Took my 91 year old mother-in-law for her eye exam. First, Gregory was outstanding;. He was so kind and more than helpful as she is wheelchair bound. Kudos for making this visit as easy as he could. The office is absolutely not set up for patients in wheelchairs and we used her smaller one. The office was crowed and there is way too much furniture to comfortably navigate. The outer office waiting area does not have a wheelchair "parking" area. Now onto the eye exam . . . without Gregory, it would have been hard to complete. The equipment for the pre-exam portion is not handicap friendly. Luckily, this patient can stand for a short time. For one portion, her wheelchair wouldn't fit the area and she had to move to the chair. Now onto the actual eye exam, I knew that she would have to move to the chair but how do people who can't get out of their wheelchairs get eye exams? This really made me think and I want an answer to this? Let's discuss picking out new glasses for the wheelchair bound patients. Ugghhhhhhhhhh. There was no good spot for this either. We were in the way of everyone and there was not comfortable location for her to see in the mirror. The kind employee had to keep bring over the table mirror for her to see the glasses. Felt rushed to complete the process due to space constraint. This is not a great location for wheelchair patients. read more

The doctor (Dr. Grand) was great, very thorough. The young woman who checks you in was okay. BIG problem with the woman who sold glasses. As soon as I was done with Dr. Grand she (and the 'check in' woman to an extent) started making fun of me because I said I would buy my glasses elsewhere. This went on for several minutes. Their frames are marked up to an obscene price and you'd have to be an idiot not to go elsewhere, especially trying to stay within your insurance allowance for eyeware. I am on Medicare, live off of disability-I am not paying hundreds of dollars in store when I can get identical glasses and stay within my insurance allowance at another store or online. She made me feel two inches tall and very angry. No one is obligated to buy their glasses-someone needs to fire her. I would go back for my yearly exam if she is not there and the sales were not so nastily aggressive. read more

They have always been mediocre, but my last experience sent me over the edge. I made the mistake of booking a remote optometrist appointment at their facility. I made my desire for daily contacts known to everyone I spoke to, including the optometrist, and was given two samples of daily contacts to try out before placing my order. I placed my order on the phone, only to receive monthly contacts. When I called them to see what could be done to correct their mistake and get me the daily contacts I was under the impression I was ordering, I was dismissively told that "most people order monthly contacts" and that my only option was to book yet another appointment and pay full price again. I found the lack of any sort of willingness to correct a mistake on their end to be inexcusable. I submitted a patient relations request, but unless they send me what I ordered I will not be coming to any MyEyeDr location again. read more

Twice I had a scheduled appointment, first online and then by phone, and both times they disappeared without a trace. There was no accommodation or accountability, just come by in two months when they had an opening. I've now found a place that's reliable. read more

I'm sorry to have to leave this review, I was excited to try out a new place close by. One office person was great, the other impatient and borderline rude. When my glasses were done, they just gave it to me in a bag, thank you, good-bye, no check to see if it fits right or anything (Why are you still standing there blinking at me in disbelief? I have other customers to deal with at the moment...) Now ordinarily I would give three stars for their first time with me, and try again- but I asked them to send my prescription to another eye-glass center, so I can put some lenses in older frames that I bought over there- and that's where we get the single star rating. Being lectured on what I should tell the other folks with prescription numbers over the phone instead of just faxing the correct numbers over is quite insulting. I pay for THEM to do their job, and get the numbers right, and work with me. They didn't try to work with me, or speak to the dr again, and instead seemed insulted and claimed the numbers are correct. The new glasses I got from them are not great, and I don't have a working pair of intermediates now. So who "wins" here? Certainly not me. They had one job to do. They failed miserably at this. Never again. I have now wasted several weeks trying to get glasses that are right. Now going to another eye dr (one I've used before but a bit far away for me) to get a new prescription from folks whom I know will not give me crap about it and work with me to get it right before the start of the teaching/school year. Before arriving to my appointment, I was contacted to verify info and then my original appointment got canceled because of an overbooking. It was very confusing, but got it straightened out. The appointment was seamless regardless and I was able to snag a new pair of glasses. I was also able to get my questions answered as it has been a small while since my last eye exam. Def a good place to check out if you need to get an eye exam and an updated prescription! read more

