I was so excited to get my hair done by Carlos just by looking at all the great reviews and before & after photos online ! We had set up a date for my hair appt over the phone. I went to his studio and sadly he told me he had to cancel and reschedule for another time. He was very genuine and apologetic and offered a free shampoo and discount for our new reschedule appt (Awesome by the way) unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the rescheduled appt due to work. Anyways, 3rd attempt and so so worth it!! (He did come through with the shampoo that he promised and the discount which was very nice of him) There is a seating area with a variety of magazines to look through and a flat screen that was playing the movie "White Chicks" lol SO, Carlos did an awesome job with my hair! I had dyed my hair jet black (I know I know, it's bad for my hair) about two months before I met with Carlos for my hair appointment and I had showed him a photo of something similar that I wanted and he did above and beyond! Terrible experience!! very unprofessional, cursing and bad language in all his conversation talking about other clients and people in general. He left me there while he was working with me to go do some errands (around one hour) with my hair wet,, after an hour I called him to see if he was coming and he replied to me in a very rude way. I waited for him to get there and left some money in the chair for his unprofessional and undone service and started walking outside, he followed me calling me and when he knew I wasn't coming back he started cursing and telling me "what kind of christian you are", I didn't speak one word. Carlos is great at color. That is a fact. However, we booked with him a month in advance for my best friends bridal shower hairstyle, and sent him a picture of what she wanted. We get there at our scheduled time to find him with 2 other guests. He triple booked us. He had no capes and no towels. Very unorganized, unprofessional, and unprepared. To top it off he was conducting personal business on his phone and asked to use our phones to conduct more personal business (house renovations/prescription refills). The reviews that you read about Carlos are true, he is a very professional person and goes above and beyond BUT, BUT - only if you are a CAUCASIAN WOMAN. He does not care about his NON-CAUCASIAN clients, at all! My sisters experience was horrible since she stepped inside his business - he was not polite at all and during the whole process he messed up her hair, and blamed it on her stating: "because you're Mexican". Upon giving him a call to explain what he had done wrong he said - and I quote "I don't give a shit, it's the valley either ways". I can tell Carlos has a huge ego because he says he does some work in Beverly Hills and other places, but that doesn't mean you should disparage the area where you are currently in. Carlos you should be ashamed of your self, not because you are trying to grow your business, but because you deny your roots and the people who try to support you. You work for the people, all your customers should be your priority not just one ethnic group. I have several businesses in Chicago as well as Puerto Vallarta, my customers are from all backgrounds of ethnicities and I have never mistreated one, or have had a personal preference over the other. I treat all my customers just how I would like to be treated or a family member to be treated, with respect and joy. Kind of disappointed (that's an understatement) that I never got to experience his work that everyone has been raving about. Being that it's by appointment only, we agreed to a time but it was never followed up. It was postponed THREE times, either due to an excuse that a client scheduled before me arrived late, he was booked or busy, or he went out doing something else. I thought third time would be a charm, and I was offered a 50% discount for that third re-schedule, but I was let down. That is very unprofessional that he does not follow his own time. I was really looking forward to the experience, even arrived early, only to be told "Can we push it to __ o'clock? Can we push it to ___ day?" It's a waste of gas, time, and effort to re-arrange my day based on his schedule. His prices are so reasonable, I honestly can't believe someone so good charges what he does but he always reminds his clients it's not about the money and that's what I love about him. I love Carlos so much! He's been doing my hair for years and I don't trust anyone else with my hair. He's very personable and always so excited to see his clients (at least with me). He's a genuinely nice, humble person. He has his own small salon which is so homey and welcoming. There's a couple areas to sit if you're taking a guest with you and a tv that's typically on as well. Not that you'll need it really; Carlos is so fun to talk to. Parking is always available in the parking lot as well. He is VERY fair when it comes to his prices. For a wash, cut and blow-dry, you pay $30. I've only ever cut my hair with him but I have seen his color work and it looks flawless. Check out his website for before and after pics. Since he works alone, he does only do by appointments only, so shoot him a text or give him a call. He's very flexible with scheduling and will work with you. I highly recommend Carlos. Honestly everyone raves about he does amazing hair & the blonde comes out great. It's bullshit. I spend about 180 begging for all blonde and left me looking like a clown , i asked . He gave my hair 3 or 4 different tones it is so embarrassing . All he ever does it y'all shit about all his clients when they leave . He is very rude and unprofessional tries to argue and give you attitude if you tell him you don't like his work. I've seen numerous clients of his have the same problem. I wish I never went here. He ruined my healthy hair now my hair is so messed up and I have grey, blonde, and dark blonde all over my hair . I went back to get it fixed and he just put bleach and told me that's all he can do because he would loose money and treated me like crap and talked down to me the whole time I was in there . He really should just stick to one client at a time . He work on 3 or 4 clients at once and is jumping around and never finishes one person within 