I highly recommend in seeing Dr. Song - she is extremely nice, professional, and thorough - at no time did we feel that we were being rushed, as Dr. Song took her time to provide clear information and answered all our questions. The staff, from the reception to the fitting, have been personable and very helpful! I just wished they had more higher-end designer brands and a larger selection. Either way, we were still able to find frames that we liked, and communication was great in terms of when our item(s) were ready. After the MyEyeDr branch on King Street left me in the lurch, Scott and Cheryl swooped in to save the day! The branch on King Street couldn't (or didn't want to) read my prescription from my ophthalmologist. I called the Duke Street location who said that they were happy to help. I was super flustered from my encounter at the other store, and the folks at the Duke Street location couldn't have been nicer. They were super attentive, and their optometrist helped with the transcription issue. I ordered a beautiful pair of glasses and will be back every year to order new glasses or contact lenses with this branch. She stated "no but we moved your appointment to the side and the doctor is now completely booked." Three sets of glasses in succession and none of them were the right prescription. Of course, they blame the lab, but when the lenses came in, they were clearly wrong. How do you accept single-vision lenses when the script was for progressive trifocals? Their communications are awful. The phone system is a joke as it continually tries to get you to use the website (that requires a text back through your cell). Promises that glasses would be ready by a certain date come and go, phone calls finally reveal that the glasses are in, and only later do you receive a text indicating that the glasses have been received. Being cheerful and friendly doesn't correct my vision. read more

My advice is to AVOID the Alexandria Old Town branch in N St Asaph Street at all costs. I was uncomfortable with the quality of the eye exam but said nothing, and when my reading glasses arrived for pick-up they were unfocused and useless. When I went back, the woman who helped me at the reception desk was unprofessional, rude and tried her absolute best to be as unhelpful as she could before simply ignoring me (I noticed I am not the only customer complaining about this - maybe someone should look into it, yes???) The worst customer service possible. I made an appointment for an eye exam because I lost my readers. My insurance offers one exam per year, one pair of glasses every other year. My prescription from 2023 was not available online, hence the need for the appointment. I received a call from the King Street location after booking online. The gentleman proceeded to tell me (sic) "Yeah so your insurance doesn't cover glasses until January so you should probably reschedule for then. That's what most people do because it makes sense." I was appalled. Is this dude seriously calling me to condescend/chide me without even asking me a question? Is interrogation before the exam a part of pre-screening now? The most offensive to me is that he misread my insurance and disregarded the appointment for exam only. I matched his tone, corrected him and said if my script was still online I would not have to come in at all. He said "okay fine. See you tomorrow." An hour later, he called back to say, "I called the doctor because you sounded really angry before and she's graciously going to allow you to get your script online so you don't have to bother coming in." This office took my insurance, looked up my information and found an "insurance savings benefit" from years ago that I no longer have and ran that through before I got to the office for an appointment. I called prior to my appointment to make sure that they would take my ACTUAL insurance. I provided them w/ my information and now they're saying they do not recall me ever calling in. They blame their "portal" on not getting the right insurance that was entered. Now they're stating that I owe a balance because my insurance is "bouncing". Well of course it's going to bounce if it's not even an insurance plan that I have. On top of that, all of their employees are telling me different information. One employee claimed that the office was going to take care of the bill because it was an error on their end. Now another employee is saying that they're not because they found a different insurance benefit that they "claimed" went through on their end but is now bouncing. I will be going forward w/ this. Supposedly the manager is going to be calling me for more information, but that may be a lie too. We will see. Be careful with this office. Before you go, please call in and make sure they look up your insurance correctly. They might find something else under your name and go with that one instead. read more

