I am saddened to give this review. I have been seeing Dr. Kovar for more than 10 years and his service is always 5 stars. I absolutely love my dental hygienist Jennifer (also 5 stars and she is the best dental hygienist I have ever had in my life, seriously!). She genuinely cares and I am always at ease during the appointments. I also adore my daughter's pediatric dentist Dr. Austin, also 5 stars. Also, the dental office is 5 stars. Clean, modern, latest and best equipment. But unfortunately, the front desk and billing are not great (1 star). The front desk is friendly in greeting however lacks work ethic and carelessness to get the billing right. I have 2 appointments already this year which I paid out of pocket half costs because they keep saying they don't have my insurance information even though I presented my insurance card twice during the visits and one time on online form before the first appointment. I checked with my insurance just today, although out of network, I am told it is 100% coverage for preventative with an initial $50 deductible. What is frustrating is they did not submit the claims to my insurance (I called my insurance this morning to check) and not respond to my email to confirm receipt of email which I sent yesterday. Anyways, my daughter has another appointment next week for filing and I am dreading to deal with the front desk. I know after speaking to my insurance that 80% will be covered for her fillings. Money is not the issue here but the principle. I initially decided I will cancel that appointment, but I love my daughter's dentist so I will still go knowing there will be another billing issue and paying an arbitrary out of pocket. I would also hate to give up on our relationship with our dentists and dental hygienists as a family simply because of billing problems, but I may have to if billing problems persist. Dear Office Manager, if you see this, please kindly contact me directly and I would like to confirm: 1. If my insurance information is in your system. I hope so it should be after 3 times! 2. If the claims are submitted. Otherwise, I will need to fill them out myself, get your signature and submit to my insurance. 3. I have been coming to this office with my family for over 30 years. The office is under new management and is the "next stage" of dental care! The dentists there are great and really provide holistic, best practice dentistry. Dr. Kovar is great and has been there for quite awhile and my daughter sees him and is very confident about his care, particularly because she has major health problems. My doctor (and owner of the practice) is Dr. Sandhu and he is so competent, caring and knowledgeable that I'll be there forever! A service plan for needed work is always provided, and the patient chooses the solution. There is no upselling or pressure to choose an option. The office is technologically advanced helping the doctors to get a really accurate read on all aspects of my teeth. Dr.'Sandhu's assistant Erica has advanced training and provides incredible help. Crowns can be done in office, eliminating the need to have them made outside of the office and requiring additional visits, a pediatric dentist comes in on Saturdays to work with little ones. I'm so happy with the work I've had done there and the awesome office staff-Dr. Sandhu is stuck with me! read more

There are claims that "My Dentist" is holistic. So I went there in hopes they could help me. Turns out I had to have a tooth extraction from an old root canal. I had bad anxiety from the news because I just went through loss and I've been through a lot of trauma the last 13 years. And yes I know it's a tooth, but at that moment it was a big deal. They then told me the infection was bad so come in right away that Friday. I came in with my husband taking time off that day because I can't drive. They asked me when I got there if I took turmeric. Since I can't take nsaids, yes I do. They told me they can't do the procedure if I'm taking it. It would have been nice if they told me that before scheduling me. Then they said I have to be off it 2 weeks. They had one experience and believe it was turmeric cuz that's what they googled. I wasn't treated very nicely because I was struggling with anxiety still though I had been working through it. The dentist said he's going to have to sedate me if I can't calm down. Anyone knows this does not calm someone with anxiety and trauma down. I told him that would make me worse. I've had bad side effects from it and abuse when under. He could care less. I waited 2 weeks came back in. Told them I stopped taking turmeric after them asking 3 times. The dr got the tooth out quickly and convinced me to do a bone graft but didn't tell me the healing process would be longer. When he did the graft, he grabbed my jaw like it was a UFC fight. My neck hurts from the grab, my upper gums hurt where the tooth wasn't at. My front teeth are sensitive. Etc. swelling is intense but I'm assuming that's part of it. My friends all said they were fine after a day. He tells me it's 2 weeks I could still hurt. I had to call because the swelling was down the gums farther from the tooth extraction. He was not happy when I