I've been coming here for years and have put off finding a new provider because I was lazy. This was the last straw. The front desk person was so rude and kept cutting me off when I was just stating my name and appointment time. She then informs me, they cancelled my appointment because it was not confirmed! In the past, they have billed me for things the insurance company states they have covered. Their estimates are worthless, and your glasses end up costing way more with surprise bill in the mail after the fact. The billing department is absolutely no help! read more

They told my 80 year old mother her latest glasses would be free with her insurance, but then never ordered them. She ultimately waited 6-8 weeks only to be told that they weren't covered and that she had to pay for them, and that she'd have to wait another 2 weeks while they were actually on order. WOW, was I ever lucky last week when I walked into MyEyeDr. Without an appointment, I received attention quickly. The staff was efficient and eager to please. My insurance was a bit tricky. I paid way more for glasses then I expected - and I had my own frames - so in 2021 I got a pair I couldn't see from because they gave me single vision and I was supposed to get progressives then 2022 in February I got progressive and still couldn't see , they were low quality and chipped quickly , I'm new to glasses and couldn't figure out why I couldn't see and was repeatedly told it's because my eyes need to adjust ... long story short they never measured where my pupils fall in my glasses, thank goodness I finally got ahold of Malory in the phone and she had me come in and solved the problem . Made an appt for my daughter 2 months ago for this past weekend when she came home from college. Got a text the day before saying they were looking forward to seeing her. Got there and they told is her appt was canceled because they didn't get verbal confirmation from us so we went down as a no show. I asked how that could be when we were right there then. I told the desk person she was here this weekend and needed to be seen. The desk woman just kept saying, "That's our policy" and "There's nobody here to see her". No attempt at any empathy or to try to solve the problem. I asked to see a supervisor and was told there isn't one. My son was there 2 weeks ago and there was no verbal confirmation. I booked an appointment for my son who is 5 years old (because they said that they would care for all ages on their website) They called me on the day when we have appointment with them, they told me that that doctor doesn't care for kids, they wanted reschedule our appointment with an other doctor. We had to wait for 2 more weeks to see doctor. I got sms, phone calls from them to remind me for the appointment. And then when we came to see doctor, they said they don't have patients who is under 8, they asked nobody told you that? I'm so mad at them. I don't know what do their recipients do for? Got an eye exam because I needed contacts. The Dr was polite and pleasant. The problem came when my order of contacts arrived. I picked them up and the next morning opened a box and put on a set and quickly discovered that it was a prescription completely wrong for my eyes. Not even close. I took the boxes back ( one open and the other closed). The first thing out of their mouth was that I would not be getting credit for opened box. I said OK. It costs me $90 to replace, but OK. There was some explanation about a new girl got confused.... I told them they could have the opened box and maybe donate them to someone that is struggling to pay. No one apologized, or even acknowledged that I had to go back and forth too many times to get the right order. Today, I picked up the corrected prescription. The lady just handed me the bag. I suggested that since I got the wrong prescription the first time, that maybe they work into the rotation a quick view (with the patient) to confirm prescription. I was told rather abruptly that the prescription is verified when they are bagged. Ok! Like I said, the exam portion of the visit was outstanding, but beyond that, I would not recommend. I didn't put up a fuss about having to pay an extra $90 for my contacts. I will not use them again. I think the customer service portion of the business is highly unorganized. What is worse is that they didn't seem to care at all that I had to make 4 trips and pay for 3 boxes of contacts when I only received 2. read more