Went in to look for glasses and there was one guy working the entire sales area bouncing back & forth between me and a lady. Finally was able to get the order in and told it would be ready 2 weeks later. 2 weeks comes and goes...nothing, so I call and get put on hold for 10 minutes...hang up and call back and tell them not to put me on hold. They told me nothing yet but they were expecting a box in the next day (Sat.), so call back then. I call back the next day and get put on hold for 10 min again, hang up and call back. Now I'm told to call back on Monday and they should be in for sure. I call back Monday and go through the long hold, hang up, call back process again. Now Chris the manager tells me the order was never processed and he swears he going to fix this for me as fast as possible. I fall for it. So I called back 5 days later to see what's going on with the order....same process of long wait time, hang up, call back and stop them before being put on hold again. I get Chris the manager again. This time, there are frames....but they have no lenses...the order wasn't put in properly but he said he was going to fix it faster by not going through insurance....which makes no sense....I gave all my insurance info when I bought them and they haven't processed the order...not sure what the f**k he's talking about. Still no glasses and they don't reach out to you with info; you need to call them and wait and wait and wait. Worst customer service and still no glasses. Will update as the process continues. **Update: Chris the manager told me he was going to call me on Monday, 3/11 with an update no matter what. Guess what.....no call on Monday and no call on Tuesday. I called there and take a guess what happened.....put on hold for 10 minutes, so I hang up and call back and get Chris the manager. He swears that THIS time he's going to fix it. Now he's saying I'll have my glasses on 3/18, but on my account on line, it says 3/28. I have been a loyal My Eye Dr customer for roughly 5 years and have spent hundreds, if not a couple thousand at a time each year. I have 3 pairs of glasses and daily contacts lenses that are all prescription, just to give you an idea of what I spend each visit. The staff at most locations are usually professional, and knowledgeable, with decent "bed side manner." Unfortunately, this location and staff has just forced me to end my loyalty and My Eye Dr has lost my business indefinitely. If you check my review history, I do not give poor ratings frequently, if ever. So this review is not just to leave a bad review just because I'm upset, it's truly because I feel my situation was poorly handled. I started visiting this location (Duke St) in 2016 because it we more accessible to my work and I liked the ample parking. I made my annual exam appointment for today at 4pm and came in early to make sure that they had my updated insurance information as it had changed since my last visit. I wasn't greeted with a hello or any welcoming salutation as the others were as they walked in, but rather a pretentious "Do you have an appointment?" I wasn't dressed to the 9's, it's my day off, and I didn't think jeans and a t-shirt would make me any less of a paying customer. As if they really had any reason to act that way, it's an optometrist chain location for god-sake. Dismissing the pretentious attitude, I go to the front desk and although the receptionist was nicer, after confirming my appointment time, and letting her know I needed to make sure that my insurance info was updated she continued to say that they had already called and that I was only covered for a basic eye exam. I asked her to check that the member number and insurance card was correct to what they had, and she said yes. At this point 2 other representatives had come over to take a look at the information on the computer and they all insisted that was all that was covered under my plan. They went on to list all the things that wasn't covered. I knew they were wrong because every time our insurance changes (husband is a contractor so it changes once a year), we get the better plan option to suit my needs. All the while, that these 3 representatives are standing there staring at a computer screen making no progress nor trying to really remedy the situation, I call my husband to confirm our plan with his HR and Cigna Rep which was taking time, and since no one at My Eye Dr was willing to call to verify or look into the conflict of information, I told My Eye Dr to go ahead and cancel the appointment. Within a few minutes of leaving My Eye Dr, I get a call from my husband's HR with a Cigna Representative on the line, verifying I am covered for more and I have attached pictures of the documents they sent over to me showing what I am covered for which totally is the opposite of what My Eye Dr had "on file." If they had just taken the time to call Cigna to verify they would have been able to keep my business, pretentiousness excluded. I'm sorry, but after this whole experience it seems to me that this location was totally trying to rip me off. How disgustingly sad as I have been a loyal customer for a good number of years. When we asked how is that possible if the appointment was recently made the manager said that they confirm two days before the actual date. Their excuse was that the phone was off. Singly the BEST eyeglasses experience of my life. Ahmad and Chris were stellar. I broke my 13 year old glass frames (new lenses several times, I promise!) around noon on a Saturday. My work was to have me on travel for the next week solid and I desperately needed to get new ones ordered AND my old ones fixed. I'm mechanically inclined but the nose pads were cracked and they were a style I hadn't ever seen before (press in without screws). I hesitantly scheduled an exam at 5 PM on a Saturday across town. The doctor's assistant was fantastic, she was so friendly and knowledgeable. The doctor was as good or better than any high-dollar exam I have ever had. The real magic was out in the front of the house though. Ahmad and Chris were working a busy house full of customers. Both were so kind, so caring and so patient with an older group of grumpy clients. It was evident they both care about their customers and took the time to help each of them. Finally it was our turn. It was