N Compass Cinema filmed my wedding Jan of 2013. THE STRONG POINTS: We really enjoyed their highlight review of the wedding - I think this is their FORTE - the turnaround time for this highlight reel was 24-48 hours. We watched on our honeymoon in Hawaii. I've gotten so many compliments and raves about the highlights video and it definitely helped me remember all the details. We weren't originally going to hire a videographer but we decided to 2-3 months before the wedding - SO GLAD we did. Check out the highlight reels on vimeo.com! You'll love them! I like that they had 2 people filming and the price point is very reasonable. THE DOWNERS: Music was a very thought out process in my wedding ceremony. I picked music that wasn't traditional and I really wanted it to come out in my wedding video. Sadly, while watching the video I heard the generic background music CLASHING with the HARP music that was playing during the ceremony. For about 5 minutes, the music clashing against each other was very distracting and made me very, very sad. Even the String Quartet music that was playing while I was walking down the aisle was cut out. After paying $1,000 for the string quartet, I don't get to hear them on the video. {Insert SUPER SAD face here + tears} I don't hold this against them. I partly think that I should have specifically said to keep all the original ceremony music in the long video reel. But, also, I think that as videographers, I would think that if they heard the crashing on the video reel while editing, they would have thought about cutting their music out and letting the HARP play. Considering that they have great reviews here on yelp, it just makes me think they didn't really sit down and take the best care with editing process on our video. Maybe they should consider to include every client through the editing process. My advice to you: HIRE THEM! Generally, you won't be disappointed. But make sure you're specific on what you want kept on the long video reel and what you don't mind being cut out. Lastly, Just an FYI - the wait time to get your actual DVD/BLU-RAY wedding reel video will be 1 year after the wedding. This is specified on the contract. I got married in Jan. My husband and I have followed N Compass Cinema's work for several years, we've seen their work from the very beginning and have followed them as they improved, expanded, and continue to grow. With an additional recommendation from our photographer (Megan Tsang) to consider them for our wedding, there was no doubt that we decided with Rene and team to capture our special day earlier this month and we also hired them for a slow motion booth at the De young museum. It was the BEST decision we could have asked for! From our first in person meeting with Rene, my husband and I connected with him immediately and we knew he would be the perfect fit for us. Rene was always responsive, patient, calm, and provided suggestions. Our venue had restrictions/policies we had to adhere to and since Rene knew we really wanted a Slow Motion booth, he most importantly listened to us and worked in finding alternatives for props. This review is long overdue as Renee filmed our wedding last year in May. Here are 5 reasons why you should definitely select Renee as your videographer. 1) Great personality. It does feel awkward getting filmed and just being "yourself." However Renee and his wife have great fun personalities that lightened the mood. You're already nervous on your wedding day so it helps to have someone that you can joke around with and feel relaxed with. 2) Turnaround time. AHHHHHH!!! these guys totally went above and beyond for us on our wedding day! we've know rene and nicole for a few years now, and when we found out that they were building up a videography company, we knew we wanted to seriously hire them. during our "consult" with them, rene mentioned that if we could find someone else to hire it would be no hard feelings, but after obsessively watching video after video of theirs, we knew that their style was fun, fresh, and to the point. we knew there was no one else we wanted to capture our wedding day memories. a few weeks before the big day, rene informed us that there would be three videographers there, rene, nicole, and richard. the more the merrier we thought! as the wedding day progressed, nicole and richard were there the whole time, capturing all our important memories, but my husband and i noticed that rene was missing... we weren't concerned about our memories, but just a little worried about him. but since nicole is his wife, we knew he couldn't have been too far away. halfway through our reception we were surprised to a SDE (same day edit) from N Compass. rene had been missing because he was busy editing the movie for us! we didn't expect or ask for this surprise, but it was so touching to see our perfect ceremony replayed for us to soak in. it was such a lovely touch that even my (macho) husband got all teary eyed, which is totally not who he is at all. we have watched our SDE many times now, and every time we see it, we see a small detail we didn't notice before, which makes the day so much more special and the video that much more precious. i know that times are tough, and many people are forgoing hiring videographers for their wedding days, but trust me, you will value your wedding video just as much as your wedding photos! and N Compass Cinema is definitely a company you want to hire! if you need convincing, check out their vimeo site and watch their videos... they keep getting better and better!! we've had a few of our engaged family and friends hire them a few weeks after our wedding. i can't wait to see what N Compass will have in store for their weddings! ps: book them asap... i've noticed they've had a lot of clients sign them recently! read more

