Not sure why all of the poor reviews considering my experience, but maybe I just got lucky? I think this is a good place to go out if you are in a group and wanting to dance, but I feel like they can do something about the sound system here. They only have two speakers on the walls and they definitely need to lower the high-frequency. The music sounds too sharp here. The drinks are at typical prices (around $12) and they play latino & Reggaeton music which is exactly what I'm always looking for. The crowd is pretty diverse and enjoying their time there. I'd say the next time I come here, I'd start off pregaming elsewhere on 18th street or bar hop, and come here last. Stopped by at 10pm on a Friday with my friend. It was my first time here. Space is somewhat small, and there were a few high tops and some stools at the bar. We just had a drink and the music was good (a lot of reggeaton ) Once it started getting more crowded, our stools from the bar were removed and the crowd was definitely younger (early to mid 20s) and way more men than ladies. Twisted Cantina has a small food menu, but I prefer their cocktails. A really good value considering the quality and creativity. Some nights they bring in a DJ and it gets kinda crazy with a young crowd. I suggest dropping in for Happy Hour to pregame before your next destination. First time came here for a girls night out, this place looks super low key from the outside but very artsy and classy in the inside. Music was "different" but wasn't my type of music. But, the drink was what's worth my 5 stars. The bar have a great selections of cocktails, beers and wines. I ordered their La mule($10). Worth every pennies! The bartender Alma used fresh ingredients with good amounts of alcohols which compares to many popular bars and clubs that charge ridiculously high price for some cheap drinks. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a bar with quality drinks. This was my 2nd attempt at dining in here. I couldn't get food my 1st attempt a year prior so we left. This time we barely got seats but we snagged two and ordered at the bar. The set up here is confusing as hell. Idk if they want to be a bar or restaurant because they serve food but dont have the tables/seats to accommodate you to eat. It's very weird. To any event we ordered 2 orders of steak tacos with come with cilantro/onion in 4 pairs. We also ordered drinks. The drinks were tasty, but could use more liquor. The tacos were grade b steak meat and not good to me. My fiance devoured his in 2mins. So yeah difference of opinion. I probably wouldn't elect to return here. read more

My wife and I came here to meet a close friend and have some drinks and a bite. It was recommended that we try the La Mule drink for $10 which was awesome, and then we ordered 10 tacos with various fillings and meats. Now I have not been in night clubs in a very long time and I do enjoy music a little louder than the average but man this DJ did not get it period. The music was incredibly loud and I discovered why as they have over 1000 Watt speakers and a few of them in this little place, speakers large enough for an outdoor stadium. We begged and pleaded the waitress to ask the DJ to lower the volume with no luck, then my wife went to ask him to lower the volume because we could simply not hear each other and it was uncomfortable to even enjoy the other wise good taco's I would have given this place 3 stars for a inconsiderate DJ, but it was what happened after we paid and left. I ran into a guy that introduced himself as the owner, I gave him credit for good food and drinks but the music is meant for a night club for a dinner/bar, it was then that his must be girl friend yelled at my wife an friends. The music, the ambience and the beauty of this spot nesteled on 18th street and Blue Island. Finally a place to actualy give me the vibe of a beat nick spot of the 70's, I am ODETTA! I can see wordsmyths crammering to speak in this spot and to get a good old fashioned "twisted" drink that is very reminiscent of the "cantinas" of the past. I do enjoy a good spot that has not only a great vibe, but the people. The people are amazing. And I am not only talking about the staff, but the ambience is incredible. Patrons can be a little bit snooty in other spots around Pilsen, but here they aren't. You can strike up a conversation with just about anyone from what I see and its real. I've already made a few friends that are really awesome. The Brussels sprouts that they marinate in a chili morita sauce is to die for! I love healthy and I guess since its a vegetable, the sauce doesn't kill me as much as I thought it would. Who cares? The Brussels sprouts are simply amazing! With just a touch of heat and the right flavor, I can't say it enough. Its an appetizer but not just an appetizer. If you want something a little bit more filling I would suggest the brisket sliders. Oh wow, corn beef on a sticky bun, who would of thunk? I also had the elote (corn) and it was definitely elote but with a twist. I think they actually had hemp seeds on it and they actually gave a really good flavor, as I was hesitant to try them but I am glad I did. And this was at the suggestion of one of the workers who stated that I would love it. Guess what? I DID! Their drinks are really good also and I geared away from the usual. This time around I tried the Paloma which consisted of Tequila, Triple sec, lavender and grapefruit juice. The taste was amazing and I really have no negatives to give on this concoction. Really nice and smooth tasting. The Moscow mule is nice to, but I would prefer an Irish one. A competitor from down on Pilsen makes a really nice one, but I digress, since its not about them. I went on throwback Thursday and it was the absolute worst and rudest service I've ever had. Although your staff believed I was a inexperienced child I'm actually 6 year industry vet. I worked from a host in a fine dining restaurant to a wrigleyville bartender. To stand for an entire song and not even be acknowledged is FLAT OUT IGNORANT. When I have to over extend myself to get attention is RIDICULOUS. To be yelled "YOU HAVE TO WAIT" and expect a tip is idiotic. Please learn BAR ETIQUETTE! For the space you have it makes no sense to have 2 people behind the bar who can't handle MAYBE 50% capacity. Waiting 2 mins for a seltzer just to be given to wrong kind makes no sense. Drink 1 Drink 2. A shot in a rimmed glass. They rimmed the glass and made an ENTIRE DRINK before throwing a shot in my glass. After drink 3 I was absolutely irritated watching them immediately make drinks for the DJ and his friends overtop customers. At the point I asked to close out as I watched them print out many other checks. The male bartender turned and again yelled "YOU HAVE TO WAIT!".....dude you're literally printing checks wtf After asking the female bartender I was eventually given. Even though I only PUSHED the tipped and signed receipt away from me the bartender decided to come from behind the bar and tell the doorman I threw a check book at her and wouldn't be allowed in anymore....first of all that will never be a issue and secondly is that how you respond to people who pay and tip? My partner and I decided to check this place out on a Saturday night. It was like a night club when we arrived. I'm going to start with the 'cons' about this place. First upon from arriving we realized that it was too hot inside and on top of that the place started to get very crowded like elbow to elbow crowded. The lines to the bathroom are extremely long bc they only have 1 bathroom for women with no extra stalls. Just one toilet. When I went to the bathroom I waited for about 15 minutes. There were about 6 girls in front of me. Once it was my turn and I got inside the bathroom I decided not to 'go' bc I realized the bathroom was extremely filthy. So I left. The only 'pros' about this place are their cocktail prices which are half of what you pay if you were to go to the bars on West Loop. Their music and ambiance is decent. So it's an okay place to drink and dance to some music. read more