after closing time but instead of rushing to get out on a Saturday night, they fixed my broken nose pad, educated me on lenses and ordered my next pair of glasses with transition lenses. Instead of hobbling something together, I was on travel all week with FIXED glasses and the promise of a good pair to come. I will be writing a letter to their manager as well, this was stellar service. While I know nothing about the company, I do know I will go back and it is because of these two extraordinary young men. Very concerning. The place does NOT take temp checks or ask questions about illness. They stack people in a small wait room. One guy there was on the phone telling others he was sick!!!! We went into the same exam room as the sick guy and the Dr didn't clean the equipment and then kept asking to remove our masks during the exam. Went to this location -Duke St. and had a horrible experience. Before starting any exam I asked the worker if she can go over pricing and what my insurance will cover. She lets me know my glasses and contact exams are covered under my insurance. So I proceed to get a contacts exam as well. Went into the exam room with Dr. Rose Guerrero and she was super kind and friendly throughout the exam. I get handed off to the sales rep, and this is where it took a turn. I also noticed the Dr was holding onto the sales reps hand while she was talking to him. It seemed really weird in a work environment. Anywho, the sales rep explains to me the cost of today's visit with 3 month supply of contacts. The contacts exam was not covered under my insurance and I let him know that I asked about this prior and the price was not disclosed with me because it was out of my budget and I would have not moved forward with the contacts exam if I would have known that prior. He was not comprehending what I was saying. He kept pushing for me to understand him, no customer service whatsoever. Then another worker comes in and offers to remove the contacts exam off of my file in return for the sample box I got (which is fine) and the contacts in my eyeballs... which I said fine. As I'm waiting, Dr. rose comes to me and extends her hand and demands the sample boxes back "give me the contacts" and points at the sink and says "remove the contacts from your eyes over there." Her approach was VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and ghetto. It was a very belittling and degrading experience, as if I had stole something from the office. Her whole attitude changed on me. I cannot believe they wanted me to take off the contacts from my eyes and throw them away. I cannot believe all this happened from a doctors office where people with higher education are supposed to handle situations in a respectful and professional manner. They could have offered a discount or even apologized for the inconvenience and I would have been fine. No one here handled or did their job correctly, starting with the First Lady who did not disclose theses prices when I asked. I was also blamed by the Dr that I should have known of theses prices. If I could give a zero star review,I would!! Initially, I had a decent experience. The receptionist was very thorough on the phone and even when I got there. Explained prices and reviewed what to expect. I see the doctor for my eye exam. After my eye exam I was asked about contacts. I haven't been to the eye doctor in years so didn't know (nor was I told) the contact exam was an additional amount. I didn't find out until I was paying the bill that I was charged an additional amount. After my eye exam I was brought up front to discuss lenses and amounts for the contact lenses. I explained that I would come back to pick out my frames. They went over the lenses I would need and the different types. When she said my total was $1010 , I asked how that all added up. She (Maria or Marie) never said there was a charge for a contact exam, nor a charge for the eye glass warranty. AFter paying, I left and went home and looked at my bill and saw that I was overcharged. About a week later, I went in to pick out frames. I told the lady up front that I was disappointed about not knowing the contact charge and also about the eye glass warranty. Her response "it's only $25 for the warranty and it's good for blah blah blah." You don't just assume someone wants to pay that. I then said I wanted to discuss my contact price. Now here comes Marie. She said so basically you want a refund for your contact exam and return your contacts. I said "Correct." She rolled her eyes and advised me only her manager could approve that and she stormed off to ask her manager. Her manager, Luis, comes and I again explain my frustration. Meanwhile, Marie is slamming stuff around and he advised me and my friend (who I brought with me since she used to work in an eye drs office). Luis apologized for Marie's behavior and told us he would be handling it forward. He credits my contacts back but states he cannot do the contact exam because my insurance already paid for it. I picked out my frames and left. I return after lunch and he advises they will be ready tomorrow as he had to get insurance prices. During this time, Marie(a) takes my frames and slams them in the drawer and walks off. When I returned the next day to pick up my frames, I was told by Luis that he had to order another pair because mine were damaged. Not surprised since Marie(a) threw them in the drawer. By now I'm pretty upset so I leave and call corporate. Let them know about my experience and was advised I would be a return call within 48 hours. Three days later, no call. I called again to