Got there at about noon so they were sold out of a lot of stuff. I tried a raspberry breakfast bar, lemon bar, and flourless cake. All moist and fresh. Very cute little bakery. Would love to try the berry tart and quiche next time. read more

I stopped here with my nieces and nephew for some treats. We got a apple cider donut and apple turnover to share. The place is fairly small and luckily there wasn't a line. The woman behind the counter was very nice and polite and apologized for "not too many options" (there were plenty!). I hate to say this and am hoping it was just an off day. The apple cider donut was very dry (I probably should have microwaved some apple cider and dunked it in that!). The apple turnover was ok, the dough was nice and flaky but the filling was just ok. I'd probably give it another try next time I'm back in the area because, like I said, I'm hoping it was just a fluke. read more

Small Town Pastry provided a custom military retirement cake for me. The cake was very tasty but the experience was a little less than stellar. I called the day prior to confirm the cake price and methods of payment selected and it appeared the cake design was still be solidified although the cake was to be picked up the next morning. One of the focal items the field artillery cross cannons which I advised were the important item was barely noticeable in the design. Additionally the hand writing of the cake was kinda tight and a little less than stellar in terms of legibility. Overall the cake itself was delicious and I would order again. I would advise to have the design fully sketched out as this may have Aidee the process. read more

I came across this bakery when I really needed some baked goods for a celebration. They have a lot of options that would appeal to everyone. They also served coffee, lattes, non-coffee drinks as well.I tried the blueberry coffee cake, personally, it wasn't for me. The taste of the filling was not smooth? By that I mean it was a bit granulated because of the sugar I am thinking. I just didn't add a nice taste for me. However, the chocolate mousse torte was so delicious, smooth, flavorful. My wife and I had a superb lunch cooked and lovingly served by "the boss". The moussaka was rich and savory and we ate two meals from one serving (along with a strawberry, walnut and feta salad). I'm glad we saved room for dessert because they had a real-deal tiramisu, no shortcuts, just high quality and taste. A beautiful day under a patio umbrella with coffee and smartly made food. Heaven! It's conveniently located up the road from my home and offers a variety of treats ranging from breakfast burritos to cake pops. We were so pleased with the beautiful cake Janice made for our daughter's first birthday. It was an 8" lemon cake with strawberry filling. American buttercream Icing was just the right amount. The food is always excellent although some salt and pepper packets would be nice for the quiche. We were quoted $5 a piece for the quiche and charged $6.5 a piece. Also we had small coffees and I believe we were charged for mediums. Very disappointed. Like supporting local places but not sure I'll be returning. read more

Smells of sugary sweet dessert aromas fill the shop. Numerous pastry desserts to choose. The lemon bar was my first choice and I will be back for another in the near future. If I could give zero stars I would. Ordered a cake a month ago. Sent photo of cake I wanted (bottom photo) and specifically asked if they could duplicate it. Called the day before to confirm pick-up time. Show up to pick up cake- it's not ready. 15 minutes later, still not ready. 15 minutes later, still not ready. When it finally comes out, it looks nothing like what I ordered. It's leaning over. The rosettes are globbed on and sliding down the side of the cake. My daughter's name isn't on the base as requested. Clearly, I'm unhappy and express my displeasure. The owner's response? If I don't like it, I can go to Hy-Vee across the street. I wish I HAD gone to Hy-Vee instead of here- they actually put efforts into their cake decorating and have some semblance of customer service. On top of which, I was late to my own kid's party thanks to this shop's incompetence. I read a few other reviews and the same excuses were used for their late cakes with poor craftsmanship as well - people calling out of work. Either it's not true or she's the worse boss ever, which is possible given how she treats customers. If you're looking for a beautiful cake on time- go anywhere but here. read more