called. He was quick with me. I had to call again because the membrane fell out. I didn't know that's what it was but I called cuz I didn't want anything coming out. He raised his voice and treated me like a child and said it was the membrane and accused me of playing with it. I was absolutely not playing with it. But he was so rude and wouldn't let me say anything. Then at the end of the conversation came to say that the membrane will come out on its own ‍ no time frame given though. Why was I talked down to the whole time if it's possible for it to come out on its own?? I havnt gotten a cleaning with them. It was an emergency visit. I wanted to refer my dad there but he's 77 and has a broken jaw still. Long story. If they can't treat someone who's severely disabled with kindness, what will they do to a geriatric? My husband went there before for a cleaning and a dentist who is no longer there, saved 3 of his teeth. I wish I had the experience he had. But with new owners I guess you can't expect the same care. It has been 2 months since I been there now. And my jaw still hurts. Doctor told me it's from the dentist and I'm getting adjustments on it now. Also they are not transparent on pricing. When they thought I didn't have insurance I was show it was going to be a little over $900. We just got insurance and let them know and they raised it to $1500. Guess how much my insurance paid? I ended up paying $900. What's the point of insurance???? I brought this up and they said those are the charges they charge. I want to mention that there was a dentist who was kind but he was not a specialist in extraction so I didn't have a choice on who was to do my extraction. He offered to speak to me after I spoke to medical billing to find o it if they can adjust what I paid. I decided not to because I wasn't planning on going back. Who wants to get anxiety again? The dentist was a specialist but not with physically disabled people. I waited 2 months to cool down before leaving this review because I wanted to write facts and not let my emotions get the better of me. I hope this helps someone read more

Stay away from this place. Dr's are nice enough but the office staff is terrible. They will tell you one thing on price and even cash discounts and charge you something else entirely. I was looking for a dentist to deal with potential bone degeneration (so-called cavitations) and Dr. Margolis came up a lot in my online searches. I wanted someone experienced and his long time in the field seemed to be a plus. I had read some of the court documents and online info about him and still decided to go through with a consultation. (If you're thinking about using this dental office, I highly recommend doing the same -- reading some of the litigation documents that are posted online.) While reading them won't give you a sense of his personality, it will give you some history. Even after reading the lawsuit info, I decided to see what he had to say considering the conferences he spoke at etc. Perhaps he and his methods were just misunderstood by the old guard? Meeting the man was the final nail in the coffin. My personal impression is that of a modern P.T. Barnum. I was given a folder with many brochures for services that I wasn't there to discuss, including sleep apnea. (I had a sleep study a few years ago and was found not to have sleep apnea so that whole thing was moot.) Anyway, after the CBCT scan (read more on that below), I was given an estimate for a $500-$600 Cavitat scan as the next step for another day, and the doctor told me that he would NOT treat one area at a time (which is what I'd want to do if he was going to start exploring in my jaw), he said he'd only treat me if I did all 4 areas at once and only if I did IV sedation. He also got very judgy with me saying I was a mess, just look at my hips, they were not symmetrical that day and demanded I walk down the hall and back. Last time I was asked to walk down a hall, it was by a podiatrist... not a freaking dentist. Anyway, I already know my hips go off kilter now and then but again, I'm not there for that an what the hell is he doing touching my hips anyway? Then he told me to see a NUCCA chiropractor (something else I had also done about a decade ago). All of the showmanship to prove I was not well reminded me of the Penn & Teller Masterclass I'd watched recently about the magician's technique called "diversion." My head was spinning with all of the things Margolis said was wrong with me and his demand that he put me completely out with propofol so that he could do all 4 "cavitation sites" at once that I finally had had enough. It was a hard-sell, take it or leave it offer that I declined. His office staff, especially Destiny were really nice, which is why this review is 2 stars instead of 1. However, it turns out that the leg work I had to do to get my CBCT scans on a thumb drive were completely wasted. After two additional experienced people looked at Dr. Margolis' scans, they both said they were crap. The scans were murky and didn't have the clarity needed to even properly diagnose me so I had to undergo yet another CBCT scan jsut two weeks after the one Dr. Margolis did. (I don't know how