I've actually been here a couple of times but thankfully my most recent experience was better than my first. My first wasn't that terrible, in fact it was kind of funny how bad it was. We waited at the bar for a good 30 minutes, and failed to get a drink order in. But it wasn't just us who couldn't get an order in; not even the people in front of us in line could get a word in to these tenders. I mean, what are y'all doing if you're not getting people their drinks? Ah well, no big deal honestly. This most recent time was better. We got our drinks, and they were actually delicious. I had their Mai Tai and Mezcal drinks and both got me feeling nice. I didn't particularly care for the space. Seemed way too narrow for it to be considered a club, and the DJ was very average. Good thing is, no cover to get in from my understanding. No dress code neither, and the prices for drinks are modest at best. Could be a fun place if you don't care about some specifics of the place, or if you're coming into the joint wasted. I'm just a critic in every scenario I'm in. Sorry not sorry. I did a decent amount of research before deciding to go to Twisted Cantina. I have a set of go-to taco places in Pilsen, but my friends were also looking for a place we could get drinks that wouldn't be super crowded and Twisted Cantina seemed like it was an easy to get to area with decent parking options. When we got to Twisted Cantina a little after 7 on Friday night, the place had tons of room so that was good. It was a little dark, but as expected of a bar/club room. The food was pretty good (but a little hit or miss). The elote which I normally love had a funky smell to it like the cheese wasn't quite right, so wouldn't recommend that. The bulgogi tacos were delicious! But some of the other tacos had good meat but came with too much white rice and tasted a little dry. If you don't like a lot of white rice in your tacos, you should ask beforehand which ones have it. They have a really good happy hour deal I believe though we missed it. I'd probably come back for that, despite the fact that the service was really pretty slow. Also FYI - I walked by this place later that night (around 11) and it was BUMPIN'. I didn't realize how popular it gets as a club which is pretty cool, but get here early if you don't want to wait in line. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would... The bartender lost my card, and when asked about it it was not their problem.. The male bartender was very aggressive as well as the bouncer. I loved this place. The food is really good. It's a twist to your typical tacos, and the flavor is definitely there. I wouldn't recommend putting additional salsa, because it can be spicy....and I'm used to eating spicy food. I would highly recommend the Korean bulgogi taco [its ok the sweeter side], brussel sprout [that sauce is to die for!], and the steak taco. Also, the drinks! Definitely try one of their cocktails. They serve food here?? Never knew. Twisted is a great drink spot for a young crowd with loud top 40 playing by some of Chicago's greatest djs. It gets packed fast like elbow to elbow back to back. A true south side reunion usually takes place here. Drinks are always great. Now the wait to get a drink on a packed weekend can vary. Bathroom lines are always long. This is a good bar - but DO NOT PARK ON 16th. We came to Twisted on Friday night and parked on 16th. We came back a few hours later and had a ticket. 16th is residential parking and you will be ticketed. Another car had their tires slashed. DO NOT PARK ON 16th. We came in here to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was still pretty early so there weren't many people there. The drinks we all had were pretty good. We ordered elotes and let's just say don't order the elote unless you're looking to eat tasteless elote from a can. The bathroom was terrible and so filthy. There was dried throw up and what looked like blood all over the toilet seat and sink. I will definitely not be returning. If the bathroom is that filthy and is not being cleaned regularly makes me wonder what else isn't being cleaned. read more

I have been here once was ok but drinks are expensive and one bartender so really long wait for one drink. Now if your booking a private event DON'T!!
