Terrible experience. The owner has a dress code that is discriminatory. Tonight I go visit to celebrate my cousin's birthday and I was wearing a hoodie, baseball cap with jeans and timberland boots. I get to the door and security says the hat & hoodie has to go back in my car.. mind you we're in Chicago it's literally 45 degrees. The hoodie and hat is for warmth. Not to mention, this is not a club, but a cheaply put together hookah bar. I go put my hoodie & hat back in the car and come back to the door. My bff and I came here to celebrate one of our friends birthday and had an awesome time. Angie, the manager was super fantastic and amazing. We told Angie we were expecting 15 people, but it turned out to be maybe 20 or more, but Angie was great, very accommodating. I had the Purple Savior and I tried the White Gummy Bear, both were fantastic. Overall, I think everyone had a great time, I did anyway. Parking was easy, we parked a half of block away. The sofa's are super comfortable. We spent $41 for the two of us, that included the 2 hookah flavors, and the cork fee (we had a bottle of wine), I don't think that was to bad, but it was only my third time going to a hookah lounge. A few things to know before you go: 1- It is a BYOB, but you need a receipt for the alcohol you bring in (they do ask for the receipt). 2-Its a small cork fee, I believe it $3/person for wine and $4/hard liquor. 3-Food can be ordered and delivered to the hookah café. read more

It is with great sadness to report that this Hookah Lounge completely discriminated against myself and the people I was with. I arrived with 3 of my friends around 9:45, myself and one of my friends were immediately turned around because we had on baseball caps, we immediately complied with the made up rule and walked our hats back to the car (which was a few blocks away). Once we made it back to the door the owner came out and said that they were at capacity and under no circumstance would they be letting anyone else in for the night. We tried to reason with the owner and explain we had 2 friends inside that were celebrating birthdays. Owner still refused to let us in. With it being freezing cold outside we decided to call it quits to the sheer disappointment of the birthday guest we were trying to see. We left and later found out at least 10 other people were allowed access after our attempt to get it. No guest left it was just up to the owners discretion who to let in and who not to. Terrible experience and missed 2 dear friends birthday parties because of how we looked. There are much better Hookah spots on the north side that do not discriminate against patrons. I hope in the future they change their ways. read more

They don't take reservations but if you arrive before 9:30 pm on the weekend, chances are you'll be able to get a booth. I've been craving hookah for a while now and my boo suggested coming here since our other favorite place was packed. We found parking right outside of the business (Thank God) because usually you have to park the block over or across the street. If wasn't packed at all and we were able to find a booth right away. The booths are super nice- comfortable and more than enough room for two people to lay down and just chill. I mean it was super appreciated and nice! We weren't sure what we were in the mood for but the server told us that the most popular hookah is the gummy bear! I have to say- I wasn't disappointed! It was exactly what I needed! I'm no hookah connoisseur, but i'm friends with many. As a result I've inhaled my fair share of smoke in this lifetime and also been around to enough spots to pick the good from the bad. My Hookah Cafe is up in West Rodgers Park - which isnt ideal but it is what it is. This place is always packed which is often a good indication that they are doing a good job. The inside is very clean and well ventilated and the choices of flavors and packing is excellent all at a good price $12-15. They also provide extra coals ahead of time. My only issue would be the music and the seating which can be a bit random. For a chill activity you want chill vibes and SOMETIMES i feel like thats lacking here. Calmer music and more couches and cushions will take this place to 5 stars easy. read more

First of all, I want to start off by saying that I did enjoy my time at My Hookah Cafe. It was reasonably priced and it had a good atmosphere. However, my night was spoiled by some very crude service that I cannot condone from anyone. I walked in with my friend and someone who's affiliated with the place was sitting down at the front Facetiming someone. When we walked in, he asked us to say hi to the friend he was Facetiming, which is unusual but nothing too demanding. After we said hi to the friend, the man asked his friend, "Are you still trying to get laid tonight?" and turned the camera towards us. Keep in mind that my friend and I are barely 20, and this was a middle aged man who was objectifying us the second we walked into the place. Maybe he thought it was a joke and thought we would find it funny, butI was extremely offended by the misogynistic behavior and that type of talk is exactly what makes women feel unsafe in their surroundings. I neglected to get his name and I regret that now. The rest of the staff were kind and friendly, but I think it would do well for them to get sensitivity training so the people working there know better how to respect their customers. If all of this hadn't happened, I would have given this place 5 stars. However, this business doesn't deserve it as long as customers are disrespected in that way. read more

