Unfortunately, my experience was one of the worst customer-service experiences I've ever had. I booked an appointment with Miguel to have my hair colored and showed him a reference picture. He said he could achieve the color and that it would take 4-5 hours. I paid a $50 deposit and was told not to wash my hair for three days beforehand, which I followed. My appointment was at 9:30 a.m. When I arrived, I was having trouble with my card and asked if they could charge $1 first to make sure it worked. Instead, the manager charged me the full $350 before we even started. Miguel immediately began applying bleach. I told him I didn't want my hair bleached, but he said it was the only way to get the color I wanted. My hair is waist-length, yet he was doing everything himself. My scalp started burning and itching, and when I mentioned it, I was told that was normal. At one point, because of a misunderstanding, I was even told the burning was my fault because I had washed my hair. After about two hours of applying bleach, Miguel told me we needed to wait 10-15 minutes. Then he WALKED OUT OF THE SALON without telling me. My scalp was burning badly. I was walking around the salon trying to distract myself from the pain while waiting for him to return. I asked the manager where he was, and she told me he'd be back soon. About 20 minutes later, Miguel finally came rushing back and hurried me to the sink. After rinsing my hair, he told me I needed ANOTHER round of bleach. At this point, I was extremely frustrated. It was already noon, and I knew another round would take 3 more hours. I told Miguel I wanted to stop and asked for a refund since I had already been charged. He couldn't understand me, so he looked to the manager for help. The manager then apparently couldn't communicate with me in English either, and another CLIENT had to help translate. I was so frustrated that I started crying. Eventually, I continued with the service because I was already there and had paid. During the second round of bleach, Miguel was rushing so much that bleach was splattering everywhere. One drop landed directly on my piercing. I had specifically asked earlier whether I needed to cover it, and he had told me he would be careful. At one point, he covered my forehead and eyes with a towel. I told him I was exhausted and would probably fall asleep, eventually he was shaking me awake when I started falling asleep. My phone died during all of this, so I lost track of time. After several more hours, we finally got to the coloring process. Miguel only had TWO bottles of dye for my waist-length hair. Naturally, they ran out. Another employee had to leave the salon to buy more while I sat there waiting.She eventually returned with four more bottles, and they continued. By the time everything was finally done, it was around 5:30 p.m. -- essentially an entire day for what was supposed to be a 4-5 hour appointment. When I saw the final color, it was MUCH brighter and more neon than the reference picture I had shown Miguel. I told him it was brighter than I wanted, and he assured me that it would darken over time. At this point, I just wanted to leave. Before leaving, I was asked to pay the credit card fee, and while I was paying, Miguel also asked me for a tip. I honestly couldn't believe it. This was my first time ever getting my hair professionally done, and unfortunately, this experience has made me not want to do it again. I now have bright neon purple hair that I cannot comfortably work with, and my options are to spend even more money having someone else correct it, buy a wig, or risk damaging my hair trying to fix it myself. I'm sure they may do a great job with haircuts, and I'm glad other people have had good experiences here. But based on MY experience, I would strongly recommend going somewhere else for color. The communication was extremely difficult, the process was chaotic, my scalp was burning, bleach got on my piercing, the appointment took nearly the entire day, and the final color was not what I asked for. For nearly $400, I expected a professional, organized experience and a result that matched the reference picture I provided. That is not what I received.

However, the stylist, Dinah, greeted me at the door and walked me over to the salon area as her previous customer left. Dinah asked me to put on a jacket to catch the hair. The jacket covered the back part of my body. On top of that, she placed the customary frontal cover to catch the hair on the front side. Rapport was established immediately, and I felt comfortable right away. There's something g about the place being in a home that makes you feel cozy. Now, don't get me wrong. This isn't a place where someone decided to cut hair In their house. The salon looks like a salon on the inside with all the amenities of a salon. There's a wash tub for your hair to get shampooed, which I got, and just about everything you expect. It doesn't look girly either, which will make most men comfortable. Credit cards are accepted and my hair has received compliments since I left. More than anything, I wanted to see how nail salons were changing and adapting due to Covid-19. I was happy to receive a confirmation text that explained the precautions they were taking and what I was to expect during my visit as a client; this put me quite se ease. They told me to have a mask on and wait in my car until they texted me to let me know my technician was ready. I'm glad I remembered my mask! I noticed that clients weren't allowed to touch nail polishes, you would point to bottle and technician would take bottles and place them at your service station. The no touching anything made me very happy. That means they are being extra cautious. My technician was also wearing gloves, a mask, and shield during the whole service. It seemed uncomfortable but definitely necessary. I was very happy with my service overall. Brenda, my nail technician was very attentive and thorough. There was a mis communication, I had booked time for a mani/pedi and told them I'd need extra time because of the condition of my nails but I was only scheduled for pedi. As soon as Brenda made them aware of the situation they did re-arrange the schedule and gave me extra time. I paid 80.00 dollars for my service and I was very pleased. Good service takes time, care, and extra attention. These ladies know how to take care of you.