old his machine is, but it was suggested that his machine is old which would be a reason the scans were not good.) Anyway, if you still feel like you want to potentially see him as a patient, I recommend asking him how old his CBCT scanner/machine is. No one else world work on my mouth based on his scans. I was exposed to needless radiation because of the poor scans. UPDATE: I ended up getting my cavitation surgery by Dr. David Son in Irvine, CA, which is absolutely worth the drive. Dr. Son trained in Switzerland at Swiss BioHealth (directly under Klinghardt). He never uses IV sedation and wants you awake for the dental work so he can muscle test you throughout the procedure. And, guess what? He did all 4 of my sites with local, something Dr. Margolis refused to do with me. Dr. Son uses ozone, PRF and the Piezo tool for his surgery. I had my *higher quality* CBCT scan at the mobile service he recommended. I'm very happy with the choice I made and glad I researched all of my options before selecting a dentist for such an important surgery. read more

I'm heading in for my last appointment and I've got to say I'm sad about it. This has been the best dental experience I've ever had. If I wasn't moving cross country, I would continue to come here. This office is very friendly and makes you feel like a person. Meggon is so pleasant and helpful. Scheduling is her super power which is why I'm here one last time. Jessica has done an excellent job with my cleanings. Nicole is incredible. I really don't have words to describe her. She is caring and very funny. She keeps Kovar in line. Kovar is also quite witty. He has been great. He is very gentle. I have had multiple mercury fillings replaced, and I'm so glad I made that decision. I feel very fortunate to have found this practice. The hygienists, staff and assistants are warm, efficient and compassionate. I will not ever go to another dentist office. This might have been a good practice until Sandu took over. He is a complete conman who will try to gaslight you into services and an agreement you did not make. He puts his ill-prepared office staff "team" on the frontline if you dare to advocate for yourself and they will say you are rude if you disagree. This practice has been sold to operatives from India who DO NOT respect American practices and ethics. A Cheshire grin and aire of superiority are used to ignore patient concerns and they use all tactics at their disposal to increase billing even if procedures or x-rays are not necessary or appropriate. If you have an appointment don't go. Schedule with other dentists that are actually honest and professional. They will charge you for their waste disposal. If you have the audacity to ask for an itemized bill they will drop you when you need them most. No transparency, lack of morals and preditory finance option available. I can't help but to feel that "Dr" Sandu is out for your money no matter the cost, looking out for your best interest comes in dead last. Book an appointment and find a better practice in the mean-time. The only regret you will ever have is going to My Dentist. Did I mention they will charge you to obtain YOUR records from them that you paid exorbitantly to have generated. Dr. Kovar and Dr. Margolis are hostage to Sandu's will, their hands are tied. I just received a bill in the mail that is 60 days past due, not happy at all. There is a disagreement between this office and my Cigna insurance. I was made aware and have followed-up with Cigna. At no time was it explained to my that I had a balance that I needed to pay until I opened the bill today that was 60 days past due. This is absolutely absurd. I work very hard to protect my 800 plus credit score. I would have appreciated an initial notice/bill asking for payment prior to this bill. I am more than happy to pay, but I feel that I was not properly informed of the expectation of payment, regardless of the outcome with Cigna. read more

I had 3 excellent visits. This is the office of Dr. Stephen A. Kovar, DMD, and Dr. Michael D. Margolis, DDS, Doctor of Integrative Medicine, P.C. I went here for an evaluation and the office was new, with a very modern feel. LCD screen in front of me showing each detailed xray as it was taken. For my first visit, I was impressed with Dr. Kovar and his assistant, both very informed. A clean office with newer equipment too. They even have he latest digital xray systems which mean much lower radiation for patients, and a much better image than most that are still in use in other offices. This is a great place to go to have your mercury fillings removed the correct and safe way. I will certainly return. UPDATE 11/18: Had 2 more visits in the last 2 weeks to remove the amalgam fillings and replace with non-toxic composite. Dr. Kovar was excellent. He took time to explain everything that was happening and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. I felt very safe knowing that many precautions were taken to safely remove the old mercury fillings in a way that keeps me from inhaling or swallowing the vapor and pieces: such as my own separate oxygen supply, a rubber dam, and a room air filter. I chose to get nitrous for both visits and I