu listed it. When she asked the waitress if it was a mistake, the waitress explained the owner sets the prices no matter what the menu says. She wound up paying it because no other suggestion or offer was made. Before the meal our family went to wash our hands in the restroom. They only have one restroom located in the hallway directly behind the kitchen. My wife and kids found 3 roaches between the bathroom and hallway. She even snapped a few pictures of the insect display. After washing up and sitting at the table the waitress offered to take our drink orders as the guests trickled in. Some of the guests were trying to leave work at a car lot, which as you would expect, they can't always leave when it's "closing time" because the customer comes first at a car lot. The waitress told us the owner would not allow her to bring out chips and salsa even for those that were already sitting at the table until the full party arrived. The waitress told us this more than once but as more people arrived she decided to bring out some chips for us and especially our kids to snack on while we waited and soon after ordered. Not a huge deal compared to everything else, but just annoying. I won't speak of the food, good or bad, because after everything that had happened it was hard to enjoy. Lastly, not saying that it was the food, but within an hour of eating our son was throwing up. (No fever, has not been symptomatic, no signs of illness beforehand) Our waitress was sweet and was caught up between the owner refusing to assist us. When we asked to speak to the owner we were informed that she wouldn't speak to us and that nothing would be done. If you are downtown Albertville wanting a great dinner, look elsewhere. read more

Good restaurant, and one of my favorites in this area. The servers are friendly and get you your food in a reasonable amount of time, even when they are busy. I recommend the "camarones a la diabla" or devilled shrimp. The drinks are not half bad, either. read more

I have never been more frustrated with service and staff as I was tonight when trying to celebrate my husband's birthday. We have never had a problem here before, but we absolutely will not be back after tonight. 3 days prior to the get together, I called to make sure there would be a place for our party of 20-25 people. I was irritated with what it took to book this room because I was asked multiple times if I was SURE that many people would show up and if we could leave by 7:45. (They close at 8.) I was annoyed, but of course said we would be out with no problem because we all have children to put to bed. The day OF The get together, 4 people cancelled due to work or children's sporting events. Only 17 of us showed up out of the 20-25 i was projecting. A few of these guests got held up at work and trickled in later than expected. While waiting for them, we asked if we could get our chips & salsa appetizer to snack on (mainly for our kids) and they refused. The server informed us that the owner said we had to wait until the whole party arrived. This was irritating because our kids were antsy and hungry. Soon after, she began to take our orders. One of my friends has a severe shellfish allergy as requested that her food be cooked away from the shrimp that a few of us had ordered. The server returned shortly after to inform us that the owner said all of the food would be cooked together. So my friend explained that she would go into anaphylactic shock if she came in contact with the shellfish so could they at least use different utensils and the owner refused. My friend did not get to eat and sat there while the rest of us did. At the end of our visit, I noticed my bill was higher than it should have been. When I looked back at the menu, I noticed the entrée I ordered ($10.99) was marked out on my ticket and changed to $14.99. When I asked the server about this she informed me that the owner sometimes changes prices but doesn't reflect them in the menu. This is called false advertisement and is illegal FOR THE RECORD. I had enough at this point and asked to speak to the owner and was told she would not see us and would not change anything because "she's the owner and can do what she wants". On top of all of this, there were multiple roaches spotted in the bathrooms and hallway near the kitchen. I am highly disappointed and hope they don't treat paying customers like this often. read more

By far the only Mexican Place in Albertville I want to eat at.. They are hands down 'the best' The food is always cooked to order and the staff is always friendly. They have my family hooked on their burritos that are massive and the prices are very good. Not too expensive but once you see and taste the food you feel like you have found a gem in town.
