Update on ring six years later, no more sapphires have fallen out, despite almost daily wear. This year a small piece of orange sapphire chipped - probably from me whapping my hand in a wall or something - it's barely noticeable and I know sapphire is much less strong than diamond as a stone. Very disappointed in the quality of the product and the difficulty in repairing the issue with our jewelery. We purchased a necklace and bracelet which was actually not an inexpensive item(s). Bracelet had a magnetic clasp, which after a year came apart. Took it back to have it repaired and it took a month to repair it and have it sent back to me. One month after receiving the repaired item, it broke again. Have to say I do not think I will purchase any items in the future. I have decided I will just take it to my local jeweler and have it repaired even though it will cost me to fix it. Would rather spend the money than have to endure their repair process again. My family has been shopping at Na Hoku ever since I was young. I remember my father buying my Mom Hawaiian heirloom jewelry, as well as receiving Hawaiian heirloom jewelry at important times in my life. That tradition continues bc I made sure I introduced mija to Na Hoku. On one trip to O'ahu I even let her pick her own piece out and didn't give her a budget. Glad she didn't broke da kala (break my wallet) LOL. On this occasion, I dropped by the Na Hoku very close to the Moana where I stayed. The clasp on my koa wood bracelet (the same as in the profile pic), was loose and needed to be repaired. I spoke to Hendrix, the Manager. He recognized the piece right away, and said it would be no charge for the repair. He said it should be repaired b4 I returned to the mainland, but if not, there is a $17.50 charge for shipping. The piece was ready b4 I returned, and now the clasp is secure. My bracelet had fallen off a few times, and I could not wear it. I was happy to wear my bracelet the remainder of the trip. Na Hoku has been open for nearly 100 years (opened in 1924) for a reason. They are known as Hawaii's Jeweler bc they offer unique pieces that Hawaiians love, they stand behind their products, and they provide excellent service. My family has been shopping here for three generations, and I hope when mija starts her family, she carries on that tradition. read more

