But that seems to be the trend lately with a lot of practices. First of all, I have a large amount of respect for office staff. I believe they work hard to make the patient's experience a positive one. However, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, I wanted to report a phone problem to the office manager. I politely asked to see her. She never came out. Realizing she is a busy person, I asked that she call me -- which never happened. Here was the issue, which I thought to be significant. I had an eye issue which I thought needed to be addressed. I started calling about 1130 on Tuesday morning, September 1. The message on the phone said the voicemail was full and no one was picking up. I tried about 10 times -- so did my husband -- with the same message -- mailbox is full. Then I tried texting -- no response to my message. I tried online. Actually, my reason for the visit didn't fit any of the criteria listed. I tried for about three hours to get through. My husband tried. Finally, I just got in my car and drove over to the facility to make an appointment. (Wednesday -- there are no doctors in the office which I find rather unsettling). On my scheduled appointment, I thought the office manager should be aware of the situation I faced int rying to make an appointment -- however, as stated above, there was no communication between the two of us even though I respectfully asked. I thought it was important that they be aware of the issue. Again I have total respect for staff but I felt the phone issue was critical.

The staff was very cordial and promptly took me to the initial exam room where they examined my eyes with modern technology and an explanation of everything that was being done. Dr. Strong is highly detail oriented with a friendly demeanor. She listened to my description of what I have been noticing with my glasses over the last year and got me dialed into a new prescription. She and the frames specialist gave me some good advice on how to compare the frames with fit and fashion equally considered. I found this very helpful in navigating their wide variety of frames. I highly recommend Dr. Strong and the entire team at First Sight Vision Care for all of your optical needs.

Dr. Strong hadn't…read morementioned my eyes being "misaligned" during last year's exam (no prior eye drs had ever said that either) so I assumed it was in relation to my need for bifocals or progressives, which we discussed for the first time this year. She said I'd benefit from a special type of lens called Neurolens but it was not covered by insurance and costs about $1000! After the appointment, I wanted to learn more about the lens, as anyone would before they consider spending that much money on something. I became concerned when I saw "misalignment" means strabismus which is being cross-eyed. At this point my curiosity about a lens turned to worrying about what was going on with my eyes so I scheduled an appointment with a strabismus specialist. I went to the appointment prepared with a list of questions like what's causing my eyes to cross, is there anything that can be done to keep it from progressing, etc. The doctor examined my eyes and found no misalignment or other issues that would justify the use of Neurolens. This experience has been very frustrating. I can't help but feel this was a sales pitch to sell Neurolens.

In the past I have needed medical documents that have my vision information on them for my drivers license and I was able to get it faxed/emailed over to me right away over a single phone call. Apparently the Yelp info has not been updated. I was placed on hold for approx. 10 minutes. The page states that they indeed do sell ZEISS lenses. I posed this question to the person who answered. I was placed on hold again for several minutes, after having to repeat and spell ZEISS. She had never heard of that brand. After my second wait, I was told that they do not use ZEISS. I guess I'll go elsewhere.

I have always gotten my prescription glasses from Lenscrafters, and that says alot since I've been wearing glasses practically since I was 5... maybe even before! My appointments are always efficient and generally no wait time. My optometrist is very friendly, I have had two different optometrists since coming here. I have been with the current one for the last three years. There are three or four different eye doctors at this location and you have the choice to see whomever because they all do not come in on the same days. However I stick with the same doctor once I find one that I like. The receptionists do call and give you reminders for your appointment. Also, you can call in to order contact refills or they will have them mailed to you for an additional fee. Right after your eye exam, you can stroll into Lenscrafters and select or just browse through the great selection of frames. And should you decide to purchase a pair, you can do some quick shopping in the mall while you wait for your glasses, they usually take about 1 hour. You can't beat the convenience of this location.

My Maryland Vision Certification was filled out without an issue. I look forward to seeing Dr. Gidlund again in the near future.

I was told I should complete the patient form online and bring it to my appointment. This morning, on the day of my appointment, I received a text message an hour before my appointment instructing me to wait in my car when I arrived and to call the office. Erika answered my call and said I could come in and to knock when I was at the office. She brought me back to do the initial intake and and the pre-exam tests. I have major anxiety when it comes to the air puff test for glaucoma. She was patient as I had a hard time keeping my eyes open as I always blink like crazy. I asked if it was ok if I lifted my lids to keep them open. That seemed to work. At one point, I actually let out a faint scream because I was startled. Once we were done with the pre-exam she brought me to a room to wait for Dr. Vicky Wong. Dr. Wong was very thorough in explaining what she was doing during the exam, the test results, and with her recommendation since I mentioned that my eyes have been irritated and dry. She suggested that I look away from my monitor during the workday every 30 minutes and to blink. She also gave me a prescription for Xiidra eye drops to use for six months which should help to produce real tears. I was offered a sample and discount card. Note: Allied Pharmacy is conveniently located on the same floor of the building. I had to schedule another appointment to come back to have my pupils dilated to finish the eye exam as I wouldn't be able to see very well for two hours afterwards and I had to go into the office today. When we were done, Kim Barnhouse, the Office Manager, assisted with the payment and scheduling my next appointment. When I got home, I noticed that my state of residency on my receipt and prescription reflected MA and not MD, so I immediately called the office and Kim corrected them both, had the prescription encrypted, and emailed both files to me. If I had any issues with receiving them, she offered to fax or mail them. Sharon Pollack assisted with adjusting a pair of sunglasses I have as the frame had gotten loose. She suggested if I leave them in the car that I shouldn't because they can get warped. She said I could come back any time to have them tightened. I can't say enough good things about the staff in the office. They are an all-star team and the epitome of customer service. I have never experienced this level of service before from ALL the office staff. Everyone is professional, personable, and helpful. I am certainly going to recommend them to anyone who asks. This will be my long-term optometry office from this point forward.