will say loudly, MONEY WELL SPENT! My 1.5 - 2hr. procedure went by in what felt like 5-10 minutes, but was able to communicate the whole time, when necessary. The only time I felt minor pain was in the beginning during the novocaine injections, but even that was not bad at all. Needles just make me nervous and I was more frightened of that than pain. During the drilling, and filling, I FELT NOTHING. I was talked to the whole time and explained everything as it was done. So when the procedure was over and the numbness wore off, I had my first chance to see my teeth without silver. The job Dr. Kovar did was pretty darn good. My teeth (all still natural) were sculpted back to their original state, and color matched. My teeth now look like they did when I was 10 years old, cavity-free and new again. So I would certainly recommend this dentist. My wife even had a visit here for the same procedure with Dr. Kovar. She was very pleased. So now it's time to detoxify my body from the heavy metals that have accumulated over 38 years. NOTE: if your current dentist still uses amalgam fillings and thinks it's okay, then please educate yourself on heavy metal toxicity. Especially mercury. It's one of the most toxic substances and has no place in our bodies. Removing these amalgam fillings HAS to be done a certain safe way, like they do in this office. Regular dentists don't protect you as they are removed and you get poison in your mouth during removal. Also, all of the amalgams (13) in my teeth had cavity underneath, which Dr. Kovar says is common. And I had no idea that was even happening. I'm concerned for those people with old amalgams who don't even know that they are going bad. read more

Dr Margolis went above and beyond to help me and his procedure, although I wasn't sure about it at the time... it was spot on. He came in on Father's Day to remove a wisdom tooth that was causing so much pain. I called him at 5:30 am and he called me right back. I was in California when this all happened and he called the pharmacy to prescribe a pain killer because regular Tylenol did not work at all. He personally spoke to the pharmacist to make sure I got what I needed to get me through the trip. I am unbelievably thankful for Dr. Margolis and my entire family trusts him because of his experience and integrity! read more

I wanted to go to a biological dentist. I have a perfectly good dentist but I was worried about the metal fillings. I explained to Dr Margolis I had sensitive teeth and I would let him do a crown but only if necessary and only take off as little as possible. My old dentist who I should have gone to and got a second opinion said he would have done a filling not a crown. Dr Margolis grounded my perfectly good tooth down so far I bled and exposed the root, also it is now harder to clean with dental floss. I now have a sensitive tooth. Crowns fall apart too my tooth would have been more preferable if this comes out I will have a hole because I can't see replacing this crown since it is all crown above the gum line. I would get a second opinion before letting him destroy your perfectly good teeth. read more

Was told by Dr. Margolis back in 2013 that my windpipe was so small that I would need an oxygen tank by age 39 else I would end up dying. Unless of course I bought their special $3000 device that you keep under your tongue each night while sleeping. I can't prove that he was wrong, but 1) no other medical professional has ever mentioned this (and I have been to many for various reasons), 2) how convenient that they have the one thing that can save me, and 3) even if this was true, this is definitely not the correct way to convey it, especially on the first visit. I felt like I was a used car dealership surrounded by vultures, not at a dentist office. Felt like an assembly line of people trying to sell this device to me at all costs. I bet they make tons off all the gullible old people. Also tried getting the all of the initial "state of the art" xrays and such so I could pass them on to others for their opinions. This was near impossible, as each person on the phone acted like they were either stupid or had no idea what I was talking about, and in the end I gave up. I can't say that the place actually does good work or not, because I never went back after literally being told I was going to die without buying their toys. read more

First let me say, USE THESE PEEPS! Dr. Margolis and Dr. Kovar are awesome. Caring and smart enough to know when something just looks "wrong" you go another direction. DON'T LET ANOTHER PROVIDER DO A ROOT CANAL ON YOU. Come see these guys please please please. Go to their website & just look around to see why. I have complications from multiple root canals and redone root canals (same teeth over again) spanning 30 years, now causing major health issues. Was desperate for real help and instead was getting the real 'run around'. Found this office and feel hopeful for the first time in a long time. I'm only a couple months into a long process, so may update later. I'm raving about them, so why is this review a 4 instead of a 5? Well, what they do is unique, and hard to find so they are super busy. Been a little challenging