4-5 hours. Don't waste your time or money . Do not let him disrespect you either . Just know the second you walk out he's talking about you and you can hear it from his window being open. I have now gone to Carlos for my balayage 3 times and I have never been disappointed. I had never colored my hair before going to him and he did such an amazing job with the color, the cut, the styling, he also washed and did a conditioning treatment and I was blown away by how affordable his prices are- with all his expertise and credentials he could charge way more. He spends roughly 4-5 hours on my hair each time, plus an additional couple hours to re tone my hair again and he's so patient with me. He has a hilarious personality and always keeps me entertained during those long hours. I don't know if I could trust anyone else with my hair like I trust him, he's never failed to amaze me. The quality of his work really shows, you can see in my pictures how the color held up as long as a year and a half (thanks to covid) without any treatment or touch ups or even purple shampoo it stayed blonde and as it grew out with my darker roots, it somehow still looked natural and almost ombré as it grew. I had him do my hair for my wedding and it came out gorgeous. So if you're questioning and hesitating on who to go to regarding your hair, you can look no further. Carlos is the best!!!! read more

I made an appointment 5 days in advance for my daughter and I for haircuts. We were super excited because he had great reviews and were having problems finding a good salon here in the valley. My daughter and I arrived 5 minutes before appt. As we were walking upstairs we could hear cussing and yelling. When we got upstairs Carlos came out and just stared and finally asked...what we needed. I told him we had 2 appts scheduled for 12pm. He had neglected to write us in the schedule. We had just drove 30 minutes to get there and he said we could try and come back at 4 which I declined because of dinner plans we had at 5. I'm disappointed. I have been extremely excited to get highlights for the past weeks and Carlos was the second person to cancel my hair appointment this week. We scheduled an appointment and when I get there on time he is still working on some else's hair and tells me he did not remember I had scheduled an appointment. Unfortunately, I easily believe Maria & Diana's bad reviews. Don't be fooled by all the hype. I really wanted to like Carlos, but after getting my hair done with him a few times, I realized I he is not worth the hype at all and there is nothing extra special about this man. Is he talented? Possibly... but definitely nothing grand that is worth the unprofessionalism. #1 He works on 3-4 customers at once, causing you spend 4-6 hours at the salon for a basic cut & color. I don't know about you all, but I like my individual attention with a hairstylist who can get me in and out with within 2 hours or 3 hours maximum. I realized quickly that this is a pattern for him and I just don't have that kind of time. #2 He talks shit about his clients with other clients and thinks it's funny to do so. When the customer leaves, he'll say things like, "She's a bitch right?" - "Did you notice what she was wearing?" -- #3 He doesn't have water to offer his customers, but has asked customers to run next door and buy HIM a drink. I wasn't surprised when I read a review about him leaving a customer soaking in bleach so that he could go grab lunch for himself. All of these are facts that need to be known. i wish this was a positive review since i tend to be a positive person but the experience i had with carlos was anything but pleasant. i had called a few days prior to my appointment to schedule an appointment at 3pm, i arrive 15min early just to settle in and as i walk in i am greeted with stares and was asked what i wanted, i had told him i had an appointment wanting silver hair(keep that in mind it's important) he then canceled on me, i was in kind of a rush to get my hair dyed so he scheduled me in for 7pm. i show up and he is still working on someone and didn't start on me until an hour in. i showed him what i wanted and he stated he could give me silver hair. he then starts to section my hair to bleach it, which he only bleached certain spots not my whole head like i asked he then proceeded to tell me "you don't know what you want i do" and continued to do whatever the hell he did to my hair. he left the bleach on my virgin hair for 4 HOURS completely frying my hair and left my hair every shade of brown and blonde you can think of. midway through he left the "studio" to go get something to eat, i thought no this has to be a joke right? nope. he sat and ate as my hair continued to fry. he then washed my hair and dried it with PAPER TOWELS. he then proceeded to cut not only my hair but my shirt as well (i didn't mention this previously but i had bleach all over my jeans as well) as he turned me around to see the final look, i was presented with YELLOW hair keep in mind i had asked for silver, come to find out he didn't even have the right toners for it, so i was quite confused on why he said he could execute my idea and came out with the most horrible hair imaginable. don't be fooled by the good reviews and don't make the same mistake i have DO YOUR RESEARCH and don't let a hair stylist tell you what you want is wrong and you have no clue what you want. read more

Carlos is a skilled colourist and hairdresser, and a lovely person, who takes the time to truly listen to what you want to achieve with your hair. I am a musical theatre performer so I'm very particular about what I want (so that my own hairstyle does not conflict with the characters I play on stage) and Carlos exceeded all my expectations. I was passing through McAllen for a couple of days whilst on a national tour with a show and I'm so glad I found him through Yelp. He did a full head of highlights and glazed the hair with an ash brown colour... and cut my hair as i wanted, all at a very reasonable price. I had work later in the evening and his time management helped so much with getting me there on time. He explained every step and was so efficient and organized. I am based in New York and Sydney, and Carlos is just as good as the hairdressers in those big cities!
