The class size was perfect for this activity, allowing for the teacher to adequately share instructions, demonstrate the process, and work one-on-one with students as needed. The instructions were organized on a print out with all the materials and supplies needed to replicate the activity at home and referenced during the instruction portion of the class. The materials for the class were well-maintained and organized at each place setting for each student. I've taken other art classes elsewhere and I felt like this was a step above with regard to organization, instruction, and take away materials. I loved the experience so much that I'm going to take another class in October, and this time I'm bringing a friend! In addition to the art classes and studio, Copper Cat also has a delightful little art/gift shop with items made from the artists in studio. Most are in the front shop, but some pieces are scattered throughout. Take your time looking at all the wonderful pieces... so many great art gems for sale at very affordable prices. This little shop is now on my go-to for gift shopping.

I just took the Halloween Tree resin class and the teacher was clear and very helpful. They offer classes in actual pottery work, including making a cow butter dish, a pumpkin, and a witch's hat. The atmosphere is peaceful and there is no rush to finish your piece. This is a great place to go with a friend and have fun. I have signed up for several more classes and look forward to visiting again.

The instructors gave a quick tutorial for those of us who've never even seen a pottery wheel and then they cut you loose. They stay present walking around answering questions and helping with technique the entire time. They said it takes about 3-4 weeks for our pieces to be ready for pick up. I'm curious to see how they turn out. It was a unique experience, something fun and interactive to go try:)

I got a notification…read moreon Facebook regarding a home grown Halloween Mini-Golf course with 13 holes which is the magic number for Halloween! On-line I selected two adult tickets for $15 each. Maybe a little over priced for the chaos you will experience, but it's a good donation to the cause. We chose the first time 5:00-6:00pm on 10/30. They sent out a reminder every 10mins a little annoying. The check-in ladies were very nice!! We proceed to get our ball, they made us share a putter, they had plenty there, I asked for two different color balls! We are serious about Mini-golf. Next it's time to grab a beer to start our game! You can start anywhere and you don't have to go in order, but the last hole is 13 and you finished so save that one for last. They do give you a pencil and score sheet. I gave up after a while. They had vendors throughout the course selling Jean jackets, Jewelry, haunted shelves and other Knick-Knacks. Playing was a bit of chaos, since you don't go in order! A lot of little kids dressed up! They had candy bowls at each hole! Businesses around town created the different Halloween holes which was fun and believe me they were technically difficult. I got a couple two stroke putts, then others ate my ball and I had to ask for another one!! We almost made the course until my husband said "I'm Over IT!" I think he would have been happier with his own putter. I almost took mine with me!!! Good suggestion, if you read my post! Most people were considerate and would helped each other out!!! I write this review with mixed emotions. My daughter has attended summer camp here the last two…read moreyears and loved it. The space is amazing, there is a beautiful park across the street, and the teachers were energetic and had plans for each day. Kids used a different medium each day and did sculpting, 3D printing, etc. They went to the park almost every day and made creative projects where they learned a lot, my daughter loved it. This summer has been completely different. From the moment I brought my daughter in on Monday and asked where she should put her stuff and was told, "I don't know, I guess we can try over there?" I could tell there was no coherent plan. I was also told right away it was going to be tough because there are "a lot more students this year" when it seems like the camp is the same size or even smaller than I have observed in years past. Most of the day is spent in "free time" where there are legos and arts and crafts in a room, there is a yellow piece of tape the students are supposed to stay behind and they are kind of left to their own devices. They have gone to the park once. I asked today if they would be going, and I was told by the teacher they didn't want to get left out if it starts pouring, even though it's an unseasonably beautiful day with a high in the low to mid 70s. There is an 8% chance of rain, in the afternoon, and when I said I don't think it's supposed to rain the teacher told me that her phone said "blaring thunderstorms." The only medium the kids have used is plaster and hot glue, and there is no exploring of the space and activities in other parts of the beautiful space like there used to be. The kids are safe, and it's not like anything is horribly wrong, but there is no creativity or coherent plan, and my daughter, who never complains, said it's boring this year and she doesn't want to go back. I brought this up with the teacher and she informed me it's her first time there, and she's "still trying to figure out the camp and what is and isn't allowed." I'm not sure completely what that means, but for the students who signed up for this week, that doesn't do them much good. She also mentioned "Well, we'll be doing a lot more stuff today," which I guess is great, but also an admission they haven't done much, and it's already the last day of the camp for this session. It is a CLEAR case of making things easier for the teachers over prioritizing the experience of the students. Kids need to be safe, but teachers also need to be proactive and creative, and if there are too many kids for this to happen, there needs to be more staff added.

The museum itself is manageable in size, I got through the whole thing in a couple of hours which I actually appreciated. Not overwhelming, just right. My only gripe was that there were a lot of loud people while I was there. Conversations echoing through the rooms made it hard to really concentrate and take everything in. Wish the etiquette had been better enforced but that's more of a crowd thing than a museum thing. The gift shops though? Loved them. There's a bookstore, a library, a gift shop, and a cute little shop in the lobby and I could have spent way too much time and money in all of them. Would absolutely go back next time I'm in Reno.
