My co-worker has been talking about Augusta Mae for the longest time. I finally had the opportunity to visit this shop. I came here before my vacation looking for a casual pocketbook I could take on the airplane. I thought the shop was adorable and even took some pictures for Yelp. The shop is located in an old house, which adds to the charm but limits those with mobility issues As the only way in are steep stairs. There is a nice selection of pocket books, clothing and accessories. The young lady who works there was very friendly and helpful. I purchased a pocketbook for my vacation and fell in love with another pocketbook but decided against buying it for the price. Ah, girls and their pocketbooks because I couldn't stop thinking of it! I came back the same day, before closing and ended up buying the second pocketbook for work. I put the pocketbook in my closet and left for vacation with the casual pocketbook. Well this morning before heading back to work, I decided to take it out and opened it to put my wallet in and saw it was damaged..ugh! Mind you, I should have inspected the purse further before buying it. But I was so happy with the first purchase that I didn't think to inspect the interior. Seeing the price, I am annoyed that I wasn't told about this. Look at the picture! I loved the store, but would be more cautious about purchasing a pocketbook here. Lesson learned, I will definitely inspect it carefully next time. read more

These ladies are wonderful! What a great business they have created! LOTS of fun. The shop itself has a million things to look at. I could spend my entire paycheck there. The front of the store, an older house, has a great open porch - sometimes its nice to just stand there and take-in the views of downtown. You could spend an hour in Augusta Mae, just wandering through and seeing all the cool stuff they have. They sell consignment clothes and purses, as well as jewelry and other accessories. Everything is in excellent condition - I picked up a Vera Bradley bag and it literally looks like new. The owners are incredibly nice and there's nothing else like this in the area. A little slice of heaven in the heart of Cranford. Great variety of jewelry, accessories and home decor. Many local artisan creations as well as unique jewelry collections from different charity organizations. Aside from the easily identifiable logos on designer handbags and shoes it is almost impossible to tell which items are consignment until you look at the unbelievable price tags. The owners are friendly, helpful (but not pushy) and genuinely interested in you and your story. Haggling isn't even necessary here. Love this boutique. Went there for the first time and owner was amazing. One of the Best customer service experiences I have had. My sister bought me something in a different boutique and I went there to change the color without a receipt and though I have been a customer there for years and have spent thousands of dollars there I was refused an exchange without a receipt. When I shared that story with Clara the owner of Augusta Mae she was so gracious and exchanged my product for me even knowing the item wasn't purchased there. I was so impressed with this store. I was just walking around Cranford and the sale in this shop caught my eye.
