I have endless good things to say about this thoughtfully designed and incredibly talented restaurant and bar. First, just let me say - stop looking. You've found your next meal. Chef Ben made our night when he came out to chat with us about the turmeric aioli we were enjoying with the small plate of potatoes. I just discovered Louisville is a 2 hour drive from where I live and have come back twice in 2 months. Both stays, I've managed to eat at Naïve twice. I love delicious, plant forward menu. Cauliflower, pickle plate, anything with broccolini. I'm an omnivore, so the steak and short ribs and crispy chicken sandwish have also been items I've enjoyed. The only thing I've tried that I didn't want to rave about was the salmon croquettes (just not as flavorful as you'd think based on the kimchi mention and the breading takes over), but I give them a pass considering how much everything else is top notch!! Don't sleep on that dark chocolate torte. On my most recent visit, I tried some of the cocktails and there is just nothing I won't order from this place. Not sure if this will make any sense, but this place gives major Cali vibes. I went in on my own, solo, and was able to grab one of the last seats at the bar. The place has plenty of tables and a rather large bar and it was mostly full. Good for them! It was brunch time, and one of the few places in Louisville that has a bottomless drink option. I didn't do that, but it was cool to see. Anyway, the staff were very friendly and I ordered with ease. I decided to get the polenta brunch plate and a side of sausage -- anticipating the plate on its own might be light. As I said before, I didn't do bottomless mimosas... but I saw that they had a mimosa flight and got quite curious. When the staff explained everything to me, I was sold immediately because of how creative the flavors were. Let me break it down: Blueberry basil: it was perfect, down to the last drop. The basil complimented it so well! Prickly pear: A flavor that I love but get to have so rarely. It was delicious... definitely the sweetest in the bunch. Strawberry coconut: nice combo, and frothy. There was lime in there too, which stood out. These were crafted by the bartender herself, and she walked me through her process of coming up with them. She did a fantastic job on each one. It far exceeded my expectations of flights where you just get like... orange, pineapple, cranberry... and maybe mango if you're lucky. The polenta brunch plate was indeed light as I expected, but the presentation was wonderful and it was really tasty! Glad I had that sausage. I could've eaten even more honestly. But I had a long day ahead and I didn't want to be too stuffed. I would eagerly recommend this place to anyone in the area, and it's on more of the eastern side. So while it was crowded that day, it doesn't get quite as packed as other places more central in Louisville. read more

Don't walk, RUN to the new Naive! If you haven't heard they rebranded and it was the best decision they could have ever made! The Latin fusion cuisine is absolutely divine!! The restaurant inside is a bit small but I hear they have a huge patio. The menu is amazing and big enough to all diets. I can't remember looking specifically for vegan but definitely had vegetarian options. The drink menu is pretty big as well and I enjoyed my watermelon margarita. Wasn't too sweet. Thankfully! The food is absolutely amazing and I still dream of their empanadas! The ceviche was to die for! read more

I don't know how many chances I have to give Naive. Most of the time it's mediocre and I'm not upset about it. But this most recent visit was disappointing. We sat outside which was lovely, the patio is the best thing going for Naive. The service was fine, although at times it did feel like we were forgotten. But there were also times where too many people were being attentive and we had three big bottles of water on our table. We never did get the ketchup we asked for... Anyway the biggest disappointment were the drinks, no one seems to know to make a latte or tea beverage. Don't bother ordering a chai, matcha or even a coffee. The food was fine but not good enough for me to give them another chance. There are better places to eat in Butchertown. read more

My partner and I were in town for a comedy show, we stopped by here beforehand and it was great! It is tapas style, so we split a larger dish and ordered 3 small plates with a snack. We loved the atmosphere, the decor was wonderfully thought out. It was very clean, and we appreciated the restrooms being gender neutral. The service was fantastic, at one point my partner dropped his napkin and the server brought over a clean, folded one before we even noticed! Food came out fast and hot as well, and the servers were all friendly and accommodating. The food was mostly delicious, we loved the small plate Crispy Halloumi Salad and the snack cheese stuffed dates. We didn't exactly love the Crispy Rice dish or the Roasted Beets, but they were both so well prepared and beautiful that we really couldn't complain. We will definitely stop back in whenever we're back in Louisville, especially because they have a seasonal menu. read more

