Cristina is so patient explaining how pottery works and encourages you to be playful with what you create. Adam is also very helpful offering any advice, together they make a great team. The attention to detail does not go unnoticed, and they make everyone feel welcomed (this is very important because I understand it can be scary/intimidating to try new things! they put any fears to ease) Luckily I had the opportunity to glaze a few of my pieces, which is worth the money! I was so pleasantly surprised how quickly my pottery was fired, considering how long the process can take from start to finish. I have been to multiple OCISLY events, but one of my favorite memories was crafting matching swan coffee mugs with my partner. It was so fun to do side-by-side while surrounded by creative energy and good vibes. We cherish these mugs and pull them out often smiling at the subtle unique imperfections that make each one beautiful. Thank you to OCISLY for an amazing memory that will last for years & years. We look forward to many more clay dates!

If you are coming to Miami, and your calendar is manageable, make your visit land on Second…read moreSaturday. If you make it on Second Saturday, well, all galleries are open late, and many galleries offer free drinks. Many galleries also have cash bars, if you really want to hang. If you like walking around, this could be a problem. The streets are packed with art lovers. If you like to sit down, this could also be a problem. It's overcrowded, and finding a seat may be a hard commodity to find, but don't lose hope. If you come to Second Saturday, you'll have fun.

How could I have not reviewed this before?…read more I was one of the brave souls exploring Wynwood back at the beginning in '02 / '03 when Second Saturdays had a more underground feel to it and was just three or four gallery spaces. (I remember this area when I went to high school nearby and it was just the hood, but I'll leave it at that...don't want any more gray hairs to pop up!) Anyways, Wynwood / Design District has grown up and diversified now and known by the mainstream. Nowadays you're likely to see a DJ performance in front of a local (non green mermaid) coffee shop with live breakdancing, live street painting, performance art such as planking in one of the public spaces, and bands in the other . You're also likely to run into a bunch of majorly cool people around the different galleries too. Don't forget the bunch of new restaurants, plus the food trucks either! Sure, parking can be an adventure and / or overpriced ($10 for an unimproved lot where my "Eleanor" gets dirty?? ) But what would a hot night in the city be without a little adventure!

Good news, they expanded the bar so you can drink from both sides; there is also an autonomous bar in the patio area. The kitchen has improved 2000% and the croquetas are really good by any standard. When they opened, they had some silly tables and had removed a pool table. Thankfully they came to their senses and added a second table, so now the waits are OK. The staff is super friendly, with Flako, Claude, and the bar staff all being friendly and nice. Great place to go late to have a beer. And, yes, fly in the ointment... the beer selection is nowhere what it was before, which is normal, I suppose.

I didn't do it rudely I just shook my head and said "I'm good. never mind". I think she got offended that I cancelled my order and started yelling at me. I didn't reply or even look at her while she was doing her rant. I felt like she wanted an argument for some weird reason. After she was done yelling she stood there for a second. I think she expected me to argue back or respond in some way but I just kept ignoring her. After an awkward pause she walked to the other side of the bar and finally left me alone. I had already ordered a drink but I felt so uncomfortable that I left my full drink at the bar and left the Pub. While i was driving I thought it was maybe something I did. I felt so weirded out by that bartender. Why did she get so angry? It wasn't just that she was rude. It's like she wanted to argue lol. or maybe it was me and I took things the wrong way and I'm being way too sensitive. Either way, it kind of killed the chill vibe for me. I talked to my friend about it to get a second opinion. And she told me she knew which bartender I was talking about. She didn't know her name and neither do I but she described her perfectly and told me that the same bartender had also been rude to her last time she went to Churchill's. I wonder if anyone else has had a mad experience with her?
