This is the coolest place with the nicest staff. It truly is unique, I found many things of interest here. The store could use some air freshner, as all old clothes places could, but I had a lot of fun thrifting. Some notables: cassette tapes! What a throwback! If you have a player, go for it. Really solid thrift store - super huge! Took us 2ish hours to get through most of the store but still could've spent many more hours. Best MyUnique out of the other ones I've been to in Union City and Paterson and Value Village in Hawthorne. Got the biggest haul here compared to all the other MyUniques. Would recommend checking it out at least once! They no longer do the rewards points btw. Restroom was locked. They gave us two small bottles of hand sanitizer as a gift. read more

So here's the thing about thrift stores, most of the time they are incredibly hit or miss. You can visit the same store all the time and see nothing of interest, and then one day come in and walk out with loads of items. Well, this thrift store is no different. It's a MyUnique Thrift. Being a long time shopper at their Jamaica, NY location, I knew what I was getting into when visiting a location in a different city/state. I've been here a handful of times now, and it's exactly like the one in Jamaica. There are some items that are good and priced correctly, and then there are items that make you scratch your head and wonder what the h-e-double hockey sticks they were smoking when they took this merchandise in and priced it. On my most recent visit, they had old electronics like typewriters, VCRs, etc. FYI, I love VCRs and still own a good tape collection, but they had one priced at $50 and all I could do was shake my head and be on my way. But then, as I was browsing their knickknack toy section, I came across a bag of old McDonald's toys from the movie Hercules and the Prince of Egypt. I instantly recognized them because I remember spending many hours playing with them. Some memories just stick with you and back in the 90's, McDonald's toys were of better quality. That was $2 and well worth it. I've also gotten a few quilted handbags here, and mainly I come for the kitchenware and the young children's clothing. Kids outgrow clothing so fast, and I'm a firm believer in making my dollar stretch, and the kids clothes prices are mostly reasonable. Also, they have in lots of great roasting pans and old Corningware/Pyrex bakeware that I snatch it up whenever I see it. I'm talking stuff my parents owned back when I was growing up. Buy It For Life is true! Now, when you couple this with their random discount days, you actually can be thrifty and not break the bank much in this place. The bad, fitting rooms are still not open. So I refuse to buy clothing for myself here until that's rectified, and we don't know when. COVID. Sign up for their rewards program/text messages, and they'll tell you the night before, the best day for discounts. Staff is incredibly hit-and-miss - like most locations. Also, they do have you check your bags - again, like most locations. As long as you go with knowing what to expect, you'll be fine. Try to shop here early when they first open and/or on weekdays. Lines are nonexistent. If you come on a weekend, be prepared to wait a few minutes to check out. Also, self-checkout registers - half are card and half are cash, and the attendant does ask you which half you are. Furthermore, the bags are sometimes there and also are pretty thin or the wrong size. And if something doesn't scan or have a price, be prepared to leave it, as they don't like trying to price it for you. Try to bring a reusable bag if possible. read more

The selection here is unbelievable. My husband and I spent two hours browsing the assortment of quality new-enough and vintage clothes, before we even looked at the variety of baby stuff, which is what we came for. The price is right, too. It's not expensive like how Goodwill and Salvation Army have become. If games, toys, and gifts for kids is what you're looking for, come here first. I saw large and intricate dollhouses, multiple rocking ponies, soooo many huge and adorable plushies, and of course an assortment of bouncy balls. They have essentially a wall of board games. If you have been to the Unique in Union City and left disappointed, know that the Elizabeth location is totally different. I wouldn't recommend the one in Union City. read more

After spending 20 minutes looking for parking, I was able to locate a spot on the street. I fed the meter and walked quite a ways to get there but I made it. The toys, clothes and other items are mostly garbage. I'm wondering how it's even legal to put a price tag on and sell those items but I had to remember where I was. Love the stores on Route 22. Prices used to be a little cheaper but pants and shirts for only $6 you cant beat it. They had 50% off for Presidents day! They had a sign 25% off mondays. And sometimes youll find the odd valuable collectible from 1984 that you can resell on ebay that some one just donated and didnt care to find out the real value of. Great place. Great place for cheap toys too. And they have books. They desperately need to add more fitting rooms though! read more

One of My favorite thrift stores ! I never ever leave empty handed. I love their jewelry selection and they always have some pretty cool finds . The only thing I don't like is the parking they do have a very small lot around the corner but that gets packed very quickly . read more

Please check your change they are giving countefit bills. I paid with a $50 bill was returned $30 the $20 bill I was returned I went to use at the pizzariera next door when I was informed the bill is fake went to bank next door where the bill was checked and confiscated. I then went back to unique where there is a very rude cashier a guy with long hair stated that he can't do anything that it's my problem not his then he cursed at me saying he would fucking so me if I took his pic and that he didn't have to give me his info so I could put it on the police report. But there was a nice lady manager that is trying to help resolve the issue . So far besides the embarrassment I went threw in the pizzariera and bank and being insulted by the rude guy. I am also out $20 due to there negligence. So if you ever go there check your money . There are other reports of countefit bills here. read more

