Super cool concept. The only downside is that there isn't anywhere to sit. If the weather is nice you can sit outside on the curb.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw there was a nitro ice cream in the area we were visiting this weekend. I pretty much go to the Iowa State Fair for the nitro ice cream. The creamy vanilla flavor isn't the same as the State Fair stand. What do I love about nitro made ice cream? The smooth creamyness that other processes cannot replicate. Plus, it's fun to watch it being made. I am not sure if this is a locally owned establishment or a chain. If it's local, it would have been nice to see them use Lagomarcino's hot fudge. We were also disappointed with the strawberry flavoring. It tasted artificial. I hope to see better quality flavors in the future. Still happy to see this option around. The only other place I have come across one (besides our state fair) is in Southern California and that place was phenomenal. read more

Cool spot that we happened upon randomly while looking for some ice cream following a children's museum run. It's near a new sports complex and the group of stores here may be the best bunch we've come across. This place, hurts donuts, a mac 'n cheese place and a coffee spot all in a row. It can keep you busy all day from carbs to caffeine and everything in between! They have tons of different options from ice cream to coconut milk and about 30 different mix in options. You pay by the size and number of mix ins. The combinations that our kids come up with are always interesting. They ranged from chocolate with sprinkles, to mint with gummy bears. As gross as the mint sounds, it actually wasn't that bad. I figured it would've been like gummy bears after brushing my teeth, but it all just kind of work together because it was mostly sugar. We had coconut milk based chocolate with brownie pieces. The flavor was really nice, but the coconut milk ends up making for a little bit more liquidy consistency. It was good, but probably not something I will do again. It would probably go really well with vanilla and some berries. There you go, that's your next one! The folks working here we're very nice and there was a lot of space to spread out. It's a very modern building, and there is plexiglass upfront where they're mixing everything, so you can watch them actually makes the nitrogen into the concoctions. End of the day, this place is like a fancy new cold stone, and it's hard to get a lot better than that! read more

Such a fun experience and some really delicious ice cream! AND there's even daIry free options! First you pick either an ice cream, yogurt, or coconut milk base. Add a base flavor and then mix in whatever candy, cookies, or anything else! From there the staff whip up the mixture and add nitrogen so everything gets creamy and delicious! I usually get coconut milk with coffee flavor and Oreos mixed in. Yum! It's fun to watch it all come together, but beware it will take a few minutes. If there's a line you could be waiting for a while. But I'd say it's worth it! read more

Not so great experience at this ice cream parlor. This is also not my first nitrogen frozen ice cream and I understand that flavor is slightly different. That being said, my visit had concerns and I am unsure if I will go back. Good: Ambiance: The place was spacious with nice decorations. Menu was big and easy to read. Pay: N7 accepts Apple Pay along with other methods Bad: COVID-19 safety: Although there were social distancing markers, neither the manager / sole employee nor other customers were wearing masks. Ice cream: It was fair, but I have had other nitrogen frozen ice cream that tasted better. I've always loved ice cream (who doesn't, right)? I discovered the smoothness of frozen custard, when I lived in St. Louis, and thought I'd found the best frozen dessert. It was WAY smoother than regular ice cream. Well, move over Ted Drewe's, there's a new "best frozen dessert". My grandson and I have a tradition of getting ice cream when I pick him up on the last day of school. I think this makes the ice cream taste just a little bit better than usual. At N7, you pick your "liquid", ranging from cow's cream to coconut milk or yogurt. Then you choose a flavoring, like my favorite, birthday cake. They also have regular flavors like vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. Then you choose from dozens (30, actually) of "mix-ins", like chocolate chips, sprinkles, fruity pebble's, etc. Then they move your concoction over to a hefty mixer and bubble liquid nitrogen into it while the mixer works. The phase change from gas to solid happens so quickly that ice crystals don't have a chance to form. This makes the mixture smoother than regular ice cream. Those mixers have to be very powerful to be able to mix everything together. There is also a bunch of nitrogen "steam" released and, since nitrogen is heavier than oxygen, the steam cloud hugs the countertop. If you understand about science things like phase change, etc, it could be a learning experience for kids while they wait for their treat to be done. The only things I didn't like about the place is that there was only one employee working when we got there, and it's more expensive than other ice cream places. The reason there was only one employee working is probably because we went around lunchtime, not usually their peak time. The poor woman had to take orders and money, then go make the ice cream treat. There were only a couple of people in front of us when we got there, so it wasn't too long of a wait. But after we got ours, there was a crowd of people, probably 20 or so, waiting in line. Finally, another employee came in to help. We scarfed-down our ice cream so we could give up our table. If you love ice cream, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you try N7. read more

I don't care if it's 85° or -5°. There's never a bad time for this ice cream! We love it. The way they make it is unique and super creamy. The staff is always very friendly. I have been to N7 twice, last year in July and again this year in July. We live in Minneapolis and have been in Bettendorf for the softball tournament each time. I absolutely love N7! The ice cream made with coconut milk is amazing as are all of their toppings. I really wish they had a store close to me. read more

This place is fun to try (watching them make your ice cream is the whole experience) and the ice cream is good. However it won't be a regular stop for us due to two things: price and how long it takes. It's pricey and if there are more than 3-4 people in front of you, expect it to take awhile.