on scheduling, and when you're in pain, even their 'rush you in' can be tough, but they care and try, so that matters. Also, the Docs sort of assume you know what they do is great, lay out plan & whoosh off to the next person. However, making up for that, I love love love Debi at their office. She's happy to take some time and walk through my questions and concerns. She's experienced, confident, knows the process, great source of info if you just ask her. On a side note, I have had NO issues with the front desk staff. They have been nothing but polite & helpful to me. Yes, this is a bit pricey but getting my health back and finally having real answers to the issues, totally worth it. They offer payment options if credit is okay. I would personally only consider a dentist that practices safe protocol in removing mercury amalgams and the replacement of fillings. Dr Margolis is one of very few dentists who do this expertly. The office staff at My Dentist is amazing helpful and caring. The office is beautiful and you feel the stress melt away upon entering. Dr Margolis is caring, approachable and professional and GENTLE. They understand the body as holistic as I do. I've been very put off by other dentists mannerisms and condescending attitude towards questions I would ask them. WORST. DENTIST. EVER! I was persuaded by the positive reviews I read online to wait 3 months to see this supposed expert and amazing holistic dentist. My actual experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. I had two cavitation surgeries on #8 & 9 (plus extraction of 9) and was persuaded by Dr. Margolis to do a bone graft, even with my severe MCS (impaired immune system, hyper reactive to chemicals and artificial substances) and assured me it would be all 'natural' and 'mineral based' and so no chance of problems. Well that was not true, plus he changed his mind mid surgery about what graft to use and used a synthetic one. I have been living a nightmare since March when he placed that graft. My body totally rejected it but he would not admit to that even with clear signs of rejection, like gum inflammation long after surgery (2 months later) plus pieces of the graft surfacing. I finally got a 2nd opinion and was told I was rejecting it. Had to pay $1000 for someone else to remove it. Still have pieces surfacing as it migrated really far from where he placed it. Still have pain and inflammation. Also have pain in tooth #10 since the surgery, seems he damaged a nerve or the root and I may loose that one now! The temporary Essex retainer I paid for, I still have not received (not one that fits, they were supposed to do another, after making 3 others that would not fit at all first). The office has been unresponsive to my letting them know about the failed bone graft and not having my retainer. (I have had to go with NO front teeth for the past 6 months!) I also had a lot of trouble in their office because of high VOCs from very strong chemical cleaners and fragrances. I told them on the phone before my 1st appointment that I had MCS and they assured me their office was low VOC and they did not use strong cleaning products or fragrances. NOTHING could be farther from the truth. Absolute hell for someone with MCS. My mask did not even help. Took forever for them to admit they were not keeping track of what the cleaning crew used. Still I did the first surgery since I was under the impression this man was the best there was in his field. I don't know if he used to be but he certainly is no longer that. He also misdiagnosed my TMJ disorder for jawbone cavitations and they were pushing thes surgeries on me, thank god I got out of there after doing the first one. It was SO painful, the numbing shots did NOT work. The staff is extremely disorganized, often patronizing and rude, or very unresponsive and neglectful. It's a CIRCUS over there and Margolis is the ring leader. He's an amazing SALESMAN and very convincing when you first meet him. Acts like your best friend but really does not care. When it comes down to it and you need help and you have concerns, he is impatient and dismissive and then just abandons you once he's screwed up your mouth and health and taken thousands from you, so that you have to go and spend thousands more else where just for damage control. I've since learned he's had many lawsuits against him and some of them for bone graft rejections but also because he's pulled healthy teeth. The man is a lunatic. Another dentist (a good one who cares!) calls him a 'butcher' and a 'criminal' and says he should be behind bars. He is no longer insured as he is un-insurable due to all of the complaints to the dental boards and the lawsuits against him. My complaint to the board is being mailed out tomorrow. I spent nearly $4,000 at his office to get well and he made me much sicker and I've been in much more pain since then and now have no front teeth either. And have spend another $2,000 so far trying to undo the damage he caused and likely will have to spend a few more thousand at the least before all is said and done and just hoping to god that I will not loose another tooth because of his incompetence and total lack of caring. He cares about