This office provides horrible customer service. I tried booking 2 appointments for my family online, got confirmation notices. The next day, I got a call from the office who said the appointment booking process never works, that it booked my family when times were not available. They said this is a known issue for a long time. I explained we need back to back appointments and she scheduled us for August 21st. Three days later, I get text messages and the appointments are 1.5 hours apart. We called, spoke to yet another person, who blamed the online scheduling (despite this being scheduled by their staff) for the error and said they don't have back to back appointments on August 21. I asked to speak to manager and was told there is no manager assigned to this office. The staff member tried offering us appointments a week again in the future, after my daughter returns to school. Their frame selection is tired and basic. Obviously the company doesn't care about this store if you don't have a manager. I don't know why the company keeps this location in business. For your sake, don't book here. You will have nothing but headaches. read more

if I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are very unprofessional, rude, don't answer the phone, but even worse give you an appointment for that day and cancel it. I called Monday morning after going to the minute clinic Sunday afternoon for my eye. They told me to go to the eye dr I went to My Eye Dr in Hamden a couple of months ago with my mom and the first experience wasn't bad. I should have known, a customer barged in and was yelling at the receptionist when I was there. I didn't think anything of it until my experience.. I called Monday at 10 am, no answer so I left a very detailed voicemail name number what's going on, if they can fit me in or point me where I can go. I waited a few hours no call back. called again, nothing. I call my primary care dr for advice on what to do since ive been in excruciating pain. Waited, the nurse called me to tell me I should go to the eye dr since they have the proper tools to really look because it doesn't sound good. I explained I called early in the morning and again and they never called me back. She said let me try I gave her the name of the dr place, the number, we laughed since it's actually called "my eye dr." Then she wrote down my number as well to call me back, its now about 4pm she called me back within minutes tells me she talked to them which kinda put me off but i needed help so she asked if i can go at 5 I said of course she goes great I made an appt for 5. My husband was not home from work and because it was last minute we couldn't plan accordingly I paid a 20 dollar Uber to get there since they would probably dilate my eyes and who knows what else. I arrive at 4:37 just to make sure I made the appt, with traffic I made it still really early . I walk in greeted by my favorite consultant who helped me last time, she was really sweet, then I went up to the desk. The receptionist with short curly hair and glasses was an older woman, she was very disheveled and confused she said I did not have an appointment . I said I definitely did for 5 my drs office just talked to someone she persisted I didn't and that they called the wrong place I assured her they did not since I gave them the info, then asked for my number after a couple of times, gave it to her still nothing I stated my drs office just called about 20 minutes ago I came right here. Then she asked if it was under another number eventually we figure out it's under my moms number for whatever reason my mother and sister go there often so they must have accidentally mistaken us. She then tells me the appointment was cancelled because "THE DR WAS RUNNING BEHIND" and they called my moms number and rescheduled for wed, but they didn't talk to me! So they verified with someone who wasn't the patient, on top of it my mom didn't reschedule ! As you can imagine I'm pretty heated I live 20 minutes away I have no car i paid 20 + dollars to get there and on top of that my eye is bright red swollen my vision is off its very sensitive to light and I'm in excruciating pain more so than you can imagine! Now I'm arguing with her, then the girl who made the appointment, long dark hair, comes over and tries to justify that they called me. Long story short they tried to blame my drs office, they tried to blame me, they also lied a bunch, all the while no-ones apologized or taken any accountability. What happened was the girl who made the appt with the drs office messed up and booked me when she shouldn't have so within 20 minutes of them hanging up with the drs office they realized it and tried to cancel with the wrong patient! Then this red headed angry girl with glasses came over too rudely yelled back at me and told me to leave after telling them my eye is hurting me it's an emergency and I spent 20 dollars on a Uber they should at LEAST reimburse me for that she said very cocky "we will absolutely not do that and then go to urgent care. MEANWHILE had they called me in the morning OR told my drs office they couldn't take me OR called the right number I would have gone somewhere else.This is for the red headed uneducated girl, urgent care which you told me to go, does NOT have an eye dr/optometrist. They should definitely have some better educated people on their staff. Urgent care sent me to the ER to see an eye dr bc of the pain, headache,vision was worse, and I needed to see an eye dr! The drs office, urgent care, even THE ER I WENT TO FOR 6 HOURS LAST NITE to wait for an optomotrist/ eye dr we're all APPALED after I told them what happened. They all said I should have went to the eye dr when they saw my eye and I told them I tried and what happened they all shook their head in disbelief. NOW after 2 full days of trying to get treatment for my eye and waiting 26 hours to see an optometrist I have a pretty hefty bill thanks to My Eye Dr. I WILL be contacting an attorney. Drs not wanting to stay and untrained, uneducated unprofessional employees mocking a patient pleading in excruciating pain. TERRIBLE! read more

