I had a wonderful experience with Shannon! She was professional, knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire lymphatic massage. She took the time to explain the process and was attentive to my needs. I left feeling lighter, refreshed, and noticeably less tense. I highly recommend Shannon to anyone looking for a relaxing and effective lymphatic massage! read more

I had an excellent massage with Shannon today! She was professional, attentive, and clearly very skilled. She listened to my needs and focused on the areas that needed the most work. I left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and noticeably better. Highly recommend and will definitely be back! Thank you Shannon! read more

Had my first visit last Saturday. Charles was great. Very professional. I even fell asleep the massage was what I needed and my foot is doing better already. Got a few more sessions left. Thank you! read more

Excellent. Knowledge of body work is exceptional. Only way I've been able to keep my body working. Been going for several years.

Charles is a wonderful massage therapist. You can tell immediately how much he truly enjoys and is fascinated by his craft, and his recommendations are genuine and thoughtful. I especially appreciate that he is willing to answer lots of questions. read more

I have been to many neuromuscular massage therapists for various muscle aches. Chris is one of the best. I told him where my hip pain was and he knew exactly what muscles, fascia, and tendons to work on to fix my hip pain. I highly recommend him. Very professional and knowledgeable. read more

Charles was attentive to my problem areas from sitting on a desk all day and gave me some tips to keep in mind while I'm sitting all day to help keep my muscles from cramping up and getting tight again. He offers a special discount for new customers and re-occurring customers. He is also very good at feeling for the spots in your back that don't feel right and fixing them up. Most massages I get have not focused so much on that and I really appreciate the unique techniques he used on me. The only reason I am docking a star is because when I was messaging him to set up an appointment he changed the time on me without asking if I would be able to make the new time. It wasn't a big deal this time, but I'm glad I didn't plan to go to the cubs game that afternoon like I was thinking I might or I would have missed it. read more

I have been having lymphatic massage for awhile due to several health conditions. Those previous practitioners were good but Lake View and Bodywork takes the technique to a whole new level. Finding them has literally been life changing for me. Idania is absolutely amazing. One - two sessions with her and I not only dropped nearly a dress size but put all forms of physical therapy on hold as she was able to do with her massage techniques others could not with traditional PT sessions. FYI these treatments were orders from my doctors and they are amazed at my progress. Idania zeroed in on exactly what I needed and used the right tools and techniques for individual areas. Severe Covid among other issues) really took a toll and her expertise in knowing how to treat a complex patient was astounding and the results almost immediate. Also the she and the whole staff are so genuinely caring and very kind. and the business is run very professionally. I have not only realised great physical improvement but wonderful emotional nurturing. I cannot recommend it enough. Also the prices are comparatively reasonable but I would pay much more for that level of knowledge and expertise. Thank you Idania and the entire staff - all of whom are beyond excellent. read more

Charles Wiley, without question, is the best massage therapist in the city. He has cured numerous muscle problems, TMJ, and my chronic knot in my shoulder. It is as though he has an eyes in his finger tips. He is the best . read more

Amazing - Arista is the best!! She knows where to target & how to relax tight muscles.

Charles has a soothing yet powerful touch. As a licensed massage therapist myself, I find myself taking notes while getting worked on, but with Charles my body managed to relax and I dozed off a couple of times. He has a unique style that encompasses a variety of modalities, and after some initial observations he was able to find the perfect style that my body needed on this very day. My pain as well as stress has melted off in a quick hour. Thank you Charles, you have a kindred spirit and it shows in your work. Go check him out and thank me later! read more

Very impressed with this establishment...clean, friendly and well informative. Had pain in my upper right back and lower left back. After leaving I was pain free. Definitely will be back and I highly recommend Lake View Bodywork and Lymphatic Massage. read more

Nearly cried tears of joy as I got off Charles's table. I came in with knots and tension starting at the nape of my neck and down to my shoulder blades; I couldn't look up past like 60 degrees & my side-to side mobility was slightly limited and (at times) painful. Charles told me we could focus on those areas. As I lifted myself off the table, my gaze hit the ceiling (insert tears of joy here) and I felt amazing. I have always been drawn to his positive energy, so when I needed to get myself fixed up, it was a 'no brainer'. I just booked on his site (it was super easy.) Can't wait for the next one! read more