I visited with a group of friends from Houston Texas. We smoke hookah like everyday back home, so we wanted good quality shisha. We are so happy we found this place. We literally used uber to get everywhere and our trip from our downtown hotel to my hookah cafe was adequate. The service and quality of this cafe is impeccable. I highly recommend it to anyone. They have BYOB and the cork fee is minimal. They even utilize a button system to notify the employees of the service required. Again, love this place. Went for my cousin's birthday on this past Saturday night. Very busy! The employees are constantly on the move, but they come to your area within a reasonable time. The hookah flavors were nice and we were able to bring cupcakes and alcohol to help celebrate. 21+ entry, which I liked as well! Overall, nice spot. Wish the music was a tad bit louder. Edgware Road, London circa Fall 2009: some of my fondest memories of my extended business trip to the UK occurred on this street when my newfound friends and I would partake in some fantastic Middle Eastern cuisine and shisha the night away. When I got back to Chicago, my problems were twofold: I didn't have any friends who I knew who loved to hookah, and I wasn't sure of any good hookah places. Fast forward 2 years, and I've found a group of friends who love to hookah and now that I've learned of My Hookah Cafe, I can finally continue to enjoy good company around a good hookah. My Hookah Cafe is a large space with a really relaxed atmosphere. They have Fumari which has proven to be some of the best tobacco I've come across here or abroad - very smooth. The staff here are very friendly and accomodating! One of the reasons why we love to go back frequently. There seems to be an abundance of Hookah places around the city both new and old, but if you're ever up north and confused at the options, definitely check out My Hookah Cafe, but don't be surprised if you become a regular! read more

I like the setting of this place, and the guys are nice but the waitresses are snobby and not pretty at all. I recommend it but don't expect great service. I have been to this place once as my friends came out of town and they wanted hookah and it was kinda late in the midweek and this place was our best option, we came here the place was the only place open in the area it was almost midnight. the ambiance is fine, but the hookah is amazing, we are from middle east so we know how hookah is, and they had the tobacco we wanted and we enjoyed the night, the service was good as well, the place kinda far from me as i am from downtown otherwise i would be visiting the place more often. read more

My new neighborhood shisha place. They have TVs all over, comfortable booths and chairs, and when it's full it is quite cool. People playing cards, drinking coffee, watching tv, or just talking. It is reminiscent of my time overseas and the atmosphere. The pictures are a wide variety of topics but it all seems to work here. Street parking is available but you may have to walk a bit. My first time there was pretty decent. The place was traditional and had some really good hookah but the service was slow. Our waiter wasn't very attentive and often was nowhere to be found. it was really difficult to identify who worked here and who was a customer. However, the owner was really nice and attentive. Seeing the owner helping out, cleaning up tables herself and interacting with the customers showed her dedication to her business and the satisfaction of her customers. This has been our go-to place on the North Shore for a chill night with friends. They have a ton of comfy couches, big card tables, and private booths. They have several big screen TVs that will play what ever you ask (as long as no one else is watching, of course.) They have a HUGE assortment of tobacco including some hard hitting stuff that is not for amateurs. I would consider myself a seasoned hookah smoker and this stuff nearly laid me out! The owners are great at making suggestions and have special house blends available. You can BYOB for a $5 corking fee. You can buy mixers here or bring your own. They even have a small assortment of middle eastern food catered to their location in case you get the munchies during the night ;-) Every time I've been here it has been a great experience. After the first couple of visits the wait staff has remembered us and welcomed us back each time! The servers usually leave you alone after you get your bowl situated so you have to track them down-- but it is no problem. They are very polite and have even offer us a complimentary bowl for our table from time to time. Not too many places in the area let you smoke, eat, and drink with your friends and spend less than $30 a person by the end of the night (including the BYOB.) I've been to this place twice now, and I have to give it a "middle of the road" review. I don't think it's the best place I've been, but by far not the worst. They do a decent job at giving a nice comfortable chill back sort of feel, but still much room for improvement. My all time favorite place was SIGARA which closed sometime last year...I was devastated to say the least! I have not found another Hookah bar that has compared in price and location as SIGARA did, but from the places I've been....My Hookah Cafe is runner up (for now!) I do wish their beverage list was a little more extensive from the small soft drink and tea selection they have. 3 stars for now....keep working at it My Hookah Cafe, you have tons of room for improvement. read more

I have been to one too many places of Hooka venues in Chicago and all around the world and to say that this place is simply amazing would be a lie. Strictly Chicago specific, and more importantly...strictly North Chicagoland specific...this place is indeed a 4 star. They sell/serve Fumari Tobacco, which is good quality stuff...that says a lot. And to think that these guys sell hookah for 16 bucks, which is enough for 2 people for an hour is a good price. On MON and TUE it is 8 bucks. There is an opton for 12 bucks for another tobacco, but why bother. The drink selections are great - Tazo Ice Tea, all sorts of soft drinks, IBM Root Beer, etc...pretty good. Coffe was not great. Service is alright, but it was not busy when we went. I'm afraid if we had gone when it was super busy, I'm assuming service will be deplorable. Stumbled on this placed when me and a friend were in the area and were looking for a hookah place on yelp. Let me start off by saying I was pleasantly surprised. Great quality hookah at a great price ($12 for al fakher). They provide plenty of extra charcoals up front so no need to track anyone down when you need to change charcoals. The guy making the hookah was super fast (2 min wait time!). Pretty diverse crowd. They were playing good music as well and had good air circulation. Been here twice. The first experience was better than the last. Just your typical hookah place. They allow you to bring your own booze, just make sure you have the receipt of purchase.
