Van was the very first vendor my husband and I hired for our wedding, and we couldn't have started out our vendor-hiring process (and let's be real, legit wedding planning craziness!) any better and with more confidence. In total, we met 4x in person (initial meet, harddrive dropoff (optional), wedding, last meet to pickup videos & HD). This is probably the most efficient it could've been, and it was so convenient that Van was extremely responsive via email/phone throughout. I am thrilled that we found Van to be our wedding videographer! I had researched online a lot and watched videos from various videographers and realized that there was a particular style I liked, no idea what it's called but I can only describe it as watching a professionally made movie vs. watching a home video. The problem was that I had the budget for the home video style but knew I would not be satisfied with that. Anyway, after a couple weeks of stalking videographer sites I stumbled onto Ocean Blue Videography. The video samples they had on their site were wonderful and exactly how I wanted our video to turn out. I could also tell that Van had a great eye for picking up the really important moments in a wedding and setting these perfectly to music. I mean, when you're crying while watching a wedding video of random strangers you know that you've found someone very talented. We met with Van and while her standard package prices were above our budget she was able to customize a package for us which fit all of our needs, I was soooo happy! On the wedding day she was very professional as was her second cameraman. They did not get in the way at all and most of the time we did not even know that they were there. We received our videos last weekend and were so excited but nervous about what to expect. I was really hoping the video would be as good as some of the samples I saw. When both I and my husband started crying about 5 seconds into the video I knew that we'd made the right decision by working with Ocean Blue and Van. The video was fantastic and to me it was even better than the previous samples I had seen, I might be biased though. I'm so happy that we'll have this video to show to our kids and grandkids! My husband and I were very particular to what our wedding highlight video would capture and the videography technique that would be incorporated in the video. We spent a lot of time with Van discussing what elements we wanted and making sure we made enough time on our wedding day schedule to capture all the moments. I think it was about 3 weeks before the wedding when my husband and I decided we really want a drone. Van went above and beyond to help us and contracted a drone operator/videographer Matthieu (from Cinematt) who would take care of all the birds-eye view shots. Matthieu, by the way, is also a superb and creative videographer. On the day of our wedding, Van and her crew worked very hard to get a lot of footage. We appreciate her strive for perfection and seeing her carry such heavy equipment and sometimes taking several tries for a shot before she is satisfied with it. Van produced an absolutely fabulous video of our wedding - I could not possibly be happier with how it turned out! Van is quiet and reserved, but don't let that fool you, she is a very talented and artistic videographer. She is skilled technically, uses expensive quality equipment, and is thorough and thoughtful. Selecting Van to film our wedding was one of the best decisions we made surrounding that day. The value for what was produced was extraordinary. Initially we were not going to purchase a wedding video, because we saw that as an optional item in an already exorbitant list of expenses. My initial thoughts could not have been further from the truth. As soon as our wedding ended we wanted to re-live it, and experience that parts we missed. After our initial meeting with Van she gave us a questionnaire to fill out to learn more about us. From there Van met with me again to go over all of the details. Van was my first choice wedding videographer and I am glad that my husband and I chose Van over the other videographers we inquired. Van is so sweet! She is patient and wonderful to work with. She and her team work in stealth mode and capture every aspect of the event. Prior to our wedding, we had a meeting with Van to decide on a package that best fit our budget. We opted to have two videographers (Van and her assistant), full raw footage of the entire wedding, and a wedding highlight. On the day of the wedding, Van and her assistant arrived on time and ready to roll! She captured everything from me and my girls getting ready to the tea ceremony to the twin sandwich on the dance floor. I paid extra attention to details when planning our wedding. Naturally, it was important for us to have a videographer who shared the same interest. Van was careful to details and took time to perfect the footage. Since our wedding was in the middle of the busy wedding season, it took about 8 weeks to finish the video. As you could imagine, we were pretty excited to see our video. Van is a very genuine lady; my husband and I are so happy to have found her online! Van did a fantastic job shooting and making a wonderful movie of our wedding!! We loved it so much and watched it again and again. It has been more than 6 months, but her video made us feel like it was just yesterday. It brings back all the memories of that special day. Her film is very carefully edited so it makes us really feel like watching a movie with a beautiful story well written. She managed to use all the songs that we loved and had meanings to us, and magically made them all work together, and mixed smoothly with the video. Both my husband and I are Chinese, and my parents only speak Chinese. Van also speaks Chinese so she can mix all the speeches and talk in Chinese into the video beautifully. This means a lot to us and our family! This is truly a movie about us, about love and all the sweet memories... I can see myself watch it again and again, and maybe one day playing to our future kids, and let them know how mom and dad designed the wedding together and made it happen with all friends and family. Before we decided to use her as our wedding videographer, we have searched high and low for a good one also within our limited budget. I still remember all those interviews of potential videographers, and all the videos we watched. We finally decided on her, simply because of her style of story telling, feels very nature and touching. I'm a visual designer so I'm very picky and detail oriented when dealing with anything related to visual. The result of her hard work is not disappointing. I'm very impressed and satisfied! Van and her team are very professional. They arrived on time, there are actually three cameras rolling at the same time, so she can capture different angles to make the video more interesting, that also adds much more work to her, more footage to go through, more film to edit. I also really like she uses Canon Mark II, when she was shooting my guests, they all thought she was only taking photos, so they are more relaxed. She also interviewed our family and friends. We started planning our wedding in advance. By 11 months until our wedding, we had all our vendors selected and the venue locked up. We didn't book a videographer or a wedding planner as we were really trying to keep things within our budget. As the wedding day approached, we started to debate whether or not we wanted video at our wedding. After talking to our newly hired wedding planner (yes, we panicked!! But she was a lifesaver) she recommended Van at Ocean Blue to us. We looked at her work and we were very impressed. Upon contacting her, she was very responsive to our