Holy moly, these guys are good!!!! Actually they are EXCELLENT!! N Compass Cinema captured our Wedding on August 3rd and created the most special highlight video for our day, I think I have watched it about 50 times (and at a reasonable price). We did a lot of research looking for an awesome videographer, and checked out a few others before finding these guys, not one company or person came close to the quality of video they offer. We ended up getting a 9hr package with two videographers. I don't know how they did it but I barely noticed them the entire 9hrs, pretty amazing. We got our video about 5 days after the wedding, while we were on our honeymoon, I couldn't believe the turn around time. They posted it to my husbands facebook account, so family and friends could relish the video as well, how nice! The video they composed fades in and out of my husbands speech and video footage throughout they day, I can't really do justice describing it, but it is truly amazing. The creative touches really add a WOW factor, I love everything they did to make the video. They also worked so well with my photographer (Andria Lo). If you need a videographer look no further, they are the best out there! I am so grateful to have found them and would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone. Over one year later but I had to give my review for Rene and Nicole. I didn't want to hire a videographer because they were costly and my older family members said they never watched theirs. So it seemed like a waste. Nicole was doing my makeup (she does the BEST makeup at competitive pricing) and mentioned that her husband does videography. So I politely said I would check it out. love love love, N Compass Cinema! we hired Rene very last minute for our wedding and, we honestly had no idea what to expect. we couldn't even tell he was videotaping half the time, neither during the ceremony nor the reception. we were surprised by his 3 minute same day edit, already posted online when we got home after the reception! he totally captured the look and feel of our wedding: modern, simple, clean, elegant, fun...I can go on. Rene totally understood us. he chose music, angles, and shots that definitely represented our style -- clearly he has an eye for this work and takes into account his client's style. of course, he captured our very special moments, and even ones that I didn't even know he was videotaping! these moments made me laugh and cry the most. he sent us our full video/DVD as promised, two weeks after the event. My wife and I actually weren't planning on hiring a videographer on our wedding day, but thought we should just in case we regretted it. We didn't expect much out of it. Rene was hassle free, easy to work with, and stay mostly behind the scenes, not distracting us from greeting guests or enjoying most of our reception and ceremony. I almost didn't think he was recording half the time. Within a day, he notified us that our wedding trailer was done. Again, we didn't think much until we saw it. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY!! Rene has a steady hand, an artistic knack, and made the coolest 3 min trailer, capturing all the magical shots that made our wedding come alive. I was very impressed. I actually looked on youtube at other videographer's work and there is a substantial difference. NCompass shot our wedding a couple weekends back (Saturday 8/4) to be exact. It was Rene and Richard who did the shooting. I've known Rene for a long-time since I used to get babysat at his house when we were younger, so when I got wind that he was a videographer, of course it made sense to look him up. Firstly, I had to run some of his work by the now wife (then fiancee) to see if she approved of him as a potential videographer. That check mark was cleared. Next was the 'how much do you cost?' question. In all honesty, we weren't putting a ton of budget into video. So one of the first things we asked for when we reached out to him was cost, and he sent us a price sheet. Being an 'up-and-comer' or sorts, his prices are/were very reasonable for the quality of work we saw. And before I move on with the review, I just want to say to folks who are looking into a videographer, get this guy locked down. His prices are reasonable now, but I have no doubt he will be even more successful and his price tag will go up. Back to the review after a shameless plug for this guy. So after we reviewed the price sheet, determined the cost was reasonable, we met with him, Nicole, and then only child Naia over lunch. Despite being friends back in the day and knowing there'd be a lot of socializing, Rene and Nicole also treated that meeting as a business one. We asked a lot of questions, and they answered all of them suitably. We we're then invited to watch the longer length finished pieces (25-35 minutes if I remember right) to allow us to further see his work beyond the SDEs and highlight reels he posts up. Instead of even pretending we were still looking around, we told him then and there we wanted him to shoot our wedding. The logistical and contract process was a breeze. And the only contact was had between then and the wedding addressed logistical information like arrival time and etc. This is getting long so I'll get into how the day-of went. Basically, it went flawlessly. Rene had the attention to detail to make sure he knew where he could and could not be within the Church. They both worked awesomely to be in the background and not in anyone's way. We got the highlight reel the morning after and we were FLOORED with how it turned out, and that is only the 3-minute piece he makes. Our family/friends loved it, and we all can't wait to see the finished product. His creativity is well-shown thru not just our video, but all his work. N Compass Cinema was AMAZING while filming our wedding! They were very professional in their attire and their actions. They released a highlight reel about a week after the wedding, and people that didn't even go to our wedding said that it made them cry! Not only did they capture the "main events" beautifully, but they also got amazing detail shots of our decorations, flowers, dresses, and outstanding drone shots from above our venue! While they captured all aspects of our wedding, they were also very respectful of our space and did not get in the way of anything. They filmed quietly in the background and did not distract from any part of our wedding. N Compass Cinema is well worth the money.