Charles is extremely professional and a fantastic massage therapist. His shiatsu style technique helps get rid of all of my knots and tension in my upper back and shoulders. In addition, booking an appointment is extremely easy. I've had 2 massages so far and am very happy that I was able to find him! read more

Charles is the best. Not just the best at massage (he's actually a structural therapist, not a massage therapist) but the best person. I started seeing him 2 years ago when I moved to Chicago under quite stressful circumstances and I have been getting a monthly massage ever since, with extras during finals (I'm in grad school.) He consistently makes my body and mind feel the way I need it to feel. When I'm exhausted from studying but have to keep working, I leave Charles feeling invigorated. When I'm exhausted and tense and need to relax, I leave floating on a cloud. I never have to say much, but if I tell him a little bit about what's going on, he can take it from there. As a person who spends way too much time reading at a desk, I have steady neck, back and shoulder problems and he keeps them under control. I also have periodic leg pain from my sciatic nerve and as soon as I mention it is bothering me, he makes it go away. In addition, I have gotten great comfort and advice during my sessions. Charles is truly wise and thoughtful! I find the familiarity of the music and even the sheets very relaxing. It's no surprise that Charles is popular and in demand. But, it is super easy to book. First of all, after every single session he asks me if I want to book for the next month, so it is easy to just take care of scheduling with him. The fact that he works an incredibly busy schedule also helps. And he has, on many many occasions, found a way to get me in to a particular day or week if I am having a flare up as long as I am able to be a little bit flexible. Lakeview Bodywork is the best! read more

Others have posted that Charles is hard to book because folks continually go back to him. That couldn't be more true! And for such a good reason!! I sought out Charles for an introduction to massage and instead, he one-upped that by explaining bodywork and how the most effective way to help someone is to start with listening and adaptability. My main focus with Charles has been (by request!) my upper back and neck to combat the dreaded effects of Tech Neck. But, the morning of my ~5th or 6th massage, I pulled a charlie horse. My soleus, no less. It hurt SO badly! I was still in pain by the time I saw Charles and he was able to adapt the session to help alleviate the strain and then educate me on what to do after the massage and what to do if I felt another charlie horse coming on. You know mansplaining? This was the opposite of that. It was and is simply one learned person imparting knowledge to someone who needs it. Couldn't ask for more! read more

I am so grateful to have found Charles. A friend of mine recommended him to me a few months back, and leading up to my first appointment, I was thinking I was going to have a relaxing massage. However, a few days prior, I was hit with horrible back spasms. By the time I got to Charles, I could barely move and was in tears. He was so helpful and by the end, I could breathe without fearing another spasm would hit. Breath is also very important to him and has helped me realize how important it is for daily functioning. While he works deep enough to reach all muscles, it is never uncomfortable to the point where you hold your breath. In fact, I fell asleep for the first time during a massage. It has trained me to use diaphragmatic breathing when stretching and exercising, which actually helps with achieving a deeper stretch. It's apparent that his education and experience has made him very knowledgeable, and he's great for the dancer body too! read more

I've been having a hard time getting out of bed due to lower back pain and now after just one session with Charles I'm already feeling better. I love that I'm able to book my appointment online, and with the email confirmation it just couldn't be easier. Charles was very professional and the facilities are relaxing and very comfortable. Along with the great sleep I'm gonna have tonight, Charles also gave me plenty of food for thought; open up to this guy, he'll blow you're mind while healing your back aches :) read more

Charles is a magician. He is knowledgeable, professional and so informative. I could really feel my body healing during the session. He could tell how I had injured my back just from working on it. I didn't have to tell him! I was so impressed and could feel results even from the first session. I am SO thankful I found him. I absolutely recommend. You will not be disappointed! read more

Charles has been the best massage therapist I've ever seen. I found him about two years ago and continually return. The monthly club is an excellent way to keep my body from lapsing into tense knots which is how it manifests stress. He has always gone above and beyond for me to make sure I feel great. Charles has always been savant-like with pressure, working on areas that need it and locating areas I didn't even know needed work (but clearly do). I have always felt incredibly comfortable with him. He is always willing to explain a problem I'm experiencing and how I might work on it between sessions. He has helped me decrease migraines, reduce jaw clenching, be less tense and have better range of motion. I highly recommend his services. It is challenging to get an appointment so book early! He is great about finding time if you have a problem or need to get squeezed in too. read more

