One of the appetizers was a morel mushroom soup which was downright exquisite. They also had a 30 oz lightly smoked lobster tail. We had the carrot cake and a chocolate chip cookie with toppings. The cookie was about 6 inches in diameter! Duck City Bistro is an all around fun time with great food and epic presentations. We sat inside at the high tables near the bar. I peaked at the back patio and lawn space which was amazing. I'll be back for that alone. The food we got was on point across the board. No one had anything left to take home which was because we got there starving and it was very good! My Mediterranean salad with chicken was solid, my son's Cesar salad was really good and my wife's southwestern salad with fried chicken was killer as well. My mother's avocado toast was on another level for such a dish. I was pleased to see a few solid branded house red and white wines at reasonable prices on the drink menu also. Endless beer options of course which the rest of the table took part in. A few fruited sour beer picks really pleased the table I recall. The only catch we did have was the wait from the time our drinks came until our orders got taken and then got served. A solid hour! Hard wait when you arrive hungry as is. Service was kind yet I admit that. Just slow on the food hitting the table. We will be back here again for sure and at just .6 miles walk from home, we could become regulars here easily.

I was extremely disappointed with our recent dinner at Maxwell's on the River. The menu was very…read morelimited, and I almost walked out after seeing it. However, I had promised my husband a nice steak dinner, so we decided to stay. The steak choices were an 8-ounce filet mignon or a 10-ounce sirloin cap served sliced sushi-style. We ordered the $52 sirloin cap, and it was incredibly chewy. Thankfully, it was already sliced, or we might not have been able to cut through it. I told our waitress how tough it was. She apologized, but did nothing to correct the situation--there was no offer to replace the steak or make things right. I ordered the yellowfin tuna appetizer because I used to love Maxwell's previous tuna dish so much that I would order it as my entrée. Unfortunately, this version was disappointing. The tuna was okay but had very little flavor, and the cashew chimichurri sauce was mediocre at best. The Brussels sprouts were overcooked, and the sauce seemed like it was trying too hard without adding much to the dish. Dessert was crème brûlée, but it tasted like plain vanilla custard with very little flavor, topped with overly caramelized sugar and berries. I truly wish I had trusted my instincts and walked out. For what we paid, the meal was nowhere near the quality we expected. Honestly, the two-for-$25 meal at Applebee's would have cost a quarter of the price and probably would have been far more enjoyable. We will not be returning.

Newly opened in September 2025, this restaurant has quickly become a hotspot. They take…read morereservations and that is highly recommended as we were there on a Thursday evening and we were able to quickly get a group of seven seated at 5 PM, but it was obvious that that could not be as easy later in the evening or over the weekend, peak hours. Plenty of outdoor parking with handicapped accessible spots makes easy access. Full bar/waiting area available if you do have to wait for a table. A Number of large tables available to accommodate larger groups is very telling about the type of business done by this operation. We were lucky enough to get there ahead of our group and get our table situated and ready in advance of their arrival as it became pretty obvious that they are shorthanded for the volume of business that they are currently doing. We found ourselves using the busboy for items such as additional napkins, water, etc. The manager did stop by to check on us and quickly helped to fill in some of the gaps For needed items by our group. The food more than made up for a bit of overwhelmed service staff. It's not that our wait staff was slow by any means, they were just slammed and moving as quickly as possible to accommodate everybody. Full bar available with absolutely fabulous margaritas. Amazing dishes that were high-quality, fresh ingredients, made to order and also delicious that every plate was wiped clean! We had a massive amount of food that included chips, guac, salsa, queso, empanadas, full entrées per person and a couple of folks with margaritas and our bill came out to less than $25 per person before tip!! I honestly think for the quality of food they might be slightly underpriced and per discussion with the manager he recognized that they need more help based on how busy and popular they've become in such a short time. Service hiccups aside, this restaurant should be able to maintain five stars without any issues with just a little bit more manpower. I'm giving the restaurant five stars because everything was so great and they are just working through some growing pains. I would definitely recommend coming here but plan accordingly, Should you hit during peak hours. This restaurant has a full breakfast as well as dinner menu so it would be fun to come back and try some of their earlier in the day options.

The location was very easy to find. Plus the parking lot was pretty big. I would assume finding a parking spot should be no issue Inside the building is very big and they had very loud music that was playing mainly 2000s hits or earlier. For my dinner, I got the Blackened Bleu Burger with a side of Fire Fries ("spicy" seasoned fries) with a side of ranch. They went perfectly with a side of ranch which was recommended by my waitress. Our server was amazing. Passionate and friendly. And she was on top of everything. She refilled the drinks before being asked and she was very attentive. It is sad that I live closer to Chicago.
