I know she had problems with this, she had called 2 weeks prior to confirm the appointments and they were not in the system, so she had to rebook, which did make her very nervous. But the day of.. everything worked out fine. I grew up in McAllen, now live in SA, and had been in California prior to that.. so coming back down to the valley for hair and makeup made me nervous as to what we may be getting. I was pleasantly surprised! The salon was really cute and quaint. We were offered water or mimosas when we first arrived. The mimosas were really good. The stylists were extremely nice. I showed a pic off Pinterest of the updo I wanted. Carina nailed it. I was so happy. I absolutely loved what she did, and she did it based off a picture!! I would definitely recommend her for updos for any purpose, formula, proms, weddings, you name it. Rebecca did makeup for 2 of us. She was so kind, energetic and very informative. I explained what I wanted, the color of my dress and expressed my love of GLITTER, not shimmer, glitter. And she too nailed it! I will definitely come back to The Dry Room for future makeup and up do needs next time I need something and I am in McAllen.

I went to his studio and sadly he told me he had to cancel and reschedule for another time. He was very genuine and apologetic and offered a free shampoo and discount for our new reschedule appt (Awesome by the way) unfortunately, I couldn't make it to the rescheduled appt due to work. Anyways, 3rd attempt and so so worth it!! (He did come through with the shampoo that he promised and the discount which was very nice of him) There is a seating area with a variety of magazines to look through and a flat screen that was playing the movie "White Chicks" lol SO, Carlos did an awesome job with my hair! However, the stylist, Dinah, greeted me at the door and walked me over to the salon area as her previous customer left. Dinah asked me to put on a jacket to catch the hair. The jacket covered the back part of my body. On top of that, she placed the customary frontal cover to catch the hair on the front side. Rapport was established immediately, and I felt comfortable right away. There's something g about the place being in a home that makes you feel cozy. Now, don't get me wrong. This isn't a place where someone decided to cut hair In their house. The salon looks like a salon on the inside with all the amenities of a salon. There's a wash tub for your hair to get shampooed, which I got, and just about everything you expect. It doesn't look girly either, which will make most men comfortable. Credit cards are accepted and my hair has received compliments since I left. Because of the double-covered areas, I didn't require a change in clothe after I left, as I had no hair on my body and Dinah combed me before I left. I will most definitely return here.

I was a bit hesitant to go and get my mani/pedi but with Mother's Day celebration coming up and…read morealmost 2 months of unkept nails, I had to go and get it done. More than anything, I wanted to see how nail salons were changing and adapting due to Covid-19. I was happy to receive a confirmation text that explained the precautions they were taking and what I was to expect during my visit as a client; this put me quite se ease. They told me to have a mask on and wait in my car until they texted me to let me know my technician was ready. I'm glad I remembered my mask! I noticed that clients weren't allowed to touch nail polishes, you would point to bottle and technician would take bottles and place them at your service station. The no touching anything made me very happy. That means they are being extra cautious. My technician was also wearing gloves, a mask, and shield during the whole service. It seemed uncomfortable but definitely necessary. I was very happy with my service overall. Brenda, my nail technician was very attentive and thorough. There was a mis communication, I had booked time for a mani/pedi and told them I'd need extra time because of the condition of my nails but I was only scheduled for pedi. As soon as Brenda made them aware of the situation they did re-arrange the schedule and gave me extra time. I paid 80.00 dollars for my service and I was very pleased. Good service takes time, care, and extra attention. These ladies know how to take care of you. My appointment started 30 minutes late. No one checked on me until I said something. The owner and…read moreother stylists were just waiting around. No one thought to check on me or get me started while my stylist was available. Then the owner was acting like making sure I had no color on my skin was "extra" when it's literally the baseline. I had to sign a 20 page contract to book the appointment and pay a nonrefundable deposit but no one told me they booked me with someone in training. it should have been MY choice to book with someone in training or not. The cut had to get corrected by the owner and ended up with a shorter cut than I wanted. They offered a hair mask to compensate for the waiting which would have added more time to my appointment that was already 2 hours and 45 minutes for single process color root touch up and haircut on straight shoulder length hair. They added zero product to my hair for the miserable little blow dry I got. I communicated all of this to the owner before I left. I can get this kind of service much cheaper elsewhere. I would give half a star or no star if I could.