corporate to complain. I also called my insurance company and was informed they NEVER PAID for my contact exam. They don't cover that. So I was lied to about that and now I'm really pissed. I finally talked to Nate, general manager, over 2 weeks after my initial appt and requested a full refund to take my business elsewhere!!! When I went in, the receptionist whispered about me complaining. After Nate apologized again for Marie(a) behavior...I advised him all of it was poor customer service! From her, to the added charges, the lies about why they didn't reimburse my contact exam, to the receptionist whispering about me complaining. I will never visit another my eye dr! Dr. Kouchak was fabulous. He was mellow, caring, and meticulous. I appreciated that he took the exam and my health seriously and answered all of my questions. All of the Duke Street staff were uplifting, efficient, and helpful. I learned that this location recently changed all staff (kept the same docs) and it is a 100% fantastic improvement. Emily worked with me on processing my prescription and payment and she was super. I walk away feeling confident that everything was done right and with an uplifting feeling. I had my exam here and I walked out very happy with the care I received. Dr. Kouchak is a caring and professional. He does a thorough exam and takes his time to explain everything to his patients and answers questions in detail. Dr. Kouchak brings knowledge and experience to the table and I trust his judgement and care. He genuinely cares about his patients and that's evident in his interaction with patients. I have been Dr. Kouchak's patient for a long time and bring both of my daughters to see him for their eye exams because he provides excellent patient care. As healthcare workers, my husband and I both trust Dr. Kouchak because he strives to provide excellent patient care every time. I 100% recommend his expertise, experience and compassionate care. I have TERRIBLE eyesight.... so when i moved to the area last summer I knew I need to find an eye doctor quick. I live in the Foxchase Apt. in Alexandria and this location is in the new 'Shoppes at Foxchase' (while very convenient, don't let the fancy 'e' at the end of 'shoppes' scare you.... its not that yuppy). This place was good.... not great. The people were friendly and pretty helpful. They have a lot of stuff on their website about Federal Gov insurance plans which is nice for a lot of us. The prices are pretty normal I think... although... if you order contacts from them know that they will price match anything you find online at like 1800contacts or something, but this isn't something they advertise obviously. But I found out when I told them I was getting contacts through someone else. As long as you have the website and the quoted price, they'll look it up and use that price. (They were going to charge me $90 and I found the boxes online for $50!) And I got them in 3 days! The doctors are nice, the place is very light and clean and they have a lot of fun new frames to choose from. Overall I think its a great place to go, especially if there is one close by. read more

I have had to return three time to get my glasses corrected. I went in I explained to them I cannot see up close. They assured me they would help me get the glasses and prescription I needed. Well I did get $539.61 bill but my glasses hasn't been exactly what I needed. I couldn't see out of my glasses I was very disappointed. Now I have to wait to get another pair and fix my prescription because so much has taken place with my first pair. This is ridiculous!!! I was told I would be receiving any refunds back on a cheaper pair of glasses. I came home found my receipt and will be heading back to inquire as to why don't I receive any refunds back for a cheaper pair of glasses and they fix the BUG mistake that they made. read more

The doctor who saw me was friendly and informative. He even explained a little bit of the physics of eye function to explain why I was seeing what I was seeing. Outstanding "bedside manners" (although there is not bed here, of course). Their staff was also pretty helpful and even let me see the prices of what I was ordering on their screen. They went the extra mile and applied a discount that was not even required or warranted based on my insurance plan. They really wanted my business. The only reason they do not get 5 stars is because their selection of frames could improve, and they did not have an on-site lab to cut the lenses. That means that I had to wait a few days before my glasses would be ready. No big deal if you're not in a rush, but I was in a rush ;-) The above limitations are reasonable since their site is in an urban setting and they do not have a ton of space to store frames and host a lab. Overall, I'm a fan of this place and will keep going back when I need to check my vision or order new contact lenses. For actual frames, I may shop somewhere else. read more

Go here if you want to spend 3 times as much for mediocre glasses and sunglasses. They lied to me about the quality of lenses that i was getting. They told me that i was getting the thinnest lightest lense but when i went to pick them up they were not and the man that puts the glasses together even admitted that to me. I noticed on pickup day that my sunglass lenses were chipped, so they sent them back to get redone. I had to wait an additional 2 weeks to get them back. Their frames are extremely over priced and not that great. I would recommend getting your vision test and eye check done there than going to costco for your frames and lenses.
