We were looking for years, and absolutely fell in love with the place they built. While I can't comment on the working relationship, I can can comment on their quality of outcome, which is stellar. Gas line? Hot water recirc? Heated flooring? Large overhangs? Pushing your space to the legal height limits? Balconies, induction stoves, floor to ceiling Anderson doors and spacious windows or open concept living areas? Glass garage doors? Garappa platform decking? Energy recovery ventilator? Electric car charging? Mini split AC? Everything is beautiful, everything works, and we're super happy with the end result. Is it perfect? No. Is anything ever perfect? Also no. Has every inspector or tradesman we've hired made an unsolicited comment on the build quality? Yes. Has that happened to our friends or family? No, definitely not with this unprompted consistency. While we have some settlement problems with the flooring, issues with some appliances, some scraping on the balcony doors, and the drainage pump should have used waterproof wing nuts (also the float valves easily get caught), overall it's a supremely complex 5 story build with stellar results. We're only a year in, so we'll see how it goes, but so far so great.

They enlisted the help of an engineer to assess the problems and formulate a design to fix the problems, and then framed the roof in a way which is now very strong (it was in danger of collapsing under one more snow). I was very impressed with the structural work which is not seen as well as the finish work which is seen. Eric and Phil made a difficult process for us go as easy as possible. I will not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone I know who needs work like this done. Most of them didn't even return phone calls for 6 to 8 weeks, but Joe Hopkins and his crew were at our home quickly and gave us a no BS assessment of best and worst case scenarios. They were also 1/3 less than the other bids even for the low-end repair. In order to reduce costs we wanted to reuse our bathtub, shower glass, shower pan, and our original plumbing fixtures. While the "glass guy" said there was only a 20% chance of being able to reuse all the original glass, the carpenters and tile installers managed to restore the original shower dimensions so that all the glass just fit right in. We interacted with all the crew - carpenters, electrician, plumbers, tile installers, drywall god, painter, and the glass installers; they were, to a man, professional and genuinely nice people. At no time did we ever feel we were being snowed, and work progressed steadily. Joe Hopkins showed up frequently to check in on state of affairs and was up to date on the details of the job. Final results left us with a better shower than we had when it was a brand new home. We plan to use Cornerstone again for future projects.

I am on the HOA Board of a medium-sized townhouse development in Everett, WA. Every step of the way…read moreof our pavement sealing and curb replacement project, we had a negative experience with Nys Enterprises that was punctuated by misrepresentations and unprofessional - and occasionally aggressive - communications. The issues we had were as follows: - When we walked the job with owner Steve Nys, he said he could replace our curbs and quoted the job. After signing the contract, he informed us he did not have the template to match the size of our existing curbs and therefore could not complete the work he had agreed to. This was his first breach of contract. - He agreed to do crack fill on our pavement's largest cracks. Repeatedly, we told Steve we were not satisfied with the job and his replies were full of excuses and far too many exclamation points (so many it felt aggressive) but no actual commitment to provide a satisfactory result. This was Steve's second breach of contract. - His crews were always late, on at least two occasions completing work in the dark (this shows in the attached photos). - Finally we realized we weren't going to get a good result so we just asked Nys to paint our existing curbs. This job was begun at dusk and finished in the dark, and the process involved one worker driving what looked like a homemade cart while another sprayed the curbs with a long wand, leading to a massive amount of overspray and even the branch of a tree being painted red. Just a few months later, the paint is already peeling as no effort was made to clean or even blow off the curb surface before paint was applied. This was Nys Enterprises' third breach of contract. Because every bit of feedback or request for better workmanship was met with excuses and, frankly, aggression both in person and over email, in the end we paid the agreed-upon price just to end our relationship with Nys. I am glad to see that others have had positive experiences working with Nys Enterprises, but for whatever reason, ours was the exact opposite.

I will say initially, they were very responsive and I felt so confident that I picked a great…read morecompany that I did not shop around and get any other quotes. The first group of Uniplex guys that did the emergency clean up/board up were friendly and I thought the board up was done nicely. Then it went downhill from there. We waited months for a permit. We kept asking for an update and were told it was all submitted and permit should be ready any day. The blame was put on the city, so we continued to be patient. Finally one day, I decided to call the city myself and see if I could speed things along. Turns out, the ball was not rolling at all. The city has specific instructions when applying for the permit, the contractor and the engineer they chose (both to blame) did not follow the instructions and never replied to an email from someone in the permit office. So the permit delay was all on them, not the city. When asked about this or any other issue, there was always some elaborate excuse trying to shift blame. They were cutting corners, for example replacing part of the basement wall when insurance had approved full replacement of wall. In an earlier walk through talking about what would be done with our insurance agent and their guy, it was agreed whole basement wall would be replaced but when the work was being done and I saw it was only about half being replaced, I questioned it and they denied ever saying whole wall would be replaced. They didn't even put up plastic to stop the spread of dust from old cinderblocks being sawed into until I asked them about it (after days of dust spreading throughout the home). Then when we had questions about a billing charge, it would be ignored. We brought up errors in the billing and they were unwilling to even discuss it. Our insurance adjuster was kind enough to try and help us by contacting them and mediate a discussion. She should not have had to do that but just shows how difficult they were to work with. 2 stars only because the initial response was good and for the most part stuck to a schedule once the permit was actually submitted properly & approved. However after that, seemed dishonest and shady once we started questioning their work and billing for things that weren't done. I would not recommend them.