money and riding his Harley, That is all. I actually feel like a complete idiot since I'd read some of the negative reviews and decided to believe the positive ones instead, because I was tired and had been to too many dentists already and was not up to searching for another and thought that with all of those good reviews he must be okay, right? Wrong. I actually left a good review on another site just after that first visit because he really wowed me on that visit. Like I said a great salesman, but he's selling snake oil and I got totally taken in, had high hopes of a positive experience and outcome and I can tell you I've been to a LOT of dentists and NEVER EVER had such a terrible experience ANYWHERE. This man has NO insurance, he should have lost his license a long time ago but hasn't' because he's got buddies on the board. So he may still not lose it even after all of the new complaints and lawsuits. So it's my hope that this reaches someone and that they will read this and avoid having their lives ruined by him. Dr. Kovar and his staff we absolutely the best. Kind and friendly from door to door. I would highly recommend anyone to go see them. I got my mercury filling removed under the most high tech and thoughtful process. Don't go to anyone else to have your dark silver fillings removed. Biological Dentistry is the way to go. read more

"Doc" Margolis is the most intelligent dentist I've met, and during my health struggle, I went to A LOT. I flew from Alaska to see him multiple times because he was the only dentist who understood why my jaw was aching so bad after having my wisdom teeth pulled. I wanted to get all my metal fillings out for health and healing reasons. I used IAOMT to locate this office. Before I made an appointment I spoke to Jill on the phone that was very patient answering my questions and decided to book my consultation. I met with Dr. Kovar and his very witty dental hygienist Nicole. Looked over my X-rays and gave me the plan of treatment. I went back the following week and had 5 fillings replaced on my right side and 2 replaced the following week on my left side. They followed all the proper biological steps with oxygen tank, dental dam and covering my hair and clothes while they worked on me. The dental dam can be scary and hard to breath so Nicole and Dr. Kovar were both very patient in letting me get used to breathing through my nose and always making sure I was all numbed up and I was doing ok throughout the entire procedure. Everything went great and I'm looking forward to my cleaning in 6 months. Would definitely recommend this office to friends and family. read more

Dr. M and Dr. K are simply the best dentists I have ever met! I was recommended to their office after THREE area dentists told me I needed a root canal. After sitting in Dr. Margolis' chair for about 5 minutes he quickly saw what three dentists had failed to see. Right away, he told me that I didn't need a root canal. He saw that one of my dentists had over-filled my tooth when giving me a filling for my cavity. The over-filled tooth caused me much pain so the dentists thought I needed a root canal due to the pain. Dr. Margolis fixed the over-filled tooth no root canal was needed! His office is in the tooth-saving business.They have a holistic and biological approach to dentistry. They treat the teeth, but also understand the teeth are a reflection of what's going on in the body as whole. The staff is professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I had a very unpleasant, and costly, experience with Dr. Kovar recently. I had scheduled an appointment with him some time ago to have some mercury fillings removed. Since 'MyDentist' charges much more for most of their services than non bio-dentists(even for services where there's no appreciable difference from that of non bio-dentists) I asked if it would be okay if I had any replacement crowns/fillings for these teeth put in at another place. The receptionist asked Dr. Kovar about this, then sent me an email confirming he'd be okay with it. On the day of the procedure, all went well until he started talking about all the crown prep work he was doing on me. I stopped him at that point, just to make sure he knew that the crown was to be put in at another dentist's, per our agreement. He said he knew nothing about this. I then explained that he had agreed to this per his secretary's email to me. Instead of apologizing, or at least trying to handle the situation in a mature and professional manner, he tried to make it seem like it was my fault for not stopping him before he did the procedure, and also said it's not customary for him to do just the mercury removals alone. I politely stood my ground, reiterating that we had a prior agreement, with a paper trail to prove it. At that point he became abusive, telling me to 'stop talking', and then barked out his instructions at me while he finished putting in the temporary crown I never authorized him to put in. When he was done he walked out in a huff, and I got stuck with a $275 bill for a temporary crown I never should have had in the first place. To anybody seeking a bio-dentist, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
