As the business goes, good or bad, I am sure the consumer would have been contacted but still no…read morereply whatsoever to the email that I have sent asking for explanation on what happened when my son was there for what happened below. Still waiting. Posted the review yesterday and emailed a couple of times to the office, but no reply with an explanation of what happened. As the reviews posted by other patients, this has happened many times before and clearly, the charges aren't being disclosed upfront and if disclosed, not clearly. It is amazing to me that a business can continue to practice in this manner after repeated compaints.. My son just left their office for contact eye exam and was charged ridiculous fee of $500.00 and I was told that this is with "20%" off their regular price. I called office and talked to a lady named Kris who told me that is how much they charge and she told my son that "before" the exam which my son said he wasn't told until afterwards. Regardless, $500.00 for a routine contact eye exam? Am I the only one that thinks this is a highway robbery? My entire family has been wearing glasses and contact lens and have never seen anything like this. The only reason I went to this place was because of time sensitivily but wow.. Has anyone ever paid this much for a routine contact exam?

My eyes are changing and Dr. Ely gave me a sophisticated and thorough examination, and then explained--in details that I could understand--what is going on. I feel confident that I am in good hands.

Two front desk employees acknowledged that they received my vision insurance card. Rather than tell me before I arrived or even after I arrived, I was told after waiting to be seen by the Dr that they didn't take my insurance. I could have been notified before I took an hour off work and driving time that my insurance wasn't accepted. I asked why my paperwork wasn't reviewed when received and was told that they do review it. I don't have any time off to waste like this and finally got upset enough to write this review. They should have reviewed my paperwork before I arrived so I could cancel the appointment. It did seem, based on statements made, that I could pay 100% out of pocket. Why in the world would I do this if I have good vision insurance? Just be honest and let me know as soon as possible that they don't take my insurance.

She is great with explaining things (if you are the kind of patient who wants to know the details !). And she took the time to understand the needs of my "middle-aged" eyes with a complicated prescription. I started with a pair of computer glasses, and intend to go back for a pair of driving glasses. From Susanna, who fitted my new glasses, to the young lady behind the reception desk, all were professional, welcoming, and helpful.

Third chance I gave this business, foolish me I guess. Every year it's something. Last minutes…read morechanges, long waits, repeated and egregious lack of communication. This year I felt hopeful. Despite switching my appointment last minute (one hour notice) to a remote visit because of the doctor's illness, the customer service was very good. I specifically noted that I had not been notified my contacts were in the previous year and she promised to contact me. A month after my appointment, I check the website. It says my contacts are not in and to give them more time. Finally I call the office. They take a full 24 hours to get back to me to let me know they are in. I pick them up and the bag is dated as arriving one week after my appointment and lists "first patient notification" for the same day. Nope. And no apology or acknowledgment of this ridiculous oversight and poor service.

Go and find the book of Dr Bates and his method. By the way, My Eye Dr Laurel sent me this text message to instill fear in me and clients: "Did you know: of the estimated 93 million US adults at high risk for vision loss, only half visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months. Regular eye care can have a life-changing impact on preserving the vision of millions of people." These people and in the US healthcare system in general are driven by profit. Remember that: profit. They do not take my insurance (VSP), yet the total price with upgrades is less than at Pearl Vision where I had been going. The only thing less expensive was Costco and their selection is very limited and not of recent design in many cases. There are some others in Columbia, but most require use of their eye doctor and I kind of prefer the one that I go to. She's taken good care of us.

I had gotten my eyes checked elsewhere, but I had yet to find glasses and I didn't like the styles they offered at the optometrist. When I got inside, I noticed that there was hand sanitizer right up front and all the employees had gloves on as well. They did let me know right away that I was able to try on glasses and that the ones that I didn't like went into a sanitizing tray on each table so they can be properly sanitized before being placed back on the wall. I definitely liked the measures they took with ensuring everyone's safety amidst the pandemic! I ended up finding a pair of translucent glasses that I liked. They were priced for $95, so I was anticipating adding tax on and whatnot when I purchased them. But no! They were actually $95, including adding my prescription onto them! I opted to add the blue light protector (since I work in an office & spend 8 hours a day staring at a computer screen) and it was $50 more. I received my glasses in about 5 days later, and I went back for an adjustment (since the frames I got were a bit tight on my temples) and I ended up buying another pair, haha! Thank you, Warby Parker! I definitely enjoy my new glasses!

As a mother of four, the struggle is real when it comes to finding places that make you feel…read morecomfortable enough to trust that they will take care of your family. I have a daughter who has Strabismus (condition where your eyes cross without proper eyewear), so finding eyewear that allows her to feel confident and beautiful is always a challenge I dread every year. The lady who has taken care of us for years, moved away, so we had to find a new spot. We went to My Eye Dr in Columbia where we encountered a very friendly front desk. She then had Dr. Cathell who was just really sweet and made her feel at ease. Afterwards she met with Ms. Cyndie who helped her find the perfect eyewear that fit her style and level of teenage glam she wanted and was looking for. We will be going back.

I'm pretty turned off from chain Optometrists now after dealing with this one. Specifically Mr…read more Ebraheem. I feel like they rush your eye measurements, and then pressure you into picking "the one that looks best" after you're clearly struggling to see either options. Just trying to get to the next patient. Then when I had to do a reexamination after my new power was just awful, they wanted to charge me for trying to see another doctor instead of the same one. I explained why I would rather have someone else, but it "would not count as a reexamination." So I went with him.. they called me several times trying to "remind" me to come in early. I figured I was the last patient and they probably wanted me to get there early so they could wrap things up.. which already made me feel this would be rushed. Again. (They want you to come in 15 mins early, no matter what, but the the amount of "confirmation" calls I got, emphasizing it, was surprising). I arrived early and there I overheard the doctor checking to see if the last patient, me, arrived (this was 20 mins before my scheduled appointment). So my feelings were correct. Finally, the doctor saw me and when I explained he immediately became defensive, and basically blamed me for the wrong power. After I explained that my old (2 glasses ago) glasses are clearer than the power he gave, he left the room with my old glasses, came back and said "okay I have your new power." I asked what did he do, he said he's using my old glasses as the power because "if it works for you why bother change it?" No rechecking or retesting. Just giving up, giving me my old power and quickly rushing to leave. I'll just have to deal with it for now. But I will not be returning to MyEyeDr again, anywhere. I need to find a proper optometrist next time. If you need simple vision corrections, maybe this will work for you. But if you need someone who will spend time with you, to make sure you get as close to correct as possible, these guys are not the place to go to.
