To top things off, they had the best prices out of the 4-5 photographers we contacted. I highly recommend using them at any picture taking event. They have a very artistic and unique style. Thanks for your help! A little about my credentials: Some might say, I'm a bit of a camera whore, however over the recent years, I've been taking less and less pictures because I'm getting fat. You know your wedding photographer is good when you can't stop looking at your wedding photos and reliving the night!!! I found Jason and Debbie (the real-life married husband-wife team that make up Il Mare) through a friend. Impressed with their classy, artsy style, I knew I immediately had to book them because they fit my vision, and they were affordable (and they were available on my wedding date)! My fiancee and I met up with Jason and Debbie for a "first date" when we were deciding whether to hire them. They brought us several album proofs but to tell you the truth I was already sold through their wedding blog. Once we met them in person, we felt a connection and the "click", so we instantly hired them! Il Mare offers good variety in different wedding packages, and is totally customizable. We decided to go with one of the basic packages, which included an engagement shoot, 10 hours of coverage on the wedding day, a wedding album, and digital CD of the high-resolution images. We met up for the engagement shoot about 4 months before our actual wedding. Jason met up with us in a location of our choice, San Juan Capistrano. Although Il Mare typically charges extra if it is within a certain distance of their headquarters in Redondo Beach, Jason kindly waived the fee (maybe because we tempted him with Sprinkles cupcakes which we used for our shoot??) but he worked well with the light and not having his assistant (Debbie) around. We even went beyond the 2 hours of coverage included for the engagement shoot because we were by the Amtrak train and Jason really wanted to capture the shot (which he did beautifully, by the way). Not only did we get a variety of shots during the engagement shoot, but our jaws dropped when we saw the actual images!!! For a second I could not recognize my fiancee and I, for the shoot looked straight out of a magazine shoot. Jason truly has a sophisticated eye and can really capture good images. Debbie, his talented wife, works on most of the post-production, which is just as important. Not only did we have great engagement shots, but on the day of the actual wedding, Jason and Debbie both showed up on time and were super professional. Weeks after our wedding, we received two DVDs in the mail with a thousand plus high-resolution images, so many of which it was difficult to select my favorites from. Originally, we were thinking of creating a "must have" shots list, but in the end, we were so confident Jason and Debbie would capture our shots, that we were happy that they actually did! Every time I look at my wedding photos I can relive the night, and am so grateful that Jason and Debbie helped capture it! read more

Jason and Debbie are amazing photographers. We had them to shoot our wedding back in March 2012. Before the wedding, Debbie would spend time to communicate about the wedding day rundown and what was our expectation. She even go beyond and gave me many tips on how to choose accessories to make the photo look even more beautiful. It's nice to have photographers can give me so much information to help out the planning. We enjoy having them on our wedding. They're fun to be around. The photos are fantastic! I told them I like the picture to have good balance between natural and artistic. Guess what.. The pictures came out exactly what I want. omg. I just love their work! YES! Check out their website and let their pictures speak for their quality of work. BUT, what the pictures don't show you is the very sweet banter between this husband-wife combo. Debbie scopes out the areas and finds the most interesting angles; Jason disagrees; Debbie insists; Jason gives in; Jason admits he was wrong; Debbie smiles. It is so much fun watching them and seeing their dynamic together that they actually remind you of your own relationship and why you fell in love with your partner. That is why they are able to capture the true emotions between a couple. My husband and I hate taking pictures. We're not exactly the most photogenic...we weren't even going to hire photographers for our wedding. But, when we had our engagement pictures taken by IL MARE, we were STUNNED! They captured us so well and we actually felt beautiful! They make you feel so comfortable that you don't even realize there's a camera pointed at you, so you are left with natural, fresh prints that totally captured the moment. It's no surprise that several of our friends have hired them too for their weddings. I love looking at our engagement pictures, wedding pictures, and there's no doubt that we'll be calling them for our baby's pictures, and other events in our life. Jason and Debbie are super friendly and amazing photographers! We had them for our wedding and we were very happy with them. Pictures were great and so was their professionalism. They are great at keeping contact with you and their service is very friendly. :) On the wedding day, I realized that pictures could have been directed better as far as making sure that my wedding party had their eyes open and such. However it could have been due to lack of time, that some of the important pictures were overlooked. It's not their fault!! I could have paid a bit more attention to what I wanted on the day of the wedding. If I were to do my wedding over again I would let Jason and Debbie know exactly what shots I MUST MUST have! Therefore, even in all the rush, they will be able to capture some of the most important photos. Overall, I am very pleased with IL MARE and all my friends always ask me where I took my photos!!! :) If you are planning to book them, I highly recommend them to you! read more