I had heard this was a great place to come, and overall, I agree. The back area for outdoor seating is lovely they have picnic and regular tables with chairs. The landscaping is very nicely done. The waiter was helpful and kind, and I can't recommend the tempura cauliflower enough! The fries were good, too! The drink menu is interesting with a variety of creative combinations. I do want to alert you to the sake they use. It is the kind they have in vending machines in Japan, so not great, but I guess it doesn't really matter if you're putting it into a mixed drink.... Another good poiny about the restaurant is they were a little backed up in our waiter kept us informed, which was great.. The concerns are twofold, one is outside the control of the establishment and the other is not. First is the parking. As you would expect with any neighborhood eatery, finding a spot to park can be difficult, especially if you don't pay attention like we did and go on the same night that there is a soccer game... The other concern is a little more serious, and I hope that they will rectify it directly. When ordering dinner, we all got the red snapper, which was delicious, but the plate came with pine nuts on it, but there was no indication of any nuts in the dish on the menu. Luckily, my friend, who is very allergic, didn't eat any of it, and our waiter quickly offered to bring a fresh plate and fresh silverware because she touched the fish with her utensils. However,sadly,the makeup dish never arrived. We ended up canceling that and it was taken off the bill... One final, note the ice cream is amazing but the other desserts are fair at best. Our first meal in KY and it was a pleasant surprise. Love love love the food, the ambiance, the service... you name it and it's spot on! This restaurant is heaven for vegetarians/vegans/GF etc. I got the 24K Latte due to the peer pressure from Yelp photos and I wasn't disappointed. Really liked the balance of flavors in the drink. I would have liked it better if it was made hot, it was served warm instead. I also got the breakfast burrito with vegan egg in it. So flavorful!!! My husband got General Tso's Cauliflower which was pretty good for cauliflower wings. He also got the Garden Burger which came with spicy fried tiny potatoes. The potatoes knocked my socks - they were that good! The burger patty was fine, I really liked the cole slaw that was used as burger fixings. Our bill was $62 for 2 drinks, 1 appetizer and 2 entrees. My wife and I go to Naive at least once every couple of months. It's one of her favorite restaurants because she has a gluten allergy, and they have a great GF selection. I also love it because the atmosphere is very welcoming, the service is top notch and the food gets better every time we go. We normally go for weekend brunch, so we start with a mimosa flight, which sets the right tone. The corn cakes and polenta were excellent. Very filling on their own, but great to split as well. My wife also got a salad, which was refreshing, while I piled on the potatoes. The DJ enhanced the experience, and since Naive is right near Butchertown and NuLu, it was the start to an amazing Sunday of bar hopping. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

