Red Mountain Eye Care - A friendly neighborhood Optometry practice in Homewood, AL for 20 plus years!

I haven't submitted a review in a while, but Red Mountain Eye Care deserves some love!…read more I've had an ongoing stye for the last few months that turned into a full blown infections a few weeks back. I couldn't get it to see my regular optimist so I called them for a last minute appointment. Not only did the receptionist put me at ease, but the doctor provided tons of feedback, solutions, and prescribed a regime that cleared it right up. A few weeks later my boyfriend and I returned for an eye exam. My boyfriend is legally blind and has trouble with optometrists in the past, but he loved Red Mountain Eye Care. They were friendly, easy-going, and really listened to the problems he was having with his vision. I would highly recommend this great practice!

I cannot recommend Dr. Gagnon and his staff enough! Not only did they explain the ranges of why my…read moreinsurance would cover and what I would be responsible for, they also never tried to talk me into the "high-end" of anything from the lenses to the frames. There was no pressure to buy anything from them at all. The prices of their frames are a fraction of what I was used to at my former eye care facility and I was truly impressed by everyone I worked with. Dr. Gagnon performed a thorough exam and helped me to understand the changes my eyes have gone through and helped determine the perfect prescription for me. I will definitely be going back and recommending Red Mountain Eye Care to everyone I know!

The past two years I've gone to this location for my eye exam, but after this past week's visit, I…read morewill not be going again. The office REEKED of marijuana. Really bad. Not sure if it was from an employee or a patient, but it was so much it was permeating the entire back part of the office. I had seen the doctor, and I was sitting in the back waiting for my eyes to dilate. My eyes were already sensitive from the dilation, and then the employee came through spraying febreeze in the air to remove the smell of marijuana, which irritated my eyes even more! I couldn't believe it. I was cleared to leave after 20 more minutes. I was asked if I wanted to look at glasses, but I couldn't stand to be in the office anymore. I'll go elsewhere to purchase glasses, and will go somewhere else for my exam next year.

Have been in this location with a friend for a few times to help them select frames. I had time…read morebefore another appointment so I ran in to pick out frames for myself. I was greeted after a few minutes and told they would be with me soon. No problems, I took a seat and surfed the web while I waited. My reminder alarmed went off reminding me of my pending appointment. For some reasons a business conversation had turned into wedding plans conversation while I waited. When I stood up and headed towards the exit all of a sudden they wanted to treat me like a paying customer. Oh no thank you, this isn't a place I'm willing to spend my money. There was more than one employee that could have displayed professional behavior but choice to ignore me. My friend loves this place. Me? I will never darken their doorsteps again.

I began my journey with AL Vision Ctr in 2003. I'd worn glasses since I was 12 yrs old and hated…read moreevery minute of it. I had was extremely near sighted with severe astigmatism and the only contacts available to me were the hard lenses and they were difficult to wear. I did manage to wear it in one eye for distance and could see up close with the other eye. I'd never heard of LASIK surgery until a friend told me she had just had it and threw away her glasses. Dr Kloess had performed LASIK on one of her eyes, leaving the other for close work and with her recommendation I made an appt. Dr Kloess did the procedure on one eye and left the other for close work as I'd already gotten used to seeing this way for some time. Over the years I developed cataracts and again went to Dr Kloess for surgery on one eye. He gave me lens for close work because I could still see distance in the other eye where he'd performed the LASIK. Two years later I needed cataract surgery on my distance eye which was done a week ago. I have 20/20 vision in that eye and with the other eye I can read the tiniest line on the chart with no readers. To say I'm pleased with the care I've been given by Dr Kloess and his staff is an understatement! I highly recommend this practice to anyone who wishes to put their eye care in the hands of the most capable practice in AL. Icing on the Cake: They're very nice, friendly and caring too! I'm 78 yrs old and that matters to me very much.

After over six weeks of antibiotics that didn't help being given a transplant makes no sense to me. And then being discharged with only more antibiotics, with nothing to help with pain is crazy. How can anyone expect a person to have surgery and not be in significant pain?