I enjoyed every aspect of my massage with Charles. The location is convenient and street parking was easy. The space is cozy and comfortable. Charles asked to right questions about my lifestyle and what I was looking to achieve from my time with him. The massage itself was probably the best I've ever had. I left feeling amazing. Many times after a massage, I will feel like I needed more and that just scratched the surface, making me more aware of my achy spots. Not with Charles. You will leave feeling like a million bucks! I can't wait to go back! read more

Without a doubt, the best massage ever. I went there mainly because of carpal tunnel pain in my hands and neck/back issues contributing to it. I had been going to physical therapy, but they could only help so much and weren't addressing my neck or back at all. In just one appointment, I had considerably less pain and more flexibility and it was due to Charles work on my neck and back. My understanding of anatomy is poor, so his technique seems magical to me, but he must have a deep understanding of what he is doing to have felt this much better in 1 hour. I've had 2 more appointments since and booked another for other chronic issues. I feel like I'm in much better shape after each session and continue to improve even in between sessions. Plus, on top of all the therapeutic benefits, the massage is extremely relaxing and enjoyable. I can't say enough good things about the place or about Charles. He's not 5 stars, he's all the stars! Thank you! D read more

I have seen Charles a few times now for TMJ work. Usually I am a groupon/ first deal mooch, but Charles really listened to what I explained, and even told me some great stretches to do at home. I have become a loyal customer, which is rare for me! Thanks Charles! read more

Great practitioner and healer! I received a Groupon gift for a complimentary massage during Christmas, 2015. It was set to expire June 26 2016. Therefore, I had to get my act together and use this massage-- ASAP! Charles had ONE opening, June 25 at noon! I took it! Charles is great! He listened to me, my concerns, and was able to give me specific information about the structures of my body. He has a powerful, healing touch and offered great insight on some of the historical practice and current landscape of professional massage. At the end of the massage, I felt a deep wave of relaxation. He expertly worked the specific areas of my body-- hips, shoulders, neck-- that, upon leaving, felt completely restored. I even felt the benefits of his massage hours after leaving. In fact, it took me a few hours to simply "come back" to life. I floated blissful, in a fog of slow motion. To boot, Charles has great promos! I plan to go back in a few months. He is great and I already have sent two friends his way! read more

I've been seeing Charles for almost six months now, for both massage and structural body therapy, and he not only helps put my body at ease, but my mind as well. I look forward to our visits not only because he's excellent at what he does and very effectively treats my anxiety and trauma related body pain, but also because he's great conversation and is one of the nicest, most genuine people I've ever met. He really cares about his clients and I couldn't recommend him more highly. read more

My pilates instructor goes here monthly. She told me he could probably help my bad hip. (I slipped on some ice, walking my dog 2 years ago and it never fully recovered.) Just tried this place today and he is legit the most knowledgeable guy. He noticed my left calf had been compensating for my right hip and melted like 5 knots in my calf. It's all about posture! I can see why he is booked up too. I booked my next one on the way out and he takes credit cards for tip too. read more

My wife and I have been going to Charles for two years. He is a true professional. He's kind and attentive, and he knows his craft. Prior to Charles, I've been to ~30 masseuses, and he's the best. I'd highly recommend Charles. read more

The BEST! When I walked in Lake View Bodywork, I was in despair as my primary care doctor and 2 neurologists had told me that I would need surgery for my cervical stenosis. I had weakness, numbing and tingling on my left side. I couldn't jump, dance without my left side giving out and me falling. Charles put me at ease and I booked 10 sessions of structural therapy. After session 3, all discomfort had disappeared and I was dancing! Working out! Charles is professional, kind and knowlegeable. I still can't believe how he gave me back my mobility and ease in movement. read more

There is a reason Charles is booked up months in advance, he's incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, and does a great job explaining what he's doing and why he's doing it. I had a hard time turning my neck, and Charles did an amazing job working that area to where it hurts allot less. I'm def scheduling my next appt asap. read more

