For someone who has been tuning into Univision for twenty years to see some women and girls who are actually pretty (cf, typical US broadcast tv), I'm happy to report that they do have good looking females. Now to the advice: bring alcohol or drugs. Make sure to arrive late and lubricated. It'll be that much more divertido. Overall worthwhile to do once so enjoy it that one time since you wont be coming back unless you're nuts.

It was fairly easy to find street parking, and the hotel itself is modern and beautiful. The event has a good representation of different rosé, Many from France, mostly Provence but other regions as well, and others from Spain, Italy, Chile and even South Africa and Morocco, though nothing domestic, which is a bit disappointing. Varietals range from the traditional granache, temperillo, pinot noir and chardonnay, to unusual ones like a merlot rosé from Navarra. For sparkling wine, there are real champagnes being poured, Pommery and Nicolas Feuillatte. This event really allows me to sample the many style of rosé side by side. You will notice the difference between the light, mineraly old world rosé and the big, jammy ones from new world, as well as the difference of rosé made from different grapes. At the Nicolas Feuillatte booth, you get to sample the brut and demi-sec. At Ferrari's, you are offered a NV and vintage brut. Moreover, some booths were manned by representative or even owner of the vineyards/regions, who are knowledgeable about wine and are happy to hold a discussion. I walked away knowing a bit more about rosé and what styles I like. There is a VIP area, which serves charcuterie and cheese, cocktail shrimp, oysters and desserts - all perfect with a glass of rosé! (However, I must admit that I got a complimentary trade ticket, and when I learned that it costs $125, I would say for that price I would expect more food - enough as a meal, not just munchies.) I am not giving it 4 stars because I got a free ticket from Yelp. I didn't. I had a good time at the event, it was well organized with good samples to taste. For someone interested in learning and trying different types of rosé, this event is perfect. The number of wine is just right, without overwhelming my taste buds. As my companion said, it would be lovely if they do a similar event for say, Cab or Sauvignon Blanc.

The vendors were all great in explaining and pouring their product. Both inside and outside, the DJ was playing some really great music. Made my way to the concession stand and headed straight to the movies. Now the place is a little older but what it lacks in just age they made up in the quality of seats. The seats were so spacious my big ass still had room. To top it off the seats really reclined back, like give me a blanket and I'd fall asleep. It was that comfortable. They had advertised that pianist Stephen Mars's would be playing that night, so I checked out his music on line and got so excited to see him and hear some of his CD of Beatles music that I went with my girlfriend that night to see him. But I misunderstood the hours he was playing from 2-6 and believed he was playing from 6-9. So when we arrived there we were very disappointed to hear he was finished playing. So after we spoke to him for a little while explaining our disappointment, he went back up on stage and played some Beatles music for us and the other patrons despite his shift having ended. There was a pretty decent crowd and everyone loved it. Stephen is really a wonderful musician and truly an interesting and terrific guy! So I would highly recommend the music in The Backroom Live at the Fish House, particularly when Stephen Marks is performing there. Thanks Harry K.