Yesterday I went to this store. I politely asked to see a pair of gold pearl earrings with safety clip design . The salesperson said okay. Then on her way to show me, she asked an Asian couple what they were interested and proceeded to help them. She looked at me and asked me to wait. (In a nice voice). I wait a couple of minutes and felt insulted and left. Very poor decision and disrespectful. I'm Asian and retired. Will not go back to this store again. The salespeople need to be trained to help customers one by one and not skip around. Still upset at this rude behavior. ***Update: I've thought about this situation. I don't think the sales person thought about her actions. That's why I wanted to bring awareness and suggest training all sales persons to: 1. Greet each customer as they enter the store and let each person know they are there to help and to answer questions. 2. Help one person at a time. Glad I didn't pull the trigger on classic bangles to surprise them, decided to let them pick out themselves and they wanted rings! da Goods: Kai went with a yellow gold free form pink fresh water pearl Maile ring with diamond accents and da wife went with a Rose gold Maile scroll 1/3 carat ring... and well, I got myself a Steel bracelet with Koa Wood inlays... what the heck right? Beautiful stuff. da Service: Actually went to Ala Moana 1st... wasn't feeling the Aloha, then Lewers (closed), but at Kalakaua they were soooooo nice, I was actually in there 2 times doing the looksy-loo thing and they were so helpful. When finally came back Christmas Day to buy, it was Moon who helped us and really took her time with my girls - I really appreciate the great customer service. Wife's ring had to get sized (quoted 2-3 days) but only took ONE DAY... and this was over the holidays! Was only a 2K purchase, but they treated us like it was 10k! This is easily one of the most unique jewelry shops I've ever been in. They advertise in Hawaiian Airlines magazine, so when we saw a location we had to stop in. Their prices are about on par with any other jewelry store, but they craft and supply some very unique pieces meant to evoke Hawaii-- from a sandal pendant necklace to earrings that evoke waves approaching a beach. They also have plumeria shaped jewelry. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything we were interested in. So disappointed with the item that I bought, plumeria dangling earring, the floating one plumeria fell off , after 3 weeks use...I mean wow, the quality of it, when I called customer service, she explained that loss of a part of jewelry is not covered, even if its quality issue. Addendum: called the hotline on july 13 or 14th, spoke to a female customer rep, explained to her i bought the items in waikiki branch around june 16, 2015. Perfect customer service. The store manager Beth, and also Cindy, were beyond kind and helpful with our situation. We had purchased my wedding ring at a bay area location but decided to get it sized in Hawaii since it would have to get sent out there anyway, and we did not want to risk not getting it back in time for our trip. When we landed in Oahu a couple days before our last minute wedding, we walked into the store and explained the situation. They were so understanding and worked it out so that we could just use the ring for the ceremony and then send it out to get resized afterward. They promised a 4 day turnaround. As promised, we were able to pick it up 4 days later. Although it fit snug, the next day it felt uncomfortable and I had to battle hard to take it off, leaving my finger feeling raw. I thought that perhaps the resized ring was not going to work. We went back with our concern, and Beth explained that people tend to swell up a bit during travel and she advised for me to give it a few days after we get home before trying it on again and before going in for a resize. She made sure to email the bay area location to give them a heads up on the situation so that they would be expecting me if I needed to go that route. Beth was right. When we got home I waited a couple days and my ring fits perfect, comes off perfectly, no problem. This company really takes care of its customers. Took gf here to buy earrings. Was pleasantly greeted and was feeling welcomed through out the experience. Unfornuately, after purchasing 2 earring sets, one for her mom and one for herself. The following day gf decided to return both because her mom doesn't like the pearl earring, as for her, she realized the closing mechanism hurts and very difficult for her to remove etc. Overall, I'm rating based on the purchasing and returning experience which I felt this place did a good job. No attitude whatsoever on the returning part which shows their professionalism. My husband always buys me a piece of jewelry when on vacation, well never again, stick with your home town jewelers. We purchased a Red Spiny Oyster ring set in 14 K gold on 10/27/15 at Pearl Factory in Las vegas. Less than two years later a segment of the spiny oyster shell fell out, I notified them in writing asking for the procedure for repair on their "lifetime guarantee" , since we were planning on returning to Las Vegas in less than 6 months, I choose to return the ring in person. I was told they would need to send it to Hawaii to Na Hoku. To make a long story short, there is no warranty, they said the warranty was for "normal wear and tear". Not sure how wearing a ring "on occasion" for less than 2 years would not be normal wear and tear. Anyway, they offered to repair the ring for nearly $300, I explained to them to return the ring to me and I will have it repaired at a reputable jeweler. Buyer beware. 10/4/18 - Na Hoku and Pearl Factory has replied they offered to discount the repair, yes, they dropped the price approximately $30 for the repair which still put the repair well over $200 which made no sense since they offered a "lifetime warranty", again for normal wear and tear, which after a few wearings I would think would fall under normal wear and tear. As I stated, I will only deal with "hometown" jewelers now both for purchases and repairs. This has taught me a valuable lesson. read more