Come in with an open mind and a lot of spare time. There are hidden gems in Elizabeth's location...I promise! Just remember (especially on half off days) how much money and good your doing for the environment shopping second hand, and ignore the drama. I was at the 116 Broad street store in Elizabeth today Election Day 50-% sale and bought $60 worth of items but a pair of pants didn't have a tag so the cashier said go downstairs and have them tag it for you and finish paying for it, I told him I really needed to dress pants for church they held my bag that I bought and paid for and I went downstairs to see if they can tag it so I can buy it but the lady Claudia Seemed upset that I asked for help so after my third attempt to ask her she abruptly took it went to the back then walked back and went to work so I said where's my pants and she said I gave it to the men's pants tag guy and it's back in circulation, you have to wait til it go's back upstairs , I asked to speak to a manager of which a Hispanic male manager came up to me and said I'm sorry but that's our policy which means I would have to wait until it's off the line in the basement, wait for them to tag then send it back up in circulation so technically wait all day to get those pants, so for frequent member customers to try and have customer satisfaction or profess courtesy there's no way that someone can place a price tag on it and have the customer finish his or her purchase? I come here for the albums, books and vintage home-wares ( vases, crystals). You find some pretty great vintage jewelry too if you are patient enough but I find it very over priced for a thrift shop. It's two floors and always packed especially on Thursday when its 25% off but you have to have a card. The also have another location on 22 in Watchung which is cleaner with a better stuff at times. read more

First off, let's have a moment of silence for the MyUnique that closed last month in downtown Brooklyn. That was my fave thrift store and the last week was intense -- it went from 70% to 80% to 90% off and I was there for all of the madness. Women were chasing down racks and cashiers were yelling at them to stop acting like animals. One of the cashiers even sat on a cart as another employee wheeled it in order to stop aggressive shoppers from grabbing the merchandise. Welcome to Brooklyn! Well, en route to Maryland I recently visited the MyUnique in Elizabeth, NJ for the first time and it was so well organized and civilized. The store wasn't crowded and customers weren't fighting with cashiers and vice versa. I did 30 minutes of speed shopping and came out with four pairs of boots (one was a pair of Cole Haan leather booties), a Dooney & Bourke bag (fake, made in Korea) and a vintage leather backpack. Using my 50% birthday coupon, my total came to $26! I will definitely visit this location again (or maybe not after I just read a Yelp review about them giving out counterfeit bills) and I look forward to checking out other MyUnique stores in the NY/NJ area. read more

Greetings , my family and I have been shopping at Unique Thrift for several years. Mostly we've been satisfied, we shop for our household as well as other households that may be in need through our ministry. When your a consumer spending his/her hard earned money the last thing you expect is someone to be blatantly nasty because you and I quote. " Have to much shit..." . Again, I shop for other households which really shouldn't matter. My experience today has soured my stomach to the lack of simple customer service as well as common human courtesy. I was told by my cashier that I had to bag my own stuff because " I got a line..." I guess I was moving to slow for her liking because she decided to help me after all. This isn't my first disturbing interaction but at last I thought you should know the behavior of the employees that represent you as a whole. I've been to numerous locations and have had great experiences and always recommend those specific locations to anyone I interact with. Elizabeth's location will never again be a go to place to shop, being the recipient of nastiness is a part of your shopping experience if you shop there. read more

I have finally had it with this place!!! I live in Elizabeth and I've been an avid flea market/thrift store shopper since I was 14. I understand that thrift stores don't operate like regular stores, but this one does. It's very organized, the staff wear the same same t-shirt, it's the most store-like thrift shop. And they are a chain, they are everywhere. The things is, they accept donations, and are apparently making lots of money. Now here is my issue, if you want to be a respectable "store" then respect your customers, no matter who they are. The manager here is really mean, once I asked her if I could leave my cart for five minutes while I fed the meter and with the biggest attitude there is she said "if in exactly five minutes you are not back, this stuff is going back." I let that go. Then came the multiple times that I picked up items that did not have a price on them and was told I was not able to buy them because they don't sell things without price tags. The thing is that this is not posted anywhere in the store, but it's "store policy" also I am pretty sure that if something does not have a price it's their fault, not the customers. And if they appreciated their customers, the manager on duty would price the item, especially if it's a kids toy that is half-broken, and has caused a 3-year old toddler to break out crying because now she can't have it because the cashier just said that it's "store policy" not to sell items without price tags. Then there was the time that a worker yelled out loud in the toys section "kids aren't aloud to touch the toys!" And although there were like 11 kids there, she was staring at mine. So I asked her if she was speaking to us, and she said "Does it look like I'm speaking to you?" Then she began following me and my daughter around and even called a manager because she could not take all these "kids" making a mess. That was the day that I decided that I would not go back to that place. The way you get treated here is just not worth it for me, I thought, but then there are the people that shop there because they have to, because they can't buy thier kids new clothes, or toys. And you feel even worse, because the fact that I'm the first person writing about this place (who I'm willing to bet my life has treated hundreds of poeple like crap), means that they think it's ok. And they keep getting away with their rude behavior. Seriously, you walk in there and you see at least 10 employees off the bat including the cashier. They have more employees than the store Shoppers World next to them. They are obviously making a lot of money. But it's coming from needy people, not their customer satisfaction. I have been going there for two years and it's just now that I've had it with them. Never again. Unique Elizabeth, you are Unique in your rudeness, that's for sure. And perhaps donors should think twice before donating to these stores. There are stores like Goodwill and the Salvation Army that will take those things and still manage to help people and not treat their customers badly. I know because I have also shopped in those store. And Unique is way pricier!