​The experience was very bad and won't recommend it. The doctor was professionally sound, but it is the problem of Myeyedr group that they want you to visit again and again. Beware, they will never inform you about the extra charges and you will end up paying the extras. Beware, they have the tendency to bring you back to their shop and pay for it, whereas they can easily get the things done in one visit. Most of the professional fees are way too high and will rip you off unnecessarily. 1) I have healthy eyes and needed to have a routine checkup. They went for the computerized imaging "Screening Photos" instead of traditional dilation. This will cost an extra $40 USD out-of-pocket and they never mentioned this, until the payment counter. I was surprised.  This is over the $225 USD which they will get from the insurance. 2) I needed a certificate for DMV and instead of doing all the checkups in the same seating of Comprehensive Eye Examination, they made me visit their shop another day. This cost me another $120 USD out-of-pocket. This exam is "Visual Field Evaluation" and according to the internet, it should cost around $30-$40. They said that the device was not running on the first day when I visited them. They lied as they wanted me to visit them again. How long does it take to start a computer-based device (Visual Field Evaluation Examination) ? Lastly, the doctor said that the DMV certificate will not be helpful as the DMV might take my eye test again at the DMV site. Meaning wastage of the visit and if he had told me before, I would have not visited the second time. Please Note: their prescription is valid for 1 year only, compared to 2 years elsewhere. Overall, they are leeches and want to milk you through unscrupulous means. Will never visit them again. Visit at your own risk and best of luck. In the end, the receptionist asked me whether the doctor asked me to visit again. Really? The customer service is also pathetic. My account was also messed up in the sense that switched my phone number with another wrong number. This error prevented me to access my account details including my prescription and appointment details. When I informed them of this, the receptionist told me that they will rectify it and call back but they never did. I have informed them many times about this but still haven't heard back from them, this is very disappointing. read more

I was SO excited when I walked into MyEyeDr. and was immediately relieved of these concerns. The staff took the time to examine my insurance and ensure everything was covered under my specific plan. HAMDEN OFFICE - Dr. Harvey has been great in past visits and the other short male Dr was excellent recently. Kim was great and a great help with picking out a pair of glasses, Justin is a pretty fair manager with appointment scheduling and prices. Covid made it a little tough to make an appointment to pick out a pair of glasses, but was very happy in the end with visit and selection. But unfortunately this one secretary, a tall white women in her 30s, was very rude every time I spoke with her over the phone and from outside front door on 2-3 separate occasions I'd even have to say unprofessional. She Does NOT state her name, HUNG UP ON MY FACE 2-3 TIMES, Then when I went to pick up the pair of glass on a Friday around 4:05-4:10ish, after being hung up on 2x times prior, I called from front door said I was here to pick up glasses, she saw me, hid behind computer monitor, on phone for 3-4 more minutes while I waited outside due to Covid rules, till I had to call again, then made an "I'm on the phone gesture" to me from front desk to outside. I understand she was only one there working, but with no customers in waiting room area. My point, it would of took you 20 secs max to put caller on hold (like you do to me) and get up and get my glasses (very immature and unprofessional). Ultimately, if you would not of hung up on me 2x so rudely, I probably would not of included this in review, but since you did it multiple times to me I did. Most likely she's probably overwhelmed and/or miserable and probably should NOT be answering phones. Other than that 1 bad apple, good experience. read more