Went shopping in Waikiki during our staycation at the Hale Kulani. Walked in here because I've been looking for some Tahitian pearls for my gf. Sales staff looked at us, then ignored us. I guess we didn't look the part of the tourist that was gonna shell out a lot of money. We stood there at the counter for a good 3-5 minutes looking at the pearls, with a few items that she really liked. The sales lady just stood 10 feet away from us at the same counter, looking at papers. I took the hint, and we spent our money on a few new purses instead. I like Na Hoku design and love the concept but if you have small ring size, they might give you little trouble later on. We had a great service from Ala Moana NaHoku store when my husband got an engagement ring few years back and went on to upgrade to a bigger diamond for our wedding Anniversary together. Since my ring size was 4.5 and they only had size 6, the trademark leaf carvings on wedding band was compromised when making the ring size smaller but it was still very pretty design over all. They come with cleaning and stone fitting warranty- which is always well worth the investment....so I thought. Well, just the other day I went to this store on Kalakaua for the first time while looking for a birthday gift and asked for the cleaning while I was at it, the staff there denied my Wedding ring was their brand.... I explained the design was compromised when Na Hoku jeweler downsized my ring band and attached bigger diamond, but she was not happy that I was asking for the cleaning and asked me to go to AlaMoana store where it was purchased since they were too busy to look into their system for my proof of purchase. No customer was at the store during that time. I went few blocks down to the Beach Walk store and their service was great, they recognized the design right away and cleaned my ring and recommended refitting the stone. Kalakaua location is prime for Waikiki so maybe they don't have time for customer care or they were maybe stressed that I was there to spend $50 not $5k, but this was bitter experience for my ring that I LOVE!!!! read more

i bought a $500 gold charm which they attached to my charm bracelet. The charm fell off the very same day because the clasp they used split apart. They refused to replace the charm. It was a special so my husband purchased a 2nd one for me. They did not even offer a discount. We asked to have the charm soldered to the bracelet so it wouldn't fall off again. The clasp they used was not gold and tarnished within 2 days. Very disappointed. read more

A year ago I got a beautiful rose gold flip flop necklace...constantly getting compliments on it too. I wear it every day & somehow broke the chain, but I managed to clasp it closed (kind of ghetto looking). SO, walking past this store, I decided to ask if they have a jeweler on site that can repair my chain. I was bummed to learn they'd have to ship it off, which I can't do since I live in Cali & would be going home before it would be fixed. I was prepared to continue wearing it ghetto-like until I find a jeweler in Cali, but manager Julia was nearby and became my hero. She and an employee (equally nice) were on a mission to find the same chain in store for me so I can swap it out. Perhaps they didn't want me to represent Na Hoku with my ghetto chain clasp...but I think it's moreso that they're just that awesome! :) So grateful for their kindness. Mahalo!! read more

Our experience with na hoku began about 8 months ago when we purchased a beautiful emerald and white gold ring with side baguette diamonds as a wedding band. It was a size 7 and I needed a 5.5. We took it home and brought it back within the week for resizing. In that time through researching I discovered that a size change that large especially going down in size would greatly alter the integrity of the ring and make it very likely to lose side diamonds. Upon return I explained my concern to the sales lady. She assured me not to worry. After the resizing the ring looked great. Within a few months the emerald came loose and as I pointed it out to my husband I discovered the bottom of the ring had bent. He took it to the jeweler for repair. A few days later we got it back and one of the prongs holding the emerald had been flattened in order hold the emerald. Over the next few months I scarcely wore the ring because of work. I went to put it on after not wearing it and the emerald falls out. Again this ring is about 6 months from purchase. We take it to the store and explain the situation where at first my husband is told that is normal wear and tear. However the store manager made sure to explain the big favor she is doing by exchanging the ring and further stating the rings problems were wear and tear. After explaining that the problems came from resizing she went on to disrespect me and try to get my husband to agree with her. I almost left the $2000 ring after being treated that way. After searching the store for a ring that would be less dainty we selected a nalani ring with channel set diamonds and rose gold again beautiful. Given the first disaster I was Leary of the stones and were told since we sized up to a 5.5 it would push the diamonds in and not to worry. We were told it would be done by Wednesday. On Saturday when no ring appeared we called and were told that it should have shipped but the store will follow up Monday. On Monday we find out that this ring had loose stones and was not shipped because of that. Well this confirmed my beliefs about the workmanship. After explaining this was unacceptable and what we've gone through I was told that a completely new ring in my size would be delivered the next day and that they would call with a tracking number. When no one called we called them and then found out that the ring would not be delivered until the next day. This is poor quality merchandise and terrible customer service. Go to a more reputable jeweler your money should get you value and excellent service. read more
