Went with two other friends because we've been craving tacos in what seems like forever. Their appetizers and sides are amazing. The guacamole, plantains, elote etc. all worth it! However, the tacos themselves did not live up to the expecting we had. No flavor, no spice and a very weird almost synthetic smell from the tortilla. Stumbled upon this ever so slightly hidden gem - and so glad I did!! It's a little small but that makes it even better! Was able to snag a seat at the bar and so enjoyed the excellent service from the two lovely people cranking away there. Solid - solid margarita and they have Mezcal which is great!! Food is very good - it is a simple menu - don't expect substantial entrees here but the tostada and tacos are absolutely perfect for the spot. As a vegan I wanted the portobello burger without cheese but was told the cheese is already mixed in with the mushrooms so that was not an option. Bummer. Food is great! However, our whole table was kind of shocked at the rude behaviour from one of the staff members. One person at the table arrived late and the waiter immediately had a go at that person for being late. We didnt want to argue, but our friend had been on a train from Sweden (which ran late) and we had no problem with her therefore arriving later than us. It felt very unprofessional. She continued the passive aggressive behaviour the whole time we were there and it kind of left a weird mood the time we were there. Finally went. Got a burrito bowl with braised veal, some guac, and tacos to share with a friend. It hit the spot and I felt like a hundred dollars afterward (that's a good thing) so without knowing for sure I'm guessing they use quality ingredients. It's not every day I'm eating burrito bowls but when the urge arose last weekend, Bar Burrito nailed it. Two months into my temporary Danish residency, I couldn't take it any longer - I needed Mexican food!! Coming from San Diego, I'm accustomed to some top notch guac/burritos/tacos and was ready to put Barburrito to the test. We booked a super late rezzie @ 9:45 because they were booked until then but we showed up 20 minutes early to see if they could squeeze us in. The host was pretty stern in saying that the place was full and that we couldn't stand by the bar so we left to grab a drink until 9:45. When we came back he told us our reservation was at 10pm... What? Not sure how it changed? So we left again, grabbed another drink and finally got our seat at 10pm. We ordered margaritas right away - pretty standard but very weak, barely tasted the tequila. After about 15 minutes of being ignored our waitress (who was very nice) came back and told us that the kitchen closed in 10 minutes so we have to order quickly. Would have been nice to take our order 15 minutes ago... We ordered two chip and guac plates to start. The chips were great but they gave us enough guac for about one chip - holding back on the good stuff! And it was more of an avocado cilantro mash than guacamole. I ordered two chicken two veggie tacos. The shredded chicken was pretty good and the veggie was just roasted peppers onions and guac. They are super small so I suggest ordering more than 4. Barburrito has a super fun and lively atmosphere but the average food and poor service make it worthy of 3 stars. Not many other Mexican options in the city so I'll probably find myself desperate enough to come back. read more

Really loved the tacos here. I don't eat meat so I had the veggie tacos and the shrimp tacos. The shrimp was delicious and the veggie tacos were some of the most flavorful that I have had. The tacos also came with some really nice sauces. I also enjoyed the drinks- i had one of the mojitos. My friend had the black bean hummus and she loved it and my other friend had a burrito. It was a ton of food but she was very pleased. We went on a Friday night and thus needed a reservation. It is not a big place so I would recommend making a reservation. read more

