The Corner restaurant is smack in the middle of Whiskey Row and you won't be disappointed when I tell they sell over 90 different bourbons. The interior is an eclectic mix of tables, chairs, sofas and seating nooks. Some of their space is shared with the Aloft Louisville Downtown hotel, a Marriott boutique hotel. We grabbed two seats at the bar and had two cocktails and two salads for lunch. Our drinks were a Pomegranate Mule ($13.00) with Pomegranate, ginger beer, vodka, and lime, and a regular Margarita. I had a Chicken Cobb Salad ($15.00) with chicken, romaine, deviled eggs, avocado, charred sweet corn, cherry tomato, radish, pickled onion, sunflower seeds, ranch, lemon drizzle. It was excellent, but the Deviled Eggs were missing and replaced by avocado slices. My traveling companion had a Classic Caesar ($13.00) with Romaine, Caesar dressing, parmesan croutons, and crispy kale. She added Chicken for a $6.00 upcharge. The Corner is "dog friendly" and we were thoroughly entertained by the antics of a Great Dane and Bulldog as they interacted. after checking in i wanted something to eat and found this hotel gem. I thought ok hotel bar/food will be ok. Boy was i wrong. the ambiance was warm welcoming and chill. The bartender was awesome and the service he provided was excellent. Very knowledgeable too about Bourbon and we had a great talk. We stopped in with friends for a drink and some snacks. Drinks were good and we liked the martini and old fashion, though prices were a bit higher than I expected for a hotel bar. We were killing time before our reservation for dinner and stopped in here for a couple of drinks. It was fairly steady as you could tell they were individuals there enjoying a beverage after work. We chose to sit at one of the tables, but did have to walk up to the bar to order our drinks. When we wanted to grab an appetizer, we had to go to the bar to order it. We did see that later on they actually had people coming out to the tables to take orders. Like many locations in the Louisville area they definitely have a huge selection of bourbons and are really more of a bar type location for cocktails versus beer, wine or anything else. On my first night in Kentucky, i ended up getting in around 8pm so food options were limited which i just decided to grab something in the hotel. Options were rather limited so i ended up just getting a burger which seemed to be what most folks were getting. I ended up getting the cowboy burger and fries, which just really ended up being something similar to a carls jr western bacon cheeseburger. Overall the burger was decent but had too much sauce so the onion rings got soggy quickly and lost its crunch. Fries were ok too but rather thin for my taste. Overall nothing to really rave about but if your staying in the hotel its a decent option as there really isnt a whole lot of choices nearby other than some other burger stops. read more

We were looking for a moment to escape the chill and stepped in to what I can only describe as a confused mid life crisis. Was it warm? Yes. The selection of food was terrible, the sandwich my husband ordered, a club with guacamole was sad with a hint of lime. They did have an ipa, but sadly between the lack of food options, the dog, and several people playing pool, it was not for me. It may be for you! We stopped in for a quick bite before our tour of the Old Forester distillery, across the street. A simple cafe in the Aloft hotel. The bartender was the only staff in the area, but the place wasn't too crowded, and we received good service. I suggested that we share a club sandwich to get us through the afternoon. And this is the only reason for a less than great review. Not the sandwich we expected. Two slices of toast (forgivable), but the meat and cheese were grilled. The hot meat was loaded up with lettuce, tomato, and avocado. It would have been good, but the hot ingredients wilted the lettuce and made it a little too heavy. The flavor was OK, but it was not really a "club." However - the fries served with the meal were about perfect. Crispy on the outside, tender in the middle, and just enough salt to satisfy. After scoring great street parking we decided to go the Corner in Aloft hotel prior to the Def Leppard & Journey concert. We were warmly greeted by several staff & decided to sit at the bar. They were offering $5 cosmos & mint old fashions. My boyfriend ordered an old fashioned & I went with the Cosmo. I wasn't crazy about my Cosmo, very light on the alcohol. I decided to switch to one of the new Ketel One Botanical cocktails, a peach & orange blossom mule. I enjoyed my mule but the peach & orange blossom flavor was lacking. This was my first time having a botanicals cocktail.... so it's hard for me to say if that's just how it is or the bartenders did light pours. We ordered cocktails from all three bartenders working & noted inconsistencies. Some bartenders would pour right in the glass while others used the jigger. On concert nights the Corner offers a limited food menu. We started out with the three dips & chips. Guacamole, roasted pepper salsa & green chile queso came in jars with a plate of chips. All three sauces were great & I have a really hard time sayin which was my favorite. We still had quite a bit of dipping sauces left after finishing all of our chips. We asked for more chips & were charged $2 for a basket. After finishing our chips & dip we decided to split the double corner burger. The burger came out hot with fresh French fries. We were glad that we split the burger after seeing the double cheeseburger stacked with crispy onions, lettuce, tomatoes, white cheddar cheese & a bourbon glaze. The shoe string fries & the burger were great. Overall we had a great time at the Corner prior to the concert. The staff was great but I wish there was more consistency in pouring of mixed drinks. But we went to the front desk to get seated. We were told it was open seating. The seating is awesome and comfortable. The manager came to us emediatly after seating and said that the server was caught in trafic and said she would be right with us. Then the server came up and took everyone's order including us. Then came back with in moments and brought waters. Then the cocktails. They are priced well. I had a MacAllen 12 which was $14 and a apple martini which was only $9. We had the nachos and deviled eggs and they were delicious. If your looking for fast service great food and delicious cocktails then this is your place! I went during burger week and the cheesesteak burger was FIRE! It was really delicious, full of flavor, and a great deal for $5. I would def go back if that's a regular on the menu. I can't speak for the rest of the menu because I didn't have anything (aside from the fries), but I would like to check it out. I will say that the service wasn't the new. I like the fact you paid before you ate, but it wasn't clear that you seated yourself and had to order at the bar-- some direction or signage would have been nice since we were lost for about 10 minutes. I remember spotting this place off the street. I came before the Justin Bieber concert as we had trouble finding somewhere to eat that didn't have a long wait. It was new at the time, so it wasn't a popular spot quite yet. There were a few people in there and it looked like a guy was getting ready to play some music on his guitar. The space is nice though! It's open and modern and inviting. Definitely a spot to sit and chat with friends for hours. I remember ordering the burger and thinking it was just alright. The fries were good though. Our options for dinner past 9pm were limited. We noted that Corner was a dinner lounge inside the Aloft Hotel, hence it stayed open late, and it had a good rating on Yelp, so here we came. We ordered 2 types of tacos. The fish tacos were very good Tex-Mex tacos. The batter was thin yet maintained the texture of the fish fillet well. The fish fillet was big, providing a bold fresh fish flavour. The sweet and spicy sauce were on point and delicious. The barbacoa tacos had a lot of pulled short ribs. Corner was in Louisville, needless to say the short ribs were marinated right and sauced perfect. A minor note though, I wished they had used corn tortillas instead of flour ones. I thoroughly enjoyed both tacos. If I ever want to eat Tex-Mex, this would be the Tex Mex I would fall in love with. First the atmosphere at the corner restaurant which is located inside the Aloft hotel. The space is fabulous. 5 star. There are multiple seating areas both inside and out. The inside actually runs into the hotel lobby, all one big space. There are tables and chairs. Tables and benches. Couches and chairs with small tables around them. There is a pool table and numerous games sotti g around for patrons to play, jenga, 4 in a row, board games etc. A really cool concept. It was open air with the doors all open to the outside patio where again there were a variety of seating options on the sidewalk. Right in downtown amongst the hustle and bustle of our big little city. Loved that part. But we went to eat there burger for burger week. Once we sat for a bit my friend went to the bar for menus as st this point we did not realize it was bsr service only. Meaning you had to order food and drink at the bar. Wait staff did bring your food to you once it was prepared. It was just not really clear that was the procedure for getting served. Staff were not especially friendly. An an attitude of almost indifference. Now to the burger. Very disappointing. It had minimal ingredients on it. It was supposed to have a variety of toppings but if you looked close you might have seem a bite of those toppings. French fries were good. Hot and crispy. We split the skillet peach cobbler and were not pleased with it either. It was dry. So food was a one star. After we ate inside we stepped outside on the sidewalk patio and sat on comfortable overstuffed lawn furniture. That was pleasant. We went here for 502 lunch week and had a bad experience. However, they were kind enough to right their wrong and we had a totally different experience for dinner a few weeks ago. First, let me say the atmosphere is 5 stars. It is beautiful and cozy at the same time. If I were able to drink right now (I am pregnant) I would grab cocktails here on the regular. This would be a perfect spot to get an appetizer and drink before heading to the Yum Center or Actor's Theater. The food menu is fairly limited. I am not sure if it will stay that way or if it changes. The Brussel Sprout skillet app is soooo good. A must have if you go. I tried the deviled eggs and didn't really care much for them. They needed a little spice or something. For entrees, we ordered the crispy fish tacos and the Burger and fries. The tacos were much better than the ones they served me on 502 lunch week. The burger is very good too. It is HUGE! I preferred the burger to the tacos. The service this time was great but the first time it was terrible. I think it is something they are working on. Before my visit, I hadn't heard particularly glowing reviews of this place. And as it is a little outside of my comfort area (distance-wise), I just hadn't gotten around to trying it for myself. But when a coworker asked if I wanted to join her for lunch one day during 502 Lunch Week, after perusing the menus, Corner was at the top of my list! For the week, they had the most options, as well as the widest variety, including vegetarian, meat and fish options. So we took a longer lunch and walked over to the restaurant on a thursday morning. We got there around 11:30ish and there were maybe only 2 other tables there. We sat ourselves and a waiter was by soon to take our order. For $15 you got two courses. I got the kale caesar salad to start and the fish tacos second. The salad was alright. I expected more kale since that was in the name of the dish. Rather, it was mostly regular lettuce with small pieces of crispy fried kale. Still, pretty good. And considering this was a special deal-meal week, they did NOT skimp on the size of the dish! This was a whole salad that could easily be acceptable for a whole meal! The tacos were the real stand-out for me though. They came 3 to an order and they were crispy and delicious. I thought I would only eat two, after the big salad I had already had....but I could not stop myself from scarfing down the third one too! I can't speak to a dinner menu or drinks, as I've only been here for lunch. But I think it might be an underrated place for lunch if you work or happen to be downtown. Check them out! read more