email. She got back to us and happily our date was available. We weighed a few options and were happy to see she was really flexible with different plans and features. I can't thank Van enough for such a beautiful final product. She provided excellent customer service on the day of the wedding and all the days leading up to it. I just got my DVD from her last week and everything we talked about during the meetings months before were included in the DVD (even things I forgot about!) I loved how she let my husband and I pick out the songs for our DVD. It made the final product more personable and special. Van captured all the main events throughout the day (mother zipping dress, getting ready, cake cutting, toast, all the dances....etc) I had a large bridal party and a fairly large wedding and I did not even notice Van or her partner filming. She really captured the day and documented it in a way that tells a story. I can't tell you how happy I am that I hired Van. I got to see parts and people at the wedding that I missed out on. In fact we already got our wedding video from them, it was supposed to take 6-8 weeks but it only took 2, speedy! I would like to personally commend Van on her attention to detail and her very detailed instructions on how she wanted to capture our wedding definitely made it a lot easier on us as well (we had enough on our minds!). Although we had seen many beautiful videos as samples on their website we were unprepared for how ours would look (we are an average couple and it was a small wedding). There is only one first time to every first time. A moment is only a moment, but with Ocean Blue Videography that moment in time will forever be that first time every time after. Quick History: Jen & I met one of Van's collogues during a wedding MC& Photography event in 2007. After viewing his video we recommended him to a close friend however he was not available and recommend Van. At first we paid her little attention as she was on the quiet side occasionally interacting with her only to help sync the events. The video came out great, with that when it came to our turn we approached her and ask her for her package and prices. I can remember that she was a quite a professional business women that day. She laid out the package clearly and we negotiated the details. I could remember telling her that I would think about it later. She came back with a proposition that made it hard for me to turn down. That was our first business interaction with Van. I made it clear to her that the pre wedding Love story was a very important part of our wedding as it will be played in a planetarium theater like setting in front of 200+ guests. I told her that I am very open to creativity and that I welcomed her to use my wedding to expand on any new ideas that she might have. I told her that on the Big Day I would have a good friend be her helper the whole day. Any big or little requested would be accommodated. Wow was the end product video great! I would not say that it was the wildest or most creative video I have seen. Given the factors of satisfying a certain conservative group and a few radical viewers she did an amazing great job! We all know that a great wedding really depends on many factors but I am so confident that whatever your level is Van's work will make that wedding at least 50% better. I have made about a million copies of our wedding DVD's and have passed them out. I have gotten back so much positive comments. A few negative from older family members whom wanted to focus longer on the ceremonies and traditions. But if Van did this I am sure 99% of the viewers would fall asleep half way. Her video style and transitions can be on the conservative side for me but her creativity and thoroughness shines through the details. She will get the job done and at time you will almost forget she is there. I hope this review can help you decide as we have learned that a wedding videographer does make an immense difference, it's just with Van that difference is like that first time every time. It was a pleasure to work with Van and her team. Van is super awesome, we spoke on the phone few times (We were coming from Toronto to have a wedding in San Francisco) and she emailed couple of times. I loved that there was no pressure, no hassle, Van just explained what she was offering and was able to create a custom package to suit our needs. Where do I start? My wife and I were really happy with the services Ocean Blue provided. From our first meeting to the end Van was very organized and super friendly which made us feel very comfortable picking her as our Wedding Day videographer. We started browsing around online for the best option to use and Van was right in our price range. I spent a lot of time shopping around and talked with 5 videographers before I finally picked Van from Ocean Blue. I picked her because the image quality of her films and her prices are competitive and unbeatable. She is also so nice and easy to work with--gently letting us know where she needs to be to get the best shots without being intrusive and so reliable--always available by email and phone. Van and her team of videographers truly are some of the most talented videographers in the industry. My brother-in-law is a cinematographer, and he helped us comb the internet for the best wedding videographers in the area. My wife and I were SO impressed with Van's phenomenal storytelling ability and artistic eye. She was super genuine and asked a lot of detailed questions to get to really know us as a couple. Even at that first meeting, we felt so comfortable with her that it felt like we were having a friend take our video. On the day of the wedding, Van and her team of videographers were very professional, unobtrusive and let the day play out, with slight direction here and there. We absolutely LOVED the wedding highlight video!!! The song we chose was really challenging to edit to, but Van was brilliant and managed to weave it into a beautiful video to tell our story and captured every key moment that happened that day. We've re-watched that video hundreds of times (and cried so many times watching it) and our guests and even those who couldn't attend couldn't stop commenting about how amazing it was!!! You can really tell how many meticulous hours of effort (so many hours of raw footage to edit!) and artistic experience went into the making of our video. The edited ceremony and speeches videos were also really phenomenal. We also appreciated having a copy of all the raw footage because it captured so many tender, funny, and beautiful moments throughout the day, and we didn't even notice the team was rolling. Ocean Blue Videography did an excellent job filming Stanford Kayumanggi's Pilipino Cultural Night this past April 2011. This is the second year our group has used Van's great services! She was very easy to work with, always quick to respond, and very friendly in the entire process! We had multiple angles of show recorded in high quality. I was invited to do a photo shoot last year with a crew of wedding professionals. I met a lot of good talented people including 2 photographers, a bridal couture designer, makeup artist, videographer, coordinator and florist (me). Van was very quiet at first, but once I started talking to her I realized she is very passionate about her work. When I saw the video for the first time, I was very impressed. She was able to capture every detail and every special moment of the photo shoot. I did not hired Van for this event nor do I know her personally, but her talent really mesmerized me. As a florist, I really admired the talent of other wedding professionals and Van's is truly exceptional. She turned a photo shoot into a lovely and memorable story.