This massage place is cool, very chill and laid back. I like the convenience of online booking and the deals you can find. Reasonably priced and flexible, Charles offers late massages for the after work crowd. I've not had too many massages but Charles did a great job! I usually have a really hard time with massages because I have very active back muscles. All the other massage therapists that I've been to haven't been able to deal with it, but Charles was able to give me a relaxing and therapeutic massage. I'll definitely be back! read more

Ah-mazing! I used the Yelp deal to book my appointment and it was an effortless process. Charles sent me a text the day before to confirm the appointment that reminded me of the time, address, and it even had the gate code - making it easier for me to reference when it came time to head to the appointment. Heads up - you're asked to leave your shoes in a cubby outside of his office. Since I was the only one there, I was tended to right away. I filled out a brief information sheet and was in the room and on the table within 5 minutes of my arrival. Charles asked about the amount of pressure I prefer and explain a little about himself, his office, and his technique while he warmed up my muscles, then there was nothing but the sound of my snores for the next 60 minutes. (Sorry, Charles!) He really got in and loosened up the knots that were in my upper back and neck, and afterwards he gave me some pointers on stretching to keep the knots at bay! There was a small amount of natural sunlight in the room (instead of it being a dark), calming tunes, and the room was a good temperature. I enjoyed the experience so much that I went ahead and booked another 90 minutes at the end of my appointment - something I have NEVER done before. My advice: Get the yelp deal while you can and give Charles a chance to work his magic - you won't regret it. read more

Amazing. I just left my massage and feel like jello. I was in a lot of pain from packing and moving, and Charles was able to work out all my knots. I plan on going back in the very near future. read more

I will always go to Charles because he is simply phenomenal at what he does. I've seen him since 2011 (before he opened Lakeview Bodyworks). I did structural therapy with him at the beginning, and I am actually a quarter inch taller. You may giggle, but it's true; when you're really short, a quarter inch is important. And I've got to say, I love that I can book my appointment online. It's super easy. I'm going to go book my next appointment right now. read more

My first time going to Lake View Bodywork and it was a good massage. Charles used his knowledge of fascia to address my back tightness. The online appointment booking was very easy and helpful. I'll be back for another! read more

Charles is amazing! I found him originally at another massage place, but it was always hard to schedule with that place. When I saw he had set out on his own, I was thrilled! As an added bonus, it happens to be within a block or two of my house! It was super easy to book online and I was able to get in the very next day. I went in with my whole left side of my body in pain. My boyfriend told me a day or two before that a pack of wolves from miles away could tell I was in a lot of pain. In any case, I knew from previous experience that Charles was just the man to help me. His hands are magic. Seriously. I can't say enough good things about Charles and his abilities as a masseuse. I left my massage feeling so much better and only continued to feel all the pain and knots leave my body the rest of the day. He gives you a deal if you purchase your next session ahead of time - which of course I did - b/c, duh... I'll be back! read more

Charles is the best! I've been going to Lake View Bodywork on a monthly basis, and have definitely noticed improvements in my posture and a decrease of back pain. Charles is continually booked because he is that good! My schedule is hectic, although online booking is easy and equitable there I times I can't find an appointment. Charles will put me on a "standby" list in case anyone cancels when I'm able to be there. If something is available he'll text the group of standby people at the same time. As for his technique, I have fibromyalgia and arthritis throughout my body. Charles always makes me more mobile and almost pain free! He is truly amazing. I usually fall asleep, which I never do elsewhere, during my appointment. If you've never had a bodywork session with Charles, I explain it as way beyond massage. There isn't excessive pressure, so no residual pain, but each subtle movement puts your body back in a place where it should be. You leave feeling wonderful, relaxed and energized at the same time. And you keep feeling better in the coming hours and days. Charles will always ask me if there is anything specific I would like him to work on. My typical response is you will find the spots that need it most. Literally, I'll mention my shoulder, or something, and soon I'll feel him following the pain, moving along, adjusting his pressure and technique along my spine, or hips, or whatever, making the pain disappear. I love that I don't have to explain each and every pain that I'd like addressed. I've recommended so many people to Charles and they're all extremely satisfied. Please take the time, find an appointment and go to Charles, your body will thank you. read more