It has been a while since my hubby and I went out to a nice romantic dinner and we wanted to try out Naive for a "date night". We had catered our Christmas dinner from here and absolutely loved it. What drew us to Naive is that they use local vendors, the food is plant-based with a couple of dishes for those who like meat, and most of the fare is gluten-free. It's rare that I can go somewhere and choose almost anything from the menu so I was stoked!! When we arrived we were welcomed by beautiful decor and wonderful ambiance, and it was a Tuesday night so we practically had the place to ourselves. Since this was a special night for us, we decided to order everything our little hearts desired including cocktails. Let's start unpacking how amazing this meal was starting with the cocktails - the Bitter Ex and Beeting Heart. Since the Bitter Ex is made with bourbon (which has gluten) I asked if they could switch that out for Mezcal without sacrificing flavor and they said it wouldn't and they did. Oh em gee... It really was delicious, tart, and smokey, easily the best cocktail I have had in years. The Beeting Heart was a close, close second! Sweet and tart with a ring of sugar on the rim, it really dances in your mouth. Both drinks were a perfect balance of flavor and although strong, the alcohol didn't take over the drinks. We had decided to eat dinner Tapas style and ordered quite a few dishes: General Tso's Cauliflower - absolutely delicious, one of my favorite dishes. Tangy, sweet, savory, and not heavy. Just fantastic. Hot Nashville Cauliflower - Breaded (GF) and fried it has a southern flare with a nice hot kick. Very good, but honestly, if I had to choose it would be the General Tso's over this dish. Crispy Skin Salmon - Delicate, flaky, buttery, everything a good piece of Salmon should be. The confit potatoes were the perfect compliment. Oyster Mushrooms - AH-MA-ZING. So tasty, I loved them. It came as a mixture of Oyster and Baby Bellas, very delicious. Dessert: CBD Brownie - Rich, oh so rich. You couldn't tell it is gluten-free. The perfect ending to an incredible meal. With a nice cup of coffee? Perfection. I really liked the atmosphere at Naive and we had great service as well. They take online reservations which I always appreciate. The drinks were fantastic. I had a mocktail but my dining partner had the beet margarita which I took a sip of, and it was one of the best cocktails I have had in a while. I love the veggie forward menu. We started with a snap pea appetizer and my entree, the pesto orecchiette also had snap peas in it. Everything was good and really fresh but both dishes also needed a touch of salt. The snap peas also were not strung and some of the strings were a little tough. My partner's risotto was seasoned well and very tasty. While planning our Christmas dinner with the family in Louisville, since we were arriving late in the day, we didn't want to have to worry about meal preparation. The plan was to have a meaningful dinner with close family. To that effect, we were looking for a place whose offerings resonate with our lifestyle. And so in the process of searching for the right place, we came across Naive. Needless to say, we ordered the food and picked it up, and enjoyed an amazing meal among family. The next time an opportunity came up for us to go out and enjoy a good time together in a restaurant, the obvious choice was Naive. Their food offerings are fantastic, with great attention to detail, and they are consistent with their philosophy of supporting the community with locally sourced ingredients. The experience in the restaurant was also quite special. Our server was warm, enthusiastic, and cheerful, our special requests were met with a can-do attitude and the end result was a wonderful evening, good food, good company, and good service. Admittedly I'm a little embarrassed by this experience. I suggested this place for lunch to our group of party people on our walk between distilleries. Even though I called ahead, the kitchen definitely did NOT expect such an influx of customers in the middle of a weekday. Most importantly, I didn't care for the food, as cute as this place looked. I started with a Golden Latte, which was tasty. Definitely needed caffeine to wake me up from the early start that day. I got the Nashville Hot Cauliflower, which turned out to be greasy and flavorless. Super disappointing! My friend next to me got the Naive Burger, which was just okay as well. Aw man, I really wanted to like the food here. We ended up getting most of the food to-go because of our time crunch. I'll give the kitchen my benefit of the doubt that they were rushed and sloppy with the food because we had so many people. This place looked a lot nicer than I felt the service was. We walked in and the server asked the ladies behind us if they had reservation when we were clearly in front first. Second our table was broken, and I don't know how they didn't realize it by simply cleaning it bc the whole top was ready to fall off. There's def no children's menu which wasn't a big deal as some places are just like that. My husband got the bottomless mimosa but had to remind them a lot for the second refill, and it's mostly orange juice... when my snadwich came out they brought me with no egg but it was an egg sandwich. Then I asked for an egg for it, and they brought me scrambled eggs for a sandwich. They eventually brought a fried egg. Overall, the service didn't match the vibe online. My friend and I came to Naive for lunch on a Friday afternoon and had a good meal! The atmosphere inside is great, and although it wasn't warm enough to sit outside when we were there, I could tell that the patio would be such a nice spot to sit during nicer weather! We each got a mocktail to start. My friend got the Turmeric Mule and I got the "In the Garden" (strawberry basil shrub, agave, and topo chico). Both were delicious and really hit the spot! To eat, I got the Pesto Cauliflower Katsu (with radicchio, lemon, and garlic). The menu didn't say anything about it being a sandwich, so I was surprised when it came out between two pieces of white bread! The cauliflower was already heavily breaded, so I didn't think the dish really need any extra bread. It was tasty, though I thought it could have used a bit more sauce! It also came with a side of fries, so by the end of the meal, I was pretty starched-out. My friend got the Ramen Siciliano (with ricotta salata and basil) which I tried - it was yummy! Very veggie friendly here, but what attracted me to this spot was of course the mimosa flight. I can't lie. Today's variety was grapefruit, blueberry and watermelon. The glasses hold a decent quantity, so this adventure is definitely worth the $$. My guest and I were surprised that our flavor preference turned out to be the exact opposite of what we expected. For my meal I ordered the muffin tops and the fingerling hash. The muffin tops were not what I expected, the tasted more like soft cookies. The jam that came with is was spectacular. I was tempted to lick the little container it came in, as well as the knife I used to spread it. Being a carnivor, I was a bit hesitant, but the server suggested I order an egg on top of my fingerling hash. I followed her advice and it turned out to be delicious. The whole dish was just so nicely balanced and flavorful, a delight to eat. Here you get delicious innovative veggie friendly fare, top notch cocktails, cool vibe, beautiful and welcoming interior, friendly staff and to top it off: the prices are reasonable. This place is exactly what we were looking for. We had just driven back from a hike in Indiana when we wanted to take a break from the rain and grab a small light lunch. We stopped into Naive and was seated right away. The inside was cozy fun and cute. The staff was super friendly and excited to see us and help us get settled. My wife ordered a breakfast burrito and I grabbed a small salad and then we grabbed some chai lattes for drinks to warm us up a bit. The food was super bright and clean and fresh. The chai latte's were warm and spiced perfectly and hit the spot. What a great experience! We took advantage of one of the featured movie nights out on the patio for our first time. Their outdoor space is welcoming ans beautiful! General Tsaos cauliflower was AMAZING!!! Smash burger (with lambs apple butter, blue cheese) was absolutley mind blowing. Although they were out of sweet potato fries, their shoe string French fries were crispy and delish. Pumpkin fritters - I anticipated that they were sweet they were indeed savory. Cocktails were on point, super creative. Only downside is the "drs orders" (Jell-O shot in giant plastic syringe was pretty tasteless, but fun to order! Just left there and very disappointed. My daughter told the server she is allergic to gluten and tomatoes. The server told her she could have the breakfast sandwich on a gluten free bun. The sandwich comes and she takes a big bite- into tomato pesto and a raw pork pattie. The waitress assured us she would take the sandwich off our bill. Thanks. My daughter spent the next 30 minutes in the bathroom vomiting. On top of all that there is baby shower going on whose ballon's kept popping throughout our meal. I have mixed feelings about this review. Overall the staff was lovely, but overall experience was lacking. We went here as group of 7. Originally, had a reservation for ten but had to last minute change it and they were pleasant and had no issue with the adjustment. Drinks took forever to get. Like probably 30 minutes for two of the people in our group. And at least 20 for the rest of us. I ordered salmon very well done, it came out and was not just not well done, but entirely undercooked. Two other individuals at the table ordered the salmon too, and while they did not wants theirs to be very well done as I did, felt theirs were undercooked as well. I sent mine back to be cooked longer and they happily obliged. Menu didn't include details it needed. For example, my husband ordered a burger. It didn't say that it came with side of anything. So he ordered a small plate of the potatoes. Then the burger comes out and it has potatoes with it, so he thought w they just played it together. But then the order of potatoes he ordered came out separately. He would not have added that has the menu said burger came w a side or if the waitress has clarified that when we added the side. Everything was fine, nothing was spectacular. Food came out in very weird order/stages. Overall, our waitress was lovely. But for price I expect things to run smoother and taste great. read more