When comes to photography, either you get it or not, and Il Mare Photography simply gets it. Two years ago we have asked Jason and Debbie to do a family photo session along with my wife, parents and family pet Charco. I must say they are truly a pleasure to work with. From "chat over coffee" to "consultation" to "photo session" then to the "post production", their attention to detail and professionalism are second to none. Chat over coffee - Absolutely no sales pressure is the key of their success of grabbing your heart. Unlike a sales meeting, they simply have the attitude of "getting to know you". Because of such friendly conversation, we felt we should dive into consultation and talk over type of shoot we want. After seeing their work on digital format and on the actual albums, we were really impressed on the quality of work and their ability to capture the essence of the moment. They were very accommodating with our needs and suggested different locations where we can should the shoot. We decided on the beach and at the pier since both my wife and I love the ocean backdrop. It's amazing how well the husband and wife team work together, while Jason is shooting and Debbie helps with lighting. The turn around time to see the proof was also very impressive. Pictures are worth a thousand words and coming from someone who LOVES to take pictures, I can't express enough how much I LOVE Il Mare Photography. I have been following Il Mare work for awhile since few of our friends have worked with Il Mare photography. So when it was time for us to get married, we were happy to hear that Jason and Debbie from Il Mare photography were available. We got married on the beaches of Malibu and Jason and Debbie were with us on our special day. They are super professional, great to work with and definitely know what they're doing. I absolutely love their artistic point of view. We had a lil 'Vogue' photo shoot with our wedding party. It was such a great day and we're so thrilled that Jason and Debbie were able to capture it all. Of course the pictures turned out beautifully. We are so pleased with the photos, that when we found out we were expecting, I had no doubt that I wanted Il Mare to do our maternity photos as well. And again, exceeded our expectations. This comment is LONG overdue! The only reason I am giving them 1 star is because of my wedding album. And the reason they got great those pictures were by luck --- or because the wedding party was directing them on what poses to do! They made me cry! THEY ARE WAY OVER PRICED for their services. The amount of money we paid...I was expecting a team of professional photographers, but instead Jason and his wife Debbie were basically your friend that you would give a camera to at a family gathering to snap pictures away. We paid over $4,500...when we finally got our pictures...we got pictures of my mom's face up close with her mouth open. We got a picture of my husband and I with a guy to the side in a speedo [which they could have cropped him, I had to ask for that], when the groomsmen were getting ready---you would think he would ask them to move the plastic bag out to take a picture, but NO! Same with the bridesmaids pictures...I could go ON and ON!!! We had an AMAZING wedding venue they could have taken pictures inside...they made my wedding party hike up along the side on a dirt hill to get a picture of them with the ocean background that was completely blocked by the wedding party! UGLY picture! All the girls shoes were messed up and dirty --- I felt horrible having my friends hike forever in the heat ... sweating to mess up their beautiful pricey shoes. I don't recommend them. The pictures they have on their website are by luck. They are overpriced! They are unprofessional. They took forever to answer after the wedding - after we paid in full. Our pictures were late. They mailed a crappy CD of my pictures --- you would think that for over $4,500 they could spend a couple of bucks on putting a label on the cd and using a CD cover ---- NO --- they sent me my cd in a paper cover and then they hand wrote our names on it --- and to top it off the CD was cracked when we got it! I complained to them and sent them numerous emails on how I cried for everything they did --- they didn't even get a picture of my husband and I in the alter with our first kiss!!! They said they couldn't, but my videographer captured the moment! From all my complaints they gave me some extra pages on my wedding album, what they should have done is given me some money back!!!! Find someone else...my only regret from my beautiful wedding was hiring them! read more

I have known Photographer Jason and Debbie for a long time, and have been following their work years prior to my engagement. I was always wow'ed by the work product of Il Mare Photography. Therefore, as soon as I got engaged, I contacted them immediately, and they were the first vendor we booked. They were extremely patient with us, and worked with us on the style we prefer on our engagement photos and day-of wedding photos. As much as I prefer the modern look, I also wanted to see a touch of vintage in our photos, which was quite tricky. However, Il Mare delivered exactly what I had envisioned in my mind and more! I've received countless compliments on our engagement photos, as well as our day-of wedding photos. We had such a great time working with them. Not only are they knowledgeable, they were also flexible in incorporating our vision into their masterpiece.
