The yuca fries were crunchy and came with a tasty sauce. The sauces they gave us from spicy to smoky to creamy were all great. The machin - bone marrow taco was AMAZING. The takes juan to know juan was also really delicious, especially the sauce to pair it with. Lastly, the esquites with the barbecue pork nachos were a cherry on top. Would love to try this place in person one of these days.

We ordered: Borracho Tacos (fish) $22 Esquites Gratinee (corn) $10 Truffle Ribeye Burrito $27 Black Chili Crunch Guacamole $14 The borracho tacos aka fish tacos were very small and disappointing. They are very overpriced for what we received. One small piece of fish per little taco shell. Flavor was ok. Are they worth $22? Absolutely not. We will not be reordering these. The Esquites Gratinee corn side dish was bigger than the guacamole portion and flavorful per my boyfriend. I don't eat corn so I didn't have any. My boyfriend really liked it. Said it's unique and 10/10. He would get this again. The truffle ribeye burrito is delicious. Though I didn't get any truffle flavor? If it was there, it's minimal. I didn't taste it at all. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and it's a good portion of meat. Tender and flavorful. No chewiness. Sauce on top is amazing. Rice and beans cooked perfect. Would order this again. It's worth it. Even without truffle flavor. Great portion size too. The black chili crunch guacamole is the star of the show. While it's a small portion, it's very flavorful. Love the garlic. Love the crunch. Fresh avocados. This is worth it. We would definitely order it again. Highly recommend the guac. Small but mighty haha.

Since my previous mediocre review in 2007, I had been to East LA one other time, in addition to my…read morerecent visit. That occasion had been a few years ago and had involved an insanely strong margarita, an experience that I would not want to relive. However, my friend suggested grabbing dinner there recently, and since it was a nice evening and their outdoor dining was right on the main thoroughfare of Washington Street, I agreed to at least go to enjoy their excellent people watching. I certainly vowed to skip the cocktails, but was willing to give their food another chance. We started with crisp, lightly-salty tortilla chips and a rich, bold salsa. I then ordered Vegetable Fajitas, which included green and red bell peppers, zucchini, and onions. The peppers had been sliced so thin that they were barely noticeable and made hardly any flavor impact. The sizzling platter was also about 85% onions, of which I was not a fan, so I sent back most of them in the end. The whole thing was also rather greasy. The flour tortillas were delicious and not artificial tasting like most. The DIY platter was also served with a side plate of refreshing sour cream, well-seasoned guacamole, sliced jalapenos, and fresh pico de gallo. I wished the portions of these condiments were larger, though, and the guacamole, in particular. The staff was so friendly, allowing us to linger at the table after we paid and even refilling our water during that time. They all provided service with a smile, which also helped ease any frustration a diner might have about the fact that they apply an automatic tip of 20% to the check for any party size. While I still had a decent experience at East LA, it was much better than I had remembered, and I would be willing to return.

Our…read morevisit today was subpar and we realized when the manager Andrea is not present, the food and drinks are lacking. This was the second visit where the horchata was mildly sour and watered down -- not the usual sweet and yummy horchata it's supposed to be. My husband mentioned this to one of the male employees and the employee said "that's normal because they make it fresh everyday" --it definitely did not taste fresh. The guava basil was a great alternative. The nachos were tasty but we all agreed the chips were a bit oily this time, and lacking in volume as well; we always have left over chips after finishing our meals but this time we didn't. My al pastor & brussel sprouts tacos were room temp -- not fresh and hot as usual. My husband said his carne asada burrito had big chunks of meats being the meat was poorly cut and was also room temperature. It's as if they batch cooked everything to prep it as it was ordered...it may be faster but quality goes down immensely. What usually takes about 45 min from ordering, waiting for FRESH food, and eating, our visit was literally 15 minutes. We ordered, waited about 5 min for the food (not normal) & ate all in 15 min. While that may be great for someone people in a rush, we certainly weren't and were expecting fresher food and drinks. There was great friendly service from a woman with beautiful short coily curly hair which was a plus!

It's an also an opportunity to thank Tacoria for the "small" nachos, currently $10 and not small. When I discovered the JC branch circa 2020 Uber delivery, it was definitely one of the cheapest non-pizza options in coastal NJ. The golden avocado is perhaps the best of the main ingredients but multiple versions benefit from the escabeche peppers. (I will confess that I have ordered different things partly for the sake of having non-duplicate Yelp photo ops). You'll also enjoy the hot sauces and guava basil beverage.

We unfortunately did have an issue with one of the original meals (the ropa vieja), and the server was quick to switch the meal for another and help us with this. Place is cute but crowded inside, so we opted to sit outside. Very cute seating with shade on the side tables. Prices were moderate for the food, nothing to complain about. Parking in the area is hard. It's an overpopulated town with street parking that is always full. If you do find street parking, walk down the whole block and read signs, they have odd street cleaning hours and signs are typically posted at the beginning of the street so you could miss it. We started with Guacamole and Chips (generous guac portion) and Lomo Fries with steak. Both were true crowd pleasers. We shared a bunch of entrees. On the other hand, the ribeye seemed a bit underdone--more cool red than warm pink. But the meat quality was great and it also got eaten up quickly. The desserts were also great. Don't let this 3 star review turn you away!…read more Hoboken Burrito serves giant portions with fresh ingredients and a smile. The outside has always made me walk past, but I finally decided to try it tonight as I've gotten sick of Chipotle. Plus it's always a good feeling to support our local businesses. While I wouldn't call this spot a "hidden gem" of Hoboken by any stretch, I did thoroughly enjoy my burrito. I got a regular grilled chicken burrito and everything that came with it. Upon my first bite it was apparent that the chicken was more like hibachi chicken than grilled chicken (not a complaint but not what was advertised). If you try it you'll know exactly what I mean. No complaints about anything else. They could have made more of an effort in evenly distributing the contents of the burrito but thats just me being picky. If it means anything to whoever may be reading this...the burrito felt like it weighed 5 pounds and I found myself eating the entire thing. So why 3/5 stars? This burrito cost me $16! While the ingredients were fresh and the portion was huge, it's hard to justify one burrito at almost 20 bucks. Complain about Chipotle's portions all u want, but my bowl there only costs me like $12. I'd definitely go back again at some point, but it just didn't taste good ENOUGH to justify the price tag. Tacoria has a better burrito (imo) and is a few bucks cheaper. Still, worth a try for sure.