So let's start by saying on went here on a whim. Having been sorely disappointed by Hija de Sanchez, I figured Mexican cuisine would just not be possible in Copenhagen. While Barburrito isn't Mexican cuisine a la Rick Bayless (now that's true Chicago Mex) this place hits the comfy zone I'll call Mix-Mex. Think CaliMex or TexMex food and that's what Barburritos is - comfy and fun. I had the sweet potato burrito with totopos and guacamole. The ingredients aren't traditional but that habanero salsa was on point! Everything was presented in a easy no fuss way and the overall ambiance accentuated that. The drinks were ok; there's only so much you can do with low end tequila. I would definitely recommend this place for an easy, inexpensive and fun semi-Mexican meal. I have been to barburrito several times, its always a great experience. They had a Cinco de Mayo party that included unlimited tacos and selected cocktails and beer for two hours, I must say I'm so glad I found out about this in time to book a table. Since we were a party of two and the place is quite small, and it was a Friday night we were seated at the bar. It was actually great because the servers were quite attentive even though it was busy and quite the party atmosphere. It was definitely a fun night! Drinks and tacos kept pouring in, the food was delicious. We had the pork, veal, chicken and vegetarian tacos. I especially loved the vegetarian and chipotle chicken tacos. I added the habanero hot sauce, and also the medium hot sauce which gave it a delicious taste! The veggie tacos came with guacamole, mushrooms and tomatoes - so flavorful! The drinks were also good - the margarita was a bit sweet for me so I kept with the ginger mojito which was fantastic! Fun yet chill place with great Mexican food - this place is a real gem! For some reason I've never had much tex-mex food whilst "out and about" before. But Barburrito has definitely peaked my interest! I decided to book a table one sunday evening because of all the great reviews on Yelp. Three taco-hungry Norwegian friends were visiting for the weekend. We were all very well-welcomed by the friendly staff and a crowded, but cosy (super warm place) atmosphere. The look and feel of the joint was quite "Mexican" (my interpretation of Mexican, that is) with wooden and tiled walls, neon lights in the windows and decorations ala "Dia de los Muertos". The waitress seemed to be quite fresh in the game, but was very friendly and informed us about the menu. We ordered chicken tacos and two different kinds of pork tacos. One was the so-called taco of the week and was quite spicy, but super yummy. My more independent friend got a chicken burrito, which I was informed was also delicious. Extra guacamole were had by all. Of course. Everything I got tasted wonderful. Plus points are given for putting plenty of coriander on the tacos, on the guacamole, on everything! Minus points could be given for the two banana flies that were buzzing around our table when we got there. But then again, I'm all for authenticity! I loved Copenhagen, and there are many reasons why. However, the main one was how quickly and easily I was able to find great places to eat...just by walking down the street, closing your eyes, and pointing in any direction. Barburrito looked pretty inconspicuous from outside (had I blinked, I would have missed it). The inside was super dark and super hipster. We were told that the booths were all booked (though all empty...), but we were glad to sit at the bar. One of the bartenders was Swedish, and another was Norwegian. I loved how international the place was. As a native English speaker it pleased me to be able to converse with all the servers. They were all super friendly, and the Swedish bartender was more than happy to sit with us for a few minutes and explain all our options. Seriously, I've never seen someone smile that much while describing tacos that they were going to watch others devour. We ordered a burrito and 2 kinds of tacos to split. The tacos were crispy pork and their special that week(or month?), seared tuna. Both were incredibly tasty, and I enjoyed the variety and creativity of toppings. This isn't a very authentic Mexican place, but I didn't go in expecting that either. The burrito contained braised veal and I couldn't believe just HOW much meat was in it. My friends and I, stumble into this place. We were nervous at first, but it turned out to be amazing. Food was great and authentic, while the staff was awesome. Sesselja was our waitress and had a great sense of humor, perfect English and great jokes. We had an assortment of dishes, and each was delicious. I had the "Hungry Meal" of the menu, which included the burrito... It's was really good and fulfilling. While the entire dinning area was a little smaller, and it was not a "white table cloth" style restaurant, it was very authentic and good. Our trip to Bar Burrito did not go well.... First off there was the exceptionally rude manager on the Saturday night we were there. He tried to claim our booking was at 5.30 and not 7.30 and that we were trying to lie about the time we had booked for. After some arguing he squeezed us into a space at the bar, opposite the tills, next to a speaker and beside the toilets. He had to move his mates who were sitting there which he seemed gutted about and I am sure they were not happy about losing their access to free drinks for the night. The place itself looks quite cool and I was hoping the food would turn around the experience, but sadly it was very poor. I had a pork burrito and it was totally tasteless. Just about as bland as you could imagine and nothing like Mexican food should be. Alongside it I had a Negra Modelo which was standard light Mexican beer. I thought why not try and save the situation lets try for dessert. When I asked the manger on the night who was serving us he looked as if I had asked him to crap in his hands and clap. I'm a novice when it comes to Mexican food. A really really good taco might hit me in the face and I might not be able to recognise it, so this is a really amateur review from my side. My friend and I ordered the hola menu, with salmon ceviche on the side and a burrito. The food was lovely. The tacos, although small, were good and the burrito was definitely better than those sad imitation sold in various middle-eastern "pizzaria" (the misspelling was intended). My friend who originally from California was thoroughly satisfied with the meal, although she did say that this must be a fusion thing, so the "gadekøkken" claim might not hold water. The service was lovely. The corn on the cob (too much everything on it!) was cut in two, and so was the burrito and when I asked for the burrito to be wrapped in a doggie bag, the waiter didn't bat an eye (or maybe he's seen too many frugal Asian patrons and was used to the idea of doggie bag) and everything was so nice. Why the three stars? When I first booked the table, I got confirmation message and all, which was nice, but I noticed that they imposed a fee for not showing up. That's a new thing. I suppose I could understand the restaurant's side for doing that since guests booking a table and not showing up might be the most annoying thing ever, but will you give us a break? I almost - ALMOST - cancelled my reservation (it's free until 1pm that day) and planned to eat somewhere else due to the fee. (I didn't plan to NOT come, but shit happens sometimes and suddenly you can't show up for your dinner reservation (would broken leg be a legit cause?) Another thing was the price. The two of us spent over 600kr for Hola menu + salmon ceviche + burrito and 4 beers. It might be fine enough for Copenhagen, but I felt that we could have had so much more for that price. But hey, I've lived in Copenhagen for years, so nothing really surprises me... I might come back, but it has to be on special occassion and I'm afraid, despite their tacos and burritos (and the plantain chips were to die for!) were delicious, I might pick somewhere else for the money. read more

