Don't let this 3 star review turn you away! Hoboken Burrito serves giant portions with fresh ingredients and a smile. The outside has always made me walk past, but I finally decided to try it tonight as I've gotten sick of Chipotle. Plus it's always a good feeling to support our local businesses. While I wouldn't call this spot a "hidden gem" of Hoboken by any stretch, I did thoroughly enjoy my burrito. I got a regular grilled chicken burrito and everything that came with it. Upon my first bite it was apparent that the chicken was more like hibachi chicken than grilled chicken (not a complaint but not what was advertised). If you try it you'll know exactly what I mean. No complaints about anything else. They could have made more of an effort in evenly distributing the contents of the burrito but thats just me being picky. If it means anything to whoever may be reading this...the burrito felt like it weighed 5 pounds and I found myself eating the entire thing. So why 3/5 stars? This burrito cost me $16! While the ingredients were fresh and the portion was huge, it's hard to justify one burrito at almost 20 bucks. Complain about Chipotle's portions all u want, but my bowl there only costs me like $12. I'd definitely go back again at some point, but it just didn't taste good ENOUGH to justify the price tag. I have been a customer of this place ever since it opened and was called "Mission Burrito." And, I live in HOBOKEN. While the food has remained good, I have noticed some not-great things lately: (1) Can no longer place TELEPHONE orders!! If you call, you get a robo person who sends you round and round...and you never get to talk to a human; (2) the actual DELIVERY TIME when using the restaurant's on-line app--or via your desktop is VERY VERY VERY SLOW!! I ordered my food at 6:30...and now it is 8 p.m. and still have not received the food, a message, or anything. I HATE being forced to order on line--TERRIBLE service in this regard. I could be poisoned by chicken if it is sitting out..(3) the prices have SHOT WAY up--faster than inflation The tiny single taco used to be $3...Now it is almost 6 dollar with tax. The delivery guys, when they DO show up, a super nice. I always tip them well... HATE the on-line ordering--being forced into it. I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday after hitting up a Bark In The Park at the park nearby. For $15, I got a burrito the size of a big infant and a small burrito bowl both accompanied with a soda for the lunch deal special. The place is super bare bones and it seems that this is an Asian owned place, yet the food wasn't horrible. They were cooking up that steak right there and then for the burrito which is always a good thing. The Cali bowl was small, smothered and cheese and the $2 I added for guac was pointless. The guac was about the size of a tablespoon. It could have used a gallon of hot sauce. My sentiments were echoed by Sheila A with her burrito, but I mean that burrito was 3 meals easily. Nothing to write home about, but the food wasn't bad necessarily, it just needed a truck load of delicious hot sauce. Overall, I wouldn't run to Hoboken burrito, but if you're in the mood for a coma inducing burrito where you douse every bite with hot sauce to bring out the flavor (which hey, sometimes in my heyday I used to be open to), this is the place. This is my go to place for burritos in Hoboken. My favorite burrito from them is their Chicken Mole burrito. It's good and always has more than enough mole sauce. The rice, beans, and small salad completes the meal. Also comes with homemade pico de gallo on the side. Never disappoints. read more

Food is DELISH. Not a fancy place to say the least, but the chow is cheap and yummy. Gave it a try, and it served its purpose at the time. I ordered the steak burrito, and was happy that the pieces of steak were cooked to order. It only took a few minutes to make my burrito, which was a decent size. But it was really nothing special, very plain and not much flavor. The sides that it came with were pretty uneventful too. I wouldn't exactly call it "Mexican" food, though the fact that they have bottles of Jarritos soda in the fridge was a nice touch. I was really craving fish tacos - I decided to give it a shot. $10 for two fairly large fish tacos. The place looks run down, definitely not a place I was going to sit down to eat.. but I gave them a chance. You never know!! I have only tried a few things on the menu but I will say that you can't go wrong with the Bay burrito, the Cali chili bowl, and the Verde Enchilada. The staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the delivery is quick. I ordered from them this week around 5 p.m. and it was delivered in 18 minutes!