I've frequented Naive over the years and have always loved it, but it is truly better than it's ever been! I recently visited for brunch and dinner-- both of which were exceptional. Fresh, bold flavors ordered tapas style so you get to enjoy all the goodness! I especially loved the avocado toast, whipped farmer's cheese, English pea hummus, halloumi salad, and lamb meatballs. 17/10! Attentive and quick service amidst a darling environment. The immediately surrounding neighborhood seems residential, but this restaurant was worth a bit of a trek and was walkable from the waterfront. It's hip New American brunch type fare, and I picked it because it was clear I'd be able to get something vegetarian. They had outdoor seating with picnic tables in a fenced in yard that was lightly shaded. However, it was hot enough that I just wanted to sit inside. My fingerling potatoes were quite spectacular, with just enough cheese, herbs, and a sauce with a bit of kick, but nothing so excessive as to dampen the flavor of the skin on potatoes themselves. My kale shroom burger was likewise resplendent, giving off a pleasingly rich aroma for the entire time it lasted, which was not that long. My side salad had a bit much olive oil for my taste, but other than that I was entirely satisfied, and had a refreshing iced chai on the side too. This sort of eclectic food for everybody style restaurant is not common enough in my experience (compared to the profligate restaurants that reminded me of this in Australia), and I would be quite happy to find myself at this spot again. read more

I tried Naive for a Saturday brunch while visiting in town. We were able to seat a group of six with no wait. The indoor decor is chic. The menu leans on the healthy side, and I'd say it's meant for pretty light eating overall. I opted for one of the toast options and a salad. The pear toast sounded flavorful with honey, ricotta. The toppings were ok but the bread wasn't toasted, and the flavors didn't come together as well as I expected. The Tuscan kale salad though was a hit with the flavor! The General Tso's cauliflower was super crunchy and a perfect amount of sweetness. Naïve - What a great restaurant very different cuisine did you were going to love a Louisville treasure! - New American Near Me - Louisville, Kentucky

After researching restaurants in and around the Louisville area, we discovered Naive Kitchen & Bar, and promptly made reservations. I had looked up "must try" eats on Pinterest and Naive kept coming up in my search results. Boy, was it worth it! My husband and I had indulged in pizza, tacos, and treats for most of our stay, so on our last night in town we were looking for something slightly healthier. First off, the atmosphere of this restaurant is awesome. Whether you dine inside or out on the back patio, you're in for a treat. Pergolas, plants, trees, privacy, intimacy... Naive's got it down! Our cocktails were expertly made and incredibly unique. The menu features "shareable" cuisine, kind of like a tapas restaurant-- smaller portions so you can share with your group! We tried the General Tso's Cauliflower to start, which was divine! The Tuscan Kale Salad was fresh and light, perfect for a warm summer night! The Hubbs got the Fried Mushroom Slider, which was a single slider, but nicely-sized and FULL of flavor! He literally said it was the best thing he had eaten all week! My Strawberry Bucatini was the most memorable thing I ate during our entire stay, and I will forever try to replicate that dish at home! Unbelievable flavor profile!! Overall, we were so happy with our experience at Naive, and the next time we're near the Butchertown area of Louisville, we are definitely making another stop in! They have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, which was one of the reasons why we chose to stop by. My husband is a meat eater, so after he told me how much he loved this place, I knew it was worth a 5-star review! We can't wait to dine here again! :) read more