It´s really hard to find good Mexican food in Copenhagen, I´ve only found one (one which aren´t following the "Santa Maria Mexican food" because there are lots of those) I had really high expectations for this place, as several freinds had recommended to go here. And it started out good - was very easy to book a table at their website, the place was very nice and cosy, good atmosphere and nice staff. But that was pretty much it and what they get the stars for, because the food was not good at all. I am aware that they call it Mexican street foos as it should be in Copenhagen, BUT but but but - I like that my Mexican street food actually taste of something, and I am not sure they have ever tasted Mexican street food. I had the Plaintanes with guaca, the coriander shrimp and the roastet pork tacos. All of it was pretty much tasteless and the roastet pork, had a strange taste to it. I know that Danish people can be resistant towards spicy and hot food ---- But I think they can handle a bit more spices and taste. Plus I don´t know if the two flies in two of my tacos was included in the price or just free of charge. But easy to say I wont be coming back here, I like my Mexican food to taste of something and be spicy. read more

They cut and serve their burritos in a kind of weird way, but the food tastes great. I can also recommend their cocktails. I have such conflicted feelings about Barburrito. One one hand, the tacos here are the best I've ever tasted, on the other hand I just know that the service will threaten to ruin the whole experience. This means that I go there when I feel particularly emotionally stable, so I am ready to deal with long waiting times, orders forgotten and desperate attempts to obtain eye-contact with the waiters, who seem to be desperately avoiding it. So why the 4 stars? 1) The tacos are to die for. Braised veal, pork and shrimp tacos never fail. They are juicy and have interesting combination of ingredients, my favourite being the pickled shallot onion and pork. 2) Barburrito has THE corn on THE cob. Good grill, coriander creme and chili - just so good. 3) The atmosphere is very intimate, dark, cozy and I feel teleported to another place in another time. 4) I am also a big fan of funky restaurant toilets. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you ever decide to feed at Barburrito you should also try to spend some time at the facilities. So sip on your Negra Modelo, take a deep breath when things are slow and don't go your way, and enjoy the taco. read more

As a San Diegan in Copenhagen, it felt a little weird going out for Mexican food, but after the Italian whirlwind of pasta and pizza, I was ready for a taste of home. Barburrito does Mexican food up right. I remember the corn as a standout item - I never would have ordered it if the server hadn't recommended it. The tacos and our shared burrito were great. I had a jalapeno margarita, and give it two thumbs up. Strong with good flavor, and a real bite from the pepper. (It might have been habanero, not jalapeno - I can't say I remember precisely...) The serving staff here likes to have a good time, which rubbed off on us. They were singing, chatting, and taking pictures with one another, all the while laughing and enjoying themselves. If you demand super-attentive waitstaff that roams the aisles asking you how every bite was, this may not be the best place for you. If you're interested in jumping into a booth for some drinks, Mexican food, and to talk more with your friends or group than the staff, then this is a great place! read more

I tried the crispy pork tacos. The tacos look great but the taste isn't all there. They did taste better than most other "tacos" in the region. But there seem to be some oily taste to the pork. The pork seemed to be carnitas but, again, it had different taste to it. The tacos weren't as carnitas juicy or carnitas tasty. It didn't come with the onions and cilantro, it had some other topping, cabbage like, with a piece of pork rind and one cube of sausage. The corn on the cob seemed to be the popular order, most every table had one. It looked legit, but I didn't order one so I don't know if it was good or not. The place is small and busy. The staff was good. The music isn't too loud that you have to shout to the person sitting next to you. It has a good vibe. In the end, the tacos were better than at other Scandinavian places. If you're Mexican and have a crave for some Mexican tacos, then this is the better option just to get a similar taste. This is no doubt the best burrito that I've had in Europe, actually, better than most burritos in the US. Roasted veal and pork were both good choices. The bar staff is friendly and innovative - trying things like licorice root infused tequila and espresso tequila martini - which (believe it or not) are actually pretty good. The menu has a great selection of other items - like corn, tacos, plantains - that all seemed good. Don't forget to try their salsas in squeeze